im curious, not want to shit on you but I heard a lot of times people saying this. If you're a fan of the Fallout franchise, have you played Fallout 1,2, tactics?
I don't think that playing pre-Bethesda Fallouts is necessary to be a fan of Fallout. There are many Fallout games now and I don't think it's needed to like all of them to be a fan. For me, Fallout is one of my top favorite franchises because of F3, FNV and F4. I tried getting into F1 twice, but didn't make it far.
I think you need to watch a playthrough if you're a fan. Not to say that you're not a fan if you haven't done that, but you will enjoy the experience. A playthrough will let you get past any unfamiliar mechanics and get the story. Oxh0rn did a series on it recently.
Fallout Shelter was a fun game little game that I wasted a few hours on, it's really cool that we get to hear the behind the scenes story of its development. I can't wait for Elder Scrolls: Blades documentary, the game itself looks really interesting and I just know it will be a high quality documentary, as always.
I just want you guys to know - and I hope you read this before it gets buried in comments - you are a huge inspiration to me. Watching these documentaries gives me a goal to reach for the game dev studio I want to start. Keep it up!
@Srithor I don't have a studio yet. So I haven't even thought of promoting anything. I truly was just leaving a comment on the off chance that someone from noclip would see it and it would make their day. You sound angry about something else and like you are probably projecting. Or you're trolling. Either one sucks and I hope you find someone to talk to.
Oh come on, give them some credit They actually had to press keys, even if it were only ctrl c, ctrl v. Copy and pasting all day long can give you cramps.
@@danielospitia3277: It was probably also a little bit harder to find and copy, cause Bethesda did hire most of their people from Shelters original team :P
The production quality of these documentaries are impeccable. Thank you so much for allowing us common folk a glimpse inside the magic that is BGS and abroad.
Fallout Shelter truly is a great mobile game. I haven't played it for quite some time anymore, but back when I did, I was checking it multiple times a day. Expanding, upgrading and arranging my vault, collecting resources, doing quests, defending my vault, taking care of and making sure my dwellers were all equipped with the best equipment I could get my hands on. And an even greater thing about it all, was that I spent basically no money doing all of this! Many other mobile games, would have been gouging money right out of my hide, every turn of the way, but not Fallout Shelter. I used real money on it TWICE, during the year that I spent playing, and at no point, did it feel like I was being unfairly held back due my unwillingness to shovel real world money into the game. Even the couple times I did, were during the very last month, that I played the game, and even then, it was simply because I wanted to to try my luck with the lunchboxes and the other time, I wanted to see if I could get some helpful pets for the dwellers. Both with mixed success, Both of those, however, are completely optional, and done without sacrificing the core gameplay or cutting significant content from the game. I can imagine some people would be tempted to use real world money to buy Nuka Cola Quantum, that is used to speed up the quests, training, weapon and armor crafting and so on, but you really don't have to. You can find plenty of Nuka Cola Quantum from quests and, as long as you don't waste it on every little thing, you'll have stockpiles of it. There are wait times in the game, sure, as every mobile game does these days, but in Fallout Shelter, there's usually something else you can be doing, while you wait. Be it simply expanding or upgrading your vault, training your dwellers or defending your vault from raiders or mutant creatures. Also, as a person, who has a stable, 7 - 8 hour work day, five days a week, I can say that the wait times in Fallout Shelter, really worked well with my daily rhythm too. Making it so that these wait times usually finished, just when I woke up in the morning or got off of work. Overall, a very well balanced mobile game. Something that other mobile game creators should look and learn from. I can only hope that, if Bethesda does end up making another mobile game one, they'll do as fine work balancing that, as they did this.
There's also the sad story ocurred to behaviour Santiago (formerly Guanaco Games), the studio was shut down right after the release of Fallout Shelter, some members where offered to move to Canada an others had to see their dreams just gone, despite the huge success of the game.
Yeah, have to admit. i'm one of those people that played Shelter (on Switch) when I have never touched a Fallout game before. It got me at least a bit interested. But yeah, Shelter was a fun timewaster. Jumped to other "wasters" when I hit that paywall. But it was fun while it lasted. That completion tune is stuck in my head forever as if it's a Pavlov reaction.
I dont know if you read these comments, but I got to say, your channel is one of the best (if not the best) gaming channels in UA-cam. The production quality is just unbelievably amazing, and I hope you keep making these. Great job NoClip!
Not a big fan of mobile games. However I do like playing Fallout Shelter. It's a very well made app. It's stable, no ads, payment system is totally optional (good deals too), the game is fun... I had no idea it was so big. Great job.
I'd love to see a documentary on them making their VR games. So many people complain that VR versions should be free and don't realize the amount of work it takes to make a game VR compatible.
I get the impression that dropping this doc now means Blades is just around the corner. Like this doc was meant to wet the appetite for the Blades release.
It is ironic for me. I got the platinum, deleted the game, and was ready to move forward to the next thing. "Coincidental" would also work.
It's really great to learn about the work and history behind some of the most exciting and fun moments of my life. That E3 conference was so fucking hype! And, this story was so interesting to learn about.
This has to be one of my favourite documentaries from u, maybe bcuz I've been a fallout fan since 3 and spent all my 7th grade summers exploring the capital wasteland.
when i discovered that the game was on pc i downloaded it, i don't have a smart phone but i play shelter on my pc just fine and yes i am almost done training and leveling all my dwellers
And to this day, this is still the best Fallout game Bethesda ever made... They should really stick to editor duty. Of course, yet another fantastic doc. Congrats to you Noclip, you never ceaze to amaze me!
With the games they announced (FO76, Starfield, TES6,), I doubt it. It's merely an expansion of their work as a publisher, since Shelter wasn't even developed by Bethesda Game Studios. I think it's actually positive for their AAA-titles, since the profits from the mobile games can be used for development Budget for the big ones.
The focus on single player games won't stop being a thing. They've expanded to two "external" Bethesda studios - one does mobile things and the other one does multiplayer things. The focus of the home studio is still single player.
As always this is interesting, amazing quality, and wonderfully told. Disappointed that it didn't have Westworld included and how "perfect" the story all is... Almost feels like marketing rather than documenting.
I really need to watch more of your content, it is done so well. I've been a Patron since Day 1 because I believe in what you're doing, but I've only ever watched the Bethesda and Fallout docs as many of the other games don't really interest me, but, the storytelling is just so good, I need to start digging in more. Great documentary!
I remember downloading Fallout Shelter on launch day and playing it for 8 hours straight, then never picking it up again. I might give it another try now, though!
Unexpected, delightful, and interesting! Thanks guys, thanks Danny! Once I move on from my current life circumstances I will upping that contribuition to help your 2.0 vision. Early next year! :)
Fantastic job on this video. As a day 1 Overseer & live streamer of Fallout Shelter, my Vault 45 has continually run for 1,213 IRL days on my iPad. Also playing up to 9 vaults at once across multi-Platforms, I still love the game. Great idea, execution on gameplay & additions to game. It also got me through some tough times where I went from being disabled to Twitch Parter over the span of several years. I list it as one of my favorite games of all time. 👏❤️🤙
Ooohh, you guys are still working with Bethesda on a Blades documentary?? If you've still been working with them this whole time, I hope there's another documentary behind 76 in the works. It would be really interesting to hear their stories as they were the pioneers of mobile games before iPhone and hit it really big when the app store arrived. Supercell who has been able to keep high level of success would be especially interesting.
