Anybody else obsessed with stabilized camera movements and sick cinematic b roll? If so, then you're gonna be as obsessed with this new camera stabilizer as we are!! A rig like this used to cost over $50,000 and now out of left field Tilta gives us one for jsut over $1000!! What are your thoughts?? Are you gonna be picking one up??
You really wone me with aka beast msi changed my world ...looking forward to this
@@maxmaxmaxgoon5602 yessss hahhahah have you been gaming on it at all???
@@sawyerhartman not at all there is so much to the story I will make video soon but thanx to u I would have never never bought a laptop
By the way, your link to the music you use is not working. It says it's an Invalid Dynamic Link, it's not just me.

Wowww I absolutely do not need this, but what a revolution in tech being able to bring this concept down to a more “pro-sumer” level! 🎥
Oh yeah man
the opening shot of The Place Beyond The Pines is shot handheld.
As is the Children of Men example, and Clockwork was either a dolly or a zoom. Kind of funny. Don't know if I would have used those examples.
Nothing but respect for you Sawyer. You’ve been consistently creating bangers week in, week out! Been a massive influence to my content and many other peoples too. Thank you for everything! 👊
I got you bro!!!
Dude, I feel the exact opposite for this guy. You said Goodfellas was directed by Coppola? And some of those sequences in your little intro were NOT shot using a Steadicam! And you are trying to sell me this piece of crap for filmmaking and yet you know nothing about films! and you actually compare it to an ARRI Trinity???? You are a joke and should be ashamed of yourself. You are not a camera operator. You are nothing. You are the definition of a UA-camr and that is not a compliment.
@@Ajidam Jesus Christ calm down buddy. No need to be an asshole here.
There was no gimbal involed in all of the shots you mention at the beginning. Just the steadycam. The Arri Trinity did not exist before 2015 and the movies you presented are older (some waaay older) than that. One of the latest and more famous movies using the trinity was Deakins on 1917.
Deakins was the DoP, not even the operator! The C70 would be the heaviest camera is trust on that rig... did you see the size of the suspension arms? Tiny!
Awesome vid man!!! Can you use just 1 Vmount battery? Seems like that would be enough power for most shoots
Yeah but throws off the pole balance!
@@sawyerhartman please show this rig with RS2 batteries attached.

Thanks for the great review! We purchased one about a month ago, it's still on back order. We know it will be worth the wait!
Do y’all still use it???
Thought I was done buying gear, saw this video and I’m instantly sold. A problem I’ve been battling is also using cine primes and gimbals. The micro jitter is annoying and holding long takes is so fatiguing. Awesome video man. Thanks for the time you put into this!
man brotha I can totally relate to this that’s probably one the reasons why I haven’t expressed the interest just yet to produce another Short Film with my 6K Pro because in reality I don’t have all the proper gear to build it into a beast cinema camera on the stabilization side I have a Ronin S but my 6K Pro is too bulky to fit it so now I have to get the new RS3 Pro which I saw in a video from another UA-camr filmmaker and film riot as well the 6K Pro does wonders on the new RS3 but I was still hesitant because I said to my self “man ion wanna keep dealing with constantly holding the gimbal in front of me my arms are gonna get tired my back starts to hurt and the micro jitters are the biggest cons on all gimbals then you try your best to hold still to prevent micro jittering you’re damn near gonna make yourself pass out!!! but now that I seen this Video I’m instantly SOLD on it and will be buying both the rs3 and this tilta float to combo it together im just extremely obsessed with buttery shots and steadicams are sooo expensive they make it hard for us low budget filmmakers not anymore but trust and believe I felt this comment 😭
@@EDJK_ yo. It’s crazy how similar our issues were. So I bought it, tested it, and loved it. The one drawback is the setup time and once it’s on, it’s on. There’s no going back. For me , I’d need a person who strapped in and used this primarily at our weddings. I made a gimbal setup with the easyrig minimax that is soooo perfect. No fatigue either. I’ll be posting a video on it soon but it’s an amazing alternative to this.
