    🌻 Extra info about what I packed
    I ended up taking around 4-5 tops in the end as I realised I also had my workout tops that I could wear if I wanted to. I also decided to take my older pair of Nike walking sneakers which I knew I could throw out along the way as I only wanted them for a portion of the trip. Packing this way really lightened my bag and ensured my luggage was only around 8kg~. Honestly, this has been the perfect amount for 3+ weeks of travel. This is exactly how much I take for 4, 5, 6+ weeks also 😊.

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  22 дні тому +3

      @mina0398 Occasionally, but I’ll only buy something if I absolutely love it and can see myself using it when I’m back home/or whilst travelling. I’ve definitely made the mistake of buying small souvenirs, items, etc and then never looking at them again as soon as I get home 😅. So I try to be very deliberate, and if I do buy something it’ll often be light/small. But if I know I’m going to an area where there will be interesting things and potentially more to buy then I’ll under pack purposefully so that I can buy a few things ☺️

    I've done carry-on only on my last two trips to Japan (albeit with a carry-on roller and a backpack that can fit under the seat) and it was a game changer for me. Since I visit family in Japan, it's customary for us to bring souvenirs when we visit, so I need to have a roller, but I'll look into a travel backpack and a sling perhaps when I go next time lol great vid btw. Carry-on only is the way to go!

      @libbyyazbek  16 днів тому +1

      Oh that’s awesome! It really makes travelling so much easier. Totally understand what you mean by bringing back souvenirs. It is nice to sometimes have the extra space to buy some items, and get gifts for family and friends. It just really depends on the type of trip you do! It’s nice to know you have the option to just bring carry on though. Once you realise you can travel relatively “light”, it really opens up a lot of travel doors haha. Enjoy your next travel adventure 😉

    love the video and tips. do you have any tips for multi country destination to travel to with just a carry on?

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  14 днів тому

      I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the video! I’d say my main tips are to try and pack light clothing items that can be easily layered. That way you get the option to pack a few more pieces and if you are going between climates then you can layer your clothing to keep you warm. Also, if you have a rough idea of where you might be going (whilst you’re still at home) then you can plan quite effectively the types of clothing you’ll want to wear and bring. To keep things light, I’ll bring jackets that are light weight but offer a lot of warmth such as the raincoat I packed in the video. As it’s close to my body, it adds a lot of warmth without the bulk. As for things like extra shoes, or basics like toiletries, I purposely under pack because it’s so easy to stop at a convenience / grocery store in your destination country to stock up on toothpaste, deodorant, soaps, etc. Then I sometimes like to buy a pair of cheap shoes that I’ll use solely on my trip that can be thrown out during or before flying home. This is to prevent me from ruining good pairs that might not withstand my destination or if I know that destination will need something highly specific. Then as for other small tips- Reddit is a life saver! I like to google my destination and see what others have brought/packed/described about the place to help me understand my different locations. At the end of the day, most things can be bought, and/or sent back home if you’re really in a pinch. And my most important rule of thumb- if I haven’t worn the item at home in the last few weeks (weather dependent) then it’s likely I won’t wear it whilst I’m overseas. So bring the items you love, to ensure you’ll actually use and enjoy using them! Lastly, for long term travel, pack clothing that will get you through about 1 week. If you’ve got one week covered, then you’ve got 4,5,6 weeks covered. Get to a washing machine and you’ve got fresh clothes! Oh and actually lastly (haha), I pack multi use charges and tech equipment. Try to limit cables and tech stuff and possibly look at purchasing multi connection devices so you’re carry 2-3 electronic things, rather than 4-6 (ie cables). I hope that helps!! I have a video coming soon on more travel tips and hacks ☺️☺️

      @libbyyazbek  9 днів тому

      Oh how exciting!! I have stayed in hostels before, but that’s when I did the traditional “backpacking” around Asia/Europe early 20s travel haha. I don’t stay in hostels anymore. But when I did, I always checked the reviews across multiple sites, ensured I checked for bed bugs, stayed in smaller rooms (2-4 people rather than 6+), and always read reviews about bathrooms (as they tend to be the icky factor with hostels). But, they are great places to meet others! Good luck on your travels 🙏🏼

      Hey lovely! Thank you for your lovely comment 🥰. Unfortunately I don’t think the foldable backpack is still in stock - it was originally from H&M and it was called “Water Repellent Backpack”. I’ve linked a similar one in the description for you to check out. It’s not exactly the same, but similar ☺️. Also, the small green passport pouch was actually given to me on a Qantas flight, I don’t think those ones can be purchased. • @isleeptillnoon5256
      @isleeptillnoon5256 6 днів тому +2

