Hi Zach you've been posting some great content which i keep watching , I’ve got the marantz AV- 7706 Processor i want to hook-up the new apple tv 4k to my processor, want to know if I'll be able to stream 4k dolby atmos content from Netflix, Prime , Disney etc. to my processor which is hooked up to my LG G3-77 inch TV
I highly recommend setting up the provider log in. If you enter your information into that area you can watch TV via direct TV app and auto sign into all streaming apps like espn, nbc, and so on with no effort
I’m looking for a smart remote I can use other then Logitech harmony. Can you recommend one for me. I tried looking on your website but could not find one.
One note beyond what people are saying about SDR 4K; if you’re using a Logitech Harmony remote to trigger activities, it is not compatible with CEC. The commands sent by the remote interfere with the CEC handshakes and the Activity will not fie up and set your various components to their respective settings.
i cant get 4K on my apple tv box, tv is 4K, reciver is 4K and im running cables that supoprts 8K. i only get 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 option when i set 4K options in video res.
Now that they have the automatic video output for SDR and HDR - I’m guessing you switch that on for your customers? Most of what I read said to keep that on since a SDR source when viewed in HDR can make the picture quality worse.
your right Justin always keep it in sdr and the Apple TV will change automatically to HDR for HDR content otherwise it will run sdr content in HDR and look washed out
His onkyo can’t pass highest 4k formats. Also always leave on 4k sdr the then select match frame and rate and it’ll automatically go to right format like hdr.
You never want to use 4K HDR or the Dolby Vision mode. It’s forces the Apple TV box to show EVERYTHING in those modes which affects picture quality. You should set it to 4K SDR and then when you watch a program that is native HDR/Dolby Vision it will auto switch to that. If your tv and receiver can support it the proper settings is 4K SDR/YCbCr/4:4:4/Match Range & Frame Rate. Finally if you don’t know the UA-cam app in the Apple TV DOES NOT support anything higher than 1080p. UA-cam uses a video codec that Apple does not support. So just understand all those 4K and 8k video shown are not native 4K on your Apple TV. You can verify this by looking at the stats for nerds info in the program info on the second page of the UA-cam options. Looks like a little bug. ua-cam.com/video/htd_1RSaf3A/v-deo.html
Scott Tilden it does not down convert. You can watch many videos on UA-cam that explains this. If you are happy with your settings that’s completely up to you. If I have an LG C9 and anytime an HDR flag is read it shows an HDR label and the picture mode changes. If I set the Apple TV to 4k HDR or Dolby Vision regardless with what i play it shows it’s in that mode. I have five 4K Apple TV’s and they all do this. Look at the link I provided.
Why do you guys AlWAYS try to force the gray screen on people ? Gray screens are terrible. They give you off whites, hot spotting and not as accurate colors as a white screen. The screen the customer has is a very good screen, no reason to upgrade unless they want bigger. Also on the apple tv 4k you forgot the 3 most important apple tv settings make sure match frame rate and dynamic range are both set to ON also you want the HDR mode set to SDR 4k @60 (usa) that way the menus are the correct color space, and then you watch anything with HDR it will then put all HDR content in the correct color space.
amazingly helpful tips. Thanks for the video

If I already have a Sony 4K smart tv. Is there any benefit to having a Roku Ultra or a 4K Apple TV?

This is true! It’s not for DirecTV now
How do you connect an Apple TV to a Sonos amp. No surround just basic sound by the pool.
Love my Apple TV 4k! Great tutorial man.
This is why I love my apple tv! I do wish they would integrate with alexa or google home for voice commands without the remote
unlikely that they would ever integrate google home voice commands or alexa but we should dare to dream, right?
what 4k HDMI do you recommend for Apple TV 4K?
The glare off the cabinets would bother me soo much

The TV provider screen is not where you replace your cable box. It’s so you can sign in with those Directv credentials for those streaming apps.

Can you turn off the tv with the Apple TV remote when your done watching movies ?
yep. its easy. hold the top right button and click the touchpad

perhaps the cable isnt backwards compatible

yes the content match is a good idea to keep on

Golden Gamers12 that was gonna be my comment 👍🏼
Great education mate!
when do you estimate 8k will be the new normal? 3-5 years? When will 4K be the outdated like 1080p is now?
i think 2020 will see a bigger price drop, its already been widely accepted in japan.
How many inch is this screen?
ATV4K all day every day.
Need to black felt those cabinets to stop that reflections.
Only thing I hate about my Apple TV 4ks is no 4k on youtube app due to codec support differences.
So you no longer hate it now?
The roku ultra doesn't give atmos on Netflix.
Not having Express VPN app on AppleTV is a major turn down 4 me. #Hardpass

What brand/model speakers are those?
we just got amazon fire stick and love it..and bought another one for the theater room
What about the audio setup? A home theater without sound is ……
Good
That's an awfully small screen for a projector. Why not just go with a tv if the customer only wants this size?
