We hope you've enjoyed our two docs on the past, present and future of Bethesda Game Studios. We have a half dozen smaller videos on everything from the design of Fallout Shelter, to The Dark Brotherhood and more. Make sure to sub to get all these docs for free too. Again, a massive thanks to our Patrons for funding this work, and to you for watching. It's been incredibly humbling to see so many of you care about our work. We think we're at the start of an exciting new adventure for games coverage and are delighted to have you along for the ride. The best is yet to come. Thank you all.
one of the urban legends they need to add is the legend about the river monster sorry I couldn't find the name the other one should be the white thing or and the sheepsquach
I live in West Virginia (between Grafton and Morgantown) and I don't think Bethesda realized how excited the people here would be about being the center point of a large video game franchise. Bars are having launch parties, its been all over the news, and I've even seen multiple people saying that they are going out to buy a console just so they can play this game.
MyFatCatPumpkin - I live close to Boston and Fallout 4"s map blew me away sometimes when I was exploring. The Salem Witch museum looked exactly like the real world version just scaled down.
Yeah... I mean you know if people are around because you can see them on the map right? I have however seen that in the pip-boy, there is no map option? The map they showed looked like a physical flyer in-game like the perk-chart in fallout 4. Maybe you can acces the map via the settlement system... build it or something like that?
Noclip will never say anything bad in their documentaries mostly because they want to be able to do more documentaries in the future go back to all of their videos and see anything bad against the company any company that they're working with you will not because they are working with them and they want to work with them in the future it's so if they say something bad about them then they won't work with them in the future so they don't say anything bad about them and they only say good things about the games in the documentaries and how the games are made and all the good things and the good press about the games you will never hear all of the bugs and microtransactions and issues within the games from a noclip documentary
It would be fascinating to have them return for a followup. Maybe after the big wastelanders update that's supposed to add a whole new main quest and NPCs hits. I've had fun with 76 but there's no denying there's a lot of problems with it. Giving the team at Bethesda a chance to explain it all might not be the best idea *right now,* but depending on how confident they are with that overhaul, who knows.
@@umadbroimatroll7918 It's the cleverest decision. That's why when the post-mortem on what went wrong with this game will inevitably happen - it'll be most likely be on NoClip. They've been trying to maintain excellent relationships with more-or-less everyone. Bad-mouthing just for clickbait, in the end gets you nowhere in life. A general life lesson most people learn sooner or later.
@@yinoveryang4246 here is the thing no clip will not be the one to make that documentary. They are so focussed on pleasing their corporate overlords that they will never talk bad about a game you will never hear about anything bad in a game from a no clip documentary. The thing is that doesn't make it a bad documentary noclip has to keep good relations with all of their business partners so that they are able to get information that other games journalists are not able to get. That's the main reason no clip has the style of documentaries instead of game reviews and game journalism because companies allow them to come into their Studios to give interviews and to look at the unfinished games because they will not say anything bad about them unlike other games journalist and games reviewers.
@@umadbroimatroll7918 Even when Studios have gone bust, or fallen out with each other (like Id or Telltale), they try to keep all parties happy. (Although they made one or two quite gentle assertions with Telltale actually). Who knows who's responsible anyway ? To jump to conclusions about where the mistakes were made, and who was responsible is deeply unfair. Because no-one, apart from the people working in these studios, actually knows who made those decisions. Although people like Todd Howard, who is clearly a creative man with ideas, not a money-man necessarily, gets lambasted. But who actually knows what pressures he was under? He's the only face, the face of that studio, and therefore gets attacks that are sometimes personal - and that's not an easy place to be. But there's only going to be one way to find out isn't there ... and that's to have a good relationship with people. With everyone. Their positive relationship with studios like CDPR, will stand them in good stead. They can also most probably be trusted with confidentialities, and I imagine they're contractually bound to keep confidentialities also. They're trusted because they seem to care about journalistic standards - meaning accuracy.
God what id give to be able to walk around Bethesda studios and hear all there story's. There just so passionate & have so much history it's just so interesting
as a West Virginian, this is like the only game that takes place in my home state. Playing the game and to be able to go to Cities that I have actually been to myself and actually see often is the coolest thing
5:45 This explains so much of what happened (bugs) with fallout 76. They took something that was designed for one player and tried to shortcut making it a multiplayer game. It explains why there were bugs from Fallout 4 still in fallout 76 and why there are a lot of issues. It makes me wonder how much harder it would have been to start from scratch and steal little bits and pieces of code from Fallout 4 as opposed to trying this "shortcut" of forcing a single player game into multi player.
They should have just made the game completely in the Id Tech engine instead. But they are stubborn bastards that insist to keep using their shitty engine which was already way outdated by the time Fallout 4 came out.
@@malbeth8700 They keep using it for the easy modability. They rely on fans to fix their bugs and create new content. id Tech is completely different. Additional sales for their released games come through people buying them to mod the shit out of them and offer new things for years later.
