$457? Are you outside of the US? Their site has the 45l version for $345. Thats pricey still for sure. I ordered mine this morning on the rePakt site (Pakt customers resell items or Pakt sells returns) for $207. Much better.
@@Wooster77 I’m pretty sure only hardcore travel people would know pakt. Hell you can save half the price and get the aer and that will have more recognition
Maurice, I love your vids man, but you gotta review stuff that is more affordable more often. This bag is dope, but its priced beyond its value for most of us who only fly a few times per year. The video is interesting, but there is a sense of foreboding that hangs over the video with the price. I want to buy things you recommend because I trust your experience, but your value for money vs my value for money dont add up and it feels like we're completely out of touch. In addition I think its unrealistic to not include price/ value for money as "the only 5 categories that matter".
But he isn't someone who travels a few times a year. And affordable for whom? I think it is unrealistic to expect his "value for money" to align with all his viewers. If you can't afford it, scroll on.
You sound broke and insecure. There are plenty of us who can afford this bag and reviews like these are valuable. Move on if it’s doesn’t apply to you. He shouldn’t have to change his reviews to fit your specific income bracket.
I've used a 20€ backpack from Decathlon for over an intense decade made of short and long trips literally everywhere, including the Camino de Santiago and it survived brilliantly compared to other expensive technical backpack. So it is definitely not a matter of money. The one I have been using was bought in 2009, paid 60€ and still rolling
I was really excited by this bag but what hurts is the sticker shock. 09-MAR-2024 35L $451 CAD and 45L $479 CAD I mean don't get me wrong this bag looks amazing but the cost makes it hard to be a good replacement for my 2010 Osprey Porter 46
I used to do backpacks only. I got older and overtime my back started hurting. Had to switch to roll away carryon luggage and never looked back. back feels soo much better also. It was fun while it lasted when I was younger and no back problems...lol
I had a similar pack to this one osprey fair point about 10 years but carrying a 45 litre on your back with a laptop is killer. I split my back into 2 large one as a duffle and small 15l on my pack
Bro, if you are looking for a wallet with the same quality as the bags, I have seen videos of the Vionentus VN400 AirTag or whatever it is called, hahaha, many people compare them with other well-known brands.
Looks like a great pack with many features and very well reviewed. My personal favorite travel backpack (I used it for 3 weeks in Europe as carry-on) is the Osprey Porter 46. Similar - 46litre capacity, opens wide like a suitcase, tough nylon material, tuck away comfy shoulder straps and waste belt and super strong. Lighter at 3.45 pounds (1.5KG) and much cheaper at US$195. In my opinion less zips and compartments makes it much less accessible to thieves, is easier to pack and find things, and less zips to wear out . Totally agree with you about the water in Switzerland, it is so refreshing.
One HUGE problem with Pakt. Shipping to Europe for me was set to 75 dollars. That's insane. So I chose another travelbag. They must lose tons of customers with that type of shipping
Lol. Someone paying $325 for a travel backpack is complaining about shipping. Sure, they should have made the price $499 and free shipping - lemmings would have eaten it up and asked for seconds.
For me it is a problem as well. I wanted to purchase it, but with that shipping cost to Europe a no go for me as well. And I bought some other bags out of the US with same pricetags and far less shipping costs.
You pay for the best. Many frequent travelers prioritize function and are willing to pay for it. If price is most important to you buy a cheap pack or use a pillow case. Pretty much any vessel will work.
@@fmzaidi2001 if you live on a meager budget you don’t travel enough to need a travel backpack. This video is not for you. You will need to use the one backpack you use for everything.
@@decidocisum You don’t need a $500 travel backpack when a cheap and durable £99 travel backpack from Decathlon works just as fine. You get to travel more when we’re smart with money, even if loaded
There are many lighter weight (while empty) backpacks that offer similar features. As you mentioned this one is 2kg (4.4lbs) which is 28% of your carry on weight limit (7kg/15lbs) before you even pack it! And yes, Ive had my carry on weighed before boarding many times, especially in Australia and all over the world. If you're lucky they might not ask but I have had to check bags in the past that exceeded their carry on weight. I'd advice caution if using this bag
I have the Aer TP3S (3.79lbs empty) and was able to go on multiple international and domestic flights without it being weighed (was 14lbs loaded) but it was too heavy for me despite the padding, sternum strap and load lifters. Will be getting the dragonfly ultra and just minimize my packing list.
