Yes - this was an awesome chapter! This -> "Thank God we don't get what we deserve; it's about doing what's pleasing to the Lord." AMEN! I love that Samuel said "I won't sin against God by failing to pray for you." Wow - that got me. God can do anything; nothing is impossible for Him; we must be faithful to pray even for those who (in our minds) don't even deserve it. But God. That His loving kindness and grace is never failing - vv 20-22 are so amazing! I am getting so much out of this study and Kim, I'm all in with the other commenters who are loving your "style" - you are so obviously on fire for God and you've had me laughing out loud, praising, crying, all of the above as you help make His Word fresh and alive for all of us. :)
"His loving kindness and grace is never failing"....so SO amazing! I just can't fathom how, in the midst of rejection, He is RIGHT THERE. I'd be ready to write someone off QUICKLY in the face of that kind of rejection. *sigh* Oh, to be long-suffering.... Help me, Lord... And wow, I can only praise God for however I come across on these videos. It is TRULY His Spirit at work. Sometimes I'm tired, frustrated (as someone interrupts, often the dark barking and what not lol), hurried because I don't have much time before someone gets home and I *know* I'll be interrupted.....and the Lord just takes over. He is so worthy to be praised. And I'm so thankful to all of you for showing up week after week, studying with me, and sharing sweet words of encouragement. My heart is full. :)
The prodigal daughter is back...lol..catching up on the study. What I love about this chapter is how Samuel made them conscious of their sin...self-deception is the worst trap we can fall into. Verses 21-22 are so powerful, every benefit God loads me with, it is for His great Name's sake even when I fall short by pursuing "empty things which cannot profit"... Considering all the great things He has done for me, I will cling!
Thank you Kim! This video is so rich! I'm on my third listen and I have to listen again because I can't get past the two and half minute mark where Samuel puts his life on trial and asks if anyone can charge him with anything and no one can. I want that! I want my character so above board that I can stand and ask if anyone has a charge against me and the answer is no. And I don't want it just be because I am saved by grace. I want stellar character! Like Acts 24:16 "So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man." I want my life to matter and my character to be like God's!! Thank you Kim!!!
As always, another amazing study! Thank you! I found it interesting that while Saul was present, this is more of a conversation between Samuel and the people yet verses 14&25, clearly show that the futures of the people and Saul are connected. I have to wonder if Saul was like "wait, I don't know if I want to be hitched to that wagon. This king thing sounded good til I learned this." Also the wording of "both you and your"...another clear reminder that we are where we are because of the choice you have made. I did love the words in v.22 which could be translated - no matter how much you mess up, God stills has your back. Hallelujah!
Kiva, I thought that was interesting as well, the "both you and your king" language. In that same vein that you raise, I wonder if the people were also like, "wait, I don't know if I want to be hitched to Saul's wagon!" ;) Choices are truly sobering. That very thing *we* want could be our downfall....yikes. And yet, that promise that "no matter how much you mess up".....where would we be without Jesus?? Hallelujah indeed!
I'm so grateful to God that you're enjoying the study, Helen. And thank you so much for your sweet encouragement! Thankful to be on this journey with you.
This was good! I've been in 1st Samuel doing a chapter a day. I can study it more in depth that way! I love Samuel! I was so shocked to learn his own sons ended up living in disobedience. This chapter was humbling too! 😢thank you!
Thank you Kim. 1sam has been one of my all time fav books. But this whole series has got me seeing the book from so many different angles. Many colors coming to life for me in this book. Appreciate your work on Christ. God remains constant though. A loving and caring father. Praise the Lord!! More Grace to you Kim😘
I love this...."God remains constant"....amen! So thankful to God that this series is causing you to see 1 Samuel from different angles. The Lord is doing the same for me as I study for this series. He is so faithful! Thank you so much for your sweet encouragement, sis. Thankful for you!
God bless you, Kim, for sharing this great video, for all of us to hear the word of the Lord and continue to serve him, as he IS faithful and almighty. God bless you!!!
I am just now taking the time to comment, but I have been following this weekly study faithfully (lots of notes and highlights in my Bible in 1 Samuel so far LOL)....this is so wonderful!!!! I found it interesting in verse 19 when the people referred to God as "your God" and in verse 25 Samuel referred to Saul as "your king". What have I made "my king"? WOW!! This is some meaty stuff here! I am asking God right now to shed light in that area of my life- oompfh....thank God for His grace-LOL!!! I have been taught, convicted, corrected and blessed by this study! Thank you for this Cling series!!! God bless you, Kim.
Charlene, wow, so good to "meet" you and to know we've been studying together! :) Those references struck me as well! Can't you just hear Samuel's tone when he said, "your king"? It truly is meaty stuff to ask such a searching question...."What have I made my king?" I'm with you in thanking God for His grace! And thank *you* for your encouragement about the study. Praising God that He is using it your life. He's so faithful! Blessings to you!
Amen Kim! he has done the ultimate sacrifice for us ,his son Jesus Christ and each day of life is a blessing, thank you I am so so encouraged each cling series bible study ! and I just thank you so much my sis :) God bless you 💗💗
"...each day of life is a blessing"....AMEN, sis! Yes, that ultimate sacrifice. We are forever grateful! So thankful for you as well and love studying with you.
God is king and I love him if I did not honor him I am so sorry you are my best friend and everything. I love you lord always please never leave me I know you have billion things and more for me. Thank you awesome God.
Whose ox have I taken? Whose ass have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? Whose bribe have I accepted to blind thine eyes therewith and I will restore it to you. I have taken no ox, I have taken no ass, neither have I defrauded, neither have I oppressed, neither have I accepted a bribe to blind thine eyes therewith and I will restore it to you.
WOW! This one hit me between the eyes: Where am I not honoring You as my Lord and King? As my Portion? As my Strength? As my Peace?

kimcashtate hadn't thought about the people and Saul's wagon....just because he's tall and handsome doesn't mean he'll be a good king 😂
