great video! you can use a sander (flapper wheel) attachment onto a 4.5" grinder and that will smooth out the white harder type foam, or a rough rasp or file will do as (on outside finishing) as well.
Great video thanks, I always wondered if I bought a new seat it has the same seat pan so why couldn’t I just do like you did and save $500 , I’m going to try it thanks again
My girl's meanstreak has the same seat as a 900 and it makes her ride her R1 more than the Vulcan. I picked her up a "25x25x2cm gel pad" on Amazon for about 30$. Looked all over for that 3/4" gel pad and it's a unicorn.
@@even7steven I did some more looking it appears you are right everything is either 5/8 or 2cm. The thickest one i found was a 1 inch that was 1/2 in gel and 1/2 in memory foam. 2cm isn't far off from 3/4 and should significantly improve comfort.
@@WeekendAdventureRides it's all good, the basics are in the video and it's never a guarantee that you will find the raw materials without a little digging. I was just throwing some change in the bucket. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Good tip is to use a hairdryer to warm the leather seat cover which makes it stretcher when you are re applying it

And I just happened to have a spare seat for my 08 DL650.
Much less of an issue if I screw it up.
Thanks for the instructions.
Excellent work in both the teaching and the seat.
A decent electric stapler does this job very well, they're cheap, readily available and don't require a compressor ;-)
Thanks for the video. Going to try this on my Vulcan 900. Where did you get the gel pad?
Its available on amazon 3/4" gel pad

Nice video! What length staples did you use?
I'm pretty sure they were 5/16
Where can I obtain the Gel that you used ?
Ebay
Can u post links to the materials u used such as the gel and foam
www.ebay.com/itm/393195823585?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=kmuAgzwdQI-&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=nZzepdh5RZO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Great video.
But is the seat actually more comfortable ? And is it more hot because gel doesnt breath.
I'm still running this seat and I think it is significantly better. I don't get butt fatigue as quickly. As far as heat I don't notice a difference.
Anyone know where to get that gel insert all I’m getting back is shoe insert gel or breast gel covers
Just use two.
Awesome vid!
Can anyone help me… where can I purchase one of those gel sheets?
I’m from the uk
Any help would be much appreciated!
I found it on ebay
