@coma13794 Yeah, sadly there is always some sort of bias to a company. For European channels, the bais is always American Muscle and Sport. But when a channel does it right and gives American sport and muscle effort in one particular instance like a launch, it's over 95% of the time. The Corvette C8 Z06 and E-ray is a good example. Throttle house or even channels like Hagerty, I believe, have recorded a best of 2.5 0-60 to 2.8 0-60 when testing the Vetts. And in a modern world like this, that's a big advantage as ICE has nice overhead with gears the more power and coupled with the right transition. I do still think an Acura doing this well is magical. I like the Acura NSX, i think it's underrated, but I know that Lucid could have done better. But man! At the top end? Did not expect such a challenge.
I have driven quite a few of the NSX's but not the Type S. It is simply one of the best handling and most underrated cars out there. Yes, they do sound amazing.
I did not understand you. What do you want to say? You are aware that he was not wrong. But you chose to point out that he was almost wrong. You forgot that this is a professional and dangerous course.
@leviyaakubov1875 public roadways have greater dangers. This is a controlled test with only 2 cars and safety cones, to use simple acceleration, braking and the cars g forces. Unless a tire blows out, the course isn't going to spawn a tractor trailer out of nowhere and causes a deadly head on collision 🤣
Repeat that maneuver several times in a row and any tires on the Lucid will overheat and then disintegrate...meanwhile the NSX will keep going at the same pace. Lucid can't handle many long corners in a row without its tires giving up.

Personally I think the whole gas vs EV argument is silly. Both have their purpose and pros and cons, I wish the EV fanboys would understand why EVs don't make good sports cars, and I wish ICE fans would acknowledge the obvious benefits of EVs when it comes to daily drivers. I say this as an enthusiast myself, I've owned several manual transmission sports cars including my current c7 Vette. And I'm telling you, when it comes to daily drivers, a well-executed EV is simply better. We have a Jaguar I-PACE EV as our daily driver. This replaced our 970 Panamera Turbo (both of which we bought used btw), a car that most ICE fans would probably agree is a pretty good daily driver in its own right. And I can honestly say the Jag is better in every single way. I don’t miss the Panamera one bit, neither does the wife. With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear. Yes, it can be annoying on road trips - but it's not the end of the world unless you road trip all the time. It's the better car 364 days of the year, and the worse car 1 day of the year. Having said all of that, like I said I'm an enthusiast, and we also have two sports cars (manual transmission c7 corvette stingray and an R56 Mini Cooper JCW, both of which I frequently use for road rallys and autocross), and I have no desire for either of those to be electric. The whole point of those cars is a visceral, loud, lightweight, connected experience with a manual transmission. I know there is a Boxster EV coming soon and I’m sure it’ll be great and smoke my c7 around any racetrack, but I have no interest at all, even as a current EV owner. Sports cars should be gas powered and manual IMO. So as I said, each has their purpose. I don’t see myself ever going back to gas for daily driver, and I don’t see myself ever going EV for sports cars. My point is simple: EVs are better at some things, and gas cars are better at some things. "Taking a side" doesn't make sense, even for enthusiasts. Just acknowledge what the other is better at. EVs dont work for everyone (you need a place to charge and can't road trip all the time etc etc), but if it works in your lifestyle - try it before you knock it is all I'm saying. You might be surprised. And like I said - just because a car is EV doesn't make it good. There are good EVs and bad ones, just like gas cars. For example, I' not a huge Tesla fan. But, the well-executed EVs are, in my opinion, the best daily drivers, if they fit into your lifestyle. ...and this is coming from someone that's currently on his 8th manual transmission sports car (Vette, Mini JCW, 350Z, etc etc). And to be clear - these are my favorite cars, not the I-PACE. But, I have a wife and a kid, and we need something that isn't manual and has a back seat. And in that category, the Jag is by far and away the best we've had.
I will always choose the NSX above the Lucid. Japanese engineering + Honda reliability. Also the NSX's value will only continue to go up meanwhile the Lucid will depreciate massively!
