I just love the background notices, the wind, the trees, distant traffic and the planes in the sky. so peaceful and totally soothing. it feels like I'm sitting in my back yard at night having some me time. love this video. 😌😵💃
At 3:20 you can hear his neighbors car lock and these people must have been confused if they saw him outside with a camera and mics or they would be like "oh god the crazy man is back out there again".
There's something about your presence that is so cozy and relaxing and welcoming. I love your videos like this. So casual and down to earth. Thanks for making me feel at home. Much love
I love this channel. I discovered this channel in 7th grade and that was the best year ever. Your videos helped me through the ups and downs. Thank you
I think you're the only other person I know of, who thinks so similarly to the way I do. It's so hard to have a discussion with people about this, without them thinking I'm unhappy or something or unrealistic or something! Which is so frustrating sometimes because I see them living through the perspective of all these manmade ways of thinking, they're convinced that they are the ones seeing reality! Its so cool to know I'm not the only one who embraces nature in as objective view as I can manage.
The type of people that like to think and come across as if they're "holier than thou" do it because deep down inside they feel insecure and inadequate, so I wouldn't let it bother you and maybe even cut them a little slack. They say that if you knew the motivations behind everyone's actions you would be able to forgive them all.
Thank you for this... I love the Red Book. My dad would sometimes leave his copy out on a bookstand and it would always catch my attention because it seemed so big and mysterious. One day he left it open and I read about Jung's encounter with Izdubar, more commonly known as Gilgamesh. It made me think about the East vs. the West, Nature vs. Technology, profound complimentary opposites like this. I began thinking about how polar opposites might not be so different, but in fact, interdependent notions that are actually two extreme ends of the same idea. Two poles of a planet. Because, to imply that one thing exists implies that its opposite exists as well. Like how light is needed to cast a shadow. I don't know if Jung had all the answers. His maxim, borrowed from the Pythic oracles, went something like "the one thing I know is that I know nothing". So probably not, but that's the thing, none of us do. We are all limitless when it comes to learning, including learning how to live with one another. Swallowing today's poisons leads to tomorrow's antidotes. I hope more people can learn to respect both what they are and what they are not. Anyways, it's nice to find Jung alive in unexpected places. Please keep making videos. There are many of us out here who understand, or try their best at any rate.
I have been listening to asmr for about 3 years now and have the most trouble falling asleep. In fact I have never fallen asleep to asmr am I the only one?
I've watched your videos for a while now and I've enjoyed your content. I'm at a time in my life where I really needed to hear this. Thank you very much for taking the time to make these videos.
YES!! Please do a behind the scenes video. I've always been insanely interested in seeing the places where you film, a tour showing all your cool props and trinkets. Also curious as to how you approach making your vids, like the creative process if you just turn on the camera and go spontaneous or if you have a script or what not. a video like this would make my life ER
"You shouldn't be ashamed to say/do whatever you want. Someone gets offended, that's on THEM. Every single human being has the right to live however they want, say whatever they want, do whatever they want. We created illogical rules that go against human nature" That's exactly what I thought about yesterday after watching the News on TV ( Germany ). I hope that at some point in human history everyone will understand this single, simple thing. Thanks for the awesome video Paul, loved it :) -Patrick
Thanks for sharing this Rift, I went on to research The Red Book and am on a Jung kick right now, the madness really speaks to me. Looking forward to more philosophical videos!
~Really enjoyed this video. Especially the ambiance of the nightime & the rythmic sounds of the wind blowing the trees leaves back & forth. I got so relaxed & sleepy from your voice & you reading from that big red book. I have to listen to this again because what you were saying about madness was interesting. I really liked this impromtu video...sometimes the best creations are the ones that are unplanned. :))
Loved how you have sense of respect as in not budding into peoples beliefs regardless if that's how you quite see it or not. Now a days a youtuber actually not interested in pointless drama or conflict over (insert belief or opinion here) To assert their own point of view over others is what I regard a maturity of mind and heart. We all have differing opinions and we hardly all have to agree always but what we need is to respect one another as fellow human being and part of that is having differing opinions without having to mentally oppress others with our own worldviews or beliefs. It's ok to voice an opinion, it's not so graceful to preach or get wound up, in someone's face about they needing to adopt what we happen to be selling. So kudos to a non militant human being respecting other's opinions while giving a peek into his own :) About your talk about Spirit, let me quote from Alan Wake ;) 'It's not a lake, it's an ocean'
Empheral Rift, I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the time and effort you put forth into helping others relax and sleep, I've been a subscriber for awhile now and look forward to your future work!
Hey rift, first off may I just say that you're theatrical rift works with intertwining works and characters is one big spectacular work of art and these lets talks that you do are very intriguing to me since my passion is psychology and I love to dissect how people think (if that doesn't sound too off) but anyways I'd love to give my take on this whole thing and have a conversation with you seeing as you seem to be an awesome guy but unfortunately UA-cam might not be the best place to converse, anyways you have a good one and I wish you and your family nothing but the best! Embrace your madness Rift! It's what makes us all unique after all.
