    Rudy is such a great interview. This is so cool. Just two guys talking music and the guys who make it.

    Really nice guy is Rudy Sarzo. Met him a few times, always smiling and courteous to fans wanting an autograph

    Rudy Sarzo is like the Robert Horry of bass players. He always joined the right band at the right time, just as they were hitting it big. Ozzy > Quiet Riot > Whitesnake

      Rudy was also a great bass player and made any band he played with better. I had a chance to meet him at the NAMM Show in New Orleans in 1984 (maybe 83) when he was with Quiet Riot. He was great, He was nice and very sharing of technique. I spent the whole show basically hanging out with him. One thing about him is he has beautiful hands with long skinny fingers. The reason he played in such a variety of good bands was he was also ego-less in an industry full of egomaniacs.

      Yeah, unless you're writing lots of songs then leave your ego at the door.

    I really could listen to Rudy talk all day he’s my favorite bass player. He’s actually one of the few bass players I know.(not personally) I wish I did know him personally.

      Zach H I know Rudy personally. Rudy is a super down to earth kind of guy! I met him in 1992 in Miami actually. I was surprised how short he was when I met him. I think that’s why he’s sitting here. I know Norm as well and he is tall.

    Magic interview. My 1st gig was QR Metal Health in Cardiff, Rudy did his upside down bass solo and I thought how the F does he do that, so I learnt to play guitar and bass to my best ability.
    Watching here ua-cam.com/video/gf1tQxNHs_g/v-deo.html 35 years later the question is exactly the same.
    A great musician.

    I'd pay him 5 bucks to do the bass intro to Believer. Not like he would even need 500.

    Question since NO ONE wants to answer me on Twitter and Facebook and the question is - What's the difference between a regular bass and a Jazz bass?

    • @fearclownz
      @fearclownz 10 років тому +1

      Jazz bass necks are more narrow, especially at the top of the neck near the headstock. There are typically two narrow longer pickups on the body.

    • @ravenshadow1969
      @ravenshadow1969 10 років тому +1

      fearclownz- That's it? That's the only difference? Is there a different sound to it like some people say?

      You should head out to the music store and see the difference between a Fender Precision and Jazz.

    I think it was kinda shitty Norm asked him about Randy Rhoads. Don't get me wrong. I think Randy Rhoads was awesome but this clip was supposed to be about Rudy.

    • @ERICF66
      @ERICF66 6 років тому +4

      Garegh62 wrong. You don’t get asked to join so many high profile bands by being a poser! Ozzy, Whitesnake, Dio had their choice of bassists and they chose Rudy because he is professional and gets the job done! No pose there!

    So often when you hear about pro musicians you hear about a lot of time on stage; 5 nights a week for 3 years or the double shifts on weekends(9 to 1 and 2 to 6). That is how you get in the zone and stay there. Play with people as much as possible, not just in your room.

    I was fortunate enough to hang out with Rudy and jam with him in Hollywood in 09'. Such a nice guy, and so very humble. We also did an allstar jam show at the Whisky a go go, with Ace Frehely and many others. Hes one of my musical fav people that is so down to earth and approachable. Hi Rudy, Mj

    Norm asks about Randy Rhoads. Rudy wrote a great book about him, "Off The Rails" which really makes you feel like you understand Randy and pivotal moments in his life.
    5:42 Rudy is a super-sweet guy and an accomplished player. Liked what he played there!

      That's funny, we might of met before. I'm his nephew and helped him put that place together. He open another one in the Ocala area 10 years ago, we ran it awhile then he just retired for the 10th time. I remember going to the Tampa studio as a kid, I heard alot of stories about that one. You guys had a good time.lol
