    Hydraulic jumps and overflow structures There's different categories, research them!

    Its gorgeous to look at, and that's about it for me, visual beauty without getting in it.

    Nice narration but I would have liked to have seen someone playing in it and getting out... Because I cannot get out of a hole for love or money.

    Those old y boats sure were hole magnets.

    That place for jump with milder water near you, I assume is far more dangerous for swimmer and kayaker who is stuck in the roller( type C hydrolic jump). Tough to tell form this perspective

    Is that like a low-head dam?

    • @deanc.5984
      @deanc.5984 3 роки тому

      Yes, dangerous.

    • @helix6609
      @helix6609 3 роки тому +3

      Yes, but with one major difference. In the nature you have shaped stones and the hydraulics can change a few feet left or right. There is no escape on human made structures where the dam is straight line crossing the whole river.

      @@helix6609 interesting. Makes sense though.

    As an emergency responder I could have made a quicker video. How to deal with holes & pourovers. GET OUT & WALK AROUND. It’s not worth risking your life in these drowning machines ladies & gentlemen & as much as I applaud this gentlement for trying to explain how to safely navigate them, this video is NOT adequate & does NOT highlight the serious dangers these death machines pose. DO NOT attempt these. Watch youtube videos of people caught in pour overs, low head damns, drowning machines.... GET OUT & GO AROUND. Tell your friends also. I can gurantee you all that watching helplessly as your friend drowns is NOT how you want your kayaking day to go. NOT worth the risk.

      My dentist says not eating is the trick to having really nice teeth - it's just better not to do anything ever. What the hell does "this gentleman" Eric Jackson know about kayaking anyway.

      The trick is to know what kind of holes and pourovers are actually a drowning risk and which ones are not. There are PLENTY of holes that won't recirculate someone if they end up swimming--you don't need to portage them at all. There are holes, pourovers, and dams that the best kayakers won't touch because they are that dangerous, but with the proper skills most holes on the river are manageable. A big thing to know before watching this video is that Eric Jackson knows more about whitewater than you.

      This is not a low head dam. Calm down

      Google Eric Jackson before you bring out your below par Rescue 3 training thinking you are now a river guru.

      I bet this guy knows far more about swift water rescue than you will, and I bet he has performed more swift water rescues than you have. This is pretty basic stuff in kayaking.

    You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.
