    A hotel would be a GAME CHANGER and would absolutely draw us & many more new visitors!! Replacing the parking lot with garages would be a great start to an expansion 👏👏

    They definitely need to do some sort of parking garage so they could have much more space for expansion. Also, a hotel in the park is much needed.

    This is a very exciting video! So much hype for my home park! I think inside those large areas will come with a large set of family activities, indoor parks like in the West Edmonton Mall are my best guess! Wax museums, mini rides, indoor roller coasters, kids' playplaces, arcades, the works!
    Despite the drawbacks of a parking lot, it did do one thing I really liked which was to build up the actual entrance. When you walk there, there's nothing blocking your sight, and your eyes are guided toward the entrance, and then when you walk past that threshold you get to see Wonder Mountain and everything! I hope that if this expansion does come, it still preserves the anticipation and clear sightline of what you're coming for. :D
    They also really need some way to get a subway extension, it would reduce parking, make the expansion multiseason, and make CW more accessible to Torontonians, especially for most young thrill-seekers who probably don't own a car.
    Something you mentioned at the start of the video piqued my curiosity. You mentioned how Canada's Wonderland was acting very creatively when it came to maximizing its space efficiency. Would you ever consider making a video on that?
    Thanks for your analysis! Vid was awesome!

      @@Rywdb Thank you so much! It’s hard to say how much of this will actually come into fruition, but you can definitely see threads of those ideas making their way into the park. I agree with you on how epic that reveal is when you first walk through the gates. I’m sure the park is aware of this and would keep those sightlines in mind if they were to modify the entrance.
      And that’s a great idea for a future vid! I’ll keep that mind and try to come with something 😁

      @@AdventuresWithParker Awesome! Hope to see a vid about that sometime soon! Would probably have to be a general video about land usage creativity. I'm an architecture/city planning student, so this stuff really interests me! (If you ever wanna brainstorm stuff together for that idea let me know) :D
      It is quite amazing just how much CW has fit in its lot, doubling up lots, using sky and land space, overlapping themes, moving along adjacent pathways, and just plain ol' multi-usage buildings. Yeah! Very exciting stuff! It's like a puzzle of how much you can fit into one place!!!

    I’m not sure about shopping and restaurants like Disney Springs. It’s too close to Vaughan Mills. I like the idea of hotels and maybe create a some dark rides. This way they can be rethemed for Halloween Haunt and Winterfest.

    RIP Kingswood Music Theatre, Labatt's International Showplace, Saltwater Circus, SkyRider, Heritage Kids, Dr. Placebo's Medicine Cart, Smurf Village,...They may have had their flaws and outlived their usefulness, but they were part of home for those of us who worked there in the 80s.

    One of the multitude of things I wanted to discuss with you during my visit was the lack of close by, almost Downtown Disney like place there. I was amazed by the vastness of Wonderland, and agreed with the sizing comparison whilst I walked around Magic Kingdom last month.
    I agree with you that Canada's Wonderland really needs to become more of a tourist destination with hotels on property and having Vaughn Mills closeby. For someone coming out of town (like me) even with a knowledgable guide/host (like you) there's really no way to do everything in one day. If there was a closeby hotel to the park ( with Disney like privleges) on my trips to Toronto would say spend 4 days in T-Dot and 2 1/2 or so days in Canada's Wonderland so I could get everything done. Having the Disney Springs/CityWalk - esque experience would bring in more tourists. It's a fun park, I want to come back, spend more time and more importantly, more money.

    • @AdventuresWithParker
      @AdventuresWithParker 7 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely! It’s already a multi-day park (especially if you don’t have Fast Lane), and although we have Vaughan Mills nearby and some plazas across the street, having an upscale and possibly themed retail area on property would bring in more revenue opportunities for the park.
      Good point about people visiting Toronto too! We definitely get a lot of tourists, so creating that onsite resort would be beneficial. With recent public transit developments, it’s not hard to get to downtown Toronto from the park by bus and subway, making it a good hub for people who also want to explore the city.

      There are hotels near by. My guess is they don't offer shuttle service because the hotels and CW won't work together to make it happen.

    I could see CW doing away with the parking lot. The subway is already reaching Vaughan and could be extended. People would get to CW using public transit, like people already do with the Rogers Centre and Scotiabank Arena. Vaughan would still need to invest a lot more into transit however

    Disneyland has several large parking structures. Wonderland can easily create a large multistory parking garage and expand the park itself into the freed up parking space.
    On a side note, a city of Toronto's size should warrant another competitor park considering how overcrowded wonderland can be. I wonder if 6 flags would ever consider it.

    • @AdventuresWithParker
      @AdventuresWithParker 7 місяців тому

      Exactly! Now parking structures are very expensive to build and maintain, but given the size and attendance of Wonderland, it could totally be justified.
      And I agree! I don’t know if Six Flags would want to own two parks in the same city, but Toronto could absolutely host another park.

      @GerryRR 7 місяців тому

      Yeah all they need is maybe 300 million dollars and boom! Parking garage.
      That's a conservative estimate by the way. In reality I'm sure the actual project would cost more.

  • @billybob33366
    @billybob33366 7 місяців тому +1

    I think the point of the rendering was to show an expansion without rollercoasters being the main driver.
    If Cedar Fair wants that global attraction, it's going to have to come in the form of bigger, faster, taller more exciting rides.
    Great video and information!

    • @AdventuresWithParker
      @AdventuresWithParker 7 місяців тому +1

      That's a good point! I'm sure the expansion could accomodate new coasters (especially in that Kingswood area), but that clearly wasn't the main point of it. I think Wonderland has a solid lineup as it is, but they do need at least one more world-class ride (whether that be a coaster or a good dark ride) to truly gain that elite, international destination status.
      Thanks for watching 😊

    The parking garages shown on the concept art would cost upwards of $250,000,000. There's 20+ new structures shown, disregarding size.
    The only way an expansion like this happens is if Disney buys the park lol

    • @AdventuresWithParker
      @AdventuresWithParker 7 місяців тому

      It would definitely be an expensive project, and would be one of the biggest investments that the park has ever done. But two things to remember are that (1) the park is part of a large chain (that's about to get even bigger), so funds can be pulled from multiple sources if needed, and (2) if Cedar Fair can justify the return on investment that such an expansion could bring, then it may be worth it to front such a cost. Obviously, it's hard to say as an outsider what that ideal threshold would be, and I don't foresee this happening anytime soon. But it's definitely not outside the realm of possibilities.
