Hey Scottie...I bought my son a 2011 Toyota Camry LE (4-cylinder). It currently has 134k miles. These cars are extremely easy to work on. I started teaching my sons how to change their oil, coolant, alternator and brakes. Parts are available and relatively inexpensive. Great starter car!

The reason I refuse to buy a new Camry is several people I know have had problems. Today’s cars have too much technology and when one thing goes it’s like chain reaction!
Yup in my opinion 90s cars was the last great cars just me though 2000s were decent but too much technology after tech was being forced down our throats in 09 made these manufacturers get these insane ideas
Earl Scheib was on my corner in Brooklyn NY when I was a kid. We use to raid their dumpster and get paint to paint our bases to play stickball. Every year or so the the price would go up. Then $39.95 then $49.95. Good times
As soon as I was aware of Toyota discontinuing the v6 in the Camrys I bought a 2024 TRD wind chill pearl white. Couldn’t be any more happy with my purchase. At the one dealer close to me he has gotten 2 of them and they were sold in 1 week. Seems like people really want them for the nice ride and the 3.5L engine. Luckily my salesman located one out of palm beach FL.
I don't sub to anyone over 1 million subs, but you sir teach me something every video and that deserves a sub! Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge.
@legendmaster1989 yeah that's good miles are just out to scare people toyota if you maintain thrm properly no problems if then used toyota engines don't cost that much
Got the new XSE, they’re all hybrids but the handling, comfort, and quietness from the laminated glass.. love it so far. Gets 47 MPG and no need to charge the hybrid battery!
I disagree. I just sold my 2020Taco for a Lexus NX350h. I love Toyota Hybrid. Smooth acceleration, not very noisy engine ( a little), and very dependable. It’s not slow, not gonna win any races. 0-60 in 7 seconds.
tell that to the fools in my state that love v8s and that need to drive 15mph to save gas. 4L for life. especially when it comes to the gas pump. usually after 2wk i fill at 20 dollars. when others are 30 to more. in n out in moments lol
I had one, the steering rack went bad at 370k otherwise would probably have gotten rid of it anyway, every 100k you gotta do the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, and coolant flush.. which was about 1200.00 to have done..
Had a 2000 Camry with 298k. Sold it in 2019. Ran excellent. Never a problem. Changed the timing belt twice along with the 7 gaskets and water pump. Wish I never have sold it. 😢 The young people I sold it to beat it and blew the motor 3 weeks later.😢
I've always had Camry's, Corrola's or civics. My last car, I had a 2015 Lexus GS350 F Sport, silver with red interior. Some jerk crashed into it while it was parked in front of my apartment. I was planning on keeping that car until 300k, I loved that car. The new cars just seem like headaches. I'm looking to replace it with the same model and colors once Insurance pays out.
My 2011 Camry, no oil leaks or burning at 97,000 miles. Purchased used in 2015. No paint issues but it is garaged EVERY day. Had AC compressor replaced 6 (?) years ago, otherwise zero problems.
2 Toyota Matrix's here, 07 and an 06...both over 250k miles on them and run like a top!! I'm keeping them till they get to 299,999...and until they fall apart!! Get me where i have to go everyday...no issues at all besides normal maintenance!!
I bought a new 2024 Camry (gas only model) and I didn’t even need a car. I will keep it in the garage until I need a car. I start it and drive it around the property once a month to keep everything lubed and to keep seals from drying out.
I bought my RAV4 because it had cruise control I use it on long runs my wife who probably drives it more than I do doesn’t even know what, how, where the controls are and how to use them, once you get used to cruise control I personally couldn’t see me ever getting a car without it 😊
@@subaruamazon the Camry I wanted was also a 2004 with only 100k miles, but it got out from under me. I got the lesabre for under 2k. It’s nothing fancy, but there’s nothing wrong with it.
@@mjobermeyer09 those lesabres with the six's are supposed to be bulletproof. i bought mine in 18. it was between an accord and camry. camry came up. it is very competitive to buy these cars used. there was a couple looking at mine and two coming in the morning so i bought it. next time, you have to have cash ready and be ready to pounce.
I have the same problem with my charcoal colored 2003 Acura CL Type S. I bought it brand new in September, 2002. The paint has peeled on the top sections of the vehicle; however along the sides of the vehicle, its fine.
Really? Are you over that now? I had all my wisdom teeth taken out in the Navy at the naval hospital where I was stationed. Four hours of surgery under general anesthesia. Was I sick.
1995 Toyota Tercel. Manual Steering Manual transmission Manual windows Made in Japan JT Toyota. 456.000 miles Original 5EF-FE 1.5 DOHC 16 Valve non VVTI and Original Transmission one clutch. Toyota was the best in 1980's and 1990's when they were made in Japan and had NO computers and electronics but unfortunately modern society is too stupid to know that.
This generation Camry the quality went down. Toyota had the problem unattended acceleration and they used allot of hard plastics on the dash. The 2002-2006 Generation was better
I disagree, my late father had a 2010 Toyota Camry, 2.4, it was a brilliant car, and the dash had no problems at all. The pickup was very good & it would burn rubber if you slightly pushed the accelerator hard.
@@kaohsiung99 bought in 18 with 106k. i drive three days a week in brooklyn and si. changed water pump, fuel pump, lower control arms, front bearings. more repair than i though but it has a rough life sometimes. engine and tranny good. i change oil every 4k.
