They have instruments @ all price ranges. Dont expect to get a Ferrari when you budget for a Geo. Iv found guitars @ Norms for $150 that played, sounded, & felt better than most guitars Iv ever played that costed more than $2000.
@@BrentMiller818 "Iv found guitars @ Norms for $150 that played, sounded, & felt better than most guitars Iv ever played that costed more than $2000." LOL - that statement is complete bullshit.
I've decided to put Norman's Rare Guitars on my bucket list to visit, and then I realized I lived 30 mins away from it. Went in today, holy crap, it is hands down the greatest guitar store I've ever been to. Their inventory is just ridiculous. Definitely going back to buy a guitar I fell in love with.
The original cathedral was Manny's on 48th in NYC. Anyone who was ever there when it was Manny's knows what I'm talking about. The legends who walked through that door....just pretty much everybody who wrote the soundtrack to life shopped there. The old, faded autographs on the wall were the equivalent of modern day frescoes. Chuck Berry, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, David Gilmour, Clapton, Page, Plant, Johnny Cash, CSNY, John, Paul, George and Ringo, Dylan, and on and on. Hundreds of them from every era. The legends in whose shadows we dwell. You felt blessed just to walk through the same door.
yea I've been to Normans before and you know a shop is in outer space on there prices when even the celebrities say they can't hardly even afford to walk in the place thank god for the pawn shops and even guitar center for the more realistic back down to earth prices for used gear
Did you really just compared guitar center and pawn shops to this place? O_o Speaking of total misunderstanding. They don't trade guitars...they don't trade used guitars. They trade collectors pieces. Surely somebody might end up playing what they buy there, but mostly nobody will. Rich collectors go there to expand their...collection :D
Exactly Rich collectors so it's not a store for regular folks so Yes i am comparing guitar center and pawn shops to these guys because they are rediculous at least 75% of the gear and guitars are not worth what they are asking for them
I used to sell at Rosebowl swapmeet in the mid 90's I had early 1950's Tweed Fender Champ amp Dead mint (People thought it was a reissue) probably worth $4k & a beautiful 1960's Guild Starfire worth about $2k then Good ole norm said all it's worth is $700 for both That's good ole honest Norm!!!
Last time I was in Norms, the one guitar that really caught my eye was a 1960's Gibson "Barney Kessel" hollow-body double-cutaway jazz guitar. Over $6000+ - of course. I guess I could've traded my car for it. Wish I had less expensive taste in guitars.
3:38 McLovin! So, it's true - he is becoming an Irish R&B singer and artist! Now you need Chris to be in at the same time as Seth Rogan and Bill Hader and then you've got the perfect trio!
Guys, I would love to pass by at your place. I would pay you 20 bucks just to get in and watch your stuff. If you would give me the honor of playing two or three of your guitars, I would for sure mentioned it in my memoirs. And tell it to my grandchildren. And make a picture of myself in front of my favourite piece if luthier art. And put it as a big poster in a frame over my fireplace. And then drink an old whisky in my armchair in front of it. And then cry, because I do not have the 10 to 500 grand to buy anything there.
Jealous??? Ha ha This man embarrasses me. He licks the arses of the 'famous' and wouldn't fart on the regular guy which will be 99.9% of their customers. Same goes to the rest of the staff. I've seen it first hand
Mind blown* I have an American BC Rich bich solid bird's-eye maple. neck through was built 4 some guy in some band called Chicago ! I always stop at the pawn shops Wherever I Go. Incredible story you have I would love to stop in sometime ♡ ROCK ON BROTHER
In Sydney, we have Jackson's Rare Guitars. It is daunting to even knock on the door there, but I did it a couple of times. Would love to knock on your door one day. I won't stay long, I promise.
I will say it again ! It bears repeating,,, Norm and Norm’s RARE Guitars are American Icons!!! Thank you Norm for raising and training great kids,, like Marc Agnesi !!! Building great players and business people like Agnesi makes you the corner stone of the industry!!!!
Trever Sevc why would he come to this place if he has his own guitar shop in Oakland in the first place? I heard Broken Guitars (his shop) has a perfect customer service. According to the reviews on Yelp, the staff would encourage anyone to grab the guitar they want and try it out without intimidating them. In fact, if a player has flaws, they would even help him/her to improve.
They obviously consent to help promote the place. Probably gives them a little discount or something. When famous people ride the bus you’re driving feel free to see if they’ll take a selfie.
i wonder how many famous people walk in there and say to themselves "oh shit, there's the fucking camera...again."..or how many avoid it for just that reason. Some probably love it 'cause its another chance to stroke their egos but im sure some must say "c'mon guys gimme a break" and dont wanna be filmed. seems like the videos are more about who comes in the store than the products they sell. Not the only place to buy a nice guitar, without the stars its really not that special. ...
Chis Isack... he is always dressed nice. I saw him in 19 at a ELO concert in Nashville the dude had a dog with his sport coat on it was one of those dogs that looks like it should be on the dog food can. It was kinda odd
You can see the look on most of the musicians faces that says,"Now I remember why I never come into places like this". You'd think a guy that's dealt with rock stars for 40+ years would know how to act around them. It honestly comes off as desperate and sad. I'm not trying to be a hater, but for God's sake, we get it, famous people shop at your store. An approach like George Gruhn has is much more customer friendly. He lets his merchandise do the talking, and word of mouth. Yeas Gruhn's has faults as well, but nobody is up in the customers face with a camera.
Brad Carroll I waited on Kevin Cronin at the restaurant I work at, and didn't tell my coworkers until after he and his son had left. after I told them they all dashed out to the dining room asking where he was sitting and falling all over the place. when they asked why I didn't tell them until after he left, I said "because I knew you guys would do this. this right here." There's no reason to embarrass people.
RIP to all the legends passed on in this video
"Who shops at Norms?" People with much more money than I ever will.

MrCorvusC do you even know what punctuation is?
Ebay and the likes brought reality to guitar prices . Thank God .
eBay, offerup, and to a lesser degree, Craigslist are my go to places for great deals on used musical instruments! ☝️🥴👍🎷🎸🎻🥁🔊🎶🎵
I feel lonely. I'm not Norm's buddy! Everyone else is! LOL

Love that Tom Petty was the first in this video, and damn I was happy to see Taylor Hawkins in there, what an awesome guy.
I was waiting to see Frank Stalllone..
0:40 -> who is this guy? thanks
so many good buddies he has ... i don't think he knows most of them
I was more impressed by Guy Pierce than anyone else.
I literally wouldnt even look twice if I saw joe bonamassa or adam levine in a guitar shop neither of them have created anything original

+Tye Cook And yet stars shop there. Must be doing something right.
+I'm Dvoraak I mean it's either Norms or Guitar Center, and one is guaranteed to have high quality merch and vintage classics.
Let's get a show on tv please so we can see guitars instead of coins and stamps etc on other shows. Pleeeaaasssseeee.
Chis Isack... he is always dressed nice. I saw him in 19 at a ELO concert in Nashville the dude had a dog with his sport coat on it was one of those dogs that looks like it should be on the dog food can. It was kinda odd
Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit is one thing but I mean McLovin!! c'mon man

I Love LA!
One day I will visit
McLovin!!
McLovin!
Will norm look at other guitars and tell you what you have wether it’s worth something or just a good ol camp fire guitar?
