      Exactly! I would love to get to tour this exhibit in person, but Sacramento is a long drive from SoCal.
      Maybe it could be shown at the LA County Fair, or even the OC Fair. Both those areas will have HSR access before Sacramento does, given LA and Anaheim are part of Phase 1 and Sacramento is Phase 2.

      @@Mike__B the first six trains are funded and projected to begin testing in 2028, with the initial service between Merced and Bakersfield to start in 2030-33. Final design of the trains and selection of the train manufacturer, between Siemens and Alstom, will both occur by the end of this year.
      This mock-up is based on public input and is not the final design for the train interiors. It was just meant to show some of what is being considered and to get more feedback.

    How much did this cost? When you are out of money you shouldn't: 1. Make UA-cam videos, 2. Make a mock-up station at a fair and most important, 3. DON'T RE-INVENT THE WHEEL BY DESIGNING THE RAIL CARS! Buy rail cars off the shelf!

      There additional costs to designing your own interiors is minimal. The costs to make youtube videos is minimal. What's really a waste of space is your obtuse comment.

      It's not that simple this is a project decades in the making. Without public outreach, the only thing we'd be hearing is citizens complaining that it will never be completed. Exhibits and videos like this are necessary to communicate the progress of the project and to keep it in the public spotlight.

    • @js9522
      @js9522 22 дні тому

      @@LimitedWardThe primary reason people are complaining is the $120+ BILLION that the cost of this project has grown to, when originally approved by voters at around $30 Billion. With our state in a considerable deficit and the state government continuing to overspend and passing the bill on to tax payers while some of the highest tax payers continue to move out of state.

    • @ChrisJones-gx7fc
      @ChrisJones-gx7fc 22 дні тому

      @@js9522 it was estimated at $45 billion when voters approved Prop 1A, and that bond measure only covered 1/5 of the cost at the time with the expectation the other 4/5 would be found relatively quickly from other state, federal and private sources, which in hindsight wasn’t a good way to fund such a massive project. The HIGH end cost estimate for the entire SF-Anaheim route is $128 billion, while the base cost estimate is at $106 billion, and that includes the $28 billion allocated so far.
      The biggest reason it’s estimated to cost so much now is because it’s taking so long to fund, and the longer that continues to take the more it’s gonna end up costing, same as with any other project. The only funding it’s got from the state was the $9 billion in Prop 1A and about $1 billion/year in state cap and trade funds. The only other funding, totaling $4-5 billion so far, has come from the feds, for a total of $28 billion allocated to the project, out of which about $13 billion has been spent so far. Last fiscal year alone, Caltrans spent $18 billion on freeways (see CA State Transportation Budget FY2022-23).

      @ChrisJones-gx7fc 20 днів тому +1

      Yes, it is embarrassing that the self-proclaimed greatest country on Earth is still so far behind the rest of the developed world with its lack of high speed rail.
      California is the first state to finally change that with building the nation’s first high speed rail system. It’s had its challenges, both by its own doing but overwhelmingly by things outside its control, most of which have been resolved, but progress continues to happen. Events like this showcase that and gives the public insight into exactly what is going on, as do the routine construction progress and other informative videos they post online.

    • @ChrisJones-gx7fc
      @ChrisJones-gx7fc 20 днів тому +2

      You’ll probably say something about how we don’t need it cause “we’re either too spread out” or “it’ll take away our freedom to drive,” when there are a number of city pairs, including LA and SF, that are close enough together and have the annual travel numbers to support a high speed rail system, and that HSR provides another travel option, not take any away.
      All the countries with HSR, and good transit systems, still have plenty of people who drive and fly. By providing a competitive alternative that’s usually more convenient and comfortable, not to mention faster for mid-distance travel (100-500 miles), HSR helps take some of the pressure off those other options, making life easier for those who’ll continue to use them. Same will be the case in the US, including California.
      No one will force you to take the train, just as no one forces you to fly, but for many our cities and travel between them are set up so they are forced to drive or fly, because there’s no competitive alternative, if any alternative. High speed rail is that alternative, outcompeting driving and flying and thus encouraging those who currently have to use one of those options to take HSR instead.

      @@richardtaylor5948 in what way? Elaborate. Don’t just hate it cause you hate it. Why do you hate it?
      I support HSR cause we‘ve long needed another way of getting between NorCal and SoCal. The alternative of adding more freeway lanes will still mean an average six hour drive between LA and SF, and expanding airports is a finite solution that won’t make flying any less stressful or more convenient. High speed rail is a proven alternative to relieve congestion on roads and at airports by providing a competitive travel option that’s not just faster than driving and flying for distances of 100-500 miles, but also often more convenient and comfortable. No one will be forced to use it, but it’ll give them another way to travel between SoCal, the Central Valley and NorCal cities.

    • @richardtaylor5948
      @richardtaylor5948 19 днів тому

      @ChrisJones-gx7fc I'm really not hating on the idea. HSR probably has a possibility to have a positive impact. The fact that our government is calling the shots on the project is a key indicator it is a waste of money and resources with no accountability just and endless supply of money to be thrown at something that will be partially complete decades late.
      I'm a locomotive engineer in the area of current construction. I've seen several completed construction projects unusable due to engineering or material problems.
      Before the project began I noticed decapitated buildings being bought remodeled never occupied only to be sold to HSR and demolished.
      It's a cash cow for some on the inside and a burden to 99.9% of the general public.
      Have a private company bid the whole project in its entirety in segments and things would happen.