I bought my Toyota Camry 2011 SE V6 new and now 180,000 miles and still strong and smooth. I replaced radiator, alternator, belt, belt tensioner, transmission fluid (drain & fluid every 15,000 miles), transmission pan, brake fluid, steering fluid, 6 sparks, 6 injectors, 6 ignition coils, fuel pump. They still working but old age, that's why I replaced them. I CHANGE OIL EVERY 3,000 MILE.
Way too much it’s a Camry dude not a v8 😂 the oil not even broken down at 3k mileage so you’re just wasting money , if this was a hemi sure but it’s a v6 economy model….
"It's more important to check the oil in an old car than a new car". That's only partially true. If you own a brand new kia, hyundai, Ford, stellantis, chevy, mini, vw, BMW (am I missing any?) You better check the oil every week. A lot of those cars burn oil long before 50k miles
@zabryant01 I bought my 2013 mini countryman all4 with 25k miles. At 40k miles I was draining less than 5 quarts out at a 5k oil change. So who is being ridiculous? It's at 90k now and I burn 1-2 quarts per 2-3k miles. It's not consistent. Sadly I usually only drive 4 miles to/from per day. I don't get to do many long trips so that is hard on the car
@zabryant01 hyundai and the other brands are just as bad and some worse. I did list mini. It's there. Just cuz you happen to get a hyundai that's not burning oil... yet. Many others are not so lucky. Every once in a while a car made by a bad car company has little to no problems. As well as every once in a while a toyota made in Japan is crap
@@engineer2001 yeah! I’m upgrading from a 2003 V6 Accord and I feel the power of the 2.5L 4cyl with the hybrid train is underrated. It’s an awesome car, looks cool, and is sporty when I need/want it to be. It’s obviously no sports car, but it’s not supposed to be.
FYI on the paint ... My 2010 Prius and 2008 Highlander have a TSB on the paint and will be repainted by Toyota for the same problems. Call Toyota to find out if that's covered.
You're not getting old. I got an older Camry with over 250000 miles on it and the only thing that's breaking down is the outer frame. If I hadn't ignored the rust on it, that thing would still look as pristine as the day it was bought.
I have a 2008 Acura TL base that I bought used with 66,000 miles after my brother totaled my 2013 RDX. I was honestly surprised at how similar the TL feels in terms of quality to my RDX. It runs great and is more fun to drive being a smaller and more nimble car.
I drove an almost new 2021 Camry hire car on holidays a few years ago. It was quiet, comfortable and had a smooth transmission. But the steering was as vague and heavy as driving a tank. Especially with the radar cruise control on. I would never buy any car that drove like that. Even a Toyota
Just finished renting a new Camry from Avis for the weekend. A little hard to get my old butt in and out. Car felt cheap and tinny. Decent enough if I was 30 years old again. I would buy something more substantial.
Toyotas are extremely reliable but you would be surprised the reliability you get out of a variety of brands if you stick to changing the oil religiously and not driving an economy car like a race car.
biggest issue I have heard is the phone connection issue. basically, you gotta manually go thru the radio menu and connect your phone each time you restart your car. i'd hope that is just a Toyota software fix but idk
we just bought a 1994 Camry with 200,000 miles that seems to be in good shape. Had some minor repairs like a window regulator. But the seller had a list of stuff he had done to it. The paint is chipped pretty bad and looks like they used white out to blot it in. But I'm hoping because it drives pretty well that it will last us a few years. Do you know of any particular problems with this year Scotty?
I have 2010 Camry LE 4 cylinder brought for 7k with 87K miles in 2015,. Now in November 2024, it have 249K miles, no problem at all.. Only things is bad that color is fading makes it look aged..
Corps. went to water-based paint by force. In the mid-1980's in order to reduce VOC emissions. This was to satisfy government regulations in most developed countries prohibiting oil-based paints in manufacturing.
@@RobertP-kk5ou Indeed! Only design flaw in mine is the valve stems got too hot & ate up all the valve seals. So she uses a little oil, maybe half qt to 1 qt between oil changes. Past 331,000 miles with only 1 rebuild, got about 220,000 miles on the rebuild! Nope, none of that computer 🐂💩 for me, I'm a girl who wants to do her own work underhood & I like to SEE the spark plugs. 😁
Sorry Scotty the car you recommended me to buy was a 2012 Toyota Camry 2.5 It is the 2AR - FE it has no rear main seal leak. It’s got 166,000 miles on it, but it burns oil like crazy and it showed no signs of that when I bought it four years ago, what the hell happened pretty disappointed!
My biggest issue with Toyota cars is they are too low to the ground. Even a 2004 Camry sits like monster truck height, compared to a new Camry.. at a light, you sit so low you can't see a 2004 Camry drivers head. Think it might sit lower than the mr2's i owned.
Properly repainting a car like that doesn't just cost a fortune. It's actually impossible from what I can tell. I couldn't find any businesses that specifically advertise it.
@@cantwealljustgetalong2 I was saying all '25s are hybrid. Your comment said there was no hybrid (or at least that's how I read it). And like the person below me who commented said, there is an AWD option as well. It's a +$1500 option, but it's there. So I am not sure what you heard they were doing with the '25s.
