  • Changed the timing belt and ElsaWin says that is the job done... but it is not!
    I was informed by a helpful forum member that there is a VCDS measuring block to look into to see "Torsion Value" and while the range is quite wide, the optimal range is quite specific.
    Here you see a quick overview of how this Torsion Value is adjusted to be within the optimal range of -1.0 to 0.
    (yes we got a daily!!!)

    Do you need to lock the crank or release the tensioner? Thanks

      Hey Rory. No. So this is done AFTER you've changed all the timing belt and tensioner stuff.

    Hello! From the information received from different mechanics, I knew that the value on the BMM engine should be between -1.5 and -2.5. As our information does not match, I would be curious to find out which is the correct version.

      @@ianpgonzagahola.

      @@ianpgonzaga hello. The 1.9 tdi bls engine after changing the timing belt fell just like you -4 / -4.4 and I left it at -1.4, it is much lighter to drive and has "nerve". Use Etdc16 which uses -1.5/-2.5 .

      Hi. I chose my torsion by the pop up in VCDS which informed optimal range. Can you see that for your engine? It might be different for yours VS this engine.

    I have 2.0 TDi BKD engine, Octavia 2006, after timing belt change my idle consumption has risen from 0.5l/h to 0.7l/h and with AC on, it goes to 0.9l/h and now after driving about 10.000 miles, 15.000km the engine consumption has risen more, and I have to try this timing belt thing, my mechanic will say "it is not my fault" because he is an asshole and I just have to learn everything my self, I cannot afford to pay to assholes anymore. I hate cars. I dont have VCDS, only Delphi Autocom software, I hope that I can get these torsion values out of it too...

    • @ianpgonzaga
      @ianpgonzaga  3 роки тому

      sorry to hear your performance has degraded.
      Yes try this adjustment to get the torsion more optimal.
      I find that with regular driving my consumption is average.
      With motorway driving on cruise control it takes about 400km before the consumption is very low again.
      Good luck!
