Sorry you need to get your facts right. Pattie was living with Eric from 1971 onwards as his de-facto WIFE . They got married in the early 1980's, unfortunately it didn't last and they divorced.

@@donaldwilliams4019 It took him quite a while to deal with his son's death. I think he came to terms with it before he ever got to sing the song. Like he remembers the good times and knows he'll see his son again, so there's no more reason to be sad. I don't know how many times I've cried to this song over the years.
Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Right Down the Line’ is an incredible love song that gets right down to the heart of why he loves his partner. It’s underrated but powerful.
YES! I went into the comment section mention it too. Everyone has probably heard "Baker Street" by him at some point in their lives but for me "Right Down the Line" is by far my favorite Gerry Rafferty song, hell it might even be one of my favorite songs ever. I'd love to see Rob Squad react to it.
I met a girl on a blind date at a restaurant and after, we went to a bar where a local band played this song and I danced with her for the first time. Seven weeks later, I proposed and earlier this year (and 24 years later), we danced to this song again at our daughter's wedding. Such a great song.
Definitely this. Although this is an amazing song, it doesn't even come close to explaining why Eric Clapton is a rock god. Also the original version of Layla with Derek and the Dominoes (not the slow ballad remake from the 90s).
The tail end of the trilogy. You need to listen to George Harrison "Something" followed by Clapton "Layla". All inspired by the same woman. Along with Wonderful Tonight.
I love seeing you both be so loving to each other...having a newborn is hard work for sure but you are handling it with love, it’s written all over your face! Such a sweet reaction from you both, love it!!💕
This song was me and my late husband's song . Hes been gone since 2011. We were married in 1992. I thank you for the reaction on this one. I love you guys !!!
Awe thank you so much for this song… it was the song my husband and I danced to on our first date & at our wedding 17 years ago this month❤️ Another epic song by Eric Clapton is Tears in Heaven, it’s a song he wrote for his 4 yr old son who tragically passed away from falling from a 53 story building☹️ have your Kleenex ready.
This is the song my hubs & I danced to for our first dance at our wedding reception 16 years ago this past June! Love sharing it with you & your hubs (and many many others too, I have no doubt)! 😁
He is called “Slow Hand” for the style of his guitar plying. He’s the only artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 3 different times. Once for his participation in Cream, the second for Derek and the Dominoes, and last was for his work as a solo artist. He is an ikon. Look for some of his older work with those two bands.
FYI, Clapton’s best ballad, but hopefully you know he’s a guitar god; Derek and The Dominos, Cream, Blind Faith, lots of work with George Harrison including the solo in “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. Please do “Layla”, the Derek and the Dominos studio version. It’s rock treasure!! Clapton was having an affair with George’s wife Patti, and that’s what Layla is about.
Thank You for writing this so I didn't have to! I thought this song was about Patti, too? I have to add Eric got her, married her & George Harrison ( 1of the Beatles ) went to the wedding! The best is the instrumental in LAYLA!
Clapton is an amazing musician. Please check out Have You Ever Loved A Woman live, the blues beauty will amaze you!! PS Wonderful Tonight was what my husband and I danced to at our wedding.
You need to listen to his song “Tears In Heaven” it’s a song he wrote after his son sadly died when he fell out the window of his high rise apartment. The song is not only him dealing with his son’s death but his worry that due to his past he may not see his son again in Heaven. The song is so heartbreaking by itself but when you know the story behind it you can feel his pain. I can’t hear it without shedding a tear every time so make sure to have Kleenex nearby.
Pattie Boyd (a.k.a. “Layla”) recounts the details of her life with famous rockers in her autobiography, Wonderful Tonight (called Wonderful Today in the UK). Both George Harrison and Eric Clapton were unfaithful to her. Furthermore, she says that George neglected her in favor of his interest in Indian spirituality, and that when she left and married Eric, the new relationship was troubled by Eric’s addictions. In any case, she sure did inspire some beautiful songs.
If you want a good look at her, she’s the young blonde who sits in the luggage section of a train with the Beatles at the beginning of A Hard Day’s Night (ua-cam.com/video/68cqDJvzJao/v-deo.html). That movie is where she and George Harrison met.
