Your long-form videos are the best ear training lessons for guitarists that I’ve found. My student’s ability to hear the subtlety between related diminished scales and intervals in general after spending time with your channel have been greatly improved. And so is mine!
You are so very good. Thank you for sharing all the great playing, artistry and information/wisdom. Other than with your own band or solo I'd love to hear you playing with someone like Joscho Stephan. Hope all's going well.
Amazing how you have a channel with only 10 total videos, yet they’re so densely packed with great information, I’m quite confident I can completely learn jazz guitar from it
Dude went back again. The description on the major 7th is so helpful. Chasing where the bb7 becomes a major 7 through each voicing is SO helpful! Anyone can hear it and play it but when you really learn whatever happening you can transpose it!
Your „Purple Haze“ Solo is the best Guitarsolo I have ever heard. It took me to another level of consciousness. Thank you for this incredible huge inspiration. All the best for you and greetings from Germany.
I swear the universe truly does listen if you “will it.” Early this week I’ve been wanting to learn more about the diminished scale and apply it into my playing. You’re a legend Robbie. Thank you.
Googles using the microphone on your device to track things you say and use it to improve suggestions. I've tested this for a number of months, with permissions granted and not granted, and no matter what I do, things I say appear in my suggestions.
@@skobywankenobi I agree with you. It’s not the first time that’s happened. I often think out-loud (euphemism for talking to myself), and I recall saying that out loud
I literally just started working on diminished licks to move between chords in a 12 bar blues and then you post this. *You're a legend* from one of your happy patreon subscribers.
I've been meaning to really dig into this scale, it has such an interesting sound. Thanks so much for this! Your channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites
Robbie....I mean, how do you come up with this stuff?! Someone else wrote that their brain hurts, and I agree, but we are just trying to keep up with your thought processes. You think these concepts through, explain things so well, and then your demonstrations are completely inspiring. Thank you for the incredible content and information, helping me to understand something I've never really got down. Best to you in 2023!
the amount of musical knowledge and theory you packed into this lesson has left me staggering.....i hope i will recover and be able to use SOME of it.....
Jeez Robie how are you this good lol. Man Im always excited when i see an alert for your videos because i know its going to teach me something unique and challenging. Thanks for being a great teacher as well as a great player
This lesson is absolutely fantastic! Lots of content explained in a useful and precise way. I'll probably be rewatching this for months until I soak it all in.
‼️WOW‼️Way over my head. I understand and assimilate all concepts conveyed. Your edit continuity reveals a thoughtful, planned presentation. Concise spoken terminology captures attention. My skills will develop and advance swiftly through your method. Thank You 🙏🏼 🤙🏼🔐🔓🎸🎼
Hi Robbie ...you are by a long shot the best teacher on the net...your Barry Harris is friggin amazing ...I've always struggled with these and im surprised that you don't call them tonic w/h or dominant h/w ....this term from another teacher made it easy for me...anyway you are the best...
I was beginning to worry you’d put aside your youtube channel. Great to see another excellent video from you. Always hits the right mix of theory and application without shying away from assuming foundational theoretical knowledge. Rick Beato has been neglecting in this kind of stuff recently… really appreciate you picking it up and always with the highest production standards. Awesome work.
I thought I already left this comment, but this is at least 3-4 weeks of study material. I think you're one of the top pages I've found. Thank you so much.
holy crap!!!!!!!!! this is very, very enlightening..... thank you Robbie!!!!!!!!! this explanation has helped me fashion very cool and harmonic shell chords ( I play bass ) and has added to my bag of sonic harmony tricks..... although this is no trick...... it works....I never appreciated the DNA of a diminished scale..... until I watched this video..... Holy crap.... one of the best videos I've seen in a while..... your playing is stellar by the way....
Ya I always struggled decending and you are the first person to address this and how to navigate ...the major voicing is really cool ...just bumped up everybody's playing instantly ...cheers
Killer! Well here we go, another video of Robbie that blows my mind. Seriously, one video of yours every three month is absolutely enough for me to deal with, as it is a pressure refueling input, that needs a lot of time to deal with and to integrate it into your practice. Thanks for sharing! Love it! Gotta go now, need to practice. Cheers DimiZ
Still in recovery from the Barry Harris video :) It will take ages to digest, retain and finally actually use this stuff (No genius here) Sounds great Well done - thanks a million!
Simply wonderful... Clear, specific, powerful, useful and enlightening over a very difficult jazz concept for a rock musician... At least to me... Thanx a lot from México City...!
I get the feeling (partially enhanced by those lights framing the TV with the diabolical picture) of watching Paganini -- who was thought of as having made a deal with the Devil -- explain intricacies of guitar harmonies. Your mastery is evident. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Hey Robbie, I just wanted to say you’ve changed my life with the content you put out! I’ve taken to learning these concepts through and through on guitar and piano, It’s a lot of regular practice, but it’s some of the most liberating creative work I’ve done! And I’m confident in my playing to start jamming and improvising with new friends :) Thanks for helping me find a musical confidence and community I’ll drop you something on patroon when I can afford jt
Thanks for your lovely comment! It's really great to hear that my channel has helped with your improvising and ability to play music with others. That is exactly what I wanted to achieve and hearing this certainly inspires me to share lots more concepts with you all!
I am intrigued by the diminished tonality and its function. It has always pulled my ear in when i hear it. Long before i knew what it was. Very interseting tutorial. Ill never be able to play like yourself but its still useful info....thanks
Dude this is probably the best video I’ve seen on diminishing and scales this is really jazzy! Your an amazing musician! Send a link to your cash app or pay pal I would love to support and make a donation 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Thanks that's really kind, glad you enjoyed it! I have a virtual (PayPal) tip jar on my channel's 'About' page, or if you prefer, here's my Patreon where you can also get all the on going material for this video: www.patreon.com/robbiebarnby
Hey Robbie, I'm happy to see your channel growing fast. Your content is in my top list for what concerns jazz education and the reason for that is you can actually play
Thanks for thisis great content ! There is a year worth of i studying in here...I have been coming back to this on a monthly basis and only now do I understand all of the theory it imies and Sometimes I just love to hear and intellectualize how the intervals chaange symmetrically in relation to each other. giving unique voicings and harmonic possibilities. ImYou could apply this scale to giant steps andghet some pretty outside sounding voicings. Great job
Thanks for checking out the video! Detailed PDFs for this one are on my Patreon (with lots more to come) ► www.patreon.com/robbiebarnby

You're very welcome! Thanks for the kind words
One year? That's 40 years of finger numbing repetition into 40 minutes Mr. Taltool