I’ve driven both and the lucid has far better feedback/communication to the driver. Nsx is just a numb heavy brick that’s fast in a straight line but offers absolutely nothing to the driver.

Oh and btw, the nsx is not reliable. The owner of the local Acura dealership bought one for his wife and it spent a year in the shop before they finally sold it to someone else. Also the parts are McLaren-expensive, not Honda expensive. How much do you think one brake rotor (steel, not carbon) costs? Would you believe 600 dollars? These cars are extremely complex and expensive to maintain and good luck expecting your local Acura dealer to have the expertise to fix it

These two would be a nice combo in the garage. If it was a Lucid id have the top dog Lucid Air Sapphire and like a McLaren 720 Spyder as my 2 seater. This also shows how Tesla did a good job with the Plaid. It can do repeated runs and run similar times.
Guys, there's a dedicated launch control mode on the Lucid 😂. How is that a mystery if you've raced this thing before? Select Sprint then torque brake it. THAT activates launch mode. You should also either turn off the traction control or change it to "partial". Leaving it all the way on kills power out of corners and off the line. As a result of this miss, your Grand Touring accelerated more like the 620hp Touring.
There’s a difference between fast and quick. Quick is most electric cars. Yes, it’s fun and cool to go in a quick line but like you said.. over and over again is where the engineering, parts and development come in. I’d easily take the NSX. I think a lot of people gave it shit when it came out but it was a head of its time. We’re seeing the same thing in a Corvette now,,, and the NSX came out in 2017! Lucid is a great car but it’s an electric sedan, not a true sports car.
Lucid is the best of the luxury EV’s on the market good looks outstanding range over 450 miles out of charge and ridiculously fast with a beautiful interior hence why it’s won numerous awards best car I’ve owned overall
The Lucent may excel as a luxury EV across a field that has yet to show itself worthy of replacing fossile fuel machines…EVs ostensibly by real-world evidence remain as a concept that driven by the Globalist agenda likely will never come close to full fruition. Their purpose is to place the mainstay of vehicles out of the reach of the public, thereby relegating humans to hubs of small cities living…that’s been their implied messaging. The NSX is indeed a multifaceted supercar in a class well beyond any EV. 1.) It’s a multi-mode driver having a range of performance settings, making for the quintessential supercar daily driver; 2.) It’s an apex, showpiece Honda built around best-in-class engineering with cutting-edge QC standards; 3.) The car was also built to race, having stellar handling & cornering abilities; the GT3 version has won races against all comers; 4.) The Gen 2 NSX is perhaps the most underrated supercar ever. The elite owners know this, and unlike every EV in the planet, the NSX will hold value like a Rolex watch.
The Lucid Grand Touring is available with 21" wheels wearing high-performance summer tires. Why would Edmunds mount the 19" wheels with narrower all-season tires on the Air for a drag race against an all-out sports car? Oh, yeah . . . so they can handicap the Air as much as possible for such a showdown. This is just another episode in Edmunds' continuing campaign against the Lucid Air.
Brakes are absolutely the limiting factor in tracking or autocross for EVs. When you have a car that weighs that much it doesn't really matter what you're straight line speed is if you can't reliably corner consistently. Honestly this is the only type of drag race that should matter at this point. Straight line 1/4 mile times are pretty disingenuous when comparing cars in regards to performance.
If Edmunds bought the Lucid Air intending to use it in U-Drag videos, could someone explain to me why they chose to buy the car with the 19" wheels wearing all-season rubber instead of the 21" wheels wearing Pirelli summer tires (which are also 20mm wider in the rear) for which most Lucid GT buyers opt? It's as if they are deliberately handicapping the Lucid.
When he described launch mode on the Lucid and said "and that's it," I hope he didn't mean it literally. After that, he needs to hold the brake, floor the accelerator and wait for the car to tell him that launch mode is active. Then he needs to take his foot off the brake pedal. If he didn't use launch mode but it was used on the Acura, it gave the Acura an unfair advantage.