Eric Clapton is like the king of rock and roll to me. His smooth sound that comes out of that guitar is just amazing! He's been given many many awards. He's considered a legend!
The female voice is Yvonne Elliman, who had hits with "I don't know how to Love Him" from "Jesus Christ Superstar", " If I Can't Have You". She also sang with the Bee Gees.
Suggestions: Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’ Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’ Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’ Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,’ and last but not least ... Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father.’
This was our wedding song. We were married in a coffee shop on a Wed evening and the local sports caster, a friend of mine, sang this song beautifully. This was 9 years ago yesterday.
Eric “Slow Hand” Clapton is considered one of the finest contemporary guitarist of all time.Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page & SRV are basically the others most people put in there too 5.
You are correct about Terry. There are some amazing guitarist out there. A good friend played with Joe Satriani for decades and others greats Steve Vie but he’s a big Beck fan. The debate continues. Lol.
Can't talk about the finest guitarists without mentioning a comment made by Eric when asked what it was like being considered by many to be the worlds greatest guitarist, "I don't know, you should go ask Prince."
Yeah again so many greats ones out there. Clapton kinda said the same thing about SRV. Prince was quite talented, sounds like you followed his career more closely then I did. The amount of talented musicians out there is staggering, but the best of the best is a different thing I’ve has the silly fortune of randomly making good friends with a few very good recording artist and they argue the same stuff. Lol. The debate keeps going
Two songs written by Clapton RE: Patty Boyd, this one and Layla. This song is played at weddings a lot. Love Slow Hand, seem him multi times. An abyss...wander thru. ❤👍🏽
Hee, love what Amber says about men from previous decades being able to express their vulnerability and feelings for their women because throughout those decades men were told they couldn't express their vulnerability and emotions and all of that 'mantra' was the forerunner to ideas like 'toxic masculinity' that are used to criticise men today ....maybe one decade it will be recognised that men are 'just fine'...and always have been...and we can get back to hearing, writing, singing songs like this again.
Written for George Harrison's(of the Beatles) wife, who he fell in love with. They later married, with George's blessing, George and Eric were best friends. (I guess you'd have to be!)
I just saw Eric Clapton this past Saturday at Amelia Arena. He is 75 now but you would never know it. He gave a stellar performance, sang and played guitar just like he did 40 or 50 years ago.🥰
This song was the third song written about Patti Boyd. The first was “Something” by The Beatle written by George Harrison who she was married to and is a phenomenal song. George and Eric were great friends and wrote songs together and Eric was the first artist to record on a Beatles track that was not in the band. He performed the lead guitar on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Eric fell madly in love with Patti and wrote one of his best songs ever while he was in Derek and the Dominoes “Layla” and she eventually divorced George and married Eric. Dispute this George and Eric remained close friends until George’s passing.
That was a seriously messed up time. Eric was openly in love with George's wife, depressed and binge drinking and drugging, while George was married to but being unfaithful to Patti and openly declared his love for fellow Beatle Ringo's wife---in front of Ringo and Patti. Somehow, in the end, George and Eric remained friends, and George and Ringo got past it to remain friends and even work together several times. All three remained good friends until George's death. George and Ringo both ended up divorced from their first wives and remarried, (presumably more successfully the 2nd time around since they stayed married) and Eric and Patti's marriage also ended in divorce after a few years.
Adding to the songs already mentioned: the earlier version of "After Midnight" and "I Shot the Sheriff." I would also agree that "Tears in Heaven" is gut-wrenching to listen to, given the circumstances.
'Tears In Heaven' is another song that's based om a true event...Eric Clapton has been around for a long time...one of my favorites! 'Layla' is another one.
