How I made print and play cards that riffle shuffle, snap, and sound like regular playing cards.

For the core in the middle of these cards I used one split sheet of 5mil (NOT 3mm as mentioned in the video) laminating pouch purchased here:

This idea is great. I ended up buying acetate sheets for overhead projectors. I print my cards on sheets of A4 not using the fold. So opted to use spray adhesive, adhere the one side to the acetate, flip it, spray again and line up and stick the backs.
It has the "snap" sound and they bounce back nicely. Wouldn't have thought to use acetate as a core until setting your video so thank you so much for sharing.
Yes, I've used acetate transparency sheets too! However, I've found that the plastic edge when cut can leave an edge that needs to be sanded off the sides of the cards.

Hello! I really appreciate your video. I wanted to know if you spray your cards afterwards to make them semi-glossy or anything.
Both lay-person (never did this before but love to do this once) as well as a non-American (we use metric). And I have some confusion/questions. Looking it up 24-pound paper is likely the bound weight, not cover weight? And should be equal to 90 grams/m2 paper? 80 grams/m2 is normal printer/copy A4-paper over here.
But that's actual paper, your link has the words "cotton" and "linnen" on it. I was told linnen is just the texture, not some actual ingredient, but...cotton might be? I assume cotton-infused paper(?) is both more durable and tough as well as heavier than normal printer paper? Or...would normal printer paper work too, as long as you use the paper lamination?
Is it the Linen paper that gives you that sheen to the cardstock?
Hi Rachel, Thx for this video. I have a question, i'm in the process of buying a new printer (our old one broke 2 weeks ago). If you where in the same position as us and you would have to buy a new printer, with all of your video's and knowledge (now a couple of years further down the road) what printer would you buy?? (I also want to use it to print out card based PnP games) I am a little biased to go for laser, but inkt is also ok if you would advice on this?? Thanks, Andy! I place down something I can get spray on before spraying glue on the card sheets. I often use brown paper bags from the grocery store or broken up cardboard boxes for this.
Do I need to download software to print my images on that playing card template or will the epson printer I’m buying come with that template
Did you get any ink residue on your laminator after running your cards through? If so, do you know any way to clean it. I had to buy a whole new one and I'm hesitant to run any other cards through it that won't be enclosed in laminate. Thank you for the vid.

If we have a bored game and there's a mistake with the cards or missing some, can we print them up on the printer?
Some people have done this. The tricky thing is getting the card to be the exact same size, with same mm of rounded corners, with the same thickness and feel of card. The best way is to contact the game publisher directly to see if they will replace the missing cards.
I understand you using half a laminating sleeve as the core. But I'm not sure how you're running it through the laminator afterward? Those cards don't look laminated with a plastic face. Or are you saying you don't use another sleeve, but by running the cards with the lamination inside through the laminator it heats up the card inside? I'm not quite understanding.
Hi David, you're correct, the cards are not laminated on the outside. When I run the sheet of cards through the laminator it is only to heat the sheet inside, that's making the core. This firms up the core and makes it stronger. Hope that's clear, now.

There is a corner punch tool to achieve perfect round corners, those punches offer rounding at different angles, depending on the size you need

Depends on what process and products you're using. In this method, I always spray before but you could try spraying after, I just haven't. Some people laminate the outside of the cards to avoid spraying, or they just sleeve the cards in premade sleeves.
@@RachelBruner I was mostly wondering if the the laminate would act as an adhesive. I've been using the laminating the card and passing it through twice and then again after cutting. Thank you for getting back to me!
@@LachlanKadick A sheet of laminate only has sticky stuff on one side, so only that side would stick as an adhesive (after running it through the laminator). I always spray glue the entire page before adding the laminate just to make sure everything is properly adhered. It's also easiest that way, using the method I use, shown in my "How to Make Cards that Shuffle" video.
What is 32lb paper is that card stock?
32lb linen paper is not card stock. My regular, cheap printer paper is 20lb, so the 32lb is only slightly thicker/heavier. Linen paper has a slight texture to the paper, which is just personal preference. You can use other types of paper. Just try what you have access to, and see how it works for you! Trial and error is a lot of the print and play fun. :D
