If someone "innovates" just a little over what is overall trending... it will be recognized by a larger audience.... If someone innovates a lot over an specific niche, larger audience will not catch what is going on... just a few will appreciate the innovation...
Geniality is not always understood by larger audiences... and those who grab larger audience appeal doesn't tend to be extreme innovators .... it tends to be people who complement and respond to the dominant trends in the large audience market....
Example, Andy Mcknee(?) "Drifting" got zillions of views in the large audience map ... the clones merged ... and because, it requires "discipline and high skills" to perform like that, It becomes a "tiny "niche thing ....
On the other hand, T-pain auto-tune thing can be done by everybody... and that's what becomes The Trend for larger audience....
Fame is not about innovation.... Fame is about fitting collective stupidity

    Hi Tory,
What you're doing is absolutely incredible!
I discovered your channel recently and I'm in awe of your technique and musicality, which I could never achieve as it takes two brains to do what you do. I think it takes a few years of piano practice too.
You string together quite complex melodic lines with chords on completely independent rhythms with lots of chord changes and in 2-hand tapping you never look at your left hand and in total relaxation.
What's more, I've watched many of your videos and you excel in many styles and techniques.
Perhaps you'd be kind enough to do some tutorials on your 2-hand technique.
Bravo Tory for your work, you're a great musician!

    Appreciate the new lighting Tory.😂
Musically but...In many ways you remind me of Adam Rafferty who gave up Jazz to Fingerstyle he has jumped up with on stage Tommy Emmanuel.
You can shred Jazz with a pick next level but decided to go your own way...slightly away from the "Jazz College and NY Jazz style" and forge your own path and it is next level.
You kinda go Mancuso level but with two handed poly rhythms.
it's amazing...but and it Sounds Great.
I hear weird little bits of Wes Joe Barney...while you're playing your own Chart!
But I'm not a Jazz trained dude...just GIT harmony theory...got 100, so I can work out what you say.
I can get my head around when you break down theory 2nd Doms Tri tone subs...playing it?
Ive got a few things from you thanks.

She’s wasn’t afraid technique ( hammer ons and tapping, right hand only) because she’s blessed with music talent. She endured and adapted technique, because talented people practice but learn quick. It feels natural, even when it’s tough, and less awkward to them. I know this from guys I used to give lessons too. Beginners, one guy I showed basic minor and major scales (guys would ask,I rarely gave lessons) The same guy came back six months later maybe less. Wait Mistake, i seen him at friends house (bass player) lived other side tracks. (not much of bass player) but they were actually jamming playin yngwie type stuff. This was back 1985. The guy I gave lesson too, (Brian)took the guitar like fish does too water. Quick. They even played Ronnie James did ‘holy diver’ without vocal. But he nailed the guitar solo. (1985 it was impressive) Brian had a way of simplifying parts that his bass player could handle. When Brian got married (I was out of town) my brother went to wedding said Brian recorded his own songs instrumentals for his wedding. My brother said it was fucking beautiful. We used to play tony macalpine songs from maximum security satriani shit. I played rhythm mostly, dual harmonies back in 1988 crust

It doesn't explain it at all. Just because the whole tone scale fits the modulations, given that it simply adds 3 notes equally spaced between the key centers to connect them, doesn't mean he built the tune from the whole tone scale. Maybe he started simply with the idea to create a tune that modulates in thirds instead of fourths or fifths, and wasn't thinking about the whole tone scale at all.

    • @johnmcminn9455

Hey Tory, I love your style and all your videos :)
Do you use pull-offs with your right hand or are these all hammer-ons?

i love that dress....were Leonardo alive today he'd do nothing but paint you....but i do think he would ask you to look up occasionally and smile....as he did the Mona Lisa.

When you say “play the digital patterns” do you mean arpeggiate each chord tone in the changes?

    • @TorySlusher
      @TorySlusher  Рік тому +2

No, it's what I've heard someone say before, a professor, it's just like a four note pattern that you superimpose over the chords and just move it around. Sometimes it's like 1 2 3 5, etc. Different variations, but all of them are in groups of four

Do you have any recommendations of resources we could use to get near your level? I think lessons with you would be amazing but I’m nowhere near this lol

    • @TorySlusher

Honestly, it's just a lot of practice and critical thinking... I don't think there's any magic bullet

Have you considered playing the Harpejji? Your playing technique is exactly like that instrument, but you would have a little more freedom

    • @TorySlusher

I've seen them, if someone gave me one I probably would do stuff with it but I'm in no rush to throw away my years of guitar study for a new instrument

Yoda is like the lord of all Jedi, so yes. A highly evolved player of guitar.. you are.
Clamping down on jazzy chords blindly with the left hand while doing with the right hand what both hands would normally do, so cool.

Brilliant Talent. May I ask, what gear attachment I need to my electric guitar to make it more sensitive to tap. I see you have an attached pick-up? Is that correct? I really appreciate any help you can provide.

    • @TorySlusher
      @TorySlusher  Рік тому

I don't really know that there is anything that makes it easier, you just have to basically start with a guitar that has a very easy speaking voice for tapping.... It could be anything, you just have to try a bunch, then find a pickup that suits you. For me, the tele single coils just work. Then you spend a lot of time setting it up. But of course at the end of the day, whether or not it works will be depending on your fingers