Oh you have to hear his song No More Tears in Heaven . It’s his song about his son Connor passing away tragically. My ex wanted it played at our sons funeral. I couldn’t do it , that’s was his song for his son . My son loved Eric Clapton . I just wanted songs that where connected to us as a family . Yes it was selfish I guess but his Bio logical sperm donor wasn’t in his life . My husband my sons dad was there from 14 months to the end 27 1/2 years later and still today in his memory . Edit-- oh my husband and I have our spot outside we used to have lots of backyard spur of moment parties . Our son would play his guitar and we would sing laugh . Now it’s just us. Our sons friends stop by and we talk about all their memories here at the house , and we thank god we have the memories . Keep that spot sacred for you two and as kids grow older more memories to be made . Stories to be told , great conversations to be held between y’all and the kids , and their friends .
' This song is one of my favorites. Thank You. May I suggest - "Tears in Heaven" About the death of his son. I have trouble listing to it as I have my own tragedy with the death of my 3 month old grandson. “Layla” Was written for George Harrison Wife. Clapton was in love with her then eventually married her. You can chose between studio or an acoustic version of Layla. I recommend both as they both have their merits. Other people have been suggesting other good songs which I can 2nd. You can look up the story behind each song.
One of the "greatest rock guitarists" (began in the UK in the 60s, unique sound)....grouped with Hendrix, SRV, Page, etc.. A student and a seeker of the Blues his entire career and still. Music ultimately a matter of personal preference, but he is one of the cornerstones of our Rock legacy.
So much Clapton… White Room, from his time with Cream. Tears in Heaven, solo, about the death of his son. And, probably the greatest, Layla, from Derek and the Dominoes. Arguably the reason he’s in pretty much on everyone’s top 3 guitarist’s list.
I thank my parents for taking me to see Eric Clapton with Billy Preston love at Madison Square Garden. The first time I ever saw anyone smoke pot and it was a very elderly man in from of us. I was 14 and the whole experience has never left me.
Kids, this is one of the most romantic songs ever, I waltz round my house with my wife every time we hear this.E.C. is one of the planet's best guitarist/songwriter/singer. You have to review one from his CREAM days "WHITE ROOM", a majestic banger.take care and cheerio from Glasgow.
Patti Boyd inspired some of the most beautiful songs….Layla, Bell Bottom Blues, Wonderful Tonight, she’s Waiting, Old Love….then there’s “Something”….and a couple lesser known. Eric Clapton was the best concert I ever saw and I have seen quite a few. My first being Bob Dylan in ‘78…..
You are so right about the sweetness of the words...it's called romantic! Songs of my generation rocked with romance. Thanks so much for doing this! Do Layla it's about the same woman and the guitar is too much!!❤
I'd love to see your reaction to a couple of the guitarists that influenced Clapton, like Buddy Guy, BB King, or Freddie King, or even earlier recordings by Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy or Muddy Waters.
Buddy Guy is a must. He influenced everyone ... Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards even Hendrix. Buddy is guitar royalty ! His song 'Skin Deep' is a perfect song to match the vibes this channel puts out about togetherness and treating everyone with respect.
@@chadwhitfield6946 So totally right slipped my mind . Just listened to some Cream the other day. Thanks for reminding me. Guess that's what happens when you start to get old. ✌
This is one of _three_ songs that were written about model/actress Patty Boyd: "Wonderful Tonight", "Layla", and the Beatles "Something". She'd been married to Harrison when he wrote "Something", and when they were going through a rough patch, Clapton (who was a good friend of Harrison's) wrote "Layla" to let her know he was available. Boyd and Harrison divorced, and she later married Clapton-a wedding which Harrison actually attended.
This was my senior prom theme song and I love it so much. He’s been inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame three times, one with Cream, then Derek and the Dominoes and then as a solo artist. You could spend a year discovering his music. A common saying back then was “Clapton is God”.
One of my favourite songs of all time, even the guitar 🎸 intro melts me, let alone the lyrics. Every woman, so wants this, to be her man, singing about her. Xxx

@@donaldwilliams4019 It took him quite a while to deal with his son's death. I think he came to terms with it before he ever got to sing the song. Like he remembers the good times and knows he'll see his son again, so there's no more reason to be sad. I don't know how many times I've cried to this song over the years.
