Indeed. Though I gotta say this is a completely different interpretation of the same piece - Chuck's version was a lot more edgy, with the individual notes played virtually like staccati, almost like a march. This is a lot more fluent and softer - though I liked both versions.
The internet has made discovery instantaneous, and even better, made us aware of the fact that the things we discover alone are actually being discovered simultaneously by others who, like us, have been driven by a mutual human curiosity and appreciation of beauty... as well as excellent taste in television!
Chuck is a complex guy. So deep in some aspects, and so shallow in others. This is a very sweet piece and shows a gentle and vulnerable side of him that he attempts it and cannot conquer it. Dam, this show is so well written. Take nothing for granted with BCS!
+ericha sf I think you missed the point. Chuck's classical and measured upbringing juxtaposes his brother's quick-and-easy style, something that Chuck hates. This piece would take years to master (and is beautifully performed by this pianist). Chuck's inability to conquer it (something that would have been easy in the past) shows the conflict he has with his brother and the fact that Jimmy is getting to him. Kudos to the writers for this subtle scene.
+Ian Sutherland hmm.... I've heard that interpretation from a couple of people (that Chuck is fumbling that piece bc Jimmy's getting to him). Wasn't he already messing it up before Howard got there with the news about Jimmy? Just for the sake of discussion, I'd say that scene was more about Chuck's internal conflict (remember this guy is full of phobia's) than his preoccupation with his brother in that moment. As for Sicilienne, it might take years to reach that level of ability to read music, and most amateurs wouldn't have it in their bench. It seems Chuck can read it, just has a mental block getting through that transition. Agree though, no matter how you analyze it, brilliant, thought provoking writing!!
+ericha sf Just because he found out about jimmy getting the job, it doesn't mean that he wasn't already being bothered by his falling out with jimmy. He couldn't even start playing after he found out jimmy got that job.
+ericha sf Just because he found out about jimmy getting the job, it doesn't mean that he wasn't already being bothered by his falling out with jimmy. He couldn't even start playing after he found out jimmy got that job.
Chuck is all about pragmaticism. Of course his education and mastering of litterature is far above a regular human being, but this very scene shows him facing the reality of his condition: he is incapable of thinking outside the box even though he desperately wants to. That's one of the reasons he hates Jimmy so much, a little brother who is excellent at using the frame to bypass it. Furthermore, Jimmy is a monster of empathy, ready to put his very existence in danger to protect what is precious to him, although Chuck is all about law and won't let anybody deviate him from his trajectory. Taking a closer look at the scene shows the pendulum used by Chuck to keep pace slightly lagged after Howard's visit, a way to emphasize the rising internal struggle he's about to live.
This piece of music.....when I was a child,i heard it from TV and was always looking for it in that it was so beautiful.I just found it last month and finally knew its name.It has been 15years since I heard it.From a 7years old boy ,to a 22 unversity student. Thanks for the wonderful playing, i remembered my childhood
Merci pour cette superbe interprétation. Fauré est un des plus grands compositeurs, à la fois romantique et néo-classique. Un très bon pédagogue aussi avec d'illustres élèves comme Ravel.
From all the piano videos for this music on UA-cam, this is the most beatiful of them all. It has the right tempo, the right feeling, the right emotion. I just can't get tired of hearing it. Wish there was an mp3 version of this playing. Congratulations, btw. This music is inspiration.
Well played, this is such a lovely composition by Gabriel Faure. I don't know what any of you are talking about. I just came here because I like this song.
So basically, it's impossible to both watch Better Call Saul, enjoy good music AND be Hyokua. Your lack of faith in humanity is far beyond expectations !
Same here. It was the background music for my father's stock market updates on TV and I listened to it everyday for 5 mins for at least a summer. It has registered in my mind ever since.
This is absolutely beautiful. Your playing is so admirable.. I wish I could have such sensitivity and emotion in my playing. Wonderful job. Thank you. :)
I had never heard of Gabriel Faure until about 4 years ago. Sicilienne is a very nice piece. So I got the sheet music and practiced and practiced. Everyone that I played it for told me that it was a most beautiful piano piece.
With all due respect, the Michael McKean rendering is just a bit more dramatic, and NOT because he keeps messing it up... THANK YOU WILD MAN Vince Gilligan & Co. As usual... B R A V O ! ! !
i was searching for sicilinne by schummann but i mis typed the composer and tumbled over this video.. i heard those first notes and remembered when i was 3 a tradegy that i held on vengeance since then .. but when you played the rest of the notes the song just melted my heart.. thanks
This is a lovely piece! This is a piece for Balanchine’s “Emerald Variation” - a beautiful ballet variation that I am currently learning. Thank you for this!
I remember playing this (poorly) on flute as a kid. Such a beautiful and melancholy piece. I get tingles whenever I hear it done well - like just now. Thank you so much.
The music playing at Gretchen & Elliott's house in the Final of Breaking Bad: Charles Gounod - "Faust", Musique de ballet - took me forever to find it!!! Brings back that scene so clearly!
Great performance, well played!!! Im learning this song rn, honestly its so chill. When i practice pieces its a lil frustrating getting it right, but this song is fun practicing for some reason
It has been done for a month, but stopped practicing. Got back to it, and its kinda a wreck. Man i gotta retain songs better. SIKE THAY WAS LAST WEEK! i got it back to perfomring. Once u had it at one point, u can get it again a lot faster.
+Stanley Hudson well I already got the first part un one day... then I decides to do fi's and midnas lament. I tried a lot of songs lol. it was a hell of day today
i would like to say thanks for being my accompanist at home, cause i play the flute and without your performance i wouldnt have been able to play, so thank you :) p.s youre a life saver :D
my experience is similar! i heard it on tv when i was a kid in my grandparents' place. now both of them passed away, this piece makes me feel that they are still with me, and a beautiful sunset.
can i have a link to this music sheet? a piano solo only like this one. i really love this song and i tried to search for it in the net but i can't seem to find one. please help me. my recital is coming up soon and i need a piece. please help. thank you very much!
Chuck (Better Call Saul) is like Marie in Everybody Loves Raymond: great characters played so well by the actors that one ends up hating both. Their artistry is in reminding us of someone in our family or just plain repulsed by their self-centeredness and lack of compassion for the feelings of relatives or anyone else's.
Of course I'm here years later because I'm rewatching BCS. I don't even like Harry Potter but I can't be the only one that thinks of Hedwig's Theme when they hear this song
très bonne interprétation, le piano est parfait, bien expréssif et un jolie son qui n'est pas métalique. j'ai mis ton interprétation avec partition Gabriel Fauré " Sicilienne" Piano solo"
lol how long did it take you to be able to do this? we had the choice of playing this and another song for our finals in piano class....three months of attempts only yielded me the first two lines of the sheet music memorized lol guess it doesn't help i was practicing the other song more... anyway, very good job..., it is a tad rushed, but not too much~
One minute I'm sitting on my butt watching TV, and the next I'm expanding my musical horizons. Better call Saul!
Yes. Me too. Who said TV doesn't educate?
Me too :)))
Faure is amazing.It just sings...
@@ITALJUTE it's just most of the times, it's degeneracy, but sometimes yeah, there are positives
Yeah that scene with Chuck kinda changed everything, - made life a little better.
BCS introduced me to some beautiful music.