Now do one that is 90% braking and cornering and 10% straightaway. Any time it’s electric vs. anything else, it should be at least 50/50 rather than basically a drag race.
Don't like losing? you get to drive a NSX type S, a car that 99% of the world will never get to touch, you don't own it, you don't own the Lucid either..I'll never get someone saying they don't like losing when they aren't losing. Getting to drive an NSX is a win regardless of which one crosses a imaginary line first. Some people are very shallow minded and can't get out of their own way, that's most car guys on youtube. I would be grateful just to be doing that, and i'm glad my brain isn't dumb.
...now put 3 more ppl in the NSX (and their bags). if you listen closely, the tires on the Lucid were screaming "we're ahead, we're ahead!!" as he/they made the turn.
@@JAM_2024 That has nothing to do with how good the car actually is. The NSX will continue to rise in price, holding its value, and will grow as a coveted supercar. FYI that Honda stopped making them ~ 2 years ago. BTW, the updated release, the Type S, sold-out very quickly.
Real answer it comes down to drivers, look at it from a 3rd person perspective it literally looked like the same race just switched cars, so they put the faster car with the guy who can’t handle as fast first and then the guy who can corner second

Best head to head drag racing on YT.
I will always choose the NSX above the Lucid. Japanese engineering + Honda reliability.
Also the NSX's value will only continue to go up meanwhile the Lucid will depreciate massively!
I’ve driven both and the lucid has far better feedback/communication to the driver. Nsx is just a numb heavy brick that’s fast in a straight line but offers absolutely nothing to the driver.
yeah im sure joe here in some youtube comments has driven the limited edition Acura NSX Type-S.. like maybe a normal nsx but you aint touched a type-s stop lying lmfao. and why defend car companies that 90% of people will never own lmfao@@joetz1
These cars are extremely complex and expensive to maintain and good luck expecting your local Acura dealer to have the expertise to fix it
@@stevenfernandez969 ok you got me there. The two that I drove were not the type s model. But both were such soul crushing, appliance-like toasters…how much better could the type s be? You can’t polish a turd
@@joetz1I call bullshit on your part.
Shocking to see the luxury focused long range version with the smallest tires can do this well against performance focused supercars.
Regardless of how fast it is, one looks like the box the other one came in.
Yeah, that NSX is ugly. The original was so much nicer
@@jtc1964xpretty sure je was talking about lucid 😂😂😂
I have to disagree heavily I think the NSX is beautiful and way better looking than the original. I think most people just have nostalgia for the original but it’s not that good looking imo.
@@darkcircle899 I agree I think the new NSX is beautiful in person. All the proportions are just right, and it's doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME" like some pimp's Lambo. I saw one parked next to a new C8, and coming from a lifelong Corvette guy, it makes the Vette look big and goofy. The Vette should've had the Acura's size and asthetics, and the Acura should've had the Vette's price for performance.
One can also haul 5 people and their luggage and the other one can't. It's actually quite impressive that a 4 door family sedan/saloon can nearly match a purpose built street legal racing machine.
"Lucid is overcooked!" Best quote! Great race and video everyone involved!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Type S all the way! Man when that car spools up, it rips 👍👍
Did you guys put the right tires this time?
Yoo, amazing work. Keep it coming, plesase.
That third launch on the NSX was spot on.
NSX prices are about to skyrocket again!!
I'd rather the lucid
well no sh*t, ones a practical dad car the other is a TRACK car... unless you plan on going to a track or showing off why would you buy a nsx? thats why theres limited quantity of them... good input though! cant believe someone would take practicality over track laps times.. who knew!@@JamaicanMeCrazy
@@stevenfernandez969 it's not that deep bro. People like what they like and buy what they want. The op clearly was insinuating that he thinks the nsx is superior and that's alright. Lots of people live impractical sports cars
@@JamaicanMeCrazy lol why are you so defensive now. All I did was call you out for trying to be this cool guy no one really cares about 🤣
@@stevenfernandez969 'id rather the lucid is me trying to be cool? Not being defensive at all. I just don't like the NSX lol I'm so confused right now I'm convinced you might be my wife pretending to be Stevenhernandez969
Lucid is by far the best looking new EV to market.
