I've had the Harbor Freight 3/4 set for 25 years, came in the metal case, a little grease in the head silences the rattle. The set has been used a lot and it has been used hard, I have an extension handle made out of schedule 180 (1/2" wall) that is 5 feet long, it has never skipped, never failed. The sockets have been used inappropriately too driving bearings and races, bending tubing, temporary spacers. They are great sets. If I remember right, my set was full price at $39

5:00 ohhhh! Now your talking! 3/4-1/2” adapter with that nice SV Wayne 3/4 drive ratchet 😁
Wish I had gotten some of my grandpas tools. He ran a trucking company for 50 years. I used to hang out while he was welding or working on engines. I used to sit in my dads lap in his semi when I was a toddler. My dad had me handing him tools when I wanted to play dolls. Now I have more tools than he does! 😂

I have a 3/4 set from Harbor Freight. Have had it for about 20 years or so. Works good for what I use it for. For more heavy use i would go with something better.

I bought a set of these sockets at harbor freight with a broken ratchet for like 35 bucks. An just bought another ratchet at a yard sale

my Snap On ratchet makes that same sound when shaking it, but it's just the anvil sliding in and out of the head a tiny bit. It's never failed me, and I've put some high torque on it.

I have 3/4" and 1" drive sets from there. I'm pretty sure the sockets go up to 4 or 5". I doubt I'll ever use them as sockets but I do use them. Like you said with the press but I use them for sheet metal/ body work and all kinds of stuff. I can't picture needing to remove a bolt that big ever.

a 5 inch fastener is something I will never work on in person. It's just not something I will ever come across working on Hondas and F150s, so i agree with everything you just said. Good comment.

But why in the age of computers controlling precision are they making crap tools? It's doesn't take anymore computers to get the correct tolerances it just takes fixing the tolerances. Where or what is the problem in the production process? We had better quality when they were being made by hand.

HF should make that set 6 point instead of 12
