  • A group of whale watchers got to check off seeing the world’s largest animal up close from their bucket list on August 1, when a nearly 100-foot-long blue whale swam beneath their boat.

The watcher who filmed the footage told Newsflare, ‘It’s totally rare to have this species behave in such a friendly manner. Typically blue whales are very focused on feeding and not too interested in coming over to say hi. But this whale made repeated passes directly under us. Please remember this encounter happened all while the boat’s engines were turned off and not moving. A few times a year, we get to see whales initiate these special encounters.’

Beautiful! But there is no way that is 100 ft. I'm estimating around 50-60ft MAX and that a VERY generous estimate. (I'm using the boat as a reference) Can you even imagine one TWICE that size!?!

Do you see how intelligent they are???
How he went a couple of feet below the boat and paused slightly and made sure he did NOT even let his tail touch or disturb the boat, then floated until he cleared the boat THEN CAME UP TO THE SURFACE FOR AIR...
    They are awesome!!!

What make you assume that? stop humanizing animals. the whale wasn't being careful with the humans in the boat, but probably thought the boat was a creature and wanted to be careful.

@@Not-Kobe Nah, cetaceans can recognize sentience and sapience in other creatures, it knew what it was doing. They're not the dumb, they are just as aware and conscious as us, so they recognize "intelligent life" when they see it.

This is definitely not a full grown adult but a sub adult animal. It is still absolutely stunning to see in person. I'm sure it was enjoying watching the people as much as it was being watched by them.

Raashid Kamaal, yeah the boat looks to be a 30ft Zodiac. That whale IS huge. At least 80 feet.

@@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 if the boat is 30ft long then the whale is DEFINITELY not 100 ft. I would say 60 ft tops. Still a majestic marvelous creature. Imagine how big it will get 😲😲