MTV unplugged version is incredibly powerful
@@mikec5309 That version was the first public playing. He debuted it on MTV Unplugged.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story. Best wishes
"Tears in Heaven" - unbelievable he can write and then sing such a deeply personal song. Heart wrenching back story.
I am 68yrs old and I think we had the best music growing up? TIMELESS
Slowhand. One of the guitar gods.
For more Eric Clapton , check out his 60's band Cream.
Try Sunshine of Your Love or White Room.
Definitely this. Although this is an amazing song, it doesn't even come close to explaining why Eric Clapton is a rock god. Also the original version of Layla with Derek and the Dominoes (not the slow ballad remake from the 90s).
Yes, in Cream with Ginger Baker one of the best drummers in the world.
The tail end of the trilogy. You need to listen to George Harrison "Something" followed by Clapton "Layla". All inspired by the same woman. Along with Wonderful Tonight.
I'm pretty sure Old love is about her as well.
And Bell Bottom Blues
The infamous patty Boyd
I love seeing you both be so loving to each other...having a newborn is hard work for sure but you are handling it with love, it’s written all over your face! Such a sweet reaction from you both, love it!!💕
This song was me and my late husband's song . Hes been gone since 2011. We were married in 1992. I thank you for the reaction on this one. I love you guys !!!
My favorite thing ive heard about this song is "this is not a love song. This wasnt just love. This is sheer, unfettered adoration."
@@TNbeachgirl30a Happy Belated Anniversary 🍷
@@audracrawford8836 why thank you! And a very Happy Anniversary to you too!
If one day Yardbirds will be inducted too, it means 4 times!!
He was also nicknamed "slowhand" for how long he took to change a broken guitar string in his younger days.
He was inducted for Yardbirds, not Derek And Dominoes.
@@ericroth4747 I was just gonna say that 😄
Not quite right he was inducted for The Yardbirds, Cream and his solo work.
He really makes that guitar talk, being one of the best players in the world helps. He also is a great plus writer.
My favorite guitar player....so smooth and pure...
Love you guys. Thanks again for a favorite. Thanks for expressing the difference of a man laying it out there, Amber.
Thank You for writing this so I didn't
have to! I thought this song was about Patti, too? I have to add Eric got her, married her & George Harrison ( 1of the Beatles ) went to the wedding! The best is the instrumental in LAYLA!
@@lindaingallsobrien4217 This song is about Patti. As are various other ones. Something by the Beatles, Bell Bottom Blues, etc.
@@kroft6799 , “Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad” is another.
Clapton is an amazing musician. Please check out Have You Ever Loved A Woman live, the blues beauty will amaze you!! PS Wonderful Tonight was what my husband and I danced to at our wedding.
I'd like to heat and see It's In the Way that You Use it. Good vocals and great guitar (of course!)
Our song as well!!
Beautiful song. It was my wife and my wedding song. This song and Loius Armstrongs What a wonderful world were our first two songs. Great choice!
Lay Down Sally is another great Clapton tune.
The background music is hauntenly beautiful and Eric's vocals just tops it off.
I have been dj ing weddings for almost 40 years and this has been one of the most requested songs
She was also the he inspiration for George Harrison to write the Beatles hit “Something”.
I'd recommend "Layla" by Derek & The Dominoes (another of Clapton's bands), and choose the full length version -- it's like two songs in one.
Clapton wrote Bell Bottom Blues for Patti
If you want a good look at her, she’s the young blonde who sits in the luggage section of a train with the Beatles at the beginning of A Hard Day’s Night (ua-cam.com/video/68cqDJvzJao/v-deo.html). That movie is where she and George Harrison met.
horrible woman, couldn't keep any of her men.
As soon as he starts singing this I start bawlin. Every. Single. Time!! 😭❤️
Isn't it her and Marcy Levy or is it just her?

Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’
Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’

A classic "wedding " song. Beautiful song. Sweeter side of Eric. He is a guitar God . You may want to deep dive him.
This is our favorite slow dance wedding song 🥰
This was our wedding song. We were married in a coffee shop on a Wed evening and the local sports caster, a friend of mine, sang this song beautifully. This was 9 years ago yesterday.
