Check out my Fender Blues Deluxe Review Video here: • Is the Fender Blues De...
Verdict - The Hohner Blues Band is a great budget harmonica in my opinion. Decent responsiveness, just a little sluggish on -2 and -3. Slightly quieter, thinner, darker tone compared to the Fender Blues Deluxe, which makes the Bluesband my second favorite budget harmonica. This harmonica is definitely suitable for learning beginning harmonica techniques, so if you’re a total beginner on a tight budget, look no further! Also, if you are in close quarters and want to be able to practice quietly, you’ll love this harmonica.

Thanks for your honesty and one of the greatest harmonica teacher here on UA-cam I am really your biggest fan and always inspires me all your videos!
Wow, thank you! Means the world to me. THANK YOU! 👊🏼
Very helpful review. Thanks for putting it together.
My pleasure Gordon. Aloha.
I used the Bluesband when I started learning, then moved to a Special 20, and now I use a full set of Lee Oscar's.
Hey! Very good! I play Lee Oskars myself!
I'm gonna move to band of the marine. love the old school look and don't really like plastic comb sound.
Thanks for the info. Enjoyed watching
Glad it was helpful!
My first harmonica BluesBand then Crossover, that was like a step from ground to heaven.
Lol. SERIOUSLY!!!!
Im getting the 3 pack. Its on the way. Haven't played in a long time and im not that good. Thanks for the nice review, enjoyed it!
Have fun!
I got 2 of these I love these sounds great
Sweet.
I've got around 40 some harps, and I have an old Bluesband, that I picked up at Cracker Barrel, because, well, why not, and I have to say that after quite a few years it is still a pretty decent little harp. Is it in the league of my Marine Bands or Bushman's or Golden Melodys or Suzuki Bluesmasters and Manjis, the Seydels or the Kongshengs or even the 3 Big Rivers? No, but I am constantly amazed at how good it sounds and I bought this one back when they were like 5 bucks at Cracker Barrel, which is why now and then it gets to come out of the case that holds "the others" more often than some of the rest who dwell there. I know not all of them are like this one, (I've played others) but I just wanted to give a little love to my ONE little Bluesband that seems to stand out among it's brothers and sisters.
LOL. Wow you've got a lot of harps! Yeah, you can't beat the price!
@@Harmonicacom not compared to some people (as I am sure you know) but I have to fight the battle against getting more all of the time, and try to justify the purchase.
I know exactly what you’re saying, every Harmonica, and Guitar for that matter, is different, you can have two Marine bands in C and one might be sweeter or easier to play or bend better or whatever the case may be
That’s why sometimes you have to be careful when buying a harmonica and judging that whole model line off of the one you bought , of course if it really stands out to you that it’s not a winner then you might be justified in thinking so, but if you see potential in that harmonica , maybe get another one of the same model and see if it’s any better or not
Can you please review the Harmo Polar harmonicas? I would love to hear what you think. They are so cool looking!
Hey Charles - wow they do look cool! I've added it to my list, but you'll have to be patient with me, because the list is long, lol.
Can you make a video or tell me what the Pocket Pal Honher harmonica is like?❤

