They got rid of the reactive multi-link double wishbone in back so the handling suffers the eighth generation had class leading handling right out of the box this one not so much..
great review, I love how you never review a car out of spite for a certain brand and actually respect every car. I personally bought my 2015 Si coupe a little less than a year, test drove the sti, evo X, and st. I liked them all, they are all fun but I thought the Si was the most fun and offered the most for the price and the best resale value.
I just bought one of these with 40,000 miles in pristine condition and I’m having a lot of fun with it. The appeal of this particular car for me was the fact that it was the last K series before the engine change and there’s just something special about a k series.
Got tagged with a hit and run a couple months ago. Almost made the decision to buy a 2024 model but then remembered this current market and car payments. Finally finished the body and suspension work and she's back in action. 170k miles (40 mpg) still running strong! Definitely not the fastest but like you said the style has grown on me and I have so much history with it glad to still have it. Hope you've been well!
I love my 9th gen Si coupe. Simplicity is key in a sporty car, with the mechanical LSD, manual cloth seats and no useless "sport" mode like you mentioned. It's the best car to zip around town in. Great review.
I love my 2013. Just another excellent Honda, and the K24 is an amazing engine. The key to accelerating smoothly and quickly with it is to flat foot shift.
The EM1 Civic Si had 160hp and the new one has 205. I guess it hasn't increased that much but it's not like the new Civic Si is slower. It's faster, has more features, is better on gas, safer, nicer inside etc... Of course nothing will ever be quite as special taking the EM1 Si up to 8,000 Rpms and shifting but I think we need to stop comparing new Honda's to Honda's of old and instead compare them to cars it competes with today. Not many cars truly live up to their predecessors from the 80s and 90s (except maybe the Mazda Miata). According to MT, a 2014 Civic Si (same as the '15) does 0-60 in 6.1-6.2 seconds while the 2015 Turbo Focus ST does 0-60 on 6.5 with 240hp versus the Civics 205. The numbers don't always tell the whole story. For the record I'd still prefer an EM1 over the 9th gen Civic but I'm playing devils advocate in favor of modern cars in general. (Nostalgia) I have no doubts the 2016 Civic Si will impress with its turbo engine.
*Nostalgia often plays a role in why we look at things as being better in the past than they were. That said, nothing impressive about the 9th gen Civic IMO. I'm expecting more from Honda in the future.
If you want to drive a fun Civic Si, review one of the 8th generation Si's. They were made from 2006-2011. I would love to see a review on an 8th generation.
It's the same thing as 05-08 mustangs and 09-13 mustangs they both look the same other than some projector headlights and led taillights. 8th and 9th gens look basically the same other than lights
Dmax734 don't think so buddy. The 8th gen civic Si has the best engine sound an on vtec range you'll definitely hear it. Not like the 9th k24. K20z3 ftw ; )
I don't comment much on these videos, but I just have to say the camera work in the intro was fantastic. The new crane just opened up a new world of shots. Nice work
I had a 400WHP Bugeye WRX before I got my 2015 Si Coupe. Literally double the power. At first, I was REALLY underwhelmed by the Si, it felt dead slow. But the longer I've had it, the more I like it. First off, it handles EXCELLENTLY, I had literally had to get Sway Bars, Coilovers and 245mm wide wheels on the WRX to get it to corner as well as the Si. This thing really handles corners well. And while not traditionally fast, the more time I spend with the K24, the more I like it. It just makes me want to rev it out all the time, but unlike the K20 before it, it's not useless below 5k rpm. I have really grown to like this car a lot.
The Civic with a K20 can hit 60 and 6.4 s*** the 2006 base model with a 5-speed can hit 60 in 7.7 ... Not super fast but an 8th generation fg2 will beat a brand new Honda Civic SI to 60 by over half a second....holla... 8th generation had class-leading handling right out of the box NA car of the Year motor trend coty the 9th or gen 8.5.. no sir
Espinox Yep, I looked at the description to find out what the name of the song was, new subs always ask him;" David, what was the name of the song that you used for the-" and so on XD
Erin Daring Ya I here you there, I never did like the BMW I3 from the moment I seen the first picture of it. I don't like the first re-incarnation Camaro because it seem's like its trying way to hard but failing completely. The latest camaro's a little better they refined the shape just that little bit to make it less boxy. The Z28 model track monster is the best looking one IMO. I love the new stang, got to test drive one today...love it!
