Rudy = Humble while also being a legend.
Perfect description
Every time Rudy talks theory & says “you know” I’m imagining Nikki thinking “no I don’t know”... At least that’s what I’m thinking.
Lol. I can see that Nikki is a little out of his element when Rudy starts to get technical.
Yea, but he's also still a big fan of music & self- admittedly just a big Kid, like he's in awe of Rudy being there & he's taking it all in. I get it, I can talk All Day about music, bands, etc.., but if ya start talking notes & theory you'll lose me, Rudy's very well trained in everything musically, Nikki didn't know a bass from a guitar but stuck with it while ppl around him prob thought he was silly & laughed at him, & look where he is now. Stick to ur guns, right. O how cliche was that 😆
Right. Depending on who Nikki is talking too is how he feels about the importance of reading and music theory.
I do believe that Nikki has improved over his career and I do think he is trying to learn the tools of his trade.

Lol, so true!
My dad worked with Rudy back in the Ozzy days and has always said what a really great guy Rudy is. He toured the the world with Rudy and said he never, ever give it the big I AM! Its not often my dad says this about people but he says Rudy is the most genuine, kind , generous and just all round cool guy. And I remember him at Shepperton studios, in rehearsals for Ozzy, and he played with me and my younger brother. I was 9 - 10yrs old! I played his bass through the PA and I thought I was the coolest!! he took the time to show me what to do. I also played with Randy and got to play Les Paul through the PA. He showed me the A chord. I wish I could have known at the time just how lucky I was.
Wow you were lucky to hang out with both Rudy and Randy. I've always felt like Rudy was a genuinely good person.
I had the pleasure to meet rudy back almost ten years ago in NYC.such a wholesome guy from the era of hard sex and hot drugs you wouldnt expect it
You are so fucking lucky
Awesome Leon
Can he play slipknot.
I love seeing someone who is as accomplished as Rudy compliment someone like Sixx on his tone and playing. Totally puts the Nikki haters in place. He fucking rocks.
Such a huge Rudy fan. I mean he was in my favorite bands as a kid...Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Whitensake.
Me to lol!!
me too. And he was maybe the sexiest man on the 80's
Me too
Me too!! Well it was Quiet Riot Twisted Sister and Def Leppard
Dio
I know a lot of folks don't care for Nikli Sixx as a bassist but i really like his style he bangs on the root notes then switches to doubling the guitar and even throws in some really cool lead fills when it's called for. Sometimes Nikki uses counter melodies such as in Dro Feel good which inthought was genius for the song. Studying Motley Crue and learning a handful of the basslines (in their entirety) really helped escalate my playing. So thanks for that. Rudy Sarzo is a complete savant as bassist. He's absolutely killing it with todays incarnation of Quiet Riot. Rudy IMHO is carrying the band name and legacy right now. Rest in Peace to arguably the greatest 1980s Rock N Roll drummer Frankie. I'm really bletss to have seen the man himself play drums in his band Quiet Riot in 2019. I'll never forget it. Amazing singer that year as well I'm surprised he didn't stay. He's the greatest Quiet Riot singer had by far next to of course their orginal vocalist RIP as well to Kevin.
I love Rudy Sarzo, i. Became a huge fan when i heard Speak of the Devil. The bass playing is so good and he and Tommy Aldridge play so well together
Holy Crap... Rudy Sarzo !
one of my favourite bassists
He is awesome!
Geezer Butler would be awesome on this show.
I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to to meet and have many conversations with both of these rock giants when my band was an opening act for Rudy in QR, and
Nikki with Crue, and they were every bit the down to earth guys that they appear in this clip. Which only made me respect them that much more.
Ya sure ya did. I opened for KISS too!
Rudy is a beast! Very underrated in many ways. He has played with some of the greats in music history and helped them achieve that greatness. Not to mention he is very down to earth and shows great appreciation for the music and his fans. Met him once with Whitesnake in their heyday and he was more than gracious. I have spoken to him via Facebook a few times and he seems to be a very good person. Thanks Nikki!
Rudy is genuinely a good dude. I ran into him in a record store back in the late 80's, and his demeanor was just like this vid. He is so cool and thoughtful with everybody. He never let fame get to his head.
The great Rudy Sarzo, this is the first time I've actually ever heard him speak. Very cool dude.
Check him out on Dean Del Rey's podcast. Cool guy from Cuba; musical family, tons of knowledge.
his interview on Rick Beato's channel is excellent.
Yes on the Church of What's Happening with Joey Diaz ...
I beg you, bring Mick Mars, please!
Rudy Sarzo - living RnR history
yup
Sávio Freire
Legend! 🖒
It would be great to see John Sykes on the show.
I could listen to these two talk all day! So many stories and experience between them. Heavy Metal royalty.
Rudy Sarzo was/is one of the most under rated people in music. Loved him and loved his funky dance moves back in the day.