@@therainbowpoopp consider some of cabinzeros bags. I haven’t bought one but yeah looking to solve this same issue of overweight over featured backpacks
Maurice obviously likes a bag with lots of organization (pockets, compartments, dividers, etc.) made from fairly durable (heavier) fabric. Of course it's all about tradeoffs. As you say much lighter bags exist, and those bags will have fewer "organizational features" and, or lighter fabric or will be lower capacity. This is all individual preference. But having said all that, my preference is also for a lighter (less than 3 lbs) bag.
If you insist on "carry-on only" then this wouldn't affect you, but: If you ever decide to check this bag, airlines tend to toss bags onto belts front-side down--if you put your chargers and other electronics in the front pouch, they'll be getting crushed repeatedly by whatever weight is inside, along with the impact force from being tossed from a few feet up. For my check-in luggage I'm always keeping clothes or something else resilient in the front pocket.
This bag looks amazing. My husband and I travel with a single carryon shared between us with our own personal items. This leaves us an additional carryon for the return flight in case we buy something at the destination.
Best carryon for me has been Tumi Alpha 3 international expandable carry on. I think the newest one is Alpha x but they are the same. Just different color. It’s not a cheap one but the quality is superb. Mine looks practically new after 300+ flights.
Thank you so much! As somone who drives for work and ministry often, it's great to have a bag where I can fit both lifestyles in it! I will eventually begin travel nursing too and have been looking for the best luggage/backpack. I appreciate your work ethic and depth of knowledge
I do agree that a backpack is a very convenient way to travel, but there are plenty of very lightweight carry on roller luggages available. The expanable Samsonite Hi-fi being one at 2.3kg, and the American Tourister Airconic at 2kg flat. Also, the July Carry-on Light Expandable at 2.2kg, and the July Carry-on Light at 1.8kg.
For Canadians the MEC Outpost 35L whilst not nearly having the number of pockets or modularity is a also a solid contender for travel pack, it's seems to be a diluted Cotopaxi 35L and the pricepoint is more reasonable for those in looking in that bracket.
Thank you SO much! My engineer husband travels internationally and this will make the perfect Christmas present. The Travelers Notebook was a big hit so I trust your judgement. 🤗
Thanks for this amazing description. I love the shape and amount of storage, but for me the most important elements are lots of zippers so nothing important falls out and yes, the old top load backpack is not the easiest to access but it doesn't fall apart/flat like a full zip unit with no rigid sides. This backpack seems to fall short in both areas.
Thanks. I'm a bag nerd and I have quite a collection of bags for various uses and I look for CLEVER designs using quality materials with GREAT function, durability, and appearance. Looks like this one really checks all the boxes. :)
Awesome video and review. Got recommended this video and is my first time watching one of your videos. You had me sold on this backpack and went straight to the site to buy one, saw the price and went straight off that website 🤣🤣. Thanks for the roughly 15mins of excitement
I prefer the YOREPEK Travel Backpack. It's a good size, tough, and has a built in USB setup for a power bank. I did add a cross strap to it for better fit. I've used it on a number of trips both local and overseas and it's worked great. I use storage cubes to help organize the clothing and the side, exterior pockets are good for shoes. It also has a cross strap to attach it to luggage with collapsible handles. And, it's only $28 vice $325!!
I am very impressed with your review. I went to the website and they are even offering a 15% discount. In spite of that , the bad would be very expensive for a casual traveler like me.
Generally 7kg carry on allowance here in Asia, with this bag you've got a large 45l capacity but only 3.5kg spare once you put in your laptop. Nice as it is smaller and lighter is more practical forme dealing with weight restrictions and carrying even minimal photo gear.
When traveling and going carry-on only, I use a 45l Incase clamshell duffle bag that they no longer make. It doesn't have the versatility of this Pakt but it's got plenty of volume thanks to it's rectangular shape and squared off corners. It's saved me plenty of times from being forced to check my bag in since I've been able to squeeze it into an overhead compartment that was "full". Frankly, there should be a lot more enforcement of carry-on sizing because when you're group 3,4 or 5 there should still be some room for luggage but group 1 and 2 rolled into the plane with their hard sided Away luggage which takes up all the overhead. But it's not all the fault of other travelers as a lot of blame can be put on the airlines as well. Creating subclass fares and not overhauling the overhead bins has caused major headaches too.