For someone who thinks they're intelligent enough to "dissect" how someone thinks you don't seem very good at expressing your thoughts in words. It's not for you, buddy.
dude at like 2:46 when he started scratching his beard I was wearing headphones and I literally turned to the side because I thought the sound was coming from right next to me that's some solid quality binaural if I've ever seen it
Hey man, you're so dedicated and creative, what you do is great. I look forward to the bloodborne video! Keep doing what you're doing at your pace, don't push the creativity
If you're into other books about the human condition, I recommend B.F. Skinner's and Gordon Allport's works. They were heavyweights in mid-20th century psychology and research into the human mind, sort of stemming out and away from people like Jung, Freud, and others. Keep up the great content and thanks!
The rules are set for us by the same people who own the education system. If you don't want to be hypnotized to follow the rules you should avoid the schooling system and learn by yourself. Very calming to listen to you.
Okay so I really love your work. I was wondering if you would consider making a long video where you grind salt and other things with the pestle and mortar? Like your making a potion in a fantasy story? They're a huge help with falling asleep for me.
I enjoyed listening to your thoughts tonight Eph, very interesting point of view. I agreed with many things you mentioned, though I do have a lot of questions and would love to pick your brain! Haha. I think it would be fun
I'm amazed someone hasn't done an infomercial ASMR, tons of people fall asleep to those. If anyone could pull it off, I would say Rift is the man to do it.
Hey, Ephemeral Rift, I love your videos and I think your Discussions are the best. I'ts very intresting to listen to you and I wish me more of these videos. It's very lovely and I can really relax . Greetings from Germany , Sammy ❤
Good Video ER! I do agree that there are naturally no rules, besides the natural laws in places such as physics and chemistry of course. But the only rules we see today are not part of some divine hand, but merely of human creation. In nature, the only rules in life are met through natural selection.
there are tons of things in the universe that we know exist but cannot prove, i think you think that he's talking from a religious view but i don't think that's the case. this universe is so big it's incomprehensible, and its expanding. life comes and it dies, and the universe moves on. saying what he said seems kind of unfair if a noble knight dies for a good causes while a dude has a drug overdose as a teen. but if you zoom out of the earth and then the solar system and so on it doesn't really matter because life has lived out its plan, or something. i really don't know what i'm trying to describe but in a way it makes sense to me.
Hey Uncle E. I don't comment often but I had to tell you that I really enjoyed this talk. If you haven't heard of or listened to Alan Watts I think you would really enjoy him.
I'm reminded of what (Captain) Jack Sparrow said in the first movie. "The only rules that matter are these: What a man *can* do, and what he *can't* do."
I have always had some of the same views of the world, though. I was raised this way, so it seems impossible for me to deny that there is a God. But sometimes, I feel it would almost be better if there wasn't. If I didn't believe that there are a set of rules laid out by God for the human race, I would agree with you wholeheartedly, Rift.
+DeathRules Same for me. I love his videos but I don't really agree with a lot of things he says in the more "philosophical" discussions. It is still fascinating to learn what people with different worldviews believe.
I have seasonal anxities or seasonal depression I can't remember the the exact term for it And mine is tied to winter as you can guess its winter were I am so the summer breeze and just overall summer feeling of this video really helped me through the winter nights
45:00 - I disagree. man is made in G-d's image and is extraordinarily special. He granted us domain over all the other animals. I don't mean to sound like some kind of biblical robot, but i do believe that.
I think what he (Jung) means by madness is not that "there are no rules in nature", nature is completely rational (not from a human perspective) as there are clear rules it follows. The real madness is that humans think there are any values assinged to life; as you said "government was made up by us." That's the true madness: our dellusional view of values: pain, pleasure, importance; a metaphorical matrix made up of our feelings, which have no value in nature. Furthermore what he means by "embracing our madness" is not that humans have the natural right to "do whatever they want", but (as deducable from what I said before) that us having feelings, thus having our own values opposed to nature, is a good thing, because we don't live in the senseless dictatorship of natural law. This does not mean we should not do what we want, he just doesn't adress that in this part of the book (the way I see it).
life is as conflicting as all forms of this universe in life we find two paths to follow the These would be "The Inner" and "Outer path" the Inner path is all things of human emotion, spiritual, religion and Inner peace while the Outer path represents all things of the Physical realm so were the teachings of "Mijsck and so he stated "live life as a way of happiness for life is a gift of the heavens- for happiness is the only truth that all can find" that is what i believe
Brah, there were spiders and shit running around that table. This man is so calm and collected. I’d be like nope, fuk this. I’m taking my candle and going nside now
This is one of my favorite channels on UA-cam! Your vids are the best Uncle E!
I am not sure how many times I am going to have to watch this to get through it all - what I do know is that I will love trying!