So how is it that 2 rock/bass gods sound so normal and accommodating to the lay person ? These Favorite Riff series are incredible !!! I am not a musician but I can't get enough of these conversations. With all due respect to Nikki and his guests they sound almost "nerdy/geeky" when they discuss music with each other which is so removed from seeing them on stage. Bravo, well done.
Nikki sixx is a joke of a bass player
I can’t imagine Nikki as anything but sober anymore, it’s so wonderful how he’s embraced his sobriety; dude is uber talented
Gaurd Luther12 said like a true “nobody”
Nikki Sixx really sucks. Seriously. I am all about "it's only rock and roll" and am a huge fan of straight ahead rock. But Nikki Sixx is probably the worst bassist since Sid Vicious, honestly. He rips everyone off with his songwriting as well. He is what is truly described as a person who became famous as a musician but cannot begin to fathom how to play the instrument.
MrJoeythebabykangaro you are a fucking ignorant idiot.
nonsense.
why are you here then?
I got to see both Whitesnake and Motley on that tour Rudy mentioned. The Day On The Green show at the Oakland Coliseum. October 10, 1987 (with Jetboy and Poison opening). Whitesnake was on fire! I wasn’t a big fan of theirs but that particular lineup of musicians was top notch and they ripped! I was super impressed! Those were the days!!👍🎸🎤🥁
ERIC F I was at that show also. 🤘🏻
How did I miss that Day on the Green!!! That would have been killer. I went to Day on the Green 85 with Wham! headlining 😳
I was never a big fan of Bass players. More of the singer and Lead guitar players . NOW I AM !! MUCH RESPECT TO THE BOTH OF YOU.
NIKKI your doing a great job! Everyone feels Comfortable around you. Your a very down to EARTH dude. Love this stuff. Very cool..
Did you watch the Zakk Wilde episode? That guy would not stop playing his guitar, it drive me nuts!
First saw Rudy on the Diary of a Madman tour and that did it for me. Been playing bass now for 39 years.
Nikki you're a bass geek and I think it would be very interesting to see a show where you interview yourself and show off some of the old and interesting gear that you've collected over the years. You do a very good job too.
We love the new Spector Rudy Sarzo Signature bass, great instrument.
I love listening to people that know their stuff. What ever the subject. Just like Rudy here.
Would love to see John Sykes on your show !
🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Summer of 1984...My two favorite L.A. Metal bands... QUIET RIOT & MÖTLEY CRÜE (AH & W.A.S.P.)
P.S.When I was a teenager child...
Love hearing pros talk specs for instruments. Very cool.
Ive met Rudy a couple times and he is one of the nicest guys out there. He has seen it all and played for damn near everybody. Great player, get his book " Off the Rails " best book EVER !
I love Rudy Sarzo. He's just cool.
@rudysarzo is a friend and mentor to SO many... myself included
Awesome 👍 I just got a Bass two days ago, and Mr SarZo iZ quickly becoming one of my favorite Bass playerZ! HiZ work with OZZy and Whitesnake. 🎲🎸
Rudy is one of the most down to earth musicians going. He is also one of the greatest bass players to ever walk the planet.
Most underrated man in rock history played with Quiet Riot Ozzy Whitesnake and Blue Oyster Cult
Frank Castle
and with Ronnie James Dio too !
Saw him with the guess who last year and he was beyond excellent.
@Krushing Pussy that is mostly true. I think that the only albums that he has ever played on not counting live albums are Quiet Riot's Condition Critical and Whitesnake's Slip Of The Tongue. He has had a great career and toured with many amazing bands. Definitely the bass player for hire for sure.
Fantastic post. Brilliant how these two legends are just sitting down talking so broad about all things music.
Love listening you guys talk shop
Nikki is an Amazing interviewer!! wow, just discovered this and wish it would of went on for hours. My 2 of 3 favorite Bass players in the world. I hope u have or i can find Sheehan on here. So impressed with Both but Blown away with Nikki and the ooze of a great piece. His grandma would be proud for sure.
Really cool stuff, with Rudy. Miss you in Dallas, TX Nikki Sixx.
Ahh... Rudy, my fav. since the 80s. He left a strong impression on me with his style and delivery/fist pounding on the bass body for punctuation and stage style
Rudy can really talk music theory. I’m impressed….
I like him even more now.
Really like this series. Nikki seems like such a sincere and nice bloke, something quite pleasant and soothing not to mention informative and outright interesting about the way these conversations are taking place.
I know that feeling when your in the same room as the drummer and just know when he's going to throw a fill in. Love it
i love this show! Please keep em coming!!
Get Vivian Campbell on here. It would be awesome if he brought his Anderson Guitars! I helped make those. He’s a super nice guy. Incredible player and very humble too.
Two of my favorite bass players!!! Hell yeah!!!
Thank you for having my hero Rudy Sardo :) I love Quiet Riot and RIP Frankie Banali :(
My favorite UA-cam Channel...watch this all day!
I love Rudy .. he's such a cool person
Brilliant series!! Many thanks!
Nikki has a great knack for getting his guests to go below the surface of the topic and this provides real insight into both the guest and the industry. Could you please get Dennis Dunaway on your show? I don't think any bass player has better melodic feel.
