Strangely enough, UA-cam threw this video at me and my LG Gas Dryer stopped working a couple of days later. Repair took about half an hour. I would never have thought that the same channel that helped me fix my Ford Escape would also help me fix my dryer! Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!!

7 years ago, after watching one of your video's, I successfully replaced my Ford Expedition timing chain, cam phasers, and guides. I had to laugh when I saw your video on dryer solenoid coil replacement. LOL. BTW it was exactly the same problem on my dryer. half hour later, my dryer is back in service. Thank you AGAIN my friend.

You were spot on with the problem with my Maytag Nepture dryer. I just lost my job last week and there is no way I can afford a new dryer. I ordered the part from amazon (under $10 including tax as I live in CA). our dryer is working like brand new. My sincere gratitude to you my friend for helping a person in need. Thanks

This was an excellent video. I purchased the valve coils for $22 before I realized my problem was the igniter. I watched the video for the third time before realizing my igniter was not glowing. I saw it spark and assumed that was what lit the flame but after watching the video again I noticed the glowing igniter lighting the flame. So it was good to show the flame working. That was my cue to pull it out and examine it closely. There was a break in the igniter barely visible to the eye, but when I flipped it over I could clearly see a more pronounced crack. So for another $24 my Maytag dryer is working again. Still not too bad since I was able to avoid a $175 - $250 service call. That made my day. Thanks for posting this helpful video.

Great video and to the point! Thanks to youtube and online sources I have been maintaining appliances in 3 houses for years without a call to the repair man who gets $125 to walk through the door. Just a word of advice: When you have to finally replace the washer and dryer get the basic model, not the high end deluxe with all the electronics. Your clothes will get clean with either but when the machines fail you will be able to repair the basic ones yourself.

Great video! I just fixed my Kenmore 70 series gas dryer (model 110.76732501) which uses the exact same valve coils, and my clothes are drying again! I was having the exact same thing happening where I would hear the flame start up, I'd close the laundry room door, and then an hour later my clothes were still damp and if in the sensor dry mode, the dial would barely move because it knew the clothes were still damp! We actually had the dryer run for hours one day (not realizing it was still going).
I initially suspected the timer motor since the dryer was just running forever, but did a test running a 60-minute timed dry (rather than the sensor setting we typically use), and the thing turned off right at the 60-minute mark which proved that the timer motor was good. This highlighted the fact that there was still an issue, however, since the clothes weren't dry at that point, and they should have been. Your video is exactly what was happening on my dryer -- it worked at first, but then unbeknownst to me, at some later point the valve was closing back up and turning off the gas.
Also, thank you for pointing out about the metal coil sleeve on the inside of the three-pronged coil. When I removed my old one, the sleeve was stuck inside of it, and I would have for sure missed that and put the new one on without a sleeve, not even realizing that there's supposed to be that sleeve there.
I've watched some of your car repair videos, too, and they're all really well done. Thanks for posting this, and for helping me fix my dryer for about $8 in parts from Amazon.
PS. My Kenmore dryer disassembles a little differently from your Maytag -- the following video posted by someone else shows nicely how to remove the front panel on a Kenmore like mine: ua-cam.com/video/qGpojymCRNU/v-deo.htmlm16s

Repair Clinic had a troubleshooting video saying to measure resistance of the coils, but mine measured good! You said if they are bad then when they heat up they go open circuit, so I waited until the flame when out and sure enough, the 2 pin coil went open circuit. I'll order just the two pin coil instead of both the two pin and three pin coil, now.

When I was growing up we had a Westinghouse dryer. it actually came with the house that we had moved into.
the previous owners left it and it never worked. but that dryer was a strange one. it didn't have that glow coil it had spark ignition. anyway we had a technician come in and look at it. the problem that it had was you started the dryer up the spark would Buzz the flame would come on, then turn off and then very rapidly turn on, turn off, turn on, turn off, turn on, turn off, turn on, turn off, turn on, turn off and then the gas valve would open and nothing but gas would come out.
it would not be lit. we actually had several repair guys look at the dryer. they even took the burner back to the shop with them and tested it on their machines. they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. it wasn't the gas valves there was some deeper issue with it and as the one repair guy said to me, technically it's not supposed to be able to do what it was doing and that is letting out gas without it being lit. he told me that there was about four Fail-Safe systems on the dryer that's supposed to prevent that from happening and every one of them failed and then of course there was the issue with the gas not staying lit. so we finally ended up throwing it out and buying another one.
but I could only wish I knew what was actually wrong with it. I still to this day would love to know

Another symptom of a bad solenoid is the igniter will come on and go off without the gas coming on. It may take a while for that symptom to display itself. In my case it took three burner cycles for it to happen. At least they’re easy to replace. I was able to do it fairly quickly. We have an appliance parts distributor in our area where I purchased them from.

Our Maytag acts the same way, is about 2 years old, it has only partial heat before it quits heating, like only the first valve opens, but makes a sort of scraping sound, (even though the drum has been turning a few minutes,) about the time you hear the valve click off. Maybe a problem with the exhaust fan area being clogged or dirty, or not spinning freely, or bad drive belt or drum roller? THANK-YOU for the video!

TURN OFF THE GAS BEFORE REPLACING THE COILS! There’s no need to turn off the gas on the dryer shown in the video above because the coils can be removed without removing the seal plate. But on my DG210 dryer the press plates are secured by the magnetic straps. As soon as either magnetic strap is loosened its seal plate is no longer secure and gas is allowed to escape.

My gas burner kicks on for about a minute and then shuts off for like 2 minutes and then kicks back on. It repeats this same cycle. I replaced the coils but it still does the same thing. What could be my problem?

Thanks Makuloco for this video. But I wonder where you get that name as my last name is Mikulaco which is Yugoslavian. My cousins still use this name but my father shortened ours to Mikul when I was young. Interesting.

Had the exact same problem and I replaced the 2 solenoids; but it did NOT fix the problem! What else could be causing the flame to stop?

Multimeter test the Flame sensor or hi limit sensor for continuity ohms etc.

Could also be a clog in the vent line....make sure you check this first.

Whirlpools are way easier to get into - they put 'toes' on the dryer so you dont need to break your door hings for servicing.