Was coming into this video with negative expectations. I actually think this car looks and sounds beautiful. I would like a little more than 205HP, but I might be able to look past that since it's so light. Nice review as always!
Agreed about the light clutch. My foot usually falls to the floor in my '08 FA5 after driving my dad's 328 for some time. I got the same sensation sitting in this car at the dealer waiting for an oil change compared to my car.
ThatDudeinBlue I can tell you what your Model S review is going to be like. You're going to floor it, and realize how weird/scary/exhilarating it feels to be pushed back into your seat by a car that makes no sound. Then you'll spend 10 minutes trying to explain the feeling to people who've never driven a Model S. But they'll never understand until they experience it for themselves. Lol.
I would love a golf GTI or R review. I just got a rear wheel conversion kit for my GTI and it just makes the car soooo much better. Keep up the great content!
I bought the Si coupe in red last week. Way fun car man. Your review was far better than most. You accurately assessed the shifting and the vehicle overall, and in my opinion, the overall daily street fun with the Si is equal to or better than any other vehicle available.
Yeah the VTEC is very quiet stock compared to the 8th gens but the 9th gens can be loud with bolt ons. I just bought a 2012 in sunburst orange SI and its big fun. This is the first 6 speed car ive ever owned and I always think im gonna throw it in reverse when going 5th to 6th lol
Agree with you....I have am FA5 Si and adore it....front end is perfect. These 9th gen front ends have very awkward headlight & grill tapers & those fog light surrounds look like they're glued in. If I had a 9th gen. First mod would be a more minimalist front clip with an hid retrofit. IMHO .
I bought a 99 SI new and it was a great car. Traded it in on a new spa yellow S2000 with factory ground effects. Now that was a Vtech 9000 rpm. Currently drive a 2015 Camaro 1LE. Honda and Acura got soft over the years.
I liked it enough to buy one myself (2014 sedan Si). It's a great all around car. Taken many long road trips in it and it's fine. (31mpg is best I've managed. The A/C KILLS mpg.) 6 months in, do I wish I had gotten another car? Yeah maybe. Am I disappointed in owning it? No. The radio is a bit quirky, the shifter has some notchyness to it (sometimes feels like I'm grinding gears shifting it properly and slowly. Occasionally won't go into reverse while parked.), and the headlights suck (may soon be changed to the pro civic headlight unit). But other than that, practical, roomy, fun to drive, quiet, efficient, sleeper car status (it gets 0 attention from cops and car people alike). I know I won't lower mine after seeing this. That's lowered maybe an inch or two and already issues. Roads are bad around here and I'm not a big fan of STANCENATIONBREH. Cool car though man.
PhoenixNFA Vahag Chakerian Get Eibach Prokit springs and your all set. Iv'e had them on my 13 si for a year and iv'e never scrapped. It's about a 1.3"-1.5" drop.
'13 owner here... Yeah the reverse thing is annoying.. But at least you can put it into reverse while the car is still rolling... My Mazdaspeed3 you had to be at complete stop.
Finally. Someone who thinks the coupe looks better then the sedan. I love my coupe. Know its not "fast" or a race car...but it makes for a fun daily driver for sure.
I'm not sure if the comment about the pedals is entirely true since I've driven every type of Civic there is (I'm a Honda nerd...) but the pedals are pretty easy to heel toe... You have to turn your foot more than you think. It's definitely the EASIEST in the 8th gen Civic because the pedal is on the floor like a touring car! I wish they would've kept it because no other car I've driven had that feature and it was just so nice, even though it made the gas pedal overly sensitive, it was really good to train getting your foot "off" the gas since a lot of people tend to slightly ride it in between shifts even when they think they aren't. The rest is very true though... the car seems huge in comparison to older models, but solid!
I have a 2015 Sedan Si and it's a great car. It has the power to have fun around town without getting into a lot of trouble and it's so easy to drive( super light clutch and gear shifter). The only con is the gas mileage which kinda blows and it takes super. But other than that it's a fun little sports car.
What I like about David is that he isnt a close minded dude bro muscle car guy. Hes more appreciative of cars for what they are. Like the Si. A more practical daily driver that can be fun and sporty while getting good fuel economy.