The biggest problem is the people in Zones 1&2 put BOTH their carryon & personal item in the overhead bin. That’s selfish. Personal items should go under the seat in front of you and the space in the overhead bins should be cubbies that are labeled with your seat#. The airlines could fix this but they won’t. I travel carryon only and hate it when my luggage gets confiscated & “checked for free.”
@@jam_is_jammin I just came back from Orlando last week and jumped on an earlier flight than I was booked. Thanks to my soft sided duffle, I was able to avoid checking it in. But sure enough plenty of people put their backpacks and coats up in the overhead when it should be at their feet under the seat.
Being able to stow the straps away is also great for placing the bag neatly into the overhead storage areas of planes and trains or if you need to put it the baggage compartment of the airport or sightseeing bus.
The review is fantastic. Well shot, well edited, and excellently narrated. I don't fly and seldom travel to be honest, but I do use and carry bags frequently for the local things I do. I currently use various iterations of 5.11 bags, and was surprised at the use of 500 denier nylon here as opposed to the 1000 I am used to. That said, they look very well made and thought out. Past my price point, but look like great bags nonetheless. Greatly enjoyed the content and presentation, thank you! 😎👍
If you want some padding on the day pack straps, there are fairly inexpensive padding options that are sold for car seat belts. I used them for other backpacks before and they work great.
Not gonna lie, this bag is PRICEY$$$$. That being said, I would def buy another one if I needed it. I’ve taken this bag to multiple trips and the value I’ve gotten out of the bag is amazing. Nothing beats having something you know you can have confidence in something that’s holding what is essentially your life for the next few days. The ability to organize everything nicely, having confidence in the materials and construction of the bag, and the very nice looking back pack, to me, makes it worth the price tag. If you can afford it, you will not regret buying this backpack. If it’s too rich, no biggie, there are plenty of other bags.
I can think of many bags I would choose before this one that meet all of the criteria you mention more effectively. Any of the similarly sized bags from Tom Bihn, Pacsafe, Aer, or Peak Designs not only have more features, are more lightweight, have better build quality, and costs less than this bag from Pakt. I love what Pakt is trying to do but their technical execution is subpar relative to the main competitors at the same bag volume and price point.
I'm going to disagree with you on the Peak. I have the 30L Peak and it's wonderful but the vertical opening method just isn't a really great way of living. Too often I need to find a larger than normal area to open it up. The one small top opening really isn't enough either.
That's only an issue on the 30L version. The 45L version (which you can compress down in the 30L range if it's not packed full) doesn't really have that problem because you can open it multiple ways.
2kg is way too heavy for a carry-on backpack. Especially if you are trying to meet the carry-on weight limits of many airlines of between 7-10kg. Tom Bihn makes 30L and 45L travel bags that don’t exceed 1.4kg.
@@Jack-it7jy I think there is no perfect backpack. I also have the 30L Peak Design and love it although if it didn't have the laptop compartment on the opening side, it would have been almost perfect for me.
Need to show why this is by far better than the competitors. Watching the video I can see some advantages, but also disadvantages and a number of similar features/capability to competitors. I own several competitors bags and use them for different styles of travel and they do a great job, but I don’t think there is a perfect bag for all people and all types of travel, it depends on need and use.
I'm surprised you didn't include price as a key factor in your review. Given the current economic climate, it's an important consideration for many of us. It's frustrating to have to search the comments to find out the price. So disapointed.
@@johannesbrahms9528You miss the point: to avoid mentioning the hefty price is a deliberate strategy. The purpose is to create a need and disregard the cost. Of course, this video isn’t a review but a marketing video. And has very low credibility. I would be extremely surprised if Maurice not only knows the people behind this bag but is also paid to promote it.
Great. I'm new to your channel. I travel plenty and have been obsessed over the years with finding the perfect travel backpack for 1 bag travel. I've used various Tortuga travel backpacks, along with a smaller pack inside the big one. You covered it all, thanks.
Dude, your presentation tempo is quick but perfect because of your stellar organization of items being presented and your higher tempo compliments your clear, well-toned voice. 🙏🏻🇨🇦.
It’s not a bad bag, it has nice features. Doing a comparison, a close contender is the Cotopaxi, and the reasons I still prefer the Cotopaxi are its lightweight, look, material, interior organization, price, and lifetime warranty.