@@EDJK_@justinportermedia
Are you two still using your tilta floats? I just bought mine and I’m waiting for it in the mail. Been binging any and every float content I can find! Loved your livestream on it Justin. But I really want to know if you still use it .
Terrific review. Amazing shots and the value the Tilta Float appears to bring is such a game changer for indie filmmakers.
Absolutely incredible, waiting for more videos made with it
True story: Your video convinced me to buy a Float 14 weeks ago, and I bought a C70 a week ago, and I didn't realize you shot this with the C70 until I watched it again just now. I'm so stoked to learn to use my new Float with my new C70. Thanks for the great video!
How you liking it sofar?
Are you liking it? Do you still use it?
That's a nice setup actually. I dig, big steadycam fan and this a nice merging of the worlds.
This is so perfect for our commercial work and film work, and we can't believe it exists at this price point! 😱 thank you for sharing this! 🔥🔥
Sawyer,
Glad to see you back and making videos. This was awesome, though I'll have to actually make more videos and continue honing the craft before I can justify buying anything like this.
Goodfellas is Scorsese’s. And the sequence you are taking about is indeed from that movie.
Coppola, on the other hand, shot The Godfather.
Is good to learn about the films you want to talk about. Specially when your audience is mostly filmmakers. Specially if you refer to one of the best classics of all times.
Plus Steadicam wasn't even invented in 1970-71, when Kubrick shot A Clockwork Orange! The opening shot of Alex must be a dolly.
It doesn't fail, someone does something to show it generously and someone always goes looking for the problem where there isn't one. I appreciate your valuable information and I hope to see a video at the height of your intellect soon.
@@rdeckard3324 oh my god, that's right, I'm not going to balance my Ronin anymore!
The beginning of Place Beyond the Pines is actually handheld. Incredible handheld.
Bruh this review was Fire! And the colors you are getting out of that C70 are mind blowing.
This piece of tech is actually unreal. And the price! Looks like it's worth every penny
Sawyer man how do you do it?! Every time you post a video it’s about something that I’m looking into I love it! Anyway how’s life treating you?
So amazing! Can’t wait to strap my RS2 on this. Was using our R2 on a easy rig the other day - my back still hurts lol 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Thank you for this great video
Thanks for the honest and awesome review! Going to try this out on my next documentary shoot!
Killing it brother
brotha, nice presentation - love your energy here. Question - can you share what monitor and articulating arm you are using? also any other parts or modifications you did to mount this onto the float? appreciate you.
good question
Hi Sawyer - great video! I'm pretty new at this... can I use it with a Sony a1, a DJI RS3 Pro and a Sony 200mm-600mm for a sports shoot? Thank you!
Hey thanks man, great video!
I just got the V mount version today. What brand are the V mount batteries with the 86 on them? Are they thinner than normal V mounts?
Very Nice. Another Great Video
1, long hair is a good look for you dude
2, absolutely a game changer. What an exciting time to be a filmmaker
I suddenly want all my videos from here on out to be long one-take shots using this 😂
Aaron Sorkin would like to talk to you.
Can you recommend a compliant v mount battery to buy (2) ??
Hey can you make a video comparison of sony A1 8k footage and the red 8k footage. (not sure which red camera model has it)
I am curious to see how they both compare and is the sony 8k really that good or its just a marketing gimmick.
Hi
Thanks for a video
Weights were included in a box as well?
Can you do a follow up review on this. Also, every time you put on off the vest, do you need to re-balance it. Lets say your a wedding videographer and you take to off to go into car, then next location you put it back on. Is it easy ?
Same. A follow up review of this would be nice.
Woah!! This is a game changer!!
yay new video
Sawyer Hi - thanks for that. Are you still using it? Can you tell me which V-mount batteries you are using and does the TF come with the mount holder as I see you have two there. Thanks, Ivan
Sweet coffee cup dude. And were you operating without shoes? Lolllll
Great video, must buy
what do you need in order to go out and shoot..? I know I need the v mount battery and what else..?