Lol funny you mention the problem heel to toeing in the SI. After the first day of driving mine I ordered a RAZO gas petal and never looked back. Made for a big improvement in petal utility.
+thedudeinblue should really come check out the Hondas here in Malaysia 😉 we got so many types of Hondas such as the type-R AND they are right hand drive 😉😉😉
why are you winking?😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Afeeq Hasan So do Singapore. Best of all, here, we don't have car thieves trying to jack Civics all the time. It's so unsafe for a Singaporean to drive a Type R into Malaysia and left it parked quietly. How would you explain about Singaporean's having their Type R stolen while at Malaysia?
I daily drive my si and do 7 to 10 track days a year in it and and have competed In Golbal Time Attack with it as well. The only thing I have done to it maintnes wise. Changed the oil tires and brake pads that's it. And over 100k miles of hard driving.
+ HJ Farooqi I wont argue that it has more than an S2000, but still you have to qualify it with "for a 4 cylinder." Of course, slap on a turbo and you wont have that problem anymore.
Congratulations ***** you know how to start an argument with an ad hominem attack without knowing anything about me, lol. I'm well aware of the affect gear ratios have. Stating what the final torque to the wheels of a Civic is irrelevant to your argument. In fact, it could be used against you. That car takes a 4.77 final drive to achieve that number, yet a car such as mine, a 98 Mustang GT, originally came with a 3.08 final drive. In first gear, the rated output of 285 ft-lb becomes nearly 3000 at the wheels in first. I'm sure anyone with knowledge of a stock 98 Mustang would agree the Civic would embarrass it in a race desipite having more torque at the wheels. How could that be when the Mustang has more torque? Now a common upgrade is installing 3.73 or 4.10 gears in the differential. Final torque reaches nearly 4000 ft-lbs in first gear at the wheels. Does it make the Mustang faster? Not really. It'll feel faster, but the Honda would still beat the Mustang assuming it was otherwise stock besides the final drive ratio. Gearing matters, but it's more about getting the engine in to its optimal operating range faster. It has little to do with an assumption with it actually increases useable power to the wheels. If you've ever driven a gear swapped car, you'd understand that instead of trying to insult me and attempt to give some rudimentary physics leeson. Torque produced at the crank is more important than gear ratio because you can only give it so much gear before the engine runs out of rpm, of which the K24 has about 1000 less than the old K20.
***** your numbers on hp/ton are incorrect and do nothing to support your argument. What are you even arguing about? A stock 98 GT had 225 hp from the factory and weighed about 3300 lbs. A 9th gen Si has what, 205 now? With a weight of only 2850ish. They're both 15 second cars. I know the Honda would win because I lived it once when my car was unmodified a long time ago lolol. Even with gearing, the Honda wins. Swapping gears can only shave a couple tenths off 1/4 mile time with good traction. The increased torque from gearing is offset by the increased engine speed necessary relative to wheel speed. Try to cite physics all you want, but gearing the hell out of a car only goes so far. Would you consider a 4wd-lo range on an off road vehicle to be optimal for acceleration? Of course not because the engine speed is limited. While you now have increased torque to pull yourself out of mud or up a steep rock cliff, you can only do so at very low speed. Same thing applies to performance cars. You could throw 4.56 gears at an older Mustang if you want. You'll do great burnouts, but it still won't be fast until the powerband of the engine itself is improved. And you'll still lose to that Si, although it's lack of torque is assisted by its own gearing. This isn't because of gearing, but because it has a more useful powerband to generate power. Yes I do know that horsepower is a mathematical function of torque and rpm, or work and time since you seem to love perpetuating a knowledge of physics. Thank you.
The first time I heard the song big spender was the video of 2 s2000s. One blue and the other yellow. It'd just funny that is the song used here as well. Awesome vid.
At first I was like... This is the first time I think David got the music wrong... But i didnt wait long enough... another great choice, I shouldnt of doubted you for a second!