This version s beautiful honestly
Brought me into playing piano again, have been struggling for three years to be able to fully play this piece. Thank you Better Call Saul!
The internet has made discovery instantaneous, and even better, made us aware of the fact that the things we discover alone are actually being discovered simultaneously by others who, like us, have been driven by a mutual human curiosity and appreciation of beauty... as well as excellent taste in television!
+Kim Carlson Exactly! Pretty amazing stuff! And to know we ain't alone in it all! Well said, my friend! Well said!
This is a very eloquent restatement of the usual 'BCS brought me here'
^ This is the very definition of 'Well said!" :)
Well said !

Cant expect too much from Squiggey.

Yes Skinny Pete can play piano!
Magistrale et juste interprétation, tout en nuance. Fauré était un génie et vous le rendez bien. Bravo !
Chuck was such a complex character. I had never heard this song, but it made me such a big fan of his character.
Woke up with this earworm on this beautiful morning...I've been watching Better Call Saul, trying to find season 6 now.

My heart just melted. I'm so fond of the piano solo version
Anyone know of a good tutorial for this song?
Ps. SG was here
Well played, this is such a lovely composition by Gabriel Faure.
I don't know what any of you are talking about. I just came here because I like this song.
The fact that this video was posted the same year I was born and now here I am 15 years later trying to learn this wonderful piece…
So basically:
90% better call Saul
9.99% people who enjoy good music
0.01% something called Hyokua
Civ 5 brought me here in 2010 and I've been coming back ever since
hyouka fan here!!

This is my absolute favorite song to play on the piano. I love listening just as much as I love playing! Great job!
You played that so gently and beautifully, I listened to it ten times in row
better call Saul #1090 reporting for duty
It's showtime !
You're dynamics of sound are absolutely perfect. You go from f to p amazingly.
your mastery of the crescendo/decrescendo is really impressive in your interpretation, ty, its catchy !

I love the little cadences near the beginning, a lot (most?) of piano renditions play it differently, I like it this way!
You play with great feeling and sensitivity on the keyboard which lifts the piece upwards. Well done indeed.