The price on this bag is quite steep, part of that being to fund their intensive marketing campaign. I have found that the humble Decathlon NH Escape 500 32L backpack covers my needs quite wonderfully. It has a ton of inside pockets which make for great storage distribution as well as security. As a day pack I also have the 23L version of the backpack. Just a few days ago I added a Koolertron Support SLR Camera Bag Liner. This is a 3 compartment (you can arrange as you want actually as padding has velcro) unit which fits well and safe in the 23L and allows me to carry my DSLR, another lens or two, or my mini tripod. And all for a price much much less than most backpacks.
For me there is a number 6 - that you can stow away the straps so it only looks like a backpack when you are using it as a backpack So I own the AER Flight Pack 3 for trips up to 1 week and the Tom Bihn Techonaut 30 for 1-4 weeks
Was very excited and elated to say this amazing travel backpack. Watched the video to the end not worrying about the price cause it’s a “backpack” was sorely mistaken. I didn’t even know backpacks could be that expensive. FYI $325 for 35L
Looks interesting and well designed. Thanks for your thorough review. I have a few questions if you happen to read this months later - or someone else who owns one... - How is it holding up after months of use? - Will either size bag fit under an airline seat, at least when not fully expanded, or do I need to stick with the day pack for that? - How is the water resistance, would you rely on it for walking in the rain for an hour or so or does it need a cover? - finally at $300+ it's a bit spendy, what's your closest alternative that's in the $200 or less price range?
wow, your preparation and execution on these videos is best-in-class...well done! this bag has been on my short list...waiting for a couple new releases from other brands before pulling the trigger, but so far, this is in the lead...thx again!
It looks like a great bag in either size, I favour the smaller, but the one issue I have is that it lacks security features like those found in Pacsafe bags. I have gone "all in" with Pacsafe and have a 40 Litre, a 10 Litre, and a fanny-pac...they're all slashproof and have hardware that lends itself to deterring thieves which make for a much more secure time traveling.
I like this bag but the problem is, these boutique bags are super expensive. I do my one bag backpack travel with a North Face or Converse backpack with packing cubes and a belt bag. Works well for me and my budget! Awesome video tho!
Awesome review! I've not traveled from a single bag but i'm beginning to see the benefits. My goal is to learn how to best do it and then share it with my wife & children. Thanks for taking the time to share this!
I saw this bag on the video you posted travelling with your Mom. I love it! The clamshell feature sold me! Admittedly, I have a bag addiction and this feeds right into it! Great review!
Switzerland citizen here! Glad you loved our tape water! It is because our many lakes and icemontains (sorru dont know the same of the glacier in english 😅). 😊
Wow I think I found the bag I’ve been looking for! I recently got back from a trip and realized I needed a better backpack..and this is it! A mixture of a backpack and a carry on. Thank you!
Your comment sounds fabricated. Just like a ChatGPT prompt: create a positive comment about the product X. You see, people who actually has to earn their money also learn to spend it carefully. This important element is missing from your comment. Very artificial and very predictable. And easily spotted.
Really glad see how much they upgraded this bag to version 2. I’m just incredibly disappointed I was one of the early adopters of the v 1 with its many shortcomings. ALWAYS plan on doing some real world traveling soon after your purchase of a bag in this price point with the limited return policy.
The Pakt has great features, but I'm sticking with my Peak Designer 45L Travel Backpack. I've traveled to three continents with it and it survived a monsoon, Saharan sand and heavy smoke from wildfires. I like how the Travel Backpack's straps can tuck inside a flap to avoid snags in transport. And the subdivider compartments are accessible on both sides of the bag. Plus it has two water bottle slots. My only complaint is the snap buckles to slim the profile down are essentially useless. One broke after a year of use, but Peak Design replaced the entire bag with a new one under warranty.
A major downside to the Pakt bags is they are HEAVY! All those features and organization/fabric adds weight. When I travel I'm always looking to reduce the weight on my back. every ounce adds up on a long trip. The 35L bag weighs over 4 pounds. the 45L weighs 4.4 pounds. what a pig!