That’s so sick wow! Bet it will be super backordered unfortunately. I still haven’t gotten the ring for my DJI RS2 yet
Can you create another video talking about cost? I am thinking of BMCC6K Pro setup but the RS2 + Float system system seems to be a lot of money on top of the camera, lens, media etc
Let’s be real... those two v mount batteries alone cost more than my phone.
hahahhahah never thought of that tbh!
Nice review!
Being a heavy steadicam user with BMPCC6K i was over weight limit on the Pilot, so I picked the float, nice quality kit but the waist belt is killing me
Any tips on getting the belt not to hurt will help
shoulder straps and extra padding. Buy a padded foam belt and strap it to the inside
I just bought the Tilta float because of this video. I allready have the C70 and RS2. What i need to know what kind of v-mount battery is recommended?
any other accessories you recommend?
What's it like on the back to use this for any length of time ?
Looking for a Velcro extension belt for the Tilta Float vest. It's cold here and with a heavy coat the vest will not fit properly.
There are like 4 versions of this for sale. I'm not sure which to get. I don't have the batteries yet, so I can just buy whichever ones are the best option (which are)?
Other than the batteries, what exactly are the differences between the available Float options?
How you done the RS2 balance with C70 without any 3rd brand rig?
Sick!
I also have Tilta float, can I ask what kind if monitor you are using? I am using a 7" and it is a big...creates vibrations also...
Do you need an additional focus puller or is it ok to use to one that comes with the rs2?
The one that is included has the same function as the DJI. I USB C to my S1H
I need to send your video to my music producer. He shoots music videos and one of the main things he can capture as he’s filming my piano playing is quick snap moving shots of my hands moving around the keyboard in ways that only this device can capture. 😎
Great video, thanks for sharing. Do you think this would be suitable for real estate videography? My worry is that it's quite clunk for small apartments. What do you think?
By the way, your link to the music you use is not working. It says it's an Invalid Dynamic Link, it's not just me.
Great. Does it work on RSC2 as well?
Woowww amazing brother I liked
This looks badass
Quality review
Can you mount an RS2 directly on the support arm - not using the pole? I work in tight spaces and I just want support.
you can, there is an adapter
Ok I’m sold on this!
Hi, the opening shot of the place beyond the pines is a handheld shot. Sean Bobbitt, the DP who shot it, gave a workshop I attended a few years ago and said it was handheld.
Wonderful. Now I have a Moza Aircross2, but I think it does't work with any glidecam..
Does this kit comes with the DJI RS2? What if i already have a DJI R3?
it fits with RS3
Hey Sawyer, how did you get the v-mount batteries here?
it has mount included
Wolf of Wall Street used a techno crane for that shot, Goodfellas was a Scorsese movie, and the steadicam was never used on a clockwork orange
It's a belt, not a vest. I'd really like to see you or Adam do a video where you highlight the differences between this system and a DYI gimbal/stabilizer rig. Not just in terms of set up and general use but the practical on set/location differences of the Float vs. DYI. As someone with experience with steadicams on film sets I immediately noticed drawbacks to the each DYI I saw as opposed to the Float. Several videos of DYIs ignore these issues as cats seem to care more about "look what I made" verses practical use.
the main idea of this option is simplicity of assembly. at the end of the day these stabilizers (DIYs and commercially made) are just a pole with a weight on the bottom. its 90% operator and 10% gear. master what you have and you will pull off great shots.
Bro I saw another guy did review and he hated it , he couldn’t balanced it and his back was killing it within few minutes. I know your review was totally different but I’m honestly how long it took u to balance ? Can u share all those info and building the whole setup?
look at bestboys link he mentioned. if you are new to this type of operating your lower back will build up lactic acid within minutes, causing your lower back to feel like its burning. ive been operating steadicam professionally for 20 years.
Hello! Not a few of us feel identified with that frustration when seeing the results of a careful take. There is a lot of marketing and sponsored teams on UA-cam, you always think that this will be final and the z axis does not forgive !!!
DJI RS3 Pro, improves but does not solve.
