Thank you, Maddy for doing my pick! This was our wedding song and it is a beautiful one. And believe it or not it is on the same 1969 album as Whole Lotta love! So even when they were young, they were capable of love songs besides just the lust lol! Glad you enjoyed it!

This was also myself and my wife’s first dance song at our wedding. When I proposed the idea she cried because of the words. A couple of years ago I got the words printed on a poster in the shape of a love heart and got it framed and gave it to my wife as a Christmas present. It hangs above our main sofa in our sitting room.

John Paul Jones, aka JPJ, is one of the great bassists of the rock'n'roll, or any, era, as well as a great keyboardist, arranger, mandolin player. Love this song, dedicated to Robert's wife, Maureen, from their 2nd album.
    Merci, Mlle. Maddy

I second that! 👍It was because of JPJ that I picked up and learned how to play the bass, after having played various styles and types of guitar, the flute and piano for many years.
The song that pushed me over the edge was "Rambling On" 🎶👌

This is very early Zeppelin. 1969. Second album. Recorded on the run, catching whatever studio time they could manage between live shows.
The main thing you're beginning to notice is that there is basically no musical genre in which they don't excel. They do it all, exceedingly well. They're the most musically versatile "major" band we've ever seen.

Takes me back to my first year of college and my first college girlfriend. I knew of Zeppelin and had heard some of their songs. I had never heard this song before, she 'dedicated' it to me on a mixtape(yes, I am that old). The relationship may not have lasted but she did turn me into a huge Zeppelin fan. I went out and bought all 4 of their first albums(cassette tapes) then wore them out in my Pioneer Supertuner, in my car.

Plant & his wife married on November 9,1968, she was a nurse & had a more study job, she supported financially & his dream. He wrote this to thank her for supporting him, he did work in her fathers company, & playing gigs. He had a girlfriend when he was younger, she made him choose her or his career, thankfully he choose his career. He sings about that in Ten Years Gone, another beautiful song he wrote. I’d say that’s why Maureen sporting him, meant so much to him. Thank you for your reaction.

Led Zeppelin have always been a diverse band musically... and John Paul Jones (bass/keyboards) was the only classically trained member of the band - he was their arranger and 'secret weapon' ... He is a multi-instrumentalist; he plays guitar, mandolin and other instruments but he loved the bass. Guitarist Jimmy Page, drummer John Bonham and vocalist Robert Plant were never schooled in music.
Zeppelin's last studio album 'In through the out door' in 1979 was composed mostly by John Paul Jones, which is why there were more keyboards on it... The song 'All my love' was very poppy and sad, cos Robert Plant wrote it for his late son Karac Plant, who died unexpectedly in 1977 at age 5 while he was on tour.
'Thank you' was an early Led Zeppelin song in 1969 from their 2nd album 'Led Zeppelin II'... they didn't just want to be a 'heavy rock' band and crafted subtle, intricate tracks like 'The Rain song'... "Since I've been loving you"... 'Tangerine'... 'Ten years gone'... etc.
Their 3rd album 'Led Zeppelin III' in 1970 was mostly an acoustic record w/ country/ rockabilly influences... Songs like - 'Friends' ... 'Gallows pole' ... 'Out on the tiles'... etc.
Yes, Zeppelin's biggest songs were heavier tracks like "Whole lotta love" ... 'Stairway to Heaven'... 'Black Dog' ... "Nobody's fault but mine" ... 'Heartbreaker' ... 'Good times bad times'... etc. but there were plenty of slow/ love songs as well... 'Going to California' ... "That's the way" ... 'Your time is gonna come' ... 'Hey, hey, what can I do'... etc.