2.5KG @ $300+ for a soft sided carry on backpack is a non starter for me. I'm sure it has great organization features but just how much of that does a person really need? I'm quite happy with my $50 Ecohub @.7kg (1.5 pounds). My wife and I (we're older too) did 3 weeks in Europe with a 10KG carry-on limitation using a cheap packable top stuffing backpack, like those used in hiking, that weighed just .3 KG or just over a half pound. Sure, it was inconvenient at times but the additional content capacity was well worth it. At the price ($6 ea.) that I got them, they only needed to last 3 weeks...they did and we still have them. Weight, space and cost are the game with carry-on, especially internationally. Personally, I think that a top loading bag, like the Ecohub, are far more pratical than a clamshell configuration. Good luck opening a "clamshell" carry-on while on a plane or in a tight space such as a small bathroom. Plenty of equal, if not better, options for 1/5 the price. Thank you for the video, well produced.
Peak Design Everyday 20L is king. Put it under the seat in front of you and you will quickly see nothing can beat it. The ability to get to stuff easy and fast with that top is the best. Owned it sold it, used other bags and then missed it and re-bought it.
Great video, could not agree more that this is one of - if not the best - travel backpack out there. I have an Aer Travel Pack 2 and I’m envious of some of the features
$325 plus shipping. I got a nice 4 wheel prem bearings roller and a small to med laptop and cam bag for half. I'm sure it's good. Just can't justify twice the price for my use. If anything gets weak in the straps, it's not hard to reinforce with stronger sewing
Bro, you convinced me! I ordered one yesterday. I was hesitant bc I have a 7 day trip coming up in Japan at the end of the month and was scared it wouldn’t be big enough to pack 7 days worth of clothes and gear…. But I also watched the vid you of both you and your mother traveling out of the same bag and was convicted haha. I’ll let you know what I think about the bag after the travel!
@@UnknownJorge I definitely needed another luggage haha. I went during winter time and packed a massive thick jacket that pretty much would take up a whole side of the packed bag ( which could’ve been avoided if I used a puffy jacket that was compact). You would really have to skip out on a lot of things to make it seven days in that one bag. However, the bag is high quality made with great features.
@@jonniebox9656 bucket list trip. Will be going all over the country. I travel very light, and will be doing laundry in my hotel rooms every other night, so just my trusty TravelPro Maxlight 5 carry on (been to 3 countries and 10 states with it and still as good as new) and a day sling bag as I’m not bringing a laptop or other electronics like that other than my phone, camera, and earbuds.
For European buyers: Most Airlines in Europe (KLM, Airfrance, Lufthanse, Eurowings) have smaller carry on baggage size, which only the 35L pack fits in
I was smiling and enjoying the review (although it sounded sooo sponsored, the product is actually interesting for me). Then I went and google the price. Now i'm miserable :(
I really like this bag, amazingly well designed, the best I have ever seen. However, I travel millions of miles every year. A bag on wheels is always better than a bag on my shoulder for those long miles.
Lol, I understand the water comment. We are fortunate to live on basalt rock and our well water is something else. I make sure to have a big bottle of it with me wherever I go.
I do totally agree with @SuJuYoon. Very expensive for what it is. I would have LOVED to have this for my travel but once converted to AUS$ it’s over $500. Unfortunately it’s out of my reach! 😢
Zero cabin 44L, only 760g, and cost 74 euro, i got one. Only 2 gripes, does not have side bottle mesh pocket, and no support waist belt. They do have one with these mentioned features, at 42l and 130-160euro, 1.4kg.
I have the V1. I love it. I think this gave a pretty good look at all of the clever upgrades too. I would happily grab the new version if something were to happen to my current one. Side Note: it really seemed like you were speaking very quickly, but you articulated very well and I had no problem following along or understanding you. Great job all around!
