Do it once and its not bad, transfer cases are a piece of cake, I was always breaking inputs. I learned from pirate4x4 and had to figured it out. There is so much information on there in the Toyota Bible anything you have questions on is in there you just have to find it!
I can’t get over how far you have come from the beginning with this truck! It looks so good and your videography has really improved. Love continuing to watch and seeing things I have never seen before. 💪🏼
Hey, one quick tip on those bearing splitters. Put the forged part of the splitter across the gap in the supports so there is no bending force on the threaded rods. otherwise you bend the rods and have to replace them. Ask me how I know :P
U made it look easy , that's the kind of thing i wouldn't think it would cost so cheap , you're literally becoming a pro at doing mostly everything in an engine that's pretty cool and we can always learn with you and that's pretty awesome as well , i understand u may want to sell big red but i would think u wouldn't ever sell it because it was the first project , but yeah things change and that may mean another cool project, but would be cool big red stay in the garage we like big red even with the uglier butt it still is Big Red ! At least do a dyno with both trucks I'm pretty curious because big red has a lot of stuff on it !
This is the most fascinating thing I’ve ever seen this year by far. Seeing that tranny getting washed dis and re-assembled is so dope. It’s pretty intimidating also interesting seeing all the labor and intricate work involved.
Beautiful truck if I was able drive a manual transmission truck I’d love to buy it. As far as I know nobody makes hand controls that work with a clutch.
@@garrett2717 it’s not that I don’t know how to drive a manual cause I started out driving a manual transmission. It’s that I’m a paraplegic now and everything has to be done with hand controls.
Awesome truck/build. I love the older body styles. You've put a lot of hours in it and it shows! Realistically speaking, what would you say the tow rating is for that chassis/powerplant?
Amazing build man, one of the cleanest toyotas on youtube. How do you like the w56 behind the diesel? I am in the process of swapping a R2.8 cummins in my 85 4runner, and praying it holds the 300+ ftlbs of torque lol.
Be honest. Did you have to watch the video footage a million times to get that all back together? This is some kinda black magic! The more I see of transmission rebuilding, the less I understand. Good for you though for getting it. Mad respect!
Another stellar job and a very entertaining and educational video! I'm still awaiting the diesel swap of the Suzuki Carry...... Maybe a little 3 cylinder Kubota engine off a zero turn mower like a Grasshopper or something similar.
Your a hell of a mechanic man,,just took my w56 and transfer cas to high gear in Memphis to have it gone through,,they said the transfer cases never wear out,,I told them that I wanted it gone through anyways because I had bad luck ,,so 1600 dollars later I got my transmission back in the truck And just like you that was the last thing that I haven’t went through on this truck,,super tight now with the transmission with all new bearings and syncs ,, I don’t have a lift like you do in the shop, but with the truck lifted and the big tires,,I put 2 big pieces of foam rubber on the edges of the cab just above the windshield ,I use a small chain around the cab and hook it back to itself,,then I use a 500 pound hoist and I got a small chain just I from of the shifter,,it balances pretty well,,and it goes back in just as easy
If anyone watched the build on the red Toyota, they would pay top dollar. Insurance companies could appraise the value of the truck. Have you considered doing a raffle?
Always enjoy watching your videos. But curious note on the green truck. Why does it sound like a lawnmower or old farm tractor when you start it up lol... almost want to put a rain flapper on the tail pipe... Don't get me wrong I like that truck. But chuckle when I hear it fire up.
I had a feeling that you were going to sell Big Red. If someone in Ca. were to buy BR, would she pass emissions with the diesel swap? She sure is a beauty! I know the guys in Hawaii would love it! Great job on the tranny rebuild and video, is the Hilux next?
Hi. i love your videos. my dad has an old hilux and i wish i could restore it just like you do with yours. i have a question. which is the minimum pressure required from a pressure washer for wet blasting and remove rust and paint from old cars? thanks in advance
hello Excellent explanation and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I need to change oil in my 98 manual 4x4 tacoma, I went to the agency and they only gave me 80w90 oil and they said that it applied for differential, transmission and transfer, I ask you, is that correct? Thank you very much for your comment
hi I'm really good I'm watching you and I'm doing a land cruiser 70 I have 2.4 td and I want to advise where to buy a set of bearings for the transmission. thank you very much Michal CZ
The transmission works 100% fine but you are completely dismantling it because you are what bored?lol Sorry old mechanic of 30 plus years here I guess I would have done this when I was young and still gave a 💩🤷♂️ Well done man nice trucks.
absolutely love the builds, and the quality, and your abilities.. and for that reason I would HATE to hear or see something happen to you... specifically your eyeballs while you're using the press. witnessed a buddies eye brake when impacted by a chunk of cast iron. emergency surgery and stitches all over it saved him, but just barely. i don't want to sound like a safety nazi but when it comes to the press.. please:)
Amazing bro! I wish I had your skills to take apart a transmission and put it back together

