  • Loudoun Theme Park opened in 1995 with the slogan “Scotland’s Best Family Theme Park”. Originally established by a London based company the park later became owned by Henk Bembom’s Parkware Limited in 2002. Henk Bembom invested over 9 Million Euros from 2002 through 2007 alone and brought new rides and attractions to the park each year. In late 2010, it was announced that the park would close due to economic causalities. Several of the former rides were sold off and for sale continuing into 2011. The theme park is located just behind the remains of Loudoun Castle built in 1807 and the interior was destroyed in 1941.Loudoun Theme Park had its bit of tragedy like many other amusement parks around the world when an 18 year old ride operator, Mark Blackwood, died after falling 80 feet from a roller coaster track in 2007. The ride had gotten stuck on the coaster ‘The Rat’ and the ride operator was pushing the coaster free when it then launched forward with him clinging to the back of the ride. A woman was sitting on the ride with two relatives and saw Mark Blackwood hanging on to the ride as it proceeded upwards, when it reached the top of the incline, he fell. Loudoun Castle Theme Park was found not guilty of a health and safety violation.

Black Pearl and Powder Kegs are now at my local park Lightwater Valley. They're great rides!