Nice advertisement, but in terms of luggage, there is the Samsonite C-LITE CARRY-ON SPINNER that is 4.5lbs and July Light carry on that is 3.9lbs at half the price of the Samsonite. Both are hardside, so to compare apples to apples, one should compare a soft-walled luggage with your bag. Obviously, a backpack can be stuffed with more things than a roller bag. On my last trip, I had to ditch my polycarbonate luggage and stuff the backpack to the max...too many fragile items to take with me :)
It definitely may be best for the ytber (and I suspect there is a partnership hence the infomercial feel), but for everyone else, definitely know and understand your needs before investing in a bag this pricey. So this feels a bit balanced, I’m going to share my experience w v1, which isn’t all that different from v2. I own v1 and v2 doesn’t seem like much of an upgrade. For one, I suspect they padded out the shoulder straps even more, bc v2 does not come with a hip belt. For that price tag, I’d rather have a hip belt than not, and V1 came with one. I also carry a small packable backpack, so the extra compartment is unnecessary. After traveling for a while, I realized I preferred my own container/organization method, so all the different compartments became unnecessary for me. I could pack a black hole and feel just as organized. I carry a small crossbody with me, so the tsa flap (where the hip belt used to be) is completely unnecessary. The weight of the bag is a drawback. As he points out, the bag, completely empty almost weighs 5 lbs. I haven’t flown an airline that has a weight restriction, but if I did, this would not be my go-to bag. More importantly, if you plan on carrying this bag for substantial periods of time, you may start to feel that weight. Pakt was the first bag I purchased when I was excited about the idea of one bagging (but not truly practicing it). Even though it’s bulky for my needs now, I loved the external minimal aesthetic of it and that it didn’t look like a hiking/backpackers bag. It packs like and has the size of a small suitcase, it’s just lighter as far as materials. There have been times when I would have preferred a suitcase w wheels over the bag. I got it during a time period when I was still overpacking and including bulky items, so I never really noticed the weight. When I got more efficient with my packing and thoughtful about my purchases/items I own, I stopped reaching for the Pakt. I now carry a backpack that is small enough to pass for a personal item and lighter in materials. I’m considering selling v1, or keeping it around for if I do long-term cold-weather traveling that require hiking boots.
Thank you so much for introducing this bag as I never heard of this brand. It does seemed like the perfect bag. It seems difficult to find a bag without using those waterproof zip with coating which starts to pill over time, loses its function and looks horrible. It also has a ok looking logo. I know. I’m very picky and I found a lot of bags out there got an ugly logo… and I love the fact that this bag also got a hidden pocket! I don’t know why it’s so hard to find similar design.
Just back from a 2 weeks trip in 4 different countries in Europe with an Osprey Talon 33. Much space left, 200€ cheaper and 1Kg lighter. I really like these full-featured travel backpacks but each feature (mainly only useful when moving) adds way too much weight when you face weight restrictions and want to stay comfortable. Don't say it's useless, just say you can easily do without, save weight and save money.
The July Carry On Light is marketed as weighing 1.8kg and comes in at 2kg on my luggage scale. So there is a rolling suitcase that weighs about the same as the Pakt backpack. I got the July Carry On Light specifically for flying on airlines with a 7kg weight limit. Now on to watch the rest of your video... 🌺Heidi
Damn these are some nice updates! I've loved my V1 Pakt backpack for the last two years on several trips. Full depth front compartment, improved comfort, and the redesigned back security compartment are all tempting improvements.
Great review on this bag. I’ve been searching for a new backpack for a while now and I keep coming back to this one. Your review explains and demonstrates the reasons why it’s a good bag better than anyone else. Very thorough. Thanks
I love the 35l but to expensive. I noticed that I was seeing college students with great backpacks and some with wheels. I ask where they were getting them, they said at the college book store. Great variety and even better prices. ❤
Based on your recommendation I bought the bag. Works well, haven't used it in rain but so far so good. I wish the company had told me about the import fees. I got hit with an $80 bill that I had to pay at Canada Post before Bag would be released.
jaymeez. I agree on the Osprey Farpoint 40. I fly EvaAir from Seattle via Taipei to Cebu philippines regularly. They weigh my bags. Many people are using wheeled hard sided carry-ons which weigh 7 lbs empty. The Farpoint has a waist belt and load lifter at the top. Also I have the Porter 46 which is great. Use business class as it is a 15 hour flight.
@@danielpearson4972 I recently took EVA Air to Bangkok with a layover in Taipei. I usually fly United out of San Francisco, but EVA had a more convenient flight time for me. My only complaint which is a big one is that EVA doesn’t let you select your seat like United does. Let me clarify, EVA will let you select your seat after you book the flight but for an additional fee. This pissed me off so bad but I’m not upset anymore. I went to the counter at each leg of the trip and told them I would volunteer to sit at the emergency exit and it worked for one leg and the other legs I lucked out and was able to switch out of the dreaded middle seat to a isle seat without extra charge. Suffice it to say I will be flying United going forward. I refuse to sit middle seat in economy for all those house and EVA makes it a possibility that I may have to do that.
