    You’re not alone ER, more people are focused on the human condition and general existence over higher existence nowadays than ever before. There’s a very clear difference between atheists and people who are following life and just happen to not believe in god, the main difference in my perspective is that people like yourself don’t not believe in god, they’re open to it being a possibility but are focused on life instead of religion. It’s important for people like that to develop and maintain their own philosophy, as a good philosophy is the basis of a good person. Keep up the casual research, and an open mindset.

      @throw communists out of helicopters "The fact that no matter what you do, no matter what you accomplish, you who meet, who you love, or how content you feel- in the end you die. Your body is lifeless and rotting in the very ground you came from where you essentially end up right back at square one: the unavoidable void of nothingness from which you came from. There is no "meaning" to life. You simply live and you die and that's how it is. You can enrich it all you want with whatever you want, but you die and become nothing and that's how the world works." --> The Nihilist Anarchist I met this morning that actuall came in handy because I asked this.

I just wanted to tell you I strongly appreciate the effort you put into ASMR, to not make just a "tingle fest" or "stuck your mouth with random food" videos, you truly make it into your own art, be it with Margaret, Lovecraft role plays, or down to earth discussions like this one, I wish you the best.

    This is something I've been curious about for a while. I saw a dude reading a book on Twitch a few days back: he simply had the book on the table, flat, with a camera down, and read aloud, while then occasionally commenting and discussing with the few viewers. It was very fascinating. I think you could give this a try: allowing for a conversation between you and the viewers with philosophy I think would enhance the experience.

    When he mentioned self discovery it made me think about the different paths in this world. Like how many paths there are too take. When I went down my path I struggled with religion. I found it hard to believe in God. Yet after about 2 years of study and just I guess thinking I decided that I believe in God that I would put my faith and my life there. But I've also realized over time that some people do what I did and decide not to believe in God and I think that's interesting. I find it fascinating that each and every one of us can go down a set path or say screw it and make a new one. To anybody that reads this I want you too know that you can make your own path, yeah that sounds cringy but it's true. Every religion, belief, idea, law, everything was made by people deciding to make their own path. You can do that too. Well have a good day everybody

    We have similar beliefs and philosophies. I used to consider myself an agnostic. then i turned to spiritualism. but now I think I'm just an omnist because I agree with different pieces of information from different religions and spiritual practices from all over the world.
    I believe at the end of the day what really matters is morality and how you treat others...and most importantly...how you treat yourself.

    Great video and nice collection of books. Bertrand Russell was a mathematician first and foremost, but his writings are so accessible and a pleasure to read. I still haven’t read some of the other books you suggested. I have read Meditations recently and it’s one of my favorite books. I love his simplistic style. He has some great wisdom to offer. I have the Gregory Hays translation that my college professor recommended a while back and it’s a very enjoyable read. Keep exploring Rift, it’s nice to see people out there curious about our world and like to think about things and expand their way of thinking.

    Why is Antoninus Pius on the cover of the book instead of Marcus Aurelius?

    • @nicholasrogers4554

      Yellow Hat Marcus called himself a disciple of Antoninus. Probably had a similar bust of him in his home.
      That’s the only reason I can think of but it’s a stretch

    After tough times this past winter I had a mental break. Marcus Aurelius and Douglas Adams gave me a new lease on life. Enjoy the now, the universe is too absurd to let the little things get to you. Funny how Uncle E mentioned both. Life is what you make it, it has always been so.

    I hope you are doing well, Rift.

    Which is more powerful, a man with nothing to lose, or a man with one last thing to save?

    • @AmnesiaForever
      @AmnesiaForever 5 років тому

      @Sweet Sodia But a man with only one thing to save, will do anything to do it, since he has nothing else to lose he will face an army to save the last thing he has.