Ahhhh the interconnected asmr community makes me happy. Nice seeing you here mate.
+SavageShades lol yeah it's a big happy family of chill people.
Yo bro you’ve really Been around for a while
I just love the background notices, the wind, the trees, distant traffic and the planes in the sky. so peaceful and totally soothing. it feels like I'm sitting in my back yard at night having some me time. love this video. 😌😵💃

This type of video is super relaxing because background noise adds a nice ambient sound
I love this channel. I discovered this channel in 7th grade and that was the best year ever. Your videos helped me through the ups and downs. Thank you
extremely talented, i absolutely love this channel! i honestly hope you never stop making videos.
Was anybody else starring at the bug on the table after he said the candle was suppose to keep them away...
meee! how is he okay with that, how do you not notice that big bug
Supposed*
+Bizmo Baylor I think it was meant to be like that - talking about madness, you know ;)
Yep
Citronella does nothing, NOTHING I TELL YOU!!!!!!
Except smell awful!!!!
So now you are in bugs AND a stench.
..... IT DOES NOTHING!!!!
Favorite style of video. I love contemplating life while listening to asmr. its humbling and relaxing at the same time. Great work Rift :)

Thank you Rift for making me Feel relaxed and calm, this time when exams and stuff is coming up, and also thanks because you are who you are.
That was such a nice & calming video. The wind, your voice... Kinda cozy. Thank you! :)

First video I didn't have to crank the audio up on and still a wonderfully relaxing video. Great work as always, Rift.

This video is your best, the background noise is really really good. Highly UnderRated video of yours
After having some intense migraines for the past day or so, I definitely needed this. Thanks! :D
I hate migraines
So does my head right about now. My brain feels like it has a heartbeat :P
+Calypse did you ever had problems with your eyes, when you had your migraine? :)
I get migraines a lot but you know, I never thought to use ASMR for them. Do you find them really helpful? Or just mildly relaxing?
Pro-Tip: Guns are extremely helpful for migraines they relieve the pain nice and quick.
I'm really looking forward watching this video. I'm currently studying psychology and I'm loving it!
Thanks Rift!

Yes, madness is the way we go. Doesn’t matter if people can’t understand you, you just go and explore the mind and become an artist, an explorer.
Thanks for sharing this Rift, I went on to research The Red Book and am on a Jung kick right now, the madness really speaks to me. Looking forward to more philosophical videos!

I was watching this, getting more relaxed, and then it starts raining outside so it's a double whammy of relaxation.
no one does asmr like this man, great videos please keep on working

Wonderful video, as usual :) I really love the sound of the wind and what sounds like the leaves of the trees shaking
Empheral Rift, I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the time and effort you put forth into helping others relax and sleep, I've been a subscriber for awhile now and look forward to your future work!

That bucket gave me so many tingles I almost sneezed.
the bit when you said "that's nature" and a strong gust of wind came out of nowhere that was cool :)
Hah, that spider at the very beginning sure set the mood.
loving this video!! uncle e you should totally do an asmr "draw your life" type of thing!!!
Probably my favorite ER video to date
Funny, how the occasional stronger wind breeze noises actually make me almost shiver and thinking I really want to put on another jacket. 😂
99.9% yes. loving the wind so peaceful. thanks for this.
dude at like 2:46 when he started scratching his beard I was wearing headphones and I literally turned to the side because I thought the sound was coming from right next to me that's some solid quality binaural if I've ever seen it
I'm so glad those are microphones you're wearing. I thought your hearing condition was getting worse and you were wearing hearing aids.
i heard hearing hiv's are the future

I have insomnia and your videos help me tremendously. Thank you so much.
Hey man, you're so dedicated and creative, what you do is great. I look forward to the bloodborne video! Keep doing what you're doing at your pace, don't push the creativity

I'm amazed someone hasn't done an infomercial ASMR, tons of people fall asleep to those. If anyone could pull it off, I would say Rift is the man to do it.
Hey, Ephemeral Rift, I love your videos and I think your Discussions are the best. I'ts very intresting to listen to you