New cars in general are so big. This civic is almost the size of my mother's honda odyssey. Cars like the new sti and wrx are almost the same size as the minivan aswell. Thats why I like old cars, so much smaller and more sporty looking. this 2015 civic si looks nice lowered with the nice wheels too. but its still GIANT lol.
not old american cars. american cars in general are giant. japanese cars and german (non super cars) are typically small(er). like 70s-90s hondas/nissans/bmw etc. all small cars . also like 90/early 2000's evos and what not. they weren't big at all. NOW they're HUGE. Grim Wolf X
Dest Droid You must be living in a cave... The new Civic type R lapped the ring in 7:50 beating GTR's,911's,lambos,etc. All for 30k. They have a lot of hype. www.car24news.com/the-new-honda-civic-type-r-is-faster-than-the-nissan-gt-r-and-gallardo-lp-560-4/
That Car Guy the type r has hype especially since its finally turbo and coming to the US, not this ugly duckling, the previous gen si looked and seemed way better
Dest Droid It's still the same body styling and hence why people get them in the USA. USA might not get the type-r , so people will throw their own turbos on them. It's the next best thing for them.
Andrew Mckay They look similar to me. I haven't been a fan of Civics from 2001-2014(too heavy) but man when the new type R came out it came out swinging.
11:10 Lol you want the torque-steer back?? For modders/tuners, all that "new" weight should help them put the power to the ground & prevent "spin". Combined with lower tire pressure, the extra weight could help in rain/ snow too right bro?
There's no way you went 300k miles without changing tranny fluid it would be slugde. And if you have then you abuse cars. If you really own a Honda with those issues it's probably because you can't drive and you abuse your cars. The auto's in Honda's is a real issue, they make glass automatics. far as I'm aware that's the only issue Honda's have had. They're still rated in the top 5 most reliable cars in the world. Ford isn't even in the top 10. Every Ford I've been around has had nothing but problems. We had a 90's thunderbird and that thing was constantly breaking down. parts were cheap and wore out quickly. Even with regular maintenance. I'm glad someone finally crashed into that piece of crap. Every American car my family has owned has been trash. Grandparents have a 2004 dodge pick up and it's had like 3 tranny rebuilds, it has a blown head gasket, only 239k miles. All my cars are JDM, no major issues other than regular maintenance. I have a Geo metro with close to 400k miles and it's never broken down. Engine has never been apart, original head gasket. I do have a Acura integra that needs a engine rebuild but it's not the cars fault. It's the way it was driven. It still runs and drives fine though, even with low compression.
I have a 2008 Si Sedan and I love it, I have an intake and reflash and some slightly wider tires and it's a fun car. If it had come with 230-250 hp from factory it would have been a lot better. And the newer Si's have great seats, they hold you in well. Over all for a sporty daily it's a good car, just needs more power. I would definitely get a newer one but I'm aiming towards the new WRX, AWD would be nice for a change, however I did check out a 2015 at a dealer and it's very nice.
i have 86 yes 86 crx si. the foot wehls is wide bc it was made for everyday driving. as in u can drive with boots. when i drive to work i change shoes bc i hit the brake with my boots when i shift or anything there so close ive stalled out alot in my boots. when i first got it.
I never understood why people think vtec is good. All it's doing is giving you what the engine should be giving. Why wouldn't you want a car that gives that power all the time? Never understood. Only good thing Honda makes is bikes
It improves low end power too, I don't want to go into too much detail but having VTEC on all the time would mean worse performance and fuel consumption at low rpm, this is because VTEC, pushes a pin out when the desired oil pressure is achieved and activates the higher lift rocker, valves open more and this means more air and fuel can go in, also since its so easy to stay above 5.5k when driving on a back road or track and stay below it for normal town driving, I don't see why you would want it on constantly.
David have you ever drove a 8 gen Civic Si? Those are said to be one of the last true Si cause its more hyper than the newer 9 gens. Would be sick if you review one
Yes they would. I have a '12 civic si and I'd rather have the newer si's than get an old base model civic dx and putting parts from the higher trim models
TheNuke95 lol i know, but like you have your opinions i have mine. it's not like i think what you like is garbage. it's just not what im use to thats all
Great review, man! I've been waiting to see what you thought of my daily driver. I gotta say I was almost convinced that I should lower mine until the train-tracks. Overall, I'd say I've really enjoyed mine.
over a year into ownership of one and still enjoy it. it would be nice to have a bit more power in the lower end but dont want to sacrifice any more mpg. good balance i think as it is, even though ive been looking at supercharging kits... worried about reliability issues tho hahah so torn
Love your videos. Lived in Richmond va for about 5 years and moved to Portsmouth va last year. I'm saving up for a new ride and when its set I would love for you to do a video on it.
