Great video. I locked my car with my iPhone and card key inside. (The card key slipped out of my pocket onto the drivers seat.) My other card key was in my desk at work. Ugh. I had downloaded an app "Watch for Tesla" for my apple watch. I went back inside my house to retrieve my apple watch and fortunately I was able to unlock my car with the Watch for Tesla app on my apple watch.
PRO TIP: You need to ensure that the TESLA mobile app is set to “Track My Location - Always Allow”, AND in order for the TESLA EV to unlock as you approach the vehicle, you need to ensure that the TESLA app is running (even if it is only running in the background). Your phone screen can be locked, or your phone screen can be unlocked with another app running in the foreground, but as long as you have the TESLA mobile app running in the background, then Bob’s your uncle! Just don’t swipe up (iOS) to close the TESLA app when you are done using it. Always leave it running in the background.
Very detailed and informative. When I saw it was a 9 min video I almost didn't play (how can an unlocking video take 9 min?), but it was filled with concise info, some I didn't realize, and well edited. Subscribed.

Wow. How about this Kim….cars today have a small key fob you keep in your pocket or purse, walk up to the car and pull the handle and it unlocks, push a button and it starts. Get out, touch a button on the handle and it locks . No stupid cards or phase apps to worry about.
He could have made the same video with the same content in 4min

Turn your phone off when the battery gets to 5%. Not having your phone for the short amount of time is much better than standing there like an idiot 😂

You forgot to mention that any WearOS based smartwatch with the DRIVE Electric for Tesla app can be used as both a NFC Key Card and/or Watch-As-Key over Bluetooth.
If I use a key card then to lock the car I have to put the key card on the panel again outside?
You didn't say when the battery dies inside the car You can't open the handle from the outside what do you do?
What if I have disabled all Wireless by removing the NIC? How do you get in?
I hope Tesla would release an app for unsupported Andriod phone for basic functions. I have an iPhone 14 Pro. It works fine with the Tesla app. But, I would want to go back to one of my old phones, Galaxy Alpha.
Thanks for the helpful video. One question. Is there a way to unlock all doors as I approach my tesla (without going to the driver’s side first)? For example, let someone (e.g. my kids) get in the car before me, or put groceries in the trunk without opening the driver’s side door. I know I can use my phone app to unlock all doors but I wish there is a way to do it just by getting close to it.

Yes, just open the passenger door before the driver door and all the doors should open. Opening the driver door first locks out all the passenger doors as a safety feature.

Excellent review. I have a question , if you are inside the car, are the doors locked or unlocked? Say you are picking up a passenger, will he be able to just open the door from outside or are the door locked. I do not see a button to unlock or to close or doors when I am inside. Great question. Look for a very small "lock" icon on the top of the screen. Tap this to "unlock" or "lock" the car while inside.

If your 12 volt battery is drained out, none of the methods you mentioned will work
Only way to do is to jump start ( yes old fashioned jump start
Inside the lid of your toe area are wire connections
Once connected will open your front bonnet
Now you can access the 12 volt battery once it is charged
You can lock/ unlock will be back in action
How to unlock back doors?
they should have face recognition (so many cameras) or fingerprint somewhere, so at least can get into the car and charge the phone or whatever.

Yes, you can unlock it with your phone or you can turn off “Driver Unlock Mode” so that any door can be opened when you approach the car, especially the all important companion's passenger door.
So, for us old school owners, how are we going to get in there if we don't have any of those options? Especially since there's no key or keyhole? Just got to wait for some random passerby and ask them to borrow their phone? Because that's very inconvenient
Just carry the Tesla card. Just like a normal key. No phone needed.

@@stephanievasquez6374 Well, The information I gave you is not quite correct. Last night I was testing out how to open the passenger door from the inside I pick up a passenger. I decided to run through the unlocking methods on my 2021 Y. If my car is set with “Driver Unlock Mode” then I can only unlock my driver door via Bluetooth as I approach the car with my phone. The rear passenger did not unlock others. If I turn “Driver Unlock Mode” off then I can open any of the 4 doors and the trunk from the outside. Of course the latter that is not the safe mode when alone.
I need to go in target and i dont know how to lock my door. Tell me now 😂
A phone charger is not a solution because, of course, you would have already used it to charge your phone so that is not another way to access your Tesla. And chances are that if your phone is dead that you are not going to have that little cell phone charger with you because if you did, then your phone would already be working. Having one of those little power banks doesn't get you into your Tesla. It only gets you into your phone.
Does the new Apple Watches have the chip inside to unlock the Tesla?
I don't know. NOTE: I was locked out of my Model Y a few weeks ago. I used a third party app on my apple watch "Watch for Tesla" to unlock my car. I saved me the extra time and embarrassment of going to work to retrieve my spare car key and come back to unlock the car.

Tap the little lock icon at the top of the display screen until it shows a locked locked. Then yours are locked. Or chose the lock control in your phones Tesla app.