@@malbeth8700 then it would lose the fallout essence; the feel and distinct way the game systems play would be lost... and the fallout charm alongside it.
@@lunacystudy2470 I don't know the term Technical Debt, but does it describe the situation that they already spent so much time, money and resources into their own engine, and are very familiar with it, that switching to a different one like Unreal would not be worth it?
Danny, Bethesda’s marketing team should be immensely grateful for the work you’ve done here. This candid BTS material was exactly what I needed to get excited for Fallout 76, I hope the same can be said for many more concerned Fallout fans. Keep doing what you do, you’re the bloody best at it!
Microtransactions were the final nail in the coffin for me. I could deal with the 100% online, no singleplayer, no human npcs, and other things but as soon as they said there will be microtransactions for a game people are already paying full fucking price for I ejected. I used to be a huge Fallout fan but Bethesda is completely screwing this up and I hope it tanks massively.
T51B1 *Cosmetic optional microttransactions that allow them to make us free dlc and support the game constantly* You're one of them special folks aren't you?
I am convinced NoClip's crew has actually moved into the Bethesda studios, and are living on a diet of sweet rolls, Nuke Cola and Skyrim VR as exercise. I don't mind though, the documentaries are great. Sacrifices were made.
After E3 i was worried about Fallout 76, it really wasn't a direction I wanted Fallout to go in, but having watched this video i am super hyped about it, lot's of interesting mechanics and the world design looks epic
I’m hyped too! I can already imagine trading someone some 5.56 for some gauss rifle ammo then blowing them up right after lol. Really made me wonder what’s at greenbrier tho. Maybe a stash of T-51s or some high end weapons
What I've gotten from this video, feel free to add on: -Ghouls called the "Scorched" to replace raiders -2 headed possums and irradiated hostile plants -63 "things" (enemies?) And more? -6 regions of the map with own flavor and difficulty -Crashed space station -Paper Maché masks (10) -Public workshops to claim -There is ore, lead, For example, can make bullets "C.A.M.P has restrictions, "so you don't camp outside the vault and grief" -Crafting system retained "and more" -Eating and drinking is apparently a necessity like FO4 Survival Mode, you can "starve". -Diseases -"Mutations", no inverse rad health bar (I believe) the more rads you have the more likely you are to be "mutated": "Like 'Traits' from FO1+2 Where they have pluses and minuses" (Curable, along with ways to permanently get them for ones you really like). Mostly gameplay, some are visual. -Weapon condition from FO3 is back so you're never "comfortable" -Bartering between players (like trade) -"Perk cards" with a limited amount and re-rolls, you can also share perk cards with your party allowing "specialists" in your group. Also in the end give you plus and minuses -POSSIBILITY of setting up a robot vendor -"Wanted" level for highly aggressive players -24-32 people in the map (you can see where they are) -Possible team deathmatch -Cosmetic microtransactions (still able to earn through gameplay) -Free updates "for years to come"
Haha just went through a load of nonsense to try to figure out how to link a video to a certain time, but it was the full shorthand link instead of just the timestamp... How do you do that?
0_o lol how many free mods do you think will be on a online only game....... and look at the amount of mods on the nexus vs the creation club.... outsourced dlc o ya! paying for weapon skins and three new guns I can't wait! X_X
Not if you've actually played the game. This video perfectly explains Fallout 76, what it is, why they did it. It's a great game if you're not expecting Fallout 5.
Bro, I was literally thinking the exact same comment. And you stole it, Bryson. HAHA. They're all so happy talking about this trash heap dumpster fire. So cute. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I was originally very dismissive when i heard that the game was Online only....but after seeing this documentary i feel a little bit more confident in it and i might genuinely purchase it in the future
It won't be permanent. Its just a temporary Vault-Tec experiment to see how we collide and when the nuclear dust clears from our wars, what's left afterwards. This war, this war requires changes...gotta go to war first. Its all in the sake of fun.
Totally agree with you, there will be no element of surprise when you're able to see where other players are, at all times. I really don't like this detail, but it might just work.
Honestly, I had no idea who Danny O'Dwyer nor Noclip was prior to these two videos. But... damn, this is good stuff. This will be my next YT binge. Really looking forward to watching the CD Projekt Red doc.
I don't understand why people thumbs down a documentary because they didn't like the events covered.. because this is an excellent documentary, from content to presentation.. thumbing down this video has no effect on bethesda, at all, it only affects to two people who are "no clip".. don't shoot the messenger
It was a learning opportunity for them and they've reflected and have said they aren't doing anything quite like this again because they don't feel super proud of it
Bethesda would rather bend this engine over backwards until it looks like a pretzel rather than just building a new one. You can bet Starfield will have all the same bugs and quirks and most importantly, crippling limitations that all their current games do. Not to mention poor Fallout 76.
Ol dude totally almost revealed you can be Ghoulified while talking about the mutation system...he had a big ol grin from when saying 'visual differences' c'mon, smoothskin..
"We don't want raiders because we don't want players to question if gunfire is other players or not." "New faction of ghouls known as the Scorched who still know how to use guns." 🤔
Draz you mean you can’t tell the difference between a ghouls and a raider? I can The ghoul is the one that looks like a god damn melted zombie. Make sense yet?
The whole point was they wanted GUNFIRE to tell you there were human players. Yet, ghouls will have GUNS. As far as I know, the sound a gun makes doesn't change just because the person who pulled the trigger is full of radiation. Also, the fact that PLAYERS ARE SHOWN ON THE MAP, makes the argument ridiculous as well. This is just their justification for not having any friendly groups/factions to interact with. This game will have no real quests. Just simplistic MMO style quests, even though it is just an -MO.