@jaymeez I refuse to do anything with United. My company booked me a me flight from Chicago to Salt Lake and was viewing baggage being load and a man cut open my bag and stole electronic equipment and I filmed it. Turn this in and the man was an African and told me I was a racist and pulled me of the flight. Went to another airline. I consider United a very racist airline never had issues selecting a seat I travel 2 times a year on EvaAir to Cebu-Mactan from Seattle with a 3 hour layover
I own this bag (35L), and I absolutely hate it. There are a ton of pockets, sure, but you can't really use them all at the same time because there isn't enough space. I tried using it as a weekend bag, and for context I am a very small woman, so my clothing is not big. I brought one pair of jeans, two t-shirts, one sweater, a sleep shirt, underwear, a pair of flat sneakers (keds) and some basic toiletries (toothpaste and travel size shampoo)... and the bag looked like it was about to bust open. I would also advise that the straps are incredible thick, which looks comfortable but is very bulky if you are a petite person. It also picks up lint VERY quickly. ...I do love the 15L though. Do I need a lint brush? Yes. Worth it? Also yes.
This Video comes across like a sponsored Ad, the price is ridiculous, its not a case of it being Value for money, the weight is a factor. Personal opinion.
A fantastic bag. I honestly don’t understand what people are expecting to pay for something of this quality and build. Good things are expensive. Cheap won’t last.
Always seems unfair that some airlines will charge a 100 lb person for an overweight bag but a 300lb person within the bag limit would pay a smaller total cost of travel. Nevertheless great video as always.
@@plumairalbannach8492 they implied it was unfair, it is not. I get not wanting to sit next to bigger people on flights, but no one is charged for the weight they take up as a person. There is no metric for that as an added cost, a light person with an overweight bag is just someone with an overweight bag.
Bro, the bag is $457. Unless you are a person who travels for work all the time, the price does not make sense.

$457? Are you outside of the US? Their site has the 45l version for $345. Thats pricey still for sure. I ordered mine this morning on the rePakt site (Pakt customers resell items or Pakt sells returns) for $207. Much better.
Crazy thing is they are all sold out at the moment.

@@lw1405the guy literally says “the only 5 categories any traveler cares about” so yeah I expect it to be aligned with mine.
I had that same feeling about the travel clothing he suggested. I'm sure they are great but need affordable options also.

@@cornellcornell1 bruh you are insecure if you need a 300€ bag just to travel 😂 I’ve been all around Europe with a 20€ decathlon bag.
09-MAR-2024 35L $451 CAD and 45L $479 CAD
I mean don't get me wrong this bag looks amazing but the cost makes it hard to be a good replacement for my 2010 Osprey Porter 46
This is one of the best reviews of any product I have seen. Very informative while not overly detailed!

@@Michael-iw3ek $499 is far greater than $325
@@creatomayhem4395 To those who pay these kinds of prices it won't matter.
For me it is a problem as well. I wanted to purchase it, but with that shipping cost to Europe a no go for me as well. And I bought some other bags out of the US with same pricetags and far less shipping costs.
What did you get instead?
They are not the best travel bag because you are missing the most important consideration: Pricing
You pay for the best. Many frequent travelers prioritize function and are willing to pay for it. If price is most important to you buy a cheap pack or use a pillow case. Pretty much any vessel will work.

I agree, I also prefer more lightweight bags! :)
Agree and that heavy unpacked weight should impact comfort, one of his categories
If you insist on "carry-on only" then this wouldn't affect you, but:
If you ever decide to check this bag, airlines tend to toss bags onto belts front-side down--if you put your chargers and other electronics in the front pouch, they'll be getting crushed repeatedly by whatever weight is inside, along with the impact force from being tossed from a few feet up.

I was really sceptical about the “youtubee” title of the video but my God this was one of the best bag review videos on here. Well done.
It’s not a review. It’s an advertisement.
I kickstarted the Chase Reeves Pakt travel backpack and I’m THRILLED with the product! I am now a diehard, one bag traveler!
Thanks. I'm a bag nerd and I have quite a collection of bags for various uses and I look for CLEVER designs using quality materials with GREAT function, durability, and appearance. Looks like this one really checks all the boxes. :)

@@SeanBoswell Review? Aren’t reviews supposed to have a critical perspective? This is a pure advertisement and nothing more. No credibility.
LOL this bag costs more than higher end carry on suitcases
I prefer the YOREPEK Travel Backpack. It's a good size, tough, and has a built in USB setup for a power bank. I did add a cross strap to it for better fit. I've used it on a number of trips both local and overseas and it's worked great. I use storage cubes to help organize the clothing and the side, exterior pockets are good for shoes. It also has a cross strap to attach it to luggage with collapsible handles. And, it's only $28 vice $325!!