Dont care what anyone says, I love the look of Hondas...
What about now???
Certain ones yeah like early 8th generations with that steep rake in the windshield that one motion profile is a rolling piece of artwork
solid review my man !! keep em coming!! hope to see a G35 on here soon :P
TheSLAPTrain1 It should be yours.
Your old intro song at the video's begin
Slap and david you guys should do a clab vid forza or something oh and david should review your g35 that'll be awesome
#SLAPNATION
woah what are you doing here bro!!?
The V-tech is like "YEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH *shift* aaawwweeeeeYEEEEEEEAAAAHHHH *shift*"
Perfect bruv 👌
This generation Si doesn't really feel heavier; if anything it actually feels quick due to a bigger motor with more torque.
They got rid of the reactive multi-link double wishbone in back so the handling suffers the eighth generation had class leading handling right out of the box this one not so much..
I want one. Not only for the looks, but it a Honda so it'll be reliable, at a starting price it comes loaded.

Have a great day.
I see what you did there! Slaptrain1's intro song! Nice!
Slap train song David?
Yessir. Giving credit where credit is due for a friend.
ThatDudeinBlue nice!
You are my favorite youtuber!!! Theslaptrain uses that song in his intro
I love my 9th gen Si coupe. Simplicity is key in a sporty car, with the mechanical LSD, manual cloth seats and no useless "sport" mode like you mentioned. It's the best car to zip around town in. Great review.
i guess im the only person that find this car great looking. I would love to own a 4 door.
if I was gonna get the 9th gen I'd get a coupe but if I got the 8th gen I'd get a sedan. I have a 95 civic hatch right now.
Jack Joachim me to live 2015 Si
Henry Kurek I know this was long ago but they are really only 2 inches longer, I love mine!
i love the 9th gen si. but i love my 10th gen 2020 si sedan waaaaaay more.
Jack Joachim i own a white fb6 lov it
I love my 2013. Just another excellent Honda, and the K24 is an amazing engine.
The key to accelerating smoothly and quickly with it is to flat foot shift.
2900 pounds is light for a car today.
ER B Yeah but these hondas were always ridiculously light so yeah its not the same
ER B 3000 pounds. Used to be a lot lighter and the power hasn't really increased all that much over the last 15+ years
My s13 is around the weight of the Brz and frs

I hear you but it would be interesting to see the difference between the high Rev 2.0 8th gen Vs the 2.4 9th Gen for a review
Dmax734 don't think so buddy. The 8th gen civic Si has the best engine sound an on vtec range you'll definitely hear it. Not like the 9th k24. K20z3 ftw ; )

Briantothegamer Yep! "Big Spender" by Carnage
Espinox Yep, I looked at the description to find out what the name of the song was, new subs always ask him;" David, what was the name of the song that you used for the-" and so on XD
Still uses....
Briantothegamer yes sir :P
As far as hideous cars go, this car is not nearly as bad as some of them out there right now. Looking at you, BMW i3.
The i3 is a travesty
Erin Daring The new Jeep Cherokee and Renegade are up there too.
Erin Daring The latest gen Camaro....fuggly as hell.
I actually don't mind the new Camaro. I just have a problem with boxy cars that are meant to look modern yet look.... like boxy children's toys.
He can say what he want but...the smile in his face when vtec kicks in! it nevers lie! lol!
Finally a 9th gen! Would've been nice to hear what mods he had (other than the DC hot air intake lol).
Car looks like shit xD
Caligrown92511 Your mom looks like shit
Caligrown92511 horrible cars
jamie mitchell The Civic? Nope, saying Civics are horrible is due to ignorance.
Lol that is fuggly
Not a car I would be interested in, but somehow your reviews always make any car interesting :).
Was coming into this video with negative expectations. I actually think this car looks and sounds beautiful. I would like a little more than 205HP, but I might be able to look past that since it's so light. Nice review as always!
Waiting for Tj Hunt to post a really try hard corny comment and have everyone like it. Any minute now...
This made my day XD
Made my day as well
Ryan Jung I'm just waiting on him to post a video that's just like David's.
Nigga you know I'm playin'!