Indeed, people are so used to bs games like Rust that make fun at the expense of someone elses. They refuse to believe it can be done any other way and wont even make an attempt to try it or even consider how it could be done properly. Perhaps its a product of gaming culture these days or maybe of the human condition as a whole.
Russell O Like I care. This turd became an *EASY* pass the second they revealed it's just a shitty Rust copy/paste and not an *actual* Fallout game 😂😂😂
As a West Virginia local, I'm personally really excited about 76. Especially with the Capital being a stone's throw away from my neighborhood. I've lived all along the Kanawha river and I'm wonderfully excited to visit my bombed out home sites!
Must be really cool for you! My friend's excited because he and I live in relatively the same region(East Tennessee), so he's excited that we share the same geography and culture as West Virginia. I've never really felt anything special about Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas' locations because I've never seen them(or anything like them) in person. (At least, until last year I visited DC).
I especially like the part where Todd says he doesn't want the game to be boring. Anyone else watching this post-launch with a bemused look on your face?
LMFAO yeah. I've been having fun with friends and kinda alone but the Uber lonely feeling missing the NPCs hurts solo. Nothing personal which sucks. Fallout felt lonely enough so that burst of euphoria and happiness when you found non hostile humans was amazing and added to the charm of camps and cities. Lore wise there shouldn't be any I guess but I wish they added them but made raider types just rare as fuck since there's so few what if another very large vault opened but they were bad guys. And NPCs for quest I get that wouldn't make since but could've also just made up some outside vaults that opened and people spreadyl out. Even if they were few and far between humans giving wuest would've felt better.
@@Saint_Ixtab Only lies I've seen are the majority of shit people are spewing about the game. 5 months ago when this Documentary was released, I watched it a couple of times. When I finally played the beta it was exactly what I expected and wanted, zero regrets paying full price, even after that sale.
this looks a lot more fun then what we were shown at e3. i wish they would have shown character specialization with perk cards and what not, more on the nukes and it creating high end areas. todd saying a dozen characters rather then 24-32 really sets off concerns especially in a world 4x the size of fallout 4. but this was a great documentary. can't wait for the beta.
Same here. I love hearing 4x the size of Fallout 4, but is 24-32 too little people? 32 might work alright, I feel as though 24 is too low. I was hoping for 50ish with the size of the world though. That's what I'm most anxious about for sure. Still, I'm hyped.
Right they should have said more at e3. I was still excited but now I'm even more excited now. Nukes was the only thing I was against but now they sound cool
Jackson Kellams, weren't a lot of people afraid of having too many people? i think having a low number is good and makes player interactions more rare and unique, but that's just my thoughts :P
damn it I was wondering where the hell did that notification come from since discord only shows you something for pings but not notifications (when you enable notifications for all messages on a channel for instance)
Todd says the Fallout fans are so smart but then you scroll down to read the comments and there are literally hundreds of people commenting about this guy's discord notification. Unbelievable.
I was skeptical at first of multiplayer fallout, but it seems like they really tried to go all out and make it work. I'm interested to see how it turns out.
I've been super skeptical because this is something I've NEVER wanted, and to top it off I really really did not like 4. This has my interest piqued though. I may actually give it a try. I'm still going to wait for reviews and bugs to be worked out though.
It looks like they tried to go all out making a big cash cow that they admit they still haven't figured out what the identity (usually the first thing you figure out when making a product) of it is supposed to be yet, despite announcing its release in 5 months...is what it lools like
Chilliam Ace Im sure whatever FoO game you imagined this whole time, was infinitely cooler than this game. Also, how is that a good thing with 4 being so bad, seeing as this game is elaborating on all the shitty things from 4, just online?
By going all out you mean they've handed it to someone else because Zenimax are desperate to cash in but the actual main Bethesda people have no interest in making it. A bit like Elder Scrolls Online wherever that went. It's always the same story, Rockstar North had no intention of an online mode for GTAV so Rockstar Games hounded Leslie Benzies out of his own studio and handed his franchise to someone else. Games that are made solely for profit by studios that were handed them are never as good as those that are made out of love by a studio that wanted to make them. Just look at Battlefield Hardline, EA took DICE's franchise and gave it to a third party who released a shit game.
76 is bad and BGS is pulling some shady crap with atoms, leaking customer info and the like. But I still liked the video and appreciate the time that went into making it. Keep on on making great docs, even if the games are duds.
I couldn't wipe the grin off my face after I heard about the mutations (: You've somehow gotten me even more excited for this game than I already was. Excellent work.
I'm hoping that somehow we could look like a Ghoul. I mean like, they said that some of the traits are for cosmetics right?I'm so excited to see these mutations further more
After watching this I feel like Fallout 4 was the game they had to make whereas 76 is the game they really wanted to make. Honestly so much more excited about this after seeing this.
Everything the dude in the gray Mothman shirt says probably sounded positive at the time, but now it's like every word he says makes me think he was secretly shitting on the game.
