I built an epic home office in my backyard - start to finish

- Over the past year I built a work-from-home office in my backyard. With the exception of a couple months in 2012 doing roofing and a few months in 2014 testing concrete and soil, I had no experience in any of this!
I learned a ton and made a lot of mistakes, some bigger than others. It was all worth it. I'm loving working from my new office!
Check out the playlist where I go into more details on each step: • Backyard Office Build
Managing to remember to set up a camera for every part of the action is an epic achievement in itself
I can’t believe that only took you 20 minutes to build. That’s incredible
It would’ve been even faster if I didn’t keep changing clothes
Your comment gave me the biggest laugh I had this month 😂
😂😂😂
But how long did it actually take? 6 months? lol.
@@evangrimes112 A year working some nights and most weekends.
Nice video! No annoying music, no volume changes, does not dwell on one process - gives enough attention to all the processes. One of the best videos i have seen on a out building. 👍Not to mention, it looks professionally done.
"No annoying music" yeah about that. 19:43
I can't watch this video. Where's the caveman rock music? 👍
@@norfy I'm so sorry a minute of instrumental music triggered you this hard. 🖕
That's why you NEVER live in a HOA community! 😅👍
Mad props for building this with basically weekend warrior level of tools.
It takes a real man to do a job like this with no knee pads. The dude is so good that he even made the window screen himself
He uses knee pads...
This is one of the best construction time lapse videos I've seen in a while. Just enough details to see which construction method you used in each step. There are so many ways to do things. Congrats on finishing too! The place looks awesome.
👍🏻 Exactly
That’s what happens when it’s your property you’re working on. Contractors don’t have to live with it and only care about the paycheck
You paid attention to more details than any contractor I’ve met lol. Nice work
He also failed to dig below the frost line for his foundation. He’s going to have massive issues down the road and may need to tear the entire thing down and start over. If he’s in a cold state, he’ll definitely need to.
He did a lot of things right! But that’s a pretty massive mistake to make.
It’s why you generally shouldn’t be making tutorial videos like this unless you actually know what you’re doing; very easy to miss important details like that.
@@mr.doctorcaptain1124 How do you know the frost line in his location?
Been doing diy for 18 years, the confidence level here is unmatched. Lotta hard work and research. Congratulations
Quickest route to work ever. No traffic or assholes to deal with on the train or bus.
Wow! What a huge accomplishment. I can only imagine how nice it must be to work out of there. Especially knowing you built it yourself. That is no small project. Impressive!!
Until he needs to poop, forgot keys and the wife locked the back door.
As a women retired 25 yrs early …who indulges in DIY videos as an epic adventure this is by far one of my favorites. Youre techniques and safety usages 🥰 epic.
I will be taking this on in a smaller scale.
I am in the midst of planning to build one of these and this is the best video I have seen yet, by far.
Not sure what’s more impressive … your building or editing skills. Well done dude! The UA-cam algorithm is working for you, I’d say!! Keep it up.
Thank you!
Hey! Ernest here from the Philippines. Love the technique and the process of how you built the structure. I'm inspired of you what you do. I will definitely use the skill to build my own house in a bigger Scale. Hope to see more videos from you. God bless!
Fantastic video. No Dewalt or Milwaukee sponsored BS. Just some cheap ass tools resulting in a fantastic build. This is how a proper build video is done.
I’m not a builder or anything like that, but I watched and thoroughly enjoyed this video. I wish I had this talent, work ethic, and passion! This turned out beautiful❤
Great work, I love how you used regular tools most of us own and simple techniques to make something so solid. And doing everything down to charging the coolant, respect!
Oh, so this is how they built Rome in one day. Great Job!!!
I don't know what mistakes you made but this turned out fantastic! You installed your own AC unit and made window screens....great job!
This guy built everything from scratch. Very enjoying watching his video.
Man that was awesome to watch. So satisfying to see it all go up.
This is awesome! I can only imagine the planning that went into this.
This is amazing. Love that you got a bit of everything into this final video edit. The finished product is super impressive, too. Well done!
Cleanly executed, nice work! What a refreshing space to work in! Thank you for recording and sharing your journey.
This is absolutely amazing - it looks so good. Fantastic video work here as well. Love this!
The way I watched this entire video from start to finish. As if I could ever 😅
I nearly broke myself this very morning trying to replace my kitchen faucet, and then I log on to UA-cam to see you build a whole fricken office to work in!! Big props to people like you who can work with your hands like this. Must be so special to work in a structure you built yourself. BRB, have to fix a mystery leak under my kitchen sink now that somehow happened after I replaced the faucet... 😅
Well done. Respect the use of PPE. Wish I'd have started wearing it earlier in life. Cheers
Wow! This is incredible! And to do it all in just over 20 minutes... amazing! Very well done!
Good job dude! I’ve been a builder for over 20 years and I don’t have much bad to say about this one. I would have many tips and tricks from an efficiency standpoint but still, a very commendable job you did here. 👍
Thank you! That means a lot
Can you share shed tips with me?
Yes I would like to know the tips
cracking job mate. Love the finishing - easily the best build of this type I've seen on YT
that foundation is amazing
I sat here this morning in the office I built (addition onto house) and I must say this is amazing. You did a really good job my friend. From start to finished I was really amazed. Good job and great video. Thank you for sharing!!!!
