Of course none of the rail crossings being eliminated are for existing rail service - only for future [who knows when?] HSR service, and they NOW force motorists and trucks to go miles out of the way to get to an overcrossing. As for grade separations, NONE of the grade separations for existing rail lines are operational yet, and many are still only in the planning stages. Meanwhile, current HSR construction in the Central Valley is pumping (either directly or through manufacture of steel and concrete) literally MILLIONS of tons of GHG into the air, and using the state's GHG emissions cap and trade funds to do it!
