    Hey that turned out really nice. You did a good job and I like your design. It's a good idea for backyard offices and it would also make a good artist workspace or rehearsal studio or anywhere where someone wants some privacy.

      That's very sweet. I'm working on a new video tutorial that will walk you through a build like this step by step, so you'll be able to build it yourself.

    Nicely done. Was happy to see some plywood going in to the interior as a feature wall. You didn't seem to touch on budget at all. And timeframe for the entire project. Was the client happy with how long it took?

    Amazing design.. it looks really nice.. is it possible to buy the design? Im working on a budget to build something like this for my daughter.. I work with HvAc guys, carpenters and electricians.. they’re willing to help me on my project but I will like to have a design, blue prints in hands.. thank you.

    Nice! I'm curious what the inside height of the walls are at the short and tall sides. It looked like the short side was only 7' at the most, which seems pretty good for a little office.

    • @frisedesign
      @frisedesign  3 роки тому +2

      You're right! If I recall correctly it went from about 6'8" to 8'5". The local zoning bylaws governed this decision.

      We actually toyed with that idea originally, however the local zoning bylaws got in the way - always an important constraint in the design process!

    I’m a little confused. I saw insulating panels grey in color, then I saw pink insulation at the end.. are there 2 layers of insulation being used?

    • @frisedesign
      @frisedesign  Рік тому

      Yep! There is both exterior and interior insulation in this build. The interior insulation goes between the studs while the exterior insulation goes on the outside of the sheathing.
      The purpose of having both is that the interior insulation provides the bulk of the thermal resistance (fancy term for insulation), while the exterior insulation limits what's called thermal bridging.
      Thermal bridging is when heat has an easy path to escape. Without the exterior insulation heat would be able to easily leave through each of the studs since they provide a path of low thermal resistance to the outside. Adding the exterior insulation is like adding a wool coat on the outside of the building!

    • @frisedesign
      @frisedesign  Рік тому +1

      Yes this was built in Toronto where winters get quite cold, which is why I ensured it was well insulated. The builds I've created since this project all have heat pumps to both heat and cool the space year round. With this project, the owner installed his own heater.
