Your tone and musicality are unreal!
Glad you enjoyed this Christopher!
Absolutely beautiful. Listening to you play makes me a better player.
Thank you very much Jack!
Your sound us my goal AL and I'm studying all your stuff to get there like chromatic slur studies, range studies, tounge position for high and the big one is extremely low lip pressure. It ALL WORKS.👍👍👍
That’s likely not hyperbole. Ever try playing a piece immediately after listening to an amazing performance of same? There’s almost always considerable improvement.
Amazed how such high notes don't bother you. I was stressed just following along!
Thank you Thomas!
There will be an version available. Much nicer in D-minor than G-minor.
Another beautiful rendition of a piece by Matonizz.
Thank you very much massmanute!
I would say this is your best work yet. Your phrasing is superb and use of vibrato just right. The clarity of the recording is finally as it should be . Congratulations. Now that David Childs is at the University of North Texas here in the States and appearing you have some real competition for all of us to enjoy. So as a lover of Euphonium having all of you to enjoy is a real miracle for me. I enjoy Steven and Misa Mead and Dr Bowman too. You all are advancing the Euphonium and I hope many more listeners find all of you to enjoy. If I were 50 years younger I might might start playing my Besson again because of you all. Thank you so much for your time and your efforts. Your performances brings great joy to my heart.
Thank you very much for kind words and constructive feedback as usual! Very glad to hear you're enjoying the content friend! We're always trying to better ourselves as musicians as well as better our content, truly appreciate the support!
absolutely love listening to your tone
Thank you Bakuganta!
@@Matonizz, it is pretty nice tone…for a euphonium.
Bellissima e Magica Esecuzione, ci provo ma...!! Grazie sempre, Maestro 🤗
Thank you Luigi!
Awesomely smooth! 👏🏾
your tone sounds amazing, this piece sounds like something from studio ghibli, amazing!
Just beautiful is about all I can say. So melo and smooth. Loved it. Thank you so much for all your songs.
Thank you very much Sandra! Glad you're enjoying the content!
Fantastic. Hadn't heard this in a long time. Loved it!
Thank you very much Bill! Appreciate kind comments as usual!
Isn’t this a beautiful piece? Been trying for a couple weeks to remember the movie in which I first heard this. Thinking the movie, “Excalibur,” from 1980 or so? I KNOW I first heard this in a film.
Amazing job lad
Thank you Ian!
Hi BrassNation, I find something really hypnotizing about this solo. Hope you enjoy the beautiful blend of some gorgeous euphonium and piano sounds. G.Faure's "Sicilienne" brilliantly arranged for you by Drew Fennell as usual. Make sure to show some love by liking, sharing with your friends and commenting, would truly help us out a lot. Sheet music in 3 different versions and Piano Backing tracks are available for download only at www.matonizz.com/product/sicilienne/
Have a great week friends!
Matonizz
what a beautiful plaintiff lament
Thank you Wayne!
This was my sight reading assessment for year 12 a coulple months ago and I must say it's one of my favourites I've ever played.
Very nice piece truly! What was assessment for, band?
What a beautiful a piece attention to detail. The notes just seem to dance on a endless flow of air. You are truly hypnotizing! What is this piece? I’d love to play it (alone, so no one can hear me!) ✨😊✨
Thank you Eddie! Glad you enjoyed it. It's Gabriel Fauré, Sicilienne op. 78. Check www.matonizz.com/product/sicilienne/ if you ever want to find sheet music and backing tracks ;)
Very well done! I don't know if anyone else has this same feeling, but I feel like this has some similarities with some of the pieces from Everywhere at the End of Time. Maybe not inspiration taken from this piece directly, but perhaps this style? Regardless, it's a very nice piece, the Euphonium sounds like a very pleasant instrument.
This is also my daily exercise with my Baritone Flugelhorn, Maestro ... a little more demanding but ... we will do it
Thank you Luigi!
Such a smart use of third valve to get the Gs perfectly in tune, based on whether you’re in g minor or Eb major. I just showed this to a student of mine to illustrate the instances we actually use third as a standalone valve.
Are there other solos from Fauré’s suite of tunes from Palléas et Melisande that might work for the euphonium? I’d love to put together a Fauré set for an upcoming recital, but a set from an intact work would be better.
Hey man love your videos, I was wondering if you'd be willing to do some more videos of you working through pieces like you have before. Thanks!
We plan do bring that back as well as many more things, just a matter of time. Glad you enjoy the content Finn, will have many more cool stuff coming out in near future :)
Reminds me of some of the mood music in the N64 Zelda game.
Love the song
Can you make flugelhorn version?
Thanks Luuk and yes, coming next week :)
How can you play so high and it still sounds beautiful?I'm a beginner I need some tips please!
Hi friend, check my educational video playlist. I've made numerous videos on high range that will help you for sure :)
Can't imagine playing this myself, you are truely fantastic. At what age did you start playing?

@@Matonizz Grojote Lietuvoje ar užsienyje, orkestre ar band'e?
As jau kuri laik Jav gyvenu, grojimai labai priklauso, ypatingai pastaraisiais pora metu savaime suprantama :D
Not sure if I would call in it "hypnotizing." Nice melody. from Faure
Hey Ellen, nice hearing from you! Hope you're doing well! Fair enough, I just personally find something hypnotizing about the harmony and blend of sound between euph and piano. Either way, appreciate your feedback as usual and hope you enjoyed it :)
Does the beard offer a advantage while playing?
Makes you feel cool :D
Reminds me so much of Star Wars...
Which particular piece just curious?

Hey Smitty!

How many hours a day do you practice?
Varies based on schedule but around 2 on average if I had to guess. Used to practice much much more when I was younger but not necessarily smarter ;)
@@Matonizz, liar.
@@Matonizz Thank you so much for the response. I hope and strive to be as good Euphonium player as you in a few years!
@@EuphoniumJoe, take a good multivitamin and visualize cute baby bunnies and you’ll be at least as good as @matonizz in a year or less. 😉
@@TheMusicofDrewFennell I will take your word for it. I will try to visualize bunnies while I practice.
thinking about playing this for this years Solo & Ensemble. Any tips?
I think the arpeggiated chords of piano would be hard to replicate with brass ensemble. Probably you`ll lose "flow" of song
Hey Evan, I've attached below the performance notes we created + some extra stuff. Hope this helps
Performance Notes:
Fauré’s lovely work, “Sicilienne,” was originally composed in 1893 as incidental music for a comedic ballet, “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme.” The production was cancelled, and the piece sat essentially unperformed for five years until the composer orchestrated it as incidental music for “Palléas et Melisande.” The piece is most known from a suite of music from 1909, culled from that body of music.
While the dynamic of the piece is generally soft, and even the two forte sections should be somewhat measured, the player should not feel unduly constrained to piano and pianissimo. The melody should be allowed to rise and fall as the pitch rises and falls, and the “feeling” of a soft dynamic is more important than strict adherence to it. The soloist becomes accompanist at a few points-most notably in the section at letters E and F, and even then, the warm cantabile aspect should be kept.
Also: the use of vibrato should be measured, since it's not as obvious as some of traditional euphonium literature. For practice purpose, I would suggest marking it in as well as putting very clear breath marks.