God? Hardly.
Eric “Slow Hand” Clapton is considered one of the finest contemporary guitarist of all time.Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page & SRV are basically the others most people put in there too 5.
When you talk about guitarists of all time, Terry Kath deserves to be included in the conversation.
Jam session. Jimi, SRV, et al, incredible to think about.
❤👍🏽
His guitar playing is what gave him the nickname of "Slow Hands" He knows how to make a guitar sing the blues without words
Tunnel brothers
@@SLesCauley OOOOh ya!
Interesting… I didn’t know that.
I just saw Eric Clapton this past Saturday at Amelia Arena. He is 75 now but you would never know it. He gave a stellar performance, sang and played guitar just like he did 40 or 50 years ago.🥰
This is so wonderful, i always got tears in my eyes. So beautiful..mmmmmmhhhh
I came here to say the same :)
SLOWHAND! One of the greatest guitar players ever
If you love her voice, the backup singer, listen to 'The Core' by Clapton, she sings half the song with him and she's wonderful.
Is it Core or Cure?
@@JayJohnson-sb7xe Core
Her name is Marcy Levy. On the same album, she sounds super sexy on "Lay Down Sally" and burning hot on "The Core"- a truly underrated rocker...
I think that's the same person who is known as Marcella Detroit in Shakespear's Sister.
A favorite along with Promises.
Cry tears from heaven it is one of his most beautiful songs
Gotta try "Lay Down, Sally" by Clapton! :)
Always liked Tulsa Time, both are more upbeat
Adding to the songs already mentioned: the earlier version of "After Midnight" and "I Shot the Sheriff." I would also agree that "Tears in Heaven" is gut-wrenching to listen to, given the circumstances.
eric clapton is so great, so mellow, so sincere. my favorite song by him is tears in heaven written about his son that past away.
Lay Down Sally From the 70s ,, A Big hit of his as well
'Tears In Heaven' is another song that's based om a true event...Eric Clapton has been around for a long time...one of my favorites! 'Layla' is another one.
You guys are so sweet and I love listening to the great music I grew up with. The music from the sixties and seventies was outstanding.
He is one of the greatest guitar player they call him slow hands cause he can do so much and it doesn't look like he's moving his hands that quick
Nothing is any better than when the guy you love sends you this song…it made me melt 💞

Tears in Heaven my Clapton is a must. Sad, but beautiful.
When I used to DJ wedding dances, this was always the last song of the night. Great memories, friends.

This song is one of my favorites.
I love all decades of Eric Clapton. He is my favorite artist.
Eric is a proper legend and one of the great modern blues guitarists and songwriters
So much Clapton…
White Room, from his time with Cream.
Another beautiful love song where the singer is sweet and vulnerable: "Something" by the Beatles!
And it's about the same woman Patti Boyd/Harrison/Clapton.
I love the joy you're finding in all these classic rock songs
Tears in heaven is another great one from Mr. Clapton. Y'all gotta check it out .
Jim Croce’s I had to tell you in a Song. just a man and his guitar
Do Layla it's about the same woman and the guitar is too much!!❤
This song was millions of people's First Dance at their weddings ever since the 1980s!
The Yardbirds, Derek and the Domino's were bands that Clapton played in. Many hits. You should listen to "Hypnotized" by Fleetwood Mac. ✌
How you gonna forget Cream?
Tears in heaven is a beautiful song by Eric Clapton aka Slowhand.
This was my senior prom theme song and I love it so much. He’s been inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame three times, one with Cream, then Derek and the Dominoes and then as a solo artist. You could spend a year discovering his music. A common saying back then was “Clapton is God”.
Tears in Heaven is a beautiful tear jerker. He wrote it after his son's death and knowing that really makes you feel the song even more💕
Good ol’ Slowhand! He’s one of the greatest guitarists to ever play. You gotta check out “Tears In Heaven”. Bring the tissues…
One of my favourite songs of all time, even the guitar 🎸 intro melts me, let alone the lyrics. Every woman, so wants this, to be her man, singing about her. Xxx
