I too thought the movie was very watchable. Momoa and Wilson had some funny banter. I think what hurt this (and The Flash) was that people knew that the DCU was basically dead as far as the Man of Steel era was concerned what with James Gunn’s new DC universe coming soon. The last few movies being released because they had already sunk a lot of money into them. It would be great if they kept Momoa as Aquaman but they’ll probably go for a younger actor.
Magy/Laura, if you look at when Aquaman first appeared in comics, he actually looked more like Orm here than Arthur (light-skinned, blonde hair).
When Zach Snyder decided to bring Aquaman to the big screen, he thought Arthur should look like the people of Polynesian descent, because of their close relationship to the ocean. 🔱🌊
I liked this movie. It's nice to see it get some appreciation. So many snobby critics bashing it just because it's the trendy thing to do.
I mean all due respect it was kinda boring especially compared to the first one that got great reviews for a reason
@@dimensionzone8048 Tastes may differ. I certainly have criticisms-some of the humour didn't land, and some of the editing was awkward, for example-but I enjoyed it and I think more people would have if they'd watched it with an open mind.
I’m so happy that you two ladies enjoyed this movie. I personally enjoyed it for what it was. I knew it was going to have bad reviews because of Amber Heard being in the movie but I wasn’t gonna let something like that keep me from enjoying the movie. Laura crushing for Jason Momoa is absolutely hilarious and golden 🤣

I love you for reacting to this movie. Same with you, I loved it, and honestly, I liked it even more than the first one. It's not epic storytelling or anything, it's not some deep complext story, but it's a movie to have fun with, and I did. The whole non-sense drama with Depp-Heard, and the fact that we all knew this universe was ending really hurt the movie, but I enjoyed it as it was :)

The focus on the bond between characters in this movie certainly elevated it above the first one. It's really heartwarming to see how Arthur's dad interacts with both Arthur and his son, Meera, Arthur and the kid scenes are melting your heart and even less important relationships, like the one between Nereus and Orm are interesting to watch, seeing how the trust between them is mended.
The additional screentime for the Brine King was such a good idea, dude was hilarious throughout the movie.
Orm and Arthur have some crazy good chemistry together, their banter is funny, comes off really naturally and the fighting scenes with the two of them working together are works of art, really hyping you up as a viewer.
David as Black Manta is not really that threatening, just like in the first movie. Sadly, the "real" villain, Kordax gets too little screentime. He's being propped up as a huge threat but he gets trident-ed mere moments after coming out of ice.
Dr. Shin's character arc was pretty satisfying to watch. He starts off quite enthusiastic but as he sees David's descent into madness, he finally sees the light and tries doing the right thing.
Queen Atlana's screentime was probably longer or the same as in the first movie but she did hold her own ground, fighting like a badass and offering sage advice when needed. It's actually refreshing to see a character as experienced as her use that knowledge she accumulated over time. Same can be said about King Nereus.
The whole "global warming" plotpoint has been handled quite well, putting it a little twist on it, the endgoal being the release from captivity of Kordax, not just the vanilla "destroy the world" motive.
Topo the octopus was one funny addition to the movie, Arthur's interactions with it were hilarious and he did help the brothers quite a lot along the way.
All the movie references were inserted masterfully along the way and Jason delivered the lines in such a way that you can't help but giggle or burst out laughing.

So much like Darth Vader, easily preyed and somehow addicted to an unlimited amount of unimaginable power that feels promising enough to get everything he want without knowing what price is there to pay increasingly. Similar as having alcohol, we allow curiosity or desire to take place over our own consciousness before allowing the drugs to force our mind into a floating feeling of emptiness, absolutely unaware of what damage we've done.
Best part of the film was seeing Kordax get revived, just to be erased by Aquaman's Golden Trident in LESS than one minute. 🔱😂

Of course it depends on taste, however many people (I'm not saying all) say that "they didn't like it" not because the film was bad, but rather it is because of disappointment that Snyder's universe did not continue and this was the final chapter of the DCEU.
The movie is really good. Personally, I saw it twice in 3D and it was truly a fantastic experience.
This movie is more than "good", it is 🌊most enchanting⚡!

Aquaman is the Thor of the DCU. A great actor plays the perfect role that is awesome when it’s serious, has lots of potential for badassery and it gets killed by trying to force them to be comedic

I liked the movie and ordered it on 4K. Bad element was humor by the crab man putting some useless jokes. Not sure if I prefer it to 1, but one had pacing problems, with presenting the characters, flashbacks, that slowed the movie.

I hate superhero movies they are painfully generic and repetitive they are really lame compared to animation. Animation is a gold mine when it comes to superheroes most animated shows and films are superior to any live action film especially the MCU and DCEU films. Live action fell off after The Dark Knight Trilogy in my opinion it just got more repetitive as it went on and it's really Marvel's fault. I highly recommend the OG DCAU it's the greatest adaptation of a comic book universe and it's definitely worth the watch.

The Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial made Depp lose his role in the 3rd Fantastic Beasts (Grindlewald) film but Heard (Mera) got to stay in this film. She should have lost het role too.

Depp lost his role because he lost a suit HE filed in the UK, in which he accused the Sun of Defamation for calling him a "wife-beater". The Sun used truth as a defence, and the UK court ruled in their favour, finding that it was proved to the civil standard (balance of probability) that Depp committed at least 12 acts of physical violence against her. This was subsequently upheld by two other judges on appeal. Again, this was not anything she initiated (nor was the Virginia trial), but a suit he started, and lost. That's why he lost his role, he did it to himself, and the fact that despite her having her role reduced, other roles lost, every detail of her personal life exposed and ridiculed all over social media, receiving death threats to her and her child, and having to literally sell her home and leave the country, you still don't think she suffered enough, says a lot of not great things about your character.

And, even if you thought she was a horrible person, the outpouring of hate toward her (and anyone who supported or was connected with her) in 2022 was just completely over the line. And certainly not "equal" to how people who have been proven to have done much worse than her have been treated. As to Depp, yeah he lost a role because of the UK case. But people forget that his career was already on a decline for years before his relationship with Heard.
