I've been watching your builds for a while. Glad to see you tackling the diesel first gen build. I'll be doing this after my ls swapped s10. Great video!!
Love that por 15, I sprayed mine on using their thinner, came out really nice. Can't wait for the engine install and everything else to come. 3 👍's up.
Austin, love this build, and really enjoy all the projects. While the bed is off, I'd like to see a full size bed (not sure the frame would permit it). I just find the 6 1/2' bed to not only be more useful, but look more proportional as there are 4 doors. Just a thought...
You'd probably need the rear frame section from a 6.5' bed truck, then cut/splice the frames together. I'm going to be doing the same thing on a Ranger supercab soon, since they only came with a 6' bed and I want a 7 footer.
Good call taking the bed off. I did the same thing on my 00 Tacoma. Totally worth it. I'd suggest doing rear wheel bearings and axle seals in the near future too
After watching a few (if not all) your vids I began doing things differently, I was always so rushed with my car repair, now that my Tacoma is no long my daily I bought a new engine and I’m going to do this correctly. WWAD is my motto for shop cleaning, Tacoma building and part manufacturing 🤟🏽
Looks great Austin. Also, I never knew your bro was a big time UA-camr until you mentioned it in a recent vid. I was directed to your channel by watching other Toyota restores. So you are the first Niemela that I subscribed to.
Great attention to detail Austin, I've would of never thought of removing the truck bed, you should have a Tdi custom shop. I would send you my discovery 2
I wish I was mechanically inclined like you man. I would love to rebuild my 03 Xterra. I always get offers for it and I just can’t let it go. I keep saying I want to redo the necessary things like brakes and drums. You make it look so easy.
@Hidden Projects just to get started don't even need that many tools, even just going over to harbor freight pick up their smaller tool box $45? I think a better set of sockets, and a husky set of ratchets will be plenty for beginning build up from there. Watch plenty of videos and learn from some of the manuals and the only way to learn is to try
Dirt and silt likes to collect in the piece in the frame by the passenger rear shock , also the same piece on driver side. My 99 from Virginia rusted in those two spots but every other inch of the frame was mint.
Awesome seeing these frames getting saved 🍺🍺Everyone that tells you that you should strip it down and powder coat it doesn't realize you have only a kitchen oven for a powder coat furnace😂😂😂
Do they use that liquid salt solution stuff on the roads there during the winter where you live? They do in NY and it’s tough on frames and bodies. Frame looks good!
Looking pretty sweet! I know you have a process using degreaser, have you ever used tire foam? I have a friend that does detailing on the side. Foam works great in engine bays with compressed air to remove it. I thought he was joking, but I watched him do one once and it was pretty wild. The foam turns brown and then he blows it off. All the hoses look like dressed tires! lol He doesn't like using water for several reasons under the hood. Keep it up!
Man I’m going thru this right now…Por-15 throughout and Napa chassis black. Have two sections having to put frame caps over and weld. Came from Ohio originally but I’m never selling it so might as well do it right.
@@austinniemela thank you previous owner on my lx had a couple busted cv boots so there’s called on grease and dirt around the suspension etc so I want to clean that crud off
Glad you linked the paint in the description! Looks awesome!

I’m actually in the process of doing the 6 1/2 bed swap on my 04 double cab. I was hoping he’d maybe do it so I’d have some video reference haha.

Looking great Austin! That stuff does a great job for frame paint, in my opinion! Keep up the great work!

Sweet thanks man!

I used braided SS brake lines on my trucks. Like the look and never had to worry about them. The frame came out looking PERFECT! Nice work!
Thanks!

Looks good. Am getting ready to redo the entire suspension on my 87. Probably going to refinish the frame while I am at it.

That thing is lookin mint. Can’t wait to see what’s next…
pretty mint the paint job man, it looks sooo awesome
exactly what I plan to do on my tundra
Looks good and good job. What's the best diesel conversion for a 2nd gen besides the Hilux?
Hello from Michigan where did you get that 415 from was that from Napa auto parts because I want to do my 95 S10 blazer frame.
Awesome build as always. Quick question is the bedside welded on these trucks or bolted on?
Welded I believe!

I’m not sure exactly what they use but it’s not good!
watching you apply the 415 is ASMR worthy
ngl it looks better this way amazing man👌👍

Dang I might have to try that!
Keep up the great content mate!!!
Do a lift kit and a roll pan instead of a rear bumper!! 🤩 and steele rims that are 16” and 10-11” wide with some good tires on 👌🏻😊
Whats the dimensions of your shop? Lots of room to work.
just wondering if you have a part number for the napa paint?
Ms7243

Great video. Bed looks great 👍👌💥😊
Howdy Austin, What are the dimensions of your shop?
36x36!
@@austinniemela Thank you, you should do a shop tour.
What’s the name of the purple degreaser that you and Devin use?
Simple green HD!

This is how I should've done my frame, mine isn't holding up well. Do you do UA-cam full time?
The por15 does a good job! Yes I am full time!
@@austinniemela definitely wish I would of heard of por15 when I was doing my V8 ranger project. That's awesome that you get to build trucks full time
чем покрывал раму? что за составы?
Great Job, Toyota cannot even do this kind of work on rusty frames on 2nd and 3rd gen Trucks.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 impresionante
👍
🍒 bro the Tacoma is looking good
Thanks!!
6:54 would be a good GIF

Agustín eres un crak capoo
Super👍
Thank you 👍
very nice my friend
👍😃
Has anyone ever hotdip galvanised a chassis? Just asking.
Woah first comment, I love this channel!
with out hardtop beautyful
So when are you going to do a V8 swap? You've done the 4cyl to six swap, gasoline to diesel swap, so now what's seems to be missing is the V8.

Next time. Don’t forget. Face mask
I have sprayed my trucks without masks before and my nostrils were covered in black paint spray, imagine what I inhaled... do wear a mask.
@@dundeeecroc Definitely do. Mask while taking the rust off primarily. Painting was Gd.