Honestly the idea wasn’t bad just they had a poor execution and couldn’t get it to run good which is why it’s crap same with the story in some locations they lack interest so honestly this isn’t a Bethesda game it’s a mess
They had the Star Wars Galaxies guys attached and then it made sense. Galaxies is a true sandbox where the player is given a few tools and they make their own adventures, towns and journeys. Theres a few npc but the players make the economy, gear etc Whereas say The Old Republic that replaced it is a curated experience. Like a BGS game vs a Bioware one. Say Skyrim vs a Dragon Age affair. In time 76 will be popular to a niche audience as Galaxies has become, unfortunately Galaxies is now entirely fan supported and has waaayy more bugs and glitches, but its forgiven. I disagree with the missteps in the monetisation, but tbh after the Worlds update, the subscription model is a good way to go. Groups can play together in their own space curated by the Game master of sort. When it's ironed out a bit, the host can add different conditions to the session like double XP and such, spitballing here but you get what I mean? The group's structures and factions are more persistent for them. One week the Host can add a hellish Radstorm to the area and tweak up the difficulty. The players have to take shelter more often and theres greater risk vs reward. In the aftermath farms gain greater yield, but the enemies retain their difficulty etc. The person who does pay the subscription who's invested can have a toolkit they can play about with and get creative to set the tone and then watch as the gameplay emerges. One guy wants to be the camp provisioner who cooks and makes stew and guns. One woman wants to be the Doctor with a chem habit. A couple want to hit mines for loot. Maybe the head of the group is the server guy and creates a Walking Dead type heirarchy, or Maybe they play as a hermit? Or the group joins the settlers and the host the Raiders orrr...lThey all can on their server. You know roleplayers...
I was thinking of him being some sort of powerful foe that has the ability to create a cataclysmic event that would wipe out the rest of surviving humanity. Sort of like a Dr. Manhattan-type of being who is made out of radioactive matter.
I love it when game devs uses spin-offs like this to stir the pot, to add a new angle to a established IP. I'm looking forward to Fallout 76 as a fresh way to experience the universe before coming back to the traditional single player experience once Fallout 5 comes around.
I like that you understand that this is an experiment and they're trying something new, meanwhile the people bitching about it would also bitch if they made fallout 5 and didn't add anything new.
The Internet has the habit to bitch about one of 2 things. 1) this is just the same game with a new coat of paint. 2) they completely changed the game its not even (game) anymore.
"We didn't want raiders because they'd have guns and players wouldn't know if it was an NPC or a player shooting. So we put in ghouls with guns instead. Also there's Super Mutants, and they have guns too."
They probably won’t since 76 was only born because they didn’t want to scrap the multiplayer mode from fallout 4. I imagine if the game does super well they might make more to go along with future main line titles but they would make it a separate game like this one just something to play once you finish the main title
He's not wrong. The persistent cell based gameplay mechanics are a major draw for their games, and no other contemporary company does it. Even the likes of TW3 has mere bag drops of loot and very little object interaction with the world, though I hope CDProjekt does something with Cyberpunk 2077 along the lines that BGS operates here.
he is right. Most games dont have this feature where you can just pick up items in the world like that. It adds a level of immersion many games do not have.
Darn. Todd seems like a really nice person here. I would relay like him to tell the real story of Fallout 76 some day and show us what went so wrong with it's launch. I am glad the game is better now in 2023, and people are enjoying it, but that launch... It's puzzling. This documentary doesn't solve this puzzle. One thing I know is Todd is happy to try and fail, rather than sit and do boring things. And I can respect that. But the way they handled their fan base was unimaginably bad, and I can't get behind that stuff.
Give everyone a choice; A. You are shown on the map and see everyone that has also gone for option A. B. You are not shown on the map and see no one, not even the ones that went with option A.
I think Todd pushed for the I can see people on the map feature because you don’t have a map at you at all times. ( 22:01 ) It looks like it will be somewhere else than the pip-boy? Maybe built in your camp? Maybe just like the perk-chart accesed with a press of a button like in F4. The map they showed in this game is apparently a physical in-game flyer like the perk-chart.
Maties Cleasen make sense in a way, if all other players are supposed to be fellow vault 76 dwellers, maybe they have trackers on there pitboy? A boring easily argued explanation, but it's somethig, it'd be okay if it wasent a live portable map, of your interested in the pvp aspect anyway
I think it should be like this. There is a list of everyone in the server, and you can choose who appears on your map for playing with friends, and you can hide yourself from other but it stops you from seeing others. So its like there is a choice between your two options, but you can choose who appears on your map.
@Dennis Rue No one knew except Bethesda. If anyone had doubts, they probably weren't ad bad as that. Bethesda probably knew how to hide their failures well enough from the camera crew or something
This is what a publishing company NEEDS to do. Look at these iconic developing companies coming together to merge their legendary codes into one! SHIT IS AWESOME!!!
agreed, however it'd be better if Bethesda went ahead and borrowed the Idtech Engine and did away with Gamebryo, all their games would instantly improve after that lol better lighting, worlds look better, it seemed to handle a RPG lyte and hardcore shooting and driving no prob, lighting, character models & all that looked good and I think on a larger scale no vehicles they could totally do Fallout or TES in that engine without all the frakkups Gamebryo brings; eh, no matter the engine though there's always strengths and weaknesses but I think Idtech has more strengths....
