Be safe out there brother. LU 520 here. Gonna hit the road for Nebraska on Monday. Tons of work up there. This will be my first time travelling. I'm nervous but I know it'll all work out. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep it up
@@IsaiahWarner-um6hxI know brothers who ve been working straight, worked through 2008 2009, covid, all of it...I know brothers who ask for lay offs at the end of every job so they can take off, still with their lay offs, they ll be making more than your typical non union, + the medical benefits and great retirement accounts (annuity, pension...)
This is an amazing video, giving us new IBEW members the privilege of experiencing a glimpse of the tramp life! Thanks alot for sharing, I also started deer hunting (compound bow) last year on public land here in PA, so far no luck, but it's always awesome to be out there in nature enjoying god's creation! @@kingpinballer242 Hello Bro, sorry I just saw your comment, show up to the union hall (101 S 7th St), say that you re interested to join the apprenticeship, and file an application... @@kingpinballer242Hi bro, sorry I just saw your comment, yeah, just call the hall, ask about joining the apprenticeship, take the aptitude test (english and math) and then if you pass, you ll get an interview date! The guys at the hall are very helpful! Don't hesitate to call and schedule an appointement to talk with the organizer!
Man you inspire me I just talked to an older guy that was a plumber I’m thinking about going the electrician route, he said if he could do it over that’s what he would do, so yea man I’m freaking decided thank you
@@prophetleejames I hope you do ! So do this ,Google : " IBEW near me "and you will find a union hall for the electrician's you can call them and they will tell you what to do next. Thanks for watching brother 🙏
Local 490 here! Just organized in October but trying to get into the union state of mind! 6 years into the trade and I would love to travel on some big jobs
I did the same! 6.5 years non-union and got my journeyman card.then I tested in as a journeyman and been in 26 years now. Been traveling only 5 years now and love it ! Best of luck and keep on grinding my brother 💪
Just got back from a 15 month run in Dekalb. You're right about the cold out there. It's brutal. And its grey all the time. But I'm glad I did it. Be safe out there Brother and thanks for the video. L.U. 683 Columbus, OH.
You are awesome! I did my welding in Malta, IL & from Chicago in TN About to start through local JATC electrical apprenticeship I was a operations coordinator in warehousing logistics etc so I want to learn it all including PLC’s etc
Thank you for watching brother 🙏. Sounds like you have the want to. An electrician who can also weld is gold, learn the PLC world and you'll be able to name your price! Keep going brother 💪
As a Illinois resident, firearm deer hunter, and local 150 member I flipped out my brother when you mentioned crossbow. I looked it up and turns out they changed the law in 2017 so anyone can use one not just those with disabilities. I was going to warn you, lol.
Have a friend who's always trying to get our company to become union ibew Atl. He still can't explain how this will help me out. I'm already master in 12 states and mostly do qualifier for other companies. I also don't get layoff slips. However I loved working prevailing wages on union jobs. Sweet sweet slomotion work.
It may not be for you. But for the other brother's and sisters who want to have union representation, make above normal wages, have better health care and get a big pension when they retire, and travel anywhere in the country for work, then those are the people I make these videos for! Some of you guys can do it differently in your own way or style. Just let it be known the term "layoff " is not a negative, all job s are completed on time and according to schedule. There is so much adventure waiting for us when the job is finished and we have time to relax for a while ( sometimes a few months for me to chase my passion and deer hunt) and then start a new job somewhere beautiful and fun. Remember, if you don't know this: I worked for 14 years with the same union contractor! ( Boring! ) It's time for my adventures to take me wherever I want and I'll take a union Job while I'm there! Best of luck out there my friend and tell the union friend of yours to keep spreading the brotherhood!! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
Yes, when you're hired for a specific project or task. When that project or task you hired in on is complete you will get your lay-off and your check. If you take a "shop call" that means you work for the shop and anything or job that comes in to the shop sometimes for years if you want. Most of us look forward to the lay-off and on to the next! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
stop by local 365 rockford. i got laid off from the keweit job 3 weeks ago. caught the tri city at facebook within 3 weeks. they have hired about 120 within the last 2 weeks.
I always google for gyms in the area, truck-stops and rest areas and walmarts to start with, to make life easier of these are near the job. After that I've found your new co-workers will hook you up with lots of info on all your needs. Thanks for watching 🙏

Rock on brother 🙏 never look back!
The ability to travel for work is a benefit non-union never talks about. It's a great benefit to have.
That's right! Thanks for watching brother 🙏
Also as a nonunion electrician I don’t have to deal with layoffs lol. Only time I travel is for vacation and it’s paid😂
Union never talks about how much their laid off.
