your confident and calm nature is very inspiring - your video here reminds me that staying calm and collected means you're also capable and in control of the situation. very cool to watch
Loved the Video. I normally end up hanging upside down with my paddle waiting to be spat out after I've been kicked about for a bit and impersonated a Venetian roller blind a few times. Stage two is emptying my drysuit after the power wash! :-)
I would like to see a video about [edge] control and turns. Whenever I think of turns I often think of always using different strokes to adjust...a short guide on leaning would be great. Also loved the tips for bracing.
Ok I will add that to the list I was waiting till summer temps to do more tech tip videos but I will throw something together on that topic I use some really unorthodox techniques at times so would be fun to do..
Yes - half slice sticky hole video please! Got worked in my first sticky hole just like this yesterday. Got in, knew what was happening and what to do to brace and stay up, then realized I had no idea how to get out! 🤣 Finally washed out, got some tips and coaching, went right back in on purpose, got rolled (but not windowshaded), hit the combat roll, then realized I was still in the darn thing! I'm gonna watch & listen to this about 600 more times!
Super helpful talking about getting comfortable moving in the hole before thinking of escape. Can I ask the logic of the leaning back, instead of getting the weight forward and paddling, once the nose is free? Maybe it's just a context thing, but in larger holes, leaning back might be just as likely to backender you back into the meat of it!
Agreed and I was thinking from paddlers with none playboating skills honestly I could have done one hip thrust with a pull stroke and surfed out but never fails I see people go to the edge and just slide back go to the edge and slide back so my advice is in a Creeker best way is to load the front or back edge and get washed I agree if the hole is super big where’s it’s going to back loop creekers your probably screwed anyway us stronger players like us just seemed to find out flows anywhere in all types of holes and work with it newbies sit in side surfs and just do little forwards and back strokes till gas tank is gone then swim
@@WadeHarrison so true. Good to hear the logic. Totally agree, people's willingness to just get in and play about in a hole directly correlates to their ability to get out confidently!
No its way easier to do in a slice boat totally different. I use the hard edges and spin or blast out. I see a lot of people showing how to get out of holes and they are always in playboats but I can tell you from experience when you in a creek boat almost all those techniques will not work . Creekers you almost always need to load one of the ends to get out those sticky holes..
Might keep the paddle a little closer to the boat for better leverage. Your arm absorbs a lot of the power if it's further away from the boat. Closer to the boat has better transfer of power to the boat.

This is so awesome. Love how you can just freestyle right into a tutorial sideways in a hole.
Yeah even this has limitations sometimes it’s just your day as I found out Saturday..

Thanks
I mean damn...commentary while stuck in a hole?! You tha man Wade Harrison!
Not the first time I have yelled from holes like ROPE!!

😂 nice technical information on pins I love it
Only Wade Harrison could have a perfectly calm conversation while being side surfed in a hole. 😂😂😂
Hahah have good days sometimes
@@WadeHarrison right same here, I'd like to see this in the bottom hole on Double Suck 🤣🤣
More of this , Wade. Great job.
Hope to see you in Colorado this summer, Amigo.
Yeah buddy I’m still eyeing a CO trip around may/June
0 dislikes... Apparently everyone does get stuck in a sticky hole sometimes. Thanks for these tips!
There will be the thumb's downer coming through soon they probably just missed tis one lol
That was so cool and smooth. Much better than the Crazy Paul method, drive the bow straight into the pour over and see where you pop up .
Hahh I still want to see a crazy Paul method sounds interesting got a video of that

You should do a half slice, creek, full slice comparison of getting out of a sticky hole 👍👍👍👍
That’s a great idea especially the HalfSlice
@@WadeHarrison look forward to seeing that. Cheers Stuart
P.S. didn’t realise I was signed into work account 😂
@@WadeHarrison When you going to do the "Escaping Sticky Holes In a Halfslice" comparison to this one LOL
@@stuartreedsadventures ok will see if can put something together

Wade in a sticky hole: Calmly gives tutorial
Me in a sticky hole: Claws for dear life while on the verge of tears
I was thinking the same thing
hahaha well id have had my fair share of beatdowns to the point were if its not epic size hole I'm just like uhh this is kinda fun
Took the cries right out of my mouth!! (also I just realized there isn’t an emoji to show the fear I have when I’m stuck in a hole 😂🤣)
Another great video! Thank you!
thanks for watching!!
@@WadeHarrison Yeah man, great videos - I hope to catch my PFD on Tellico before the season is over. Great tips!!!
Can you explain the leaning back part? What happens if you don’t do that?
Loads the tail in the flow and pushes you out
@@WadeHarrison I feel like leaning back would just surely flip me over. Now i'm getting chundered in the hole upside down.

So for a slicey boat better front loop it out?

You're welcome!
I've found the Zet Toro particularly good when playing in or getting out of holes.
Very true just like Wakas not easy to stay in holes
Awesome!!
Thanks!

Totally makes sense Thanks for the tips
Has a cup of tea and a calm discussion while in a keeper hole hahahahaha 90% of people are peeing their pants in the same spot!
Oh I do get nervous in some just not this one..
Wow 4k!
most of them Im doing in 4k now
Best advice I ever got was. If you want out of a hole, try to stay in it.
Hahha interesting concept
Dam I went camping for 3 days and I become like 28th nice video though
what's the temps there here its still cold...
@@WadeHarrison its warm heare but its raining so hopefully the river goes up so stroked
