  • Step-by-step guide on how to remove / replace / upgrade factory radio on Jeep Compass SUV ( 2011 | 2012 | 2013 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | SPORT | NORTH EDITION | LIMITED | 4WD ).
    To remove the old factory stereo first you will have to pop out the dashboard plastic trim piece that is surrounding the radio. There is no screws holding it. It will just pop out so the best tool to use would be plastic trim remover. If you don't have it you can use a flat screwdriver just be careful not to do any damage to the dashboard.
    Once the trim piece is removed now you will have full access to four screws holding the radio in place. remove those screws and pull the radio out. Disconnect the radio antenna and electrical connectors. That's it.
    If you are replacing the factory radio with another factory radio from a different used vehicle, make sure to get the radio code. Without the radio code anti-theft will activate and you will not be able to use it.
    If replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket radio you will have to get proper wiring harness made for jeep compass and your specific brand of radio. Also you will need Jeep Compass radio kit which will work with your new aftermarket stereo.
    Thanks for watching.

    If we put an aftermarket radio in, will it mess with the anti theft system? Which part of the anti theft does it affect, the passive immobilizer or the alarm system?

      Hi, radio replacement shouldn't mess with the vehicle's anti theft. Your OEM radio probably has its own anti theft system and if you install it again in the future it might ask you for a radio code, but other than that you should be fine

      @@QuiteAlright oh perfect. I didn't think about the anti theft being for the radio itself until talking about it later with my gf. Unfortunately she didn't get the owner manual with her jeep so we don't have the code for it

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  Рік тому

      @@Daniel-dk8rp You can get the code if you give the vehicle serial number and radio serial number to Jeep dealership. They usually charge around $50 to retrieve the code

      @@QuiteAlright oh that's good to know. I would like to post it online in case someone else can use it instead of just discarding it. Thank you

    Do I have to disconnect the battery?

    • @QuiteAlright

      It is always recommended to disconnect the battery before removing the radio. Most likely nothing will happen if you don't, but if you want to be 100% safe do it

      Should always disconnect the battery as a precaution