On one hand, they really seem to want to make a good game and its good they want to take risks. However, even though they did do their research on the area and building areas, the interview suggests their approach to designing mechanics seems plain chaotic and unfocused. Its weird how much they seem focused on busywork and a type of tourism approach to the exploration. The worldbuilding and gameplay style that made the IP famous, the one made by Black Isle studios and Obsidian, were diametrically opposed to this. Then I hear them say "it still feel like Fallout", I can't help but ask "what are you talking about? Do you even understand the core pillars of this franchise" ?
I think ill make a anti greifing squad.. i mean near the start of the game people will wait near there to kill new players, im going to be the first to defend them from those type of players.
I can't believe how well you and your team timed the release of this video with the E3 reveals to tell a coherent story for people who have watched the Bethesda conference but you had to film and edit it all beforehand. Bravo 👏👏👏
BackfallGenius: The video had probably been ready for a while before E3, but they were under an NDA (non disclosure agreement) until the game was officialy announced. Same with every other site that had videos out within minutes of the announcement.
> Build a new map with old assets You haven't played it, clearly. > make some new monsters Quite a few, actually. > add Skyrim Together Mod OFFICIAL multiplayer, and it actually works. > add some new bugs shit happens... I hope they try an Elder Scrolls 76, ESO sucks dirty assholes
Gibblets To use your own words against you, you clearly never played ESO and are just complaining. You expect ESO to be elder scrolls 6 when it is its own separate thing to tide fans over until elder scrolls 6.
This video has dispelled a lot of my fears for Fallout 76....but I still have questions dammit :) Thank you for making this and Thank you BGS for making great...but buggy games :)
I was never worried about microtransactions and potential player advantage...Bethesda probably saw the shitstorm EA did and went...nope...not gonna happen, cosmetics only,......but will we see horse armour?
MMOJunkie the only one that actually worries me is the nukes I want to explore every area in the game and I don't want no d bag blowing up an area I haven't been to yet.
Salad sounds like you don't understand what I was saying, I'm saying NPC's are replaced by players I know thats hard to understand but i thought it would be pretty simple
They also didn't get the greatest response from everyone after revealing this - Some people just can't handle having spin-off's thrown at them, meanwhile I"ve noticed around this time many game companies are doing spin-off's. Seem's they're all buying themselves time before coming out with their next big mainline's, but hopefully they're going to deliver something everyone will like.
Expected? 76 hasn't even come out. Fallout 4 was a great game. It had issues like everything else in the world, but that doesn't make it bad. It bothers me so much when people just bitch and bitch. Do you even enjoy having fun? Do you just live to be pessimistic? You expected more? Well, how about you go help develop a fucking expensive ass, massive, single-player game with hundreds of hours of playtime and then get back to me.
Grant No sorry i cant have fun with developers milking and ignoring their fanbase just to make more money and reach a bigger audience. If you like doing it then go on and eat the shit and be happy while doing it, but dont start shitting on others peoples concerns about franchises they love(d). There are reasons why people complain so much you asshat, just cause you don't share the opinions doesnt mean you have to tell everybody they are "just bitching".
It's important for the long term survival of 76 that they adopt a Warframe mentality. Regular updates, constant receivement and acknowlegdment of player feedback.
I recall one of the interviews they did confirmed they'll be splitting the studio into two teams: one will handle large content updates(what those could end up being, we have no idea. Maybe another quest?), and one will handle smaller updates such as bugfixes and new armor and stuff.
I live in north central Oregon and a common joke among us is that eastern Oregon looks like it could be a Fallout game. Like it looks exactly like some parts of fallout 2 and New Vegas.
Not going to lie, I was very against the whole online thing and after Bethesda’s E3 I was even more so leaning that way. After seeing this doc though I’m interested. Pete Hines tweeted that you don’t have to engage in PvP if you didn’t want to which is big for me. The map looks great and I like how they’re focusing on exploring.
Freaking Wendigos are in the game. And also that mothmans going to stalk you then attack you is scary. Seeing him in the woods just watching you puts me on edge. Spoopy
You know back in the day when I heard about Fallout ONLINE I was sad that it was cancelled. It saddens me more that people do not want to open their mind to a concept. I'm personally excited about this, this isn't gonna be their last fallout game. Why not see what happens?
People feel like Fallout is branching away from its roots with multiplayer and this is why many want private servers since they dont want to deal with online trolls and play the game somewhat single player
Interplay tried to do multiplayer in Black Isle Studios Fallout 3 (Van Buren) but got cancelled because the publisher company had went way over their head with the budget on a simple game project that would of succeeded without being too over ambitious in front of the developers. Stupid bastards!
Steel Paaya Folks asked non stop for a ES or Fallout multiplayer. You want a RP type game this year, I hear Wasteland 3 is coming out. There are tons of great RP games over the last few years, but there is not A Fallout multiplayer like countless folks on Bethesda forums and Steam forums have been droning on about for years. On and Dachshund Dog, Interplay would have had the budget had they not constantly mismanaged funds though the entire decade prior, sold there shit to the retarded Altus and combined forces to make the worst game in the history of gaming.. Interplay had to let go of Back Isle because they did not even have funds to pay salaries anymore. They have been dead forever in all but name. That Black Isle team though is mostly split between Obsidian and InExile that both have made really great isometric RPGs of late.
