The lyrics are genius...and Mel Brooks is a comedy legend and genius!! Shame there isn't more people in the world like him, as he brings a smile to everything he touches...
Can you imagine this being recorded now ? The world doesn’t seem to understand satire anymore. Mel Brooks is a genius who has used his comedic skills to get his revenge.
Best part of "To be or not to be" Movie was Adolf parachuting over Britain at night, entering into a pub and asking... Is this England??? and the reaction of the patrons... Priceless!
Co-written, produced and largely played by Pete Wingfield (fantastic Minimoog solo) who also produced Five Star in the b80's (well, the records were good!). One of the more genuine people in the music biz in my experience.
Watched "Life Stinks" and needed more Mel so I jammed to this after the movie. 8 days later, I'm at work and still singing this in my head all day. Too bad it's not really a "socially acceptable" song to sing out loud.
The only crime here is How f*cking amazing this Track is grooving!!! One of the Songs that made me wanna be a composer when I was a little boy...(Did not understand the lyrics at all back then!)
I remember the movie to be or not to be from and with Mel Brooks, i watched it at cinema in the 80ties. Great nazi comedy with funny Slapstick, ( SS colonel Schultz hahahahaha 😂) IT was a Remake of the First movie at the beginning of the 40ies, during WW2 in Black and white with Elliot Ness - Robert Stack. It was also a wonderful comedy. I like both movies. Thankyou for uploading
Mel had to have been 50 here. It was 1983, 4 years after the first rap single, and a guy that old knowing what rap even was that early on is really impressive, especially since he'd been in show business for a long time at that point.
There's just something about this era that always ensnares me. America at it's best. A Jew able to joke about Nazi's what a different time! I may be young but ever since I found this back in high school I still hum it every now and then, cheers!
Just noticed the uploader blacked out his armband, and this was uploaded in 2010! The irony of blacking out a swastika on your upload of a politically incorrect parody
For anyone offended, Mel Brooks *is* Jewish. He also fought in WW2. If *ANYONE* has the right to make fun of Adolf Fucking Hitler, it's this guy.
thanks for the info son
I think we need to Mick russian Guy WHO Riders in bears
Well said son 👏
I thinks you still missed the problem

This is such a banger; you get a groovy beat, sick rhymes and a history lesson all rolled into one.
Mel Brooks is a goddamn genius.
It sounds like a mid-late 90s style, but it came out like 10 years before all of that stuff! Great omni-talented monster, Mel Brooks.

Now thé Germany people are fantastic tthey LOVE Israël
Funny thing is, the part "Don't be stoopid, be a smarty, join the nazi party!" was also used in The Producers.
Same author.
Mel Brooks wrote "The Producers" which was remade hence his cameo.
Same with "Heil Myself", he did some recycling because he cares about the environment
Same universe.
Most intelligent comment here.
Mel Brooks' singing voice sounds kind of like Scatman John.
Never noticed this before, but indeed you're right.
Sounds sort of Black; which shows Mel's creative genius!😇 Bless his best friend Carl Reiner😇.
You mean Scatman John sounds like Mel Brooks...
it somehow manages to be smooth but raspy at the same time
Mel B. was much earlier...
The "Don't be stupid, be a smarty! Come and join the Nazi party!" callback to The Producers is 😎😂🧐. Keyboard solo is magnificent.
"we had an election, kinda, sorta"
Mel made history with his jokes, and we all learned to laugh so hard, thanks Mel .
5:54 A standing ovation please for that magnificent keyboard solo!
That keyboardplayer is a killer. What a solo … Today you will find nothing like this in popular Music.
The lyrics are genius...and Mel Brooks is a comedy legend and genius!! Shame there isn't more people in the world like him, as he brings a smile to everything he touches...
En 2022 , le bruit de bottes !!!!

This feels like he's mocking The Alt-Right embarrassment, but 30 years in advance. It's literally the same absurdity.
😑
Exactly 🙌🙌🙌🙌
.🤔😑.
That thought crossed my mind too. This is just hilarious!
starting at 5.35 the orchestra is amazing, and whoever wrote the lyrics is a genius
Agree
Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner wrote it.

Only the guy (Mel Brooks) who came up with 'Springtime for Hitler' could come up something like this XD!!
They said, 'Watcha' Got Adolph? Whatcha' Gonna do?'.....
How about this one; world war two!
-synthesizer intensifies-
They *had* to ask...

Five Star < Nazism
I have learned more about Hitler in this than in school.
ikr
At least a part of this should've been included in the credits of the film, "To Be or Not to Be"
Watched "Life Stinks" and needed more Mel so I jammed to this after the movie. 8 days later, I'm at work and still singing this in my head all day. Too bad it's not really a "socially acceptable" song to sing out loud.
“We have ways of making you dance.” Best line in the track.
Get back, Jack! You can't get down!
This song is incredible, If it didn't have the Hitler subject it would of been a massive massive hit. The beat, The chorus is so catchy. It Grooves
Why is it so catchy?!!
A la the Dick Clark Show - because you can dance to it!

I got the wrong message and actually became one, Fucc !
Fucking GENIUS... This is why Mel is the greatest comic ever :D
Seriously underrated track and not very well known which is sad because it's really awesome, I have this on vinyl and it sounds awesome.
One thing's for sure: The defeat of the nazis really improved German music.
Eh, Nazi era music was actually pretty comparable to the pop music of the time
The only crime here is How f*cking amazing this Track is grooving!!!

He's very funny with his songs Mel Brooks!!! I like it!!! My 2nd favourite song after It's Good to be the King!!!

HOW ABOUT THIS ONE. Christmas foil full of nuts. Another Coffee Here Please, Brian K
I could watch Triumph of the Will 1000 times and not be convinced as much as this song does
Oh my god… it’s a TNO reference. No way. Martin Bormann (funni desk man) reference. Waow.
Co written with Pete Wingfield who also wrote the hit 18 with a Bullet
Must have seen it dozen times. Always relevant.
A living legend. Forever.

Brilliant ! One of the funniest songs ever .
It's not what you can do for your country, it's what I can do to your country. (A.H.)
Now this is fünky
Does anyone know where I can get the chord chart for this song?