@@cgmwoodworx thanks for the info I’ll definitely look up that Toyota bible
Looked so clean… that power wash method works 👊 so much work. That truck is killer
You stripped that box like a surgeon. Awesome work
Sweet. Just dropped the trans out of mine and going to have to rebuild it. This will help!
These requires a lot of experience

Looks like you have down now!
Also the lift helped out a bunch too.
The water sand blaster works great
Maybe get a 10 x 10 shade and tarp the sides to make a sandblasting room that's easy to put up and take down.

Not really that hard to learn honestly
@@garrett2717 hand controls implying disability bruh

Is there really no hand control options for manuals? Seems like a missed market honestly
Looks much faster the 2nd time around. Think im gonna find a junkyard donor and give it a whirl.
Do it!!
Looks good! You need a slab outside your shop. I put one outside mine and can't believe how much I use it and how much cleaner the shop floor is.
I know but with mud prices it’s hard to spend that much!

In my mind, a hydraulic lift arm on the bed for cargo would be a perfect addition 🤔
Saludos amigo desde Bogota-colombia, que masestro excelentes trabajos, me divierto y aprendo viendo sus videos , muchas bendiciones

I'm planning rebuilding mine r150f later this year , using your other video as a guide .
Well you made that look really easy
what a skills, Amazing job like always!!
wont be the same without big red
I also think that way man but yeah ... we got to go what we got to do sometimes ...
Back in the 70's, it was groovy to have a Hurst shifter handle
enjoy at how many pieces of equipment/tools you have modified or made.

Maybe next add to the rearview mirror a air temperature, and compass, and a camera

Were you using Redline shockproof before the rebuild with the blue fluid?
Yes!
Watched the whole ad help the algorithm
Say, maybe in a future project, you could put a 4.3 V6 (from a Chevy S10) into a 1990 Toyota? XD
You should do a giveaway on the truck
I only found this channel yesterday and i already love it. Is Big Red also Diesel swapped or is it just a 22RE?
Nevermind. I looked way back in the videos and got my answer.
Man. This is not for the weekend DIY warrior that's for sure.🤣
If not use a torch wrench, how do you know the specific torch for every bolt?
Oh dude! This pressure washer attachment is so useful. Where i can buy these ?
I have a link in description!

Would that high pressure sandblaster be powerful enough to remove paint?
I have not tried it for that! It may but would be slow I'm sure

Not gonna lie I saw the video title and I was like what the heck lol
Forgive my ignorance, what transmission is that?
R150F
What’s the torque on bell housing bolts to the transmission it’s self not to the motor adapter
I need a rebuild kit for my R150F. Where do you get yours from?
I offer you 10 grand, LOL JK. Dang that was a bargain price on that rebuild kit. Good luck on the bidding war.

You amazed me all the time!
That transmision is a R151F ?
I want the Tacoma...
Would like to swap my automatic for a manual on my 02 2.4l
what center console do you have in red?
That’s from a 2nd gen 4runner!
What's with all the smoke on startup?
where do u get the mesh that u had on top of the bucket?
Just from a local steel shop!

what resources can you recommend so I can teach myself to rebuild that tranny as well?