They should add in toothpaste, and if you brush your teeth you get a trait called "minty fresh" and for like the rest of the day you have increased charisma
What I have noticed and what I appreciate about Bethesda's communication, is that they speak about 'plans' and 'ideas' rather than 'this is going to happen for *sure*'. We saw this happen with, for instance, No Man's Sky. A lot of promises that could not be upheld. It is clear that Fallout 76 is a game with a risk, and the developers know that, but still they are going to try it. And they at least look proud about what they have produced, so I will be looking forward what Fallout 76 will be. And if it fails, well, then they know that, but at least they tried!
I'm really worried for this game. If it's like 30 people on a server with no NPC's and the map is 4 times the size of Fallout 4. It's gonna feel insanely empty besides the enemies. It will feel less and less like a RPG and more like a generic shooter in a amazing looking Fallout world. I love Fallout and i can understand people who love this type of game but it''s probably a pass for me. I love the small story's in these games and the dialogue''s choices, factions etc, to me that's the heart of Fallout. Without it, it's def missing something big. Which is a shame because this world looks so interesting and cool, as does the idea of being one of the first in this new world.
Random FaceOnTheIntenet shove people have social issue and either don't know how, or don't want to interact with others. Also In my friends group I'm the only nerd gamer, and I don't feel like making friends with a bunch of racist 12 year olds.
I agree entirely. They set the stage for living, breathing ecosystems and then left out the human survivors? On one of the few places in the US that wasn't nuked into oblivion in this game's established lore? Hello? Boy, i can't wait for "radiant" quests from the Overseer/robots and endless crafting. Skipping this hardcore.
AtheistZapp Noclip is doing it from a perspective of not wanting to alienate the companies so they have to assume a position that helps the companies to give a favorable impression of them...
@AtheistZapp There's little difference between praising a game yourself and showing only voices that praise it. The difference between this vid and all the others is that this is no postmortem. That raises the question: What's the difference between an interview reel published according to a pr marketing campaign and an advertisement?
@@TF_Tony This video was published in June, I'm sure the filming took place long before that. What were you expecting Danny to do? Know the issues and complaints from the final release in June and grill Todd Howard about it? I don't like the idea of 76 and I haven't purchased it and I don't plan to, but some of you guys need to chill out.
@@somethingdifferent9024 I was expecting him not to do the 'documentary' in the first place, since it does by its very nature not qualify as anything but an advertisement. Even if Fallout 76 was the best game ever made, doing this video was still the wrong decision to make in my opinion. It's contentious, but that's what discussion is for. You might also argue that you consider interviews with the developers overseen by the devs' pr guys and published without voicing any caveats a legitimate documentary, but I disagree. A documentary, in my eyes, would have been to interview these people, then release them and also say: All of what was just said was voiced in accordance with the advertising campaign and can therefore by its very nature not hold any information that is not released to sell the game. But that would be a useless video. He could also have followed them around during development and released his insights after release (which I doubt Bethesda would have allowed), or he could have interviewed them after release and talked to them about all of the goings-on during development (which considering the feedback I also doubt Bethesda would allow).
@@TF_Tony but that's a very narrow view of what a documentary should be, you're complaining that it isn't the type of documentary you would make, rather than it isn't a documentary. I saw a documentary about how cars are made the other day, I'm sure the footage was checked to make sure the people didn't bad mouth the car company, does that mean it wasn't a documentary about how the cars are made lol? Why would it be appropriate for the maker of that documentary to voice his opinion. I think you need to learn the fine line between Documentary and Journalism.
Atomic Wolf its still a teabag simulator fallout edition. Nobody who loved fallout for FALLOUT wants this. Thats not to tell u not to enjoy it. Go nuts. But they shit in the hand that fed them. Some ppl r gunna b a tad critical.
Benjamen Schimpf Understandable, but I wasn’t referring to everyone who found distaste in this title. I have a lot of people come to me moaning about subjects already answered - aka they didn’t watch this or read articles. That’s who I was talking about.
Atomic Wolf my problem isnt with you. I just want ppl to wake up. The industry has turned 2 shit cuz ppl just follow blindly and obey. And then pre-order it. If i gotta piss somebody off to get them to ask questions then i did my part.
Benjamen Schimpf Yeah it’s pretty sad to see those who would just toss their cash for something they don’t know about yet. But it happens. And the industry loves that. Though Change may only happen if the franchise’s fanbase is strong enough to reach the devs (like this one). Not many can say the same.
Gewdvibes u kidding me? This game will be a snoozefest in a couple days. Ill still have my $60 tho. If thats butthurt then yep. Thats me. Enjoy ur super unrepetitive not boring game. Gunna b a riot.
Watching that after release is interesting. We can clearly see how passionate they are with their products, it's just a shame some decisions were badly took (no human npcs is a big one) and someone there is pushing the games faster than they should. This game needed an extra year of development and more care on the lore. I'm trying to look things differently, and the good news is that as this game seems empty and boring, the team responsible for quests, npcs and such must be working hard on the next games!
Have you played it recently? I was out of the country and away from video games when it came out. I didn’t pick up the game until this year, and I see how a lot of the things they talk about played out.