Not only a great example of the process, but a great example of the process *alone*. This is about the size I'm planning as well and some of the tricks you showed to hang drywall and the like solo will come in handy for sure.
Thanks bruv. Now I can add home building to the many skills I’ve acquired via UA-cam.
From beginning to end nowhere to everywhere, truly genius and amazing quality job.
Very cool to see a fellow software engineer build their own outdoor office! Great little jig idea for putting up plasterboards on the upper walls.
All the way down to making your own window screens. 👏 👏 👏
Very nice. She is solid and well built. I'll bet you are enjoying that space.
This is such a great build! And a relaxing watch. This is really inspiring
Truly a joy to watch. Thanks for your hard work
Epic build my man. I'd tell the wife I'm moving out and into this new pad.
Wow, this is one of the best video breaking down all important steps, esp for guys who already have general construction knowledge
Watching you drywall made me feel so much better about my attempts 😂😂😂😂. You can tell when a carpenter/builder tries do drywall. It’s really just about getting it done! Top marks!!
😆
Amazing brother, Im halfway through my build and motivated by your video to finish it asap.
Beautiful work, brother! Such a quality job and amazing result! Proud of you, and you should feel proud, too! Hard work pays off!
Amazing work. Do it attitude, just great. Looking forward to see more videos from you. 🎉
This looks absolutely amazing!
I like the fact you used all harbor freight tools
Wonderful.....amazing tiny house
Nice job , all the best for the coming days .
Man this is so impressive. Great job!
ur talent and skills are out of this world! Truly impressive! Great work!!!
Beautiful job! Very enjoyable to watch 😊
One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. This is awesome. Probably built better than my actual house.
Unreal. Better quality and better build than my own home. Great job, buddy.
I will be doing the same thing in my yard, however I will be replacing the "office" with a "bar" lol. Great job Nathan!
Great Job Brother! That was a fun watch. Great attention to detail!
wow! I just got my 40ft container from Wuwi Shipping Container very cheap and even paid it upon delivery. cant wait to start working.
Wow that was amazing start to finish. Great job and i am sure you don’t need me to tell you keep doing the great work.
10:28 is best part of this video.
“Gotta test ‘em out!”
If you didn't build your house, I'm certain your office is built with more precision and quality than your home. The care you put in inspecting each piece of material and the precision of placement is just not practiced by most home builders. Such a solid build. Thanks for upload.
dude this is so sick! really admire your skills😮💨
Um trabalho muito bonito de se ver. O resultado é maravilhoso. Parabéns.
That is absolutely amazing
Dude this was one of the coolest videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. You’re talented as hell man great job!
Man you literally made everything 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Wow. You're impressive and very skilled. Nice job.
Awesome work, and incredibly informative! Thank you!
Thanks! I’m releasing the first video in a series today where I’m going to go in more detail on each step of the process.
Perfect! Can't wait.@@nathanetech
WOW all that in 20 minutes, amazing! j/k I am amazed on how you did everything with so little help and from scratch. Not one cut or bruise. You are a master of all these trades. Such dedication 👏 Take a bow!
It was accelerated in a short time so that it was fast
What an amazing job. Salute to you sir
Good work, the video was great no annoying music or constant talking about this or that or the other. If there is 10 of you a palace can be built.
Wow! Nice! I love that space. Great job 👏
beautiful office! almost exactly what i need too, i am planning to renovate part of my shed and i am not handy at all, your video gave me some clarity on what to do!
Awesome job, thanks for sharing.
Excellent build. Excellent video editing.
Very impressed by your skills man. My hat off to you señor 👍
This was beautifully done!
Man I watch these and it takes me back to when I did a deck and shed solo. Along with many other remodel projects. I still have the fire but with work, 2 kids and one more on the way time, energy, and sleep are very limited
Man, I feel that. I have 2 kids and sometimes don’t know how I managed to build this. In many ways, my wife is the MVP of this build for giving me the leeway to do it.
Congratulations , Excellent JOB
Ah yes, a fellow lefty. Of course you did an amazing job, we are amazing people 😅
You did a great job!
That's awesome Nathan! This was a well done video. I'd like to take on a project like this sometime soon as well.
Very nice work dude, Congratulations
What a fantastic job - well done you👌👌👏👏
Thank you!
once in a while, i discover a gem on youtube like your channel... i'm looking forward to see what you'll do with this channel - i looks very promising! CONGRATS!
Thanks, I really appreciate that!
Amazing job! Very inspiring!
Amazing. Great job!
i like how most of your tools looked new; the stickers were still there and there's no signs of wear yet. means you were learning as you went along. i did the same for my patio and storage shed.
Brilliant...great work ...much respect
Cleanup looks nice! Hope you ankle get better quickly
I can tell you are a good man
Nice job !
That plastic barrier you stapled to the bottom I can almost guarantee from experience will trap moisture and create mold.
Beautiful work
Wow, that's awesome. A skill I wish I had.
Simply awesome!!! Nice job!!!
Beautiful work.
Beautiful job!
Now that's a handy MAN! Great work 👍🏽