Guess that never happened XD
Agreed about the light clutch. My foot usually falls to the floor in my '08 FA5 after driving my dad's 328 for some time. I got the same sensation sitting in this car at the dealer waiting for an oil change compared to my car.
Do you have any reviews of the Tesla's coming up? That would be an awesome review, something different.
David Mudrik I'd love too, but no owners have let me yet. Denied. haha.
ThatDudeinBlue Dang, well i'm sure someone will in the future. Time will tell.
Have heard those things? Me neither. lmao
Lol.
David Mudrik Please no,
I would love a golf GTI or R review. I just got a rear wheel conversion kit for my GTI and it just makes the car soooo much better. Keep up the great content!
mark my words this car will be in high demand as the years go on, given the way engines are going towards turbos now.
I have this car 2015 coupe in Taffeta white. Completely stock and 67k mileage. Currently thinking about an exhaust
I hope to get one soon before that comes into play, just not sure if I want a Coupe or Sedan.
I bought the Si coupe in red last week. Way fun car man. Your review was far better than most. You accurately assessed the shifting and the vehicle overall, and in my opinion, the overall daily street fun with the Si is equal to or better than any other vehicle available.
This is my daily, i have been researching coilovers. Which ones does he have or you would recommend? Thanks!
The back looks good, front? Hell no.
Yeah it's too busy
Agree with you....I have am FA5 Si and adore it....front end is perfect. These 9th gen front ends have very awkward headlight & grill tapers & those fog light surrounds look like they're glued in. If I had a 9th gen. First mod would be a more minimalist front clip with an hid retrofit. IMHO .
TheBuinessZ I actually like the front... it looks aggressive.
Coffee please I'n my opinion it has too much going on. Make's it look 100% rice and I'm a muscle fan myself.
TheBuinessZ The black ones don't look awful, kinda hides the strange black pieces around the fog lights and grille.
The part where you talked about the shift knob getting hot is so true. I drive a 2003 mach 1 with the original shifter and that thing gets so hot!
My brother just bought one of these... OMG toooooo much fun
The A/C KILLS mpg.)
6 months in, do I wish I had gotten another car?
Haha I've got a 13 so and I agree with you. Great car for a daily, and maybe would lower it. But only about 1.5 inches lower and nothing more.
JPalm weird...mine you have to be COMPLETELY stopped or it will grind for days
Yeah when I first got my si I was going about 5 mph and put it in reverse.... Thought I broke the car
Finally. Someone who thinks the coupe looks better then the sedan.
I love my coupe. Know its not "fast" or a race car...but it makes for a fun daily driver for sure.
"hey maaaaaan whats going on maaaaan, damn maaaaaan"
-Slaptrain
i recently bought a 2012 civic si as my first car i absolutely love this thing
for the record i burn my hand on my stock si shift knob when its hot out alllllllll the time.
me too!!
I use a beer coozie over it. works pretty good.
The reason of the vtec light is because since the 9th gen, the vtec is not too much of a screammer like the 8thgen has
I love my vtec screaming 9 gen vtec soft until downpipe and exhaust
Where's the SQ5? The hype for that review is growing!
YEESH!!!!
Couldn't stop thinking about The Slap Train during the intro
Think there's any way we can see more of Ryans civic?
You can follow me on ig till we get time to do the video @madhatter_em1
Personally, I really like the front end on that Civic. With those mods the car looks very good, maybe with some other rims though.
11:00 You joking right? You didn't really think 174 lbs ft of torque would break the wheel loose n 2nd.?
Needs more power like 240hp.
matt1315s one day my friend....one day lol
I would rather get a used G37 honestly you can get a nice one for 25k and you get over 300hp Just my opinion.
matt1315s Used cars are always a better value.
Tyler Anderson The day has come. Just buy a type R when they come out or a used s2k
***** That's true and the Honda does have more torque being a 2.4L. But of course the FRS can drift!
I like heavy shifter with that notchy feel too. I drove a '10 Civic Si and the shifter gave me the impression that I was driving a toy, not a car.
Hey man can you do a eg civic could please cause I have one and there really good ?
me too man I love my eg!
He'll ya I have a few vids on my Channel of mine and I'm only 12 lol
I have one too! Great car!
I've done a boosted B20 EG actually.
Ya but that was a sedan and btw that was my fav vid
Same as your friend I went from the EP3 to the FB6! Love em both for different reasons.