I hope you have some seriously high speed internet. Online-only games are awful.
J. C. That's not true. Destiny, ESO, FFARR all run really good for me and my internet is shit.

But with this, you'd know it's players fighting the Ghouls.

Yeah, this video helped clarify for me that I don't want the game. It was very helpful.
I'll probably watch some Autist go through all the areas and give me a detailed explanation (like a tv show), but not worth dropping money on.

I am convinced NoClip's crew has actually moved into the Bethesda studios, and are living on a diet of sweet rolls, Nuke Cola and Skyrim VR as exercise.
I don't mind though, the documentaries are great. Sacrifices were made.
I wouldn't mind subsiding off that Diet.
They had to fight for their sweetrolls because butch tried to take it

What I've gotten from this video, feel free to add on:
-Ghouls called the "Scorched" to replace raiders
-2 headed possums and irradiated hostile plants
-63 "things" (enemies?) And more?
-6 regions of the map with own flavor and difficulty
-Crashed space station
-Paper Maché masks (10)
-Public workshops to claim
-There is ore, lead, For example, can make bullets
"C.A.M.P has restrictions, "so you don't camp outside the vault and grief"
-Crafting system retained "and more"
-Eating and drinking is apparently a necessity like FO4 Survival Mode, you can "starve".
-Diseases
-"Mutations", no inverse rad health bar (I believe) the more rads you have the more likely you are to be "mutated": "Like 'Traits' from FO1+2 Where they have pluses and minuses" (Curable, along with ways to permanently get them for ones you really like). Mostly gameplay, some are visual.
-Weapon condition from FO3 is back so you're never "comfortable"
-Bartering between players (like trade)
-"Perk cards" with a limited amount and re-rolls, you can also share perk cards with your party allowing "specialists" in your group. Also in the end give you plus and minuses
-POSSIBILITY of setting up a robot vendor
-"Wanted" level for highly aggressive players
-24-32 people in the map (you can see where they are)
-Possible team deathmatch
-Cosmetic microtransactions (still able to earn through gameplay)
-Free updates "for years to come"
It sounds like the players actions has an effect on the ecosystem

