    I have a 1990 Maytag gas dryer that looks identical to this one, it would ignite. I followed the same steps in your video and diagnosed a bad igniter. $20 later, I was back in business. Thank you!

    Thanks for the thorough analysis!! New gas coils did the trick.

    This is a very informative video. However, I'm still stumped. When I check for continuity across the thermal fuse, the thermostat, and the high limit sensor, all 3 are fine, but the igniter still fails to glow. The igniter itself has continuity, and looks fine. But there are only 27V delivered to the igniter, not 120V. I'm stumped, Scott. What do you think is up with my dryer?

      Hi Dave,
      Can you replace the gas coils.
      I think that’s it👍

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel OK thank you, I'll give it a try.

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I replaced the gas coils, but still no function. Then I saw that there was no continuity across the flame sensor, and now it works. Thanks for the help, Scott. I want to us this ancient Maytag forever.

    When you checked to get 120 from the plug going to the ignitor, I did the same thing but I'm getting like 8 or 9v while its running. What should I be checking if that is the case?

      Thanks Tom,
      I think the hi-limit on the round burner tube has failed blocking juice from getting to the igniter.

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I see you check the Hi limit on the right side of the round burner tube. Is that something I need to disconnect from the wires and pull out to check if its working or not. Would checking the continuity while it's in the machine like that help me prove it's the problem?

    • @FastFreeFixes

      It can still be in the machine.
      Just need to pull one of the wires off of it when you check it.

    Scott, if ignition is intermittent does that mean the ignitor needs to be replaced? Also Great video but I can see which component you are testing Thanks!

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  3 роки тому

      I think with intermittent ignition the best thing to replace is the primary and secondary gas coils.
      They’re really cheap and easy to replace