Next drag race: NSX type s vs corvette Z06 C8!!!!
You guys should do this with customers or workshops tuned cars
That NSX looks sooooooo sick and sounds soooooooo melodic!!!!
your u-drag is a good format, compared to just a standard straightline drag!
Awesome race! Love it!!
NSX for the win 🫡💯💚🖤💨
Give the people the ultimate arch rival battle...NSX vs GT-R!!!
i’m more interested in Acura NSX Type S vs Corvette E Ray
Did you also turn off regen on the Lucid?
Type S is slower than the M3 Comp?! Not even the CS but the comp?! WOW!
this is a true way to race..great vid, ice ftw!
guys.. lucid has launch mode. just hold the lucid brake all the way down and then the accelerator
Love that NSX!!! Diggin that Saturn cap too! 👍🏽
A bit wild how fast the Lucid performance degrades. It makes sense that the NSX goes longer, but the Lucid only got a single run in?
U drag. That's an awesome concept.
That NSX will be awesome forever.
That is a thrilling comparison
So epic...a family super sedan with proper seating for 3 adults in the back seat beats a sports coupe. Lucid has built something special here folks.
Yeah for more the 100k better be good for that price 😮
@@ju4121it extremely is. Better than a sclsss, eqs, BMW 7 series at that price. N if you spend 250 k get a car better than an average lambo n ferrari
E-Ray vs NSX next👍
Need more U drag races !
Maybe you guys should put performance tires on it. Blaming the brakes 😂
These two would be a nice combo in the garage. If it was a Lucid id have the top dog Lucid Air Sapphire and like a McLaren 720 Spyder as my 2 seater.
This also shows how Tesla did a good job with the Plaid. It can do repeated runs and run similar times.
I'd take the nsx all day over the lucid. Nice aftermarket exhaust and a few other mods and it would be awesome.
Que pega sensacional... o Honda é demais!!!
HONDA &ACURA 🏍️🚘🏎️💪👍❤
The Lucid is a 1 trick pony...the NSX has it all!!
This makes me want to see a Corvette E Ray do this test
I very want the GTR nismo vs GT3RS
Aí ficou claro que quem ganhou essa corrida foi o piloto. Bem mais rápido na curva....m parabéns ao canal
Where is my car? Tesla Model S Plaid? Come on Edmund's, KEEP IT REAL!!!!!
It seems the heated electric motors are showing inefficiency starting the round 2
It’s the brakes that are heating & fading.
@@Snookynibbles the NSX was walking him the last two races. Those electric motors were done!
What the frik are you even saying?
Kirk is back!!!
I appreciate the lucid....but hands down I would want the NSX
Not many people are buying them tho.
@JAM_2024 that makes it even better! Just like my Stinger GT2 not too many around and I love that!
What a difference drivers make.
Real answer it comes down to drivers, look at it from a 3rd person perspective it literally looked like the same race just switched cars, so they put the faster car with the guy who can’t handle as fast first and then the guy who can corner second
NSX for the win! The lucid got tired. 😂
Next 💯 combastion to the win 🏆 💪🏽
What’s the price of the two??
The weight on that Lucid is it drawback.
The Lucid is over-powered and under-braked. And put them on a real track and the Lucid is a toaster.
@@TheBreakfastLover Just bring the Sapphire instead, that NSX is dead around a track or in a straight line as would most of the cars on the list.
@@njasicko Despite all the hype around the Sapphire, it still does not have an official factory lap time on the Nurburgring. Methinks the Sapphire is a one trick pony, e.g. fast only in a straight line.
@@njasicko name even one lap time where the Sapphire beat the NSX Type S. I'll wait.
The sapphire is in a whole new price brakcet and it still wont last on a long track too heavy and ev @njasicko