The whole point was they wanted GUNFIRE to tell you there were human players. Yet, ghouls will have GUNS. As far as I know, the sound a gun makes doesn't change just because the person who pulled the trigger is full of radiation.
Also, the fact that PLAYERS ARE SHOWN ON THE MAP, makes the argument ridiculous as well. This is just their justification for not having any friendly groups/factions to interact with. This game will have no real quests. Just simplistic MMO style quests, even though it is just an -MO.

I've been super skeptical because this is something I've NEVER wanted, and to top it off I really really did not like 4. This has my interest piqued though. I may actually give it a try. I'm still going to wait for reviews and bugs to be worked out though.
Same feeling.

Atlas sounds like a great concept for a future Fallout villain.
Wonka Bars He already is, he's the one who makes the game crash xD
Wonka Bars you have to be close to him or you crash?

@@balloonfiesta15 Thats what I was thinking too!
@@balloonfiesta15 EFT did exactly that and it worked out really well
I kinda see the logic there. Like, if a Ghoul or Supermutant is shooting at you, you can tell it's not a Human and therefore not a person.
Glad they did this with a "spinoff" Hopeful they wont force multiplayer into Fallout 5.
Depends on how much $$$ The Fallout 76 cash shop generates probably.
They probably won’t since 76 was only born because they didn’t want to scrap the multiplayer mode from fallout 4. I imagine if the game does super well they might make more to go along with future main line titles but they would make it a separate game like this one just something to play once you finish the main title

frankly, i loved picking up objects in bethesda games, stacking them, storing them on shelves, it was pretty cool, still is.

So cool they trusted you with all this 👍🏻
Give everyone a choice;

Great Documentary into the insights of 76, also saw the patreon supporters, one of them being John Bain a.k.a Totalbiscuit, Rest in peace old friend.
Have Bethesda games ever been a focused experience though? They’ve always been chaos

The game isn't even out yet and look how open they're being about it. Why can't Valve be a fraction of this?
They also didn't get the greatest response from everyone after revealing this - Some people just can't handle having spin-off's thrown at them, meanwhile I"ve noticed around this time many game companies are doing spin-off's. Seem's they're all buying themselves time before coming out with their next big mainline's, but hopefully they're going to deliver something everyone will like.

I recall one of the interviews they did confirmed they'll be splitting the studio into two teams: one will handle large content updates(what those could end up being, we have no idea. Maybe another quest?), and one will handle smaller updates such as bugfixes and new armor and stuff.

You know back in the day when I heard about Fallout ONLINE I was sad that it was cancelled. It saddens me more that people do not want to open their mind to a concept. I'm personally excited about this, this isn't gonna be their last fallout game. Why not see what happens?
Roffinz People just like to complain.
People feel like Fallout is branching away from its roots with multiplayer and this is why many want private servers since they dont want to deal with online trolls and play the game somewhat single player
We saw what happened to GTA 5....

Sometimes when I see that mutated bat, I am reminded of Skyrim's Dragons.
They used the same AI and animations, looks like.

There's a fine line between documentary and advertisement. Please don't blur the two.