Nice Coupe! I love my Sedan a lot more
I'm sick so I'm at home watching your old Honda videos to make me feel better :)
It hooks because 404 Torque not found.
(I know it now has 174 vs the old 139, but that is still nothing.)
Your right about the front end. But once it's lowered or slammed it looks pretty clean. Especially the grey ones.
rather get a FRS. both equal in power but frs more appealing imo
I have a 2015 Sedan Si and it's a great car. It has the power to have fun around town without getting into a lot of trouble and it's so easy to drive( super light clutch and gear shifter). The only con is the gas mileage which kinda blows and it takes super. But other than that it's a fun little sports car.
SlapTrains intro music lol, nice review.
What I like about David is that he isnt a close minded dude bro muscle car guy. Hes more appreciative of cars for what they are. Like the Si. A more practical daily driver that can be fun and sporty while getting good fuel economy.
Si
[S]lightly [I]mproved.
Lol funny you mention the problem heel to toeing in the SI. After the first day of driving mine I ordered a RAZO gas petal and never looked back. Made for a big improvement in petal utility.
+thedudeinblue should really come check out the Hondas here in Malaysia 😉 we got so many types of Hondas such as the type-R AND they are right hand drive 😉😉😉
why are you winking?😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Haha idk
xXxWarrioRxXx80
Afeeq Hasan So do Singapore. Best of all, here, we don't have car thieves trying to jack Civics all the time. It's so unsafe for a Singaporean to drive a Type R into Malaysia and left it parked quietly. How would you explain about Singaporean's having their Type R stolen while at Malaysia?
Galleon Chua when?
What kind of rims were on that civic, were they bbs 2 pieces? also good review man hope to see an s60r and a b5 s4 soon keep it up
HEY BIG SPENDER!!!! #SlapArmy
Finally, was waiting for a newer gen civic review. Great video, keep up the good work!
LIKE! if you remembered THE SLAP TRAIN lol
Love driving Honda's especially the S2K but yea sweet review man as always!
WHEEL SPECS?
WHEEL SPECS?
WHEEL SPECS?
When the car intro song started I was like "What is going on everyone it's ya boy the slap train!" 😂
lol wrong intro song for a civic si. Id say only a car over 40k should be using theophilus london
Hater
YoungClickClack _Fanboy._
Lol I feel this dudes hate
How much hate can a hater hate lmao
lol i literally said nothing about the car other than mention that its inexpensive..
I daily drive my si and do 7 to 10 track days a year in it and and have competed In Golbal Time Attack with it as well. The only thing I have done to it maintnes wise. Changed the oil tires and brake pads that's it. And over 100k miles of hard driving.
It hooks from a roll because it lacks torque lol
+ HJ Farooqi I wont argue that it has more than an S2000, but still you have to qualify it with "for a 4 cylinder." Of course, slap on a turbo and you wont have that problem anymore.
Robert Cary Lol my old 09 si would chirp seconds sometimes. Thats about it xD fun to drive around but not fast
HJ Farooqi
Turbo 4
Clean A'f
Slow A'f
Clean as fuck? You might need to get your eyes checked.
I was wondering if could have more acceleration shots, and flybys and stuff like that. That would be my only critic of your videos. Awesome Job dude!
David was trying really hard not to say ricer
Your dumb af
christian garcian *He's the dumb one, yet you can't spell?*
Not even close to rice...
Not really, I film Hondas all the time.
great job at being simple-minded... you clearly don't even know what "ricer" means
At first I was like... This is the first time I think David got the music wrong... But i didnt wait long enough... another great choice, I shouldnt of doubted you for a second!
Can I put a vtec light on my volkswagen?
Yup
You have one.. It's called a check engine light
Jermaine Simpson how 'old' are you even talking, because the real old cars are yachts in comparison.
not old american cars. american cars in general are giant. japanese cars and german (non super cars) are typically small(er).
like 70s-90s hondas/nissans/bmw etc. all small cars . also like 90/early 2000's evos and what not. they weren't big at all.
NOW they're HUGE. Grim Wolf X
Jermaine Simpson fair enough.
I know the intro song... TheSlapTrain...
ive never heard of the song the slap train?whats the artist called?
He's got it in the video description
i know i was joking cuz it sounded like he was talking about a song called the slap train
Nice to meet you this weekend! Had fun hanging out in the air lift booth 👍 feel free to stop by again next year and say hi!