Damn. I thought it is me doing something wrong on -2 and -3 lol.
I have problems with regular -2 and -3 even without bending with this harmonica.
If you're looking for a cheap harp with better -2 -3 check out the Fender Blues Deluxe. www.harmonica.com/store/fender-blues-deluxe-harmonica/
Appreciate the fyi.. upgrade to fbd now..
Blessings y'all
Woop woop! Hope you love it! Blessings right back atcha.
Is there a big difference between the harmonica blues harp and the blues band?? I like the blues harp over the marine band I think. Def very amateur player. Can’t bend. But I like the tone of the blues for folk acoustic
I bought the Hohner Blues Band, but was having trouble learning to bend, so I went out and bought a Lee Oskar (on Luke's recommendation), which is way easier to learn bending on, but now that I can bend, I kinda prefer the darker tone of the Hohner. The Lee Oskar sounds a bit to bright - almost "tinny" - for my taste, though I'm sure it is great for comping or soloing with a mic.
True but for learning it's better to have the higher quality harmonica lee oskar first. Marine Band is good if you want darker high end one.
@@kishascape You're right, of course. I also bought a Hohner Special 20, and even though it's a plastic combed harmonica, the quality is leagues better than the Blues Band. Lee Oskar is still the easiest to bend IMHO.
I saw another video berating the bluesband, I have a 10$ Chinese swan harmonica I am thinking of upgrading, would a bluesband be worth it? (I am interested in harmonica playing and seeking to go further)
I'd recommend shelling out a couple extra bucks for the Fender Blues Deluxe if you think you're gonna want to get into bending. Here's my article on brands: www.harmonica.com/which-harmonica-to-buy/
so more interesting to know what is the matter of good bending ( exept skill of playing) as I understand it depends on material and thickness of reeds. The reeds of Hohner harmonicas might the same as well but thickness and embossing are the difference. Am I right or not?
I'm not too sure about all the physical details of what improves bendability
Sir, do you know hohner ozzy osbourne's signatured harmonica what do you think about it ? Special 20 or ozzy's ? Are they similar
Isn't anything with Ozzy's signature better? :) On the site they are compared to Special 20's and Hohner Rcoket's both of which are exceptional harps, so if you love Ozzy and you can afford it, I'd say GO FOR IT! (I haven't played one personally, but have put it on my to do list down the road...)
Hello My friend, I'm about to get my first harmonica, so would you Say that the fender blues deluxe is better thane this one?
Definitely!
My first harp was a Easttop but they're a bit to heavy i like the Hohner Sp20 thks u Luke for this video
Right on. Yeah, the East tops aren't too bad. Special 20's are great!!!
My first harmonica was the bluesband. But blew the 3rd draw reed in 3 months😎
Interesting. How often were you playing?
East Top is the best budget harmonica.
I agree East Top's are good. I think the Fender Blues Deluxe is better bang for the buck personally, but it's all about personal tastes.
I LOVE my Easttop T008 series harps. Most are the T008L model that comes with painted white covers and a clear or white acrylic comb. However, I swapped out all the painted covers with Hohner's MS Series Blues Harp covers. Better feel in mouth and hands, super loud, easy to work on, overbend-friendly, special. Their other T0008K and T008S models are also very good. The thicker, electroplated reedplates are a plus. All these models are exceptionally airtight which adds to the reeds' response. They all have phosphor bronze reeds, another plus in the loudness department.
I’m noticing that I’ve had a harder time with 8,9,10. draws, bends, etc. with my bluesband.
Yeah if you're on a tight budget, the Fender Blues Deluxe is way more responsive and easier to bend than the Blues Band. (Of course if you can afford a Lee Oskar or Special 20 even better! But the Fender gets the job done.)
@@Harmonicacom thanks, I’ve got a Lee Oskar on its way, looking forward to it.
I want the one that has the holes furthest apart to make it easier to play
Hohner Rocket
Kool i got mine free from malrboro so its my first practice one , tryin to bend is hard im just starting to learn😮
I wouldn't start bending at the beginning. And I wouldn't use a Blues Band to learn bending.
is harmonica hohner silver star a good one ?
No sir.
Nice review, thanks. I was given a whole set. I think I'm going to use them for practice at home, to not bother the family, and lord forbid, the dog that howls along!!!. BTW I have a Fender Blues Deluxe in A that just doesn't cut it compared to a Bluesband in A. Maybe it was from a bad batch....but for that reason I havn't gone near another Fender.
Cool. Thanks for sharing! 👊🏼
Marlboro giving them away right now at midnight with their rewards program..
Right on!
4:52. My Marine Band is so old that it has a cardboard box. Still in decent shape too!
Wow! Must be REALLY old! They came in plastic boxes when I bout one 32 years ago!
@@Harmonicacom: I believe that I bought this one around 1971 and it has been stored most of the time which is why I still can’t play worth a hoot in hell.
I just bought it for like 10 t

Sim, o Golden Melody é incrível. Adoro eles!
Thanks! Key?
You bet! I've got the key of C here, and that's the key I recommend you get so that you can follow along with most beginner lessons.
I paid 400 for mine, exact same one
400 what? LOL
👍
Thanks Frank!
I'm getting one free from a cigarette rewards program. Guess I should've just got another zippo, 😂
So there are advantages to smoking. ;-)
ELA Ė MAIS AGUDA Q BLUES BAND
PREFIRO PARA ACORDES !?!
I'm sorry, I don't understand your question?
Suzuki Folk Master is a bit better
Personally I like the Fender Blues Deluxe more than the Suzuki Folkmaster.
Free with Marlboro rewards
Sweet. And harmonica is good for your lungs! 🙌
Ayeeee that’s why Iam here 😂😂😂 might just get the zippo and purchase this instead
The Hohner Blues Band should only be given to people you don't like. Or give it to the children of people you don't like. Hohner should be ashamed of this piece of junk. Don't waste your money. OK if it's given to you for free. Then you have a terrible instrument to compare other harps to. Or re-gift it as stated above. This junk is a toy, not a real instrument.
Lol! This is hilarious. Admittedly, it's not the best harmonica in the world, but it is definitely the cheapest one that one should buy imho. As I mention in the vid, the Fender Blues Deluxe is the winner for me in the budget harp category.
The Blues Band suck. Big time suck. Very leaky.
Get a Hohner Big River, which IS the best bang for the buck. Paul deLay played ’em, and he was one of the best.
Oof. Let's agree to disagree about the Big River! Best budget harp bang for the buck is Fender Blues Deluxe in my opinion.
