Benji Naesen's Opens Up About Imposter Syndrome in Cycling

- Benji Naesen joins Anthony for another Roadman Cycling Podcast.
Benji Naesen has quickly become an authority on cycling and his commentary, knowledge and ability to really study and understand numbers and nuances of riders and teams but he has p*ssed off a few within cycling along the way! The old school cycling fraternity have not all welcomed him with open arms.
His background in computer programming seems an unlikely asset to sports commentating but that attention to detail really sets him apart in his understanding of the pro peloton. Anthony and Benji chat his struggle with weight and how he is now, not only a spectator but, a cyclist too.

Can't believe this hasn't got more views. It was nice to get to know Benji better.
I, too, just had this pop up in my feed. Benji is, like, the epitome of "fan's commentator". His knowledge and love of the sport comes clear in everything he does. Taking up cycling himself adds "love of the activity" to it all. Really easy to be a supporter of!
I had no idea Benji was overweight until he started talking about his weightloss journey - Benji, you don't need to gain or lose a centipidcock to be presentable on camera, but the health and lifestyle benefits of being in shape are immeasurable, and I think it has probably deepened your understanding of the athletes.
I’ve been a cyclist for 20 years. Patrick and Benji have reinvigorated my interest in professional cycling. They’re brilliant.
I appreciate the interview Roadman!
Here to show the love for Benji, THE cycling expert. Aranburu stans for life!
💛
Benji rocks!
How is this just hitting my homepage? This is a great interview. I remember listening to LR back when Patrick would ask Benji to give updates on his cycling/weight loss journey every new episode
He’s one of the nicest lads in cycling
Benji is one of the coolest, most knowledgable and passionate cycling fan/podcasters the world will ever know. You listen to him chat for half an hour and you just need to have him in your inner friends circle. ❤
Benji and Patrick are both phenomenal and I would not be worried about them stretching themselves too thin or wide. As a viewer of both of them and LRCP, the thing that keeps me coming back is their personalities. They're great at what they do, they're entertaining, and they seem like genuinely good people. Nothing ever seems forced so I can't see why they wouldn't continue to thrive with viewers.
Love Benji!
Howard cosells book is entitled
I never played the game
Perhaps he’s most famous usa sports commentator
I enjoyed this crossover content immensely!
Don't feel bad Benji, the cheese has moved. Print and traditional media need to understand and make the shift. They should be sponsoring your podcast or podcasts like yours if they want to stay relevant. No need to feel bad for innovating.
Just discovered this podcast a month ago and you have over 800. Started watching because I knew you from your time in Toronto.
Really nice interview, Anthony. Thought provoking questions that really sparked Benji off and then the wisdom to just let him talk, like Michael Parkinson would. 😊
This month I have been watching all your videos, this one ☝️ is one of the best I would say. 🙏👏👏
I loved this chat.
Great video nice to learn mpre about both of you
Benji is the best
I was very fit/active until my work had me commuting 2hrs each way per day to NYC at age of 30…I put on 40lbs over 6 months and have struggled ever since with my weight even if I am active for 5-10hrs a week…I’m 55 now and have tried everything under the moon…hang in there everybody, I am still on my journey but I can at least send my positive thoughts
Benji's english is 'ok' eh.😊