People are still buying these things?
Dest Droid You must be living in a cave... The new Civic type R lapped the ring in 7:50 beating GTR's,911's,lambos,etc. All for 30k. They have a lot of hype. www.car24news.com/the-new-honda-civic-type-r-is-faster-than-the-nissan-gt-r-and-gallardo-lp-560-4/
That Car Guy the type r has hype especially since its finally turbo and coming to the US, not this ugly duckling, the previous gen si looked and seemed way better
That Car Guy I'm sorry I must've missed the Type R in this review.
Sedans look better !!!
I love the way this car sounds inside the cabin...nice and throaty!
I think honda engines sound wonderful. Sure as hell sounds better than those 30 year old shitboxes they still use in Subarus.
But but but..... subie rumble :(
They finally updated the wrx engine. Sti still gets the scraps again.
Quasar aren't honda engines the butt jokes of worst sounding engines?? Stereotypes have some facts behind them.........
Honda for reliability. The ej's suck ass
Miguel Garcia how? You musnt really know the sound of a highcompression naturally aspirated 4cylinder ricer.
when I heard that song I couldn't help but hear Slaps voice in my head say "what is going on everybody it's ya boy TheSlapTrain" haha
I don't see why you would pay for an si when a focus st is the same price
Because price isn't the only deciding factor when purchasing a vehicle.
Trey Young your everywhere
I would definitely get a newer one but I'm aiming towards the new WRX, AWD would be nice for a change, however I did check out a 2015 at a dealer and it's very nice.
the first honda thats not a ricer
i have 86 yes 86 crx si. the foot wehls is wide bc it was made for everyday driving. as in u can drive with boots. when i drive to work i change shoes bc i hit the brake with my boots when i shift or anything there so close ive stalled out alot in my boots. when i first got it.
I never understood why people think vtec is good. All it's doing is giving you what the engine should be giving. Why wouldn't you want a car that gives that power all the time? Never understood. Only good thing Honda makes is bikes
i said the exact thing to my dad the other day
It improves low end power too, I don't want to go into too much detail but having VTEC on all the time would mean worse performance and fuel consumption at low rpm, this is because VTEC, pushes a pin out when the desired oil pressure is achieved and activates the higher lift rocker, valves open more and this means more air and fuel can go in, also since its so easy to stay above 5.5k when driving on a back road or track and stay below it for normal town driving, I don't see why you would want it on constantly.
Dude👍 . Tell that that to a honda fan boy that'll shut him up hahaha
Chris Alfonso Everyone has VVT these days. VTEC isn't even the best kind, but it's good.
in vvt u barely can hear it i feel like honda just exaggerates it
David have you ever drove a 8 gen Civic Si? Those are said to be one of the last true Si cause its more hyper than the newer 9 gens. Would be sick if you review one
A real Honda enthusiast wouldn't own a 2015 civic LOL
Yes they would. I have a '12 civic si and I'd rather have the newer si's than get an old base model civic dx and putting parts from the higher trim models
TheNuke95 nothing says "classic" like a 90's civic.
yeah 90's si or integra gsr or type r not the base models of those cars
TheNuke95 lol i know, but like you have your opinions i have mine. it's not like i think what you like is garbage. it's just not what im use to thats all
Great review, man! I've been waiting to see what you thought of my daily driver. I gotta say I was almost convinced that I should lower mine until the train-tracks. Overall, I'd say I've really enjoyed mine.
1 year later shes still running strong! the taste of a little power makes me want a bit more. thats how they get us maybe but type r?
over a year into ownership of one and still enjoy it. it would be nice to have a bit more power in the lower end but dont want to sacrifice any more mpg. good balance i think as it is, even though ive been looking at supercharging kits... worried about reliability issues tho hahah so torn
Love your videos. Lived in Richmond va for about 5 years and moved to Portsmouth va last year. I'm saving up for a new ride and when its set I would love for you to do a video on it.
The song is Carnage-Big Spender original one is from Theophilus London ft A$AP Rocky
I never thought I would like the newer Civic Si's but dayyyymmmm that one is clean!
Great video!
I'm also a huge quagmire fan so I appreciate the giggity. It's actually why I clicked! 🤣🤣🤣