I am very impressed with your review. I went to the website and they are even offering a 15% discount. In spite of that , the bad would be very expensive for a casual traveler like me.
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Just bought one a few weeks ago...I concur.
It’s not a review but an advertisement.
If you want some padding on the day pack straps, there are fairly inexpensive padding options that are sold for car seat belts. I used them for other backpacks before and they work great.
Great tip, thanks. I also put a large bubble wrap envelope into the back of mine for cushioning 😊
Simcard removal tool = earring back. The loopy ones that hang.

The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Thanks for the tip. $325 for a backpack, even if it lasts the rest of my life, is just waaaaay too expensive.
For me there is a number 6 - that you can stow away the straps so it only looks like a backpack when you are using it as a backpack
So I own the AER Flight Pack 3 for trips up to 1 week and the Tom Bihn Techonaut 30 for 1-4 weeks

It looks like a great bag in either size, I favour the smaller, but the one issue I have is that it lacks security features like those found in Pacsafe bags. I have gone "all in" with Pacsafe and have a 40 Litre, a 10 Litre, and a fanny-pac...they're all slashproof and have hardware that lends itself to deterring thieves which make for a much more secure time traveling.

Really glad see how much they upgraded this bag to version 2. I’m just incredibly disappointed I was one of the early adopters of the v 1 with its many shortcomings. ALWAYS plan on doing some real world traveling soon after your purchase of a bag in this price point with the limited return policy.
Why does it feel like a lot of these comments were paid for…?
Because they are!
The 35L bag weighs over 4 pounds. the 45L weighs 4.4 pounds. what a pig!
Work out more
2.5KG @ $300+ for a soft sided carry on backpack is a non starter for me.
Actually, for wheeled luggage, the July Lightweight is 3.9 lbs and Lightweight expandable is 4.9 lbs. Plus Heys has some well under 7 lbs too.

$325 plus shipping. I got a nice 4 wheel prem bearings roller and a small to med laptop and cam bag for half. I'm sure it's good. Just can't justify twice the price for my use. If anything gets weak in the straps, it's not hard to reinforce with stronger sewing

I feel like a bag would definitely be easier to tote around than a big suitcase, which I feel only does well on airport floors. Love the video!
If you were going to buy a new backpack with your current insight, which would it be?
Thank you so much for introducing this bag as I never heard of this brand. It does seemed like the perfect bag. It seems difficult to find a bag without using those waterproof zip with coating which starts to pill over time, loses its function and looks horrible. It also has a ok looking logo. I know. I’m very picky and I found a lot of bags out there got an ugly logo… and I love the fact that this bag also got a hidden pocket! I don’t know why it’s so hard to find similar design.
me liking the product ----> going to the site ----> 😳 $345 ----> 😥😭
🌺Heidi
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
@suzettecalleja3122 🎉
Thank you! Never would have thought to look there. When I'm tired, wheels sound like heaven!
Based on your recommendation I bought the bag. Works well, haven't used it in rain but so far so good.
I wish the company had told me about the import fees. I got hit with an $80 bill that I had to pay at Canada Post before Bag would be released.
I'll stick with my trusted Osprey Farpoint 40L bag.....
But they are uglier. Osprey can’t make a stylish bag which looks good in the city.
@@jillbyford216 So you are a Form over Function type of fella
No, it is not. Airlines don't charge anyone for how much they weigh, they charge everyone for the weight of their bags.
But maybe they should is my point. @@theoneandonlybosable
This is not to drop the total weight of the flight. It’s to protect their workers when they lift and drop the bags
@@plumairalbannach8492 they implied it was unfair, it is not. I get not wanting to sit next to bigger people on flights, but no one is charged for the weight they take up as a person. There is no metric for that as an added cost, a light person with an overweight bag is just someone with an overweight bag.
It’s all about barriers. Preventing things rather than banning them.
This was extremely thorough! Thank you for this post, I really want one now.
Of course, it is a product marketing video. Not a review.
$450 for a bagpack? Hahaha yeah nice try.
I fly with Timbuk2 Classic Messenger XL. 56 liters. Never a problem, even on Ryanair.
😂 $325 for a freakin😂 backpack ? dude thinks he’s a comedian 😂