But a solution that attacks that problem sounds more logical than buying "the latest algorithm". So, as I thought, with 3 axes resolved, we have to go for the damn Z axis. Thank you very much for your video and for the hope! subscribed.
RS3 gimbal applies on this tilta ?
Pretending I understand everything coming out of Sawyers mouth as I appreciate the video!
What batteries do you recommend for the tilta!!? Links ?
depends on what you got. i have AB batteries for my steadicam , but they are all nice. if you have a dji drone that uses tb50 then just get those.
@@marctronixx i have the tilta float. Exact gimbal he had. V mount
@@aramisnature how is your float do you like it ?
does the title comes with v mount battery?
Dude I love u
I'm going to also use this on wedding shoots
Does it work with dji rs3????
Thanks for your reviewing 😘 it's only con that is you may need a shooting permission time to time.
Just ordered mine, can't wait! Thanks for this video! How's your back using the Tilta Float? I heard lots of people complaining about back pain...
Any follow up on that would be great!
@@ivanmadethis Yeap. I use a very thin weight lifting belt under the Float belt and it works well. No back pain.
@@HighDesertEntertainmentHDE Have you tried the vest they made for this?
@@ivanmadethis Yes. Even before the Tilta vest was available, I used a similar shoulder strap and modified the belt and the Float to use the pendulum. For light setup, the vest worked fine with no back pain but for heavy setup, I still need to wear the weight training belt.
is it comparable to the thanos pro II?
Siri where’s my wallet 😂🧡💪🏾 I’m super excited for this thanks for the beautiful video!
hahahhaha I got you my brother!
how about this exact stabilaiter BUT WITH A SHOCKMOUNT ON THE PART WHERE YOU TOUCH THE POLE!! so the part you hold is like a tube that is around the pole and the pole floats inside the tube! Like a Mic Shock Mount!!!
Hi. Just pitching in all the movies you mentioned were not shot with Arri trinity. Just steadicam. Which is much less expensive and there is a lower price threshold to get in to. Cheers
What the F… What phone did you buy at that Price 🙈😅
But yeah i have the c70 with the speedbooster my self.. it is awesome.. and the tilta rig also :) Nice video s always.
BOOM!
The weird part is it took 5 years for someone to finally release a compact consumer friendly version of Arri Trinity. Even tho it's basically a combination of gimbal and stabilizer. I bet in a few months other companies will start jumping on this new trend and you'll have some cool options for every price range on a market.
It actually is a trend that started almost one year ago: just search "fake trinity" in UA-cam and you will find a lot of videos. I guess the first one that started this is Momentum Productions
@@yezhacker I've seen plenty of DIY trinities, but that's the first commercial one.
@@smashexentertainment676 you're right. I was excited about this but watched other review of the Tilta float, and the guy sent it back. I'm gonna expect until more people can review it. If is not as everyone expects, guess I'm gonna build my own
The AR came out long before ARRIs version, so ARRI copied that first.
@@marctronixx The AR only has one axis of movement,,, it is nothing like the Trinity also the AR was ripped off from other peoples ideas as well.

Epic
Beyond the Pines - I think that was a shoulder rig :)
Literally none of those examples were shot on an Arri Trinity though...
Stedicam...
I got 40secs in and there were so many errors in what he was saying I had to see if someone else noticed. Besides your Stedicam point, Place Beyond The Pines is obviously handheld and Goodfellas is Scorcese. What is this guy on? 😅
sold me I’m buying this for my 6K Pro along with new RS3
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this but it was actually Scorsese.
Kinda weird that half the long epic movie sequences you mentioned in the beginning justifying the need for a stabilizer were actually shot handheld. Certainly the sequences referenced from Dark Knight and Place Beyond the Pines and Children of Men were handheld.
Also the tilta float costs about 4x as much as my phone...
What do you have? A flip phone 🧐
@@aramisnature nope, I have a high-mid range phone that's about one generation old... Man if the tilta float cost only 4x as much as a flip phone (~$100) id be all over it, but it costs more than the most expensive maxed out iphone on the market...