Greetings from Germany ,
Sammy ❤
could you make such a video but then talk about your life and how you were raised etc (dont have to go personal if you dont want to :D )
This idea is purely personal... asking about how they were raised and about their childhood is pretty personal...
i think hes doen that
+PoPe do you want to fight ?
Matthew McDowall Sure why not, 1v1 clash royale
TheSummerOfGeorge1 I actually took this picture whilst taking a satisfying dump.
Good Video ER!
I do agree that there are naturally no rules, besides the natural laws in places such as physics and chemistry of course. But the only rules we see today are not part of some divine hand, but merely of human creation. In nature, the only rules in life are met through natural selection.
i still have no clue why asmr exists but this guy is so weird it makes it entertaining XD
Just when I was wondering about you uploading another Video regarding Carl Jung you do. I suppose everything does happen for a reason :).
I really enjoyed this!:)
Awesome video Rift!
23:05 here this is great timing, Thank you!
E.R. discussing philosophy? Always excited.
Life has a plan for all of us. No matter how you believe in the world around you, some things are destined to happen.
Can you prove it?
how the hell would he be able to prove that lol
+ArcanineStripes exactly
there are tons of things in the universe that we know exist but cannot prove, i think you think that he's talking from a religious view but i don't think that's the case. this universe is so big it's incomprehensible, and its expanding. life comes and it dies, and the universe moves on. saying what he said seems kind of unfair if a noble knight dies for a good causes while a dude has a drug overdose as a teen. but if you zoom out of the earth and then the solar system and so on it doesn't really matter because life has lived out its plan, or something. i really don't know what i'm trying to describe but in a way it makes sense to me.
+ArcanineStripes alright let me put it another way, does he have any evidence?
This dood always keeps me entertained & curios about him
I miss having a garden
Great video and the singers you were thinking of were David Bowie and Prince.
Hey uncle E, great video !
Which philosophical books would u recommend to somone like me, who never read a book this direction?
Great Vid, yeah rift u mention you want to reach ppl & I think u have, enjoyed the Vid
BIC lighters are our lord and savior, lighter of lights, when the night is dark and full of terrors.
Nice reference
Hey Uncle E. I don't comment often but I had to tell you that I really enjoyed this talk. If you haven't heard of or listened to Alan Watts I think you would really enjoy him.
Totally agree. Rift would love Alan Watts and zen teachings in general.
I'm reminded of what (Captain) Jack Sparrow said in the first movie. "The only rules that matter are these: What a man *can* do, and what he *can't* do."
A sound soul lives within a sound mind, and a sound body.
Soul eater?
damn, i came here for ASMR, not an existential crisis!
I wasn't even concerned about the book. I can just here him ramble with he wilderness in the background and I'll be straight.
for some reason when you lit that candle in the bucket i imagined you going "just uhh..." *turns on lighter* FWOOSHHHHH *Giant pillar of fire*
Also look up "Madness and Civilization" by Michel Foucault because that seems right up your alley
Loved it.
first like and comment the video came out 30 seconds ago rift tour awsome
rift you're awsome
Wonderful video, friend.
Just before bed 😍 hello tingles....
I am religious, so I can't agree with everything you're saying rift. But I still loved the video, and enjoy hearing your thoughts and ideas.
+DeathRules Yeah, that Allah seems pretty alright.
+DeathRules Same for me. I love his videos but I don't really agree with a lot of things he says in the more "philosophical" discussions. It is still fascinating to learn what people with different worldviews believe.
+DeathRules What religion in particular do you believe, if you don't mind me asking?
+Luke Puffer I agree
I have seasonal anxities or seasonal depression I can't remember the the exact term for it And mine is tied to winter as you can guess its winter were I am so the summer breeze and just overall summer feeling of this video really helped me through the winter nights

i find that sentiment to be less and less clever because you're not going beyond your 5 senses.
Everyone has a religious opinion. Respect your own and dont start fights with someone that apposes that view
And if you have to fight do not do it in comment sections, its the cancer of youtube
+aberranT damn, well said
Zach Forrester we can create because of evolution? yet no other creature can do music or paintings. so i'm right, we're special.
Uncle E Your the BEST
58th like and 25th comment 19 minutes, it was uploaded. I deserve a medal please!

Interesting stuff, food for thought.

There are rules to life: the ones that you set for yourself.
Are you on vacation or something cuz it's new video everyday? What have we done to deserve such blessing?
spiderrrrr....
buggsssss
madness
i...
totally love it :,)
Shouldn't the last word in the description be "effect" instead of "affect"?
This does not mean we should not do what we want, he just doesn't adress that in this part of the book (the way I see it).
life is as conflicting as all forms of this universe
in life we find two paths to follow the These would be
"The Inner" and "Outer path"
the Inner path is all things of human emotion, spiritual, religion and Inner peace
while the Outer path represents all things of the Physical realm
so were the teachings of "Mijsck and so he stated
"live life as a way of happiness for life is a gift of the heavens- for happiness is the only truth that all can find"
that is what i believe

Papa rift, you ever consider doing bushcraft Asmr? In my opinion, you'd make a fine candidate for such.
guys put on the website "rainy mood" and it will give this a better expierience
intelligent yet relaxing. only rifty can pull this off