      I just pack one sweater and a lightweight one at that, either in merino or cashmere. It's going to be covered by my coat anyway. Plus it's Merino, not touching my skin therefore it takes a long time to smell bad that it requires washing or changing that often.
      This was my packing list for one month in Hokkaido, Japan in the middle of winter. Just an urban travel holiday staying in cities.
      1 x Faux Leather Jacket
      1 x Faux Fur Knee length coat, which was stored in a 14 litre Sea to Summit Event compression bag while it was packed.
      1 x Light Cashmere Sweater
      1 x Muji Down Vest Liner
      2 x Icebreaker 260 Merino Thermal long sleeve top. For 95% of the time, this was all I needed as my mid layer under my coat.
      2 x Merino Singlets/Vest
      1 x Cotton Band T shirt, mostly to sleep in but also to layer over my long sleeve Thermals.
      1 x Wool Twill Cargo Pants
      1 x Jeans
      1 x Track Pants
      1 x Fleece Lined Leggings
      1 x Thermal Leggings
      3 x Pairs Merino Socks
      5 x underwear
      2 Bras.
      1 x Insulated and Waterproof boots
      1 x Palladium Platform Combat boots.
      2 x Hats
      1 x Wool Blanket Scarf
      1 x Pair Gloves
      My toiletries and electronics are pretty much the same all year round.
      To be honest, I could have left the sweater, one of my boots, my jeans and one of my leggings home. I found I was rarely wearing them.
      Minus the items I was wearing (usually the heaviest and bulkiest pieces), it all fitted in a 40l Durston Kakwa Backpack, including my tote bag, altogether weighed under 7 kgs.
      All the hotels and Airbnb I stayed in had washing machines.

    • @libbyyazbek

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  12 днів тому

      Hey lovely! It really depends on my destination. Places like Europe, then I will do a bit of shopping because I will have access to so much more than in my home country. In those instances I really try to pack very light/under pack slightly so I have room to buy and add things. My little hack is to bring a tote bag which I had in the video. Tote bags are amazing because they can be almost 45L of volume, and are really inconspicuous when packed. The fit under an airline seat and no one seems to question them as they just look like a normal “carry bag”. So you could always takes a foldable tote bag in your main bag in case you do want to buy stuff in your travels 😇

      Hey lovely! It’s from IKEA :). It’s surprisingly super sturdy and very well made. Definitely check out their ‘travel’ range 🥰

    how many days/months is this bag for?

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  Місяць тому

      So this is for 3-4 weeks! I usually pack with the mindset of packing for around 1 week (with a few extra tops 😅). That usually covers me for multiple weeks because it’s hard to wear more than one weeks worth of clothes in reality 😊

    @VTK72 Місяць тому +1

    Thanks 😊….. what’s the total weight? Because now, even if you have a small backpack if you are over 17 lbs/ 7or8 kg (i think 🤔) you will have to pay extra money 🤨😔

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  Місяць тому +1

      Yes, you’re right ;). My main bag is around 7-8kg. My smaller bag is a a few kgs because of my laptop, but I hide that one behind me if I’m near the airline staff so they don’t see it haha. I also sometimes take a smaller bag just to fit my laptop so it looks like a “personal bag” and they don’t weigh personal bags (in my experience) 😁

    • @lbunnygordon1133
      @lbunnygordon1133 27 днів тому +1

      Many budget airlines only let yoi have 7 or 10 kg altogether or just 1 bag. How does that work for summer/winter. Does a hip strap really help with weight of pack please?

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  27 днів тому

      Hey lovely! @lbunnygordon113 I found the waist strap on my old bag only useful when I was walking for long period of time from destination to destination. I would say at that time I was doing more traditional “backpacking travel”. Now, I do less budget/backpacking travel so find that I can get away without having the waist strap. It’s really a personal preference! The waist strap just helps support a heavier backpack as the hips carry the load as opposed to your shoulders. If I were you I would consider the type of travel you want to do, and then go and try out a few backpacks in store :). If you are taking a heavy backpack, then likely having waist straps is the way to go! ❤️

    Is this too big for ryanair?

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  5 днів тому

      I personally had success with flying Ryanair just a few weeks ago with this bag. I packed the “tote” bag into this bigger backpack and just used my smaller hand bag to carry my laptop as to not draw attention. They did weight my bag, but it was under the weight limit. They didn’t check the dimensions!

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  14 днів тому

      Ahh! I promise I did 😂 this was my first “packing” video and I forgot to film a few smaller items, like my electronics haha. But I pack using multi use plugs, I’ll bring a global charging plug, a power bank that is strong enough to charge my laptop but still allowed on the plane (planes have voltage restrictions), and I love bringing my magnetic apple charging cable because I can charge my AirPods and iPhone easily without needing to worry about the usbc outlet. Thank you for pointing out I missed my cables! I hope this helps a bit though ☺️

    How many kgs in total?

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  Місяць тому +1

      Usually no more than about 8-9kg. I try keep my main carry on at around 7-8kg and then my little backpack/smaller bag at around 1-2kg. This is usually a good way to do it and avoid the bags being weighed 😊

    • @libbyyazbek
      @libbyyazbek  21 день тому +1

      Yes good point! Japan is high on my bucket list. I was considering taking carry-on on the flight over with another smaller soft bag inside so I can buy stuff and then check one or two of the bags in if needed on the way out (as long as I’m heading straight back home) 😁😁

      @@libbyyazbek you need to go! You can fill a checked bag pretty quickly depending on what you buy. Some people just buy a checked bag there to not pay the bag on the way there

      Europe is cool, but soooo different to Asia. I honestly love SEA so much, I have no doubt I’d fall in love with Japan.

      Haha well this is for about 1 month of travelling! Honestly it’s been a perfect amount with my bag only weighing around 8kg. I took out a few shirts tbh lol, only ended up with about 5. I purposely took an old pair of Nike walking sneakers so I could throw them out as I knew I’d only need them for a portion of the trip. But apart from that, it has been a perfect amount of items! 😉😁