So beautiful... 2 of the greatest and they´re still humble.. wow
What a great segment, wow!
Two great guys, such positive energy .. it's a treat to be a fly on the wall for this conversation :)
These guys picked hairdo's that worked for them 35 years ago, and stuck with them
No one had hair like SIXX back in the 80s lol.
Tracy Gun'z Sixx got his hair style from Johnny Thunders
Exactly. It starts to look a bit ridiculous as you age.
@@rodrigosoares7126 naw they look sick
lmao
Nikki, your show rocks! I watch all the episodes. Great man!
Rudy is such a cool guy I have spoken to him a few times he’s always so cool
Finally a good show for musicians!! I literally learned a lot from these, Particularly the theory part and what makes a good song! kEEP THEM COMING!
This Made Me feel so motivated for Playing!
Rudy is a REAL LEGEND!
Cool video. A couple of corrections: the first Fender basses were Precisions with single coil pickups, not hum buckers; Leo Fender played the saxophone.
I always enjoyed Rudy's music and it's really cool to see his personality is just as awesome
The 41 people who disliked are clueless. They literally have no idea what they disliked.
Much respect for Rudy
Loved the Whitesnake days
I still jam crying in the rain fairly regularly it rips
Awesome episode... great show nikki
BIG Nikki fan! (especially the SixxAM stuff) and Rudy is supreme... this vid is cool as I get to eavesdrop on two metal legends talking shop! Thanks Nikki for bringing these interesting interviews with interesting people. 😀
Lamb of god. Dual guitar attack and the best drummer nowadays. Randy’s voice is a weapon in itself.
Rudy is the man, Nikki is great as always, two cool cats!
I had Rudy's bass lesson video on VHS. Got so much from it.
You can feel that Rudy it's so nice person... Lovely guy and great, great musician. God bless him😇
I want this show back!
My fav 2 bass players of all time. I remember going to Girls Girls Girls 2 times. Whitesnake opened for them. They filmed the Wildside video here in Indianapolis @ MSA!
One of my favorite guitarists! Such a humble guy! He wrote some real tasty licks for his time
That was awesome!!
You can't help but like Rudy👊😎
These two dudes have the bottom end down pat.. Rudy has been a friend since 79/80 & Nikki has been around since the early Ozzy days when he toured with them.. Love that Spector bass with the Simms pickups..
Another great interview Nikki, you definitely have a natural ability for this stuff. I can't understand why you don't have a million subscribers already WTF. I had the pleasure of meeting Rudy at the airport in Calgary a few years ago . He was fantastic to talk with, we spoke for probably 15 min's, before getting on our flight to LA. One of the greats, an amazing show man and master of the instrument. Very cool dude. I only wish you guy's would have played more. Maybe next time.
It's great being a bassist it's cool seeing two rock legends get together and talk bass.
One of the greatest musicians and greatest human beings of all time!!!
Thanks Nikki :) Awesome channel..
Rudy is a living legend and seems like a guy you could just hang with and learn from for weeks.
Absolutely love Sixx and Rudy in this little session lol hey Nikki you should let someone come on the show and interview you for my favourite riff.
Rudy is a super-bassist, & comes across as a super cool dude! He comes to mind when I think of the greats!
Rudy is great bass player! \m/
Great interview Rudy is a legend and seems like a very cool dude I been a fan since 81' Blizzard Of Ozz NYC killer show he is one of my dream bassists keep up the cool work guys. \m/
I was at that show at the Palladium
This is awesome, sounds just like my friends and I, without the millions and hits of course. Big fan thanks fellas
Sick show!!!
Rudy a True Gentleman. Sir Duke, Bass By Nathan Watts 1977 wikipedia ...
Great episode. Rudy is great
Rudy the living legend. Still kicking ass!
This is such a great show. Not a musician, they are basically talking Chinese Algebra to me, but I could listen to them talk all day. Just really glad to see Nikki this way, very healthy and so into his craft. Rudy has been in a bunch of my "favorite" bands and to hear them both discuss behind the scenes stuff and how the music was put together is aces !!!
Good Stuff. Saw them both at US festival, Metal Day. Young aggressive and hungry at that time. Both really popular in their bands. Rock On
This video length and dialog is much more entertaining than the one and done riff videos. Thanks
Very down to earth dude Rudy is..I sat with him at the bar next too house of blues after watching him with Yngwie. Drank a beer with him and just shot the shit..easy guy to talk too, and he had no bones about the few questions I had..mainly about Randy Rhoades
Is Slash next? Im never sure what are the relations between GnR and Motley Crue, but I can see you two talk for hours about music!
You need to get Geddy Lee on here....
CRYING IN THE RAIN!!!!
I wanna hear him play that great bass line in Metal Health.. the bridge.. it's so good.. so simple, but so good
Legend
i saw rudy perform with some other musicians at the randy rhoads memorial show a few years back at the sage brush cantina in augora, CA and he was amazing
So great seeing two Rock Icon's Sharing Awesomeness
