Great video. I thought this was an interesting exploration of these powerful masters. EU Luke really was OP but I think he earned that and I think it makes sense that his character would be OP. One of my favorite post-ROTJ Luke stories is the Hand of Thrawn Duology where he's actively holding back.
I agree that Grandmaster Luke, based on your research and reasonings, would inevitably win in a duel against Yoda. Excellent video Antoine. Good job. And I am excited for whatever VS video comes out next. Personally, I would love to see Plo-Koon enter the fray.
The outcome was never in doubt. As with Ahsoka vs. Luke, I believe this fight between the two Grand Masters would be more of a sparring match between friends. Even if Yoda is surpassed by Luke, there is no doubt that he'd be proud of his former student, just as Obi-Wan and Anakin are in spirit. Looking forward to more Versus matches!
Love how you explained the fight. EU Luke has surpassed Yoda.. Cadeus and Luke fight is kind of like Voldermort and Dumbledore. Voldermort fears Dumbledore because of his power and skill. Lumiya tossing civilians at Luke is due to Luke has already beaten her before and knows her technique. She not going to ask for another round of defeat by fighting Luke again. There are reasons why
Luke did become a--as TV Tropes calls it--Boring Invincible Hero as time went on, but at least there's a reason for that: he's a highly motivated, prodigal talent who places heavy emphasis on improving his abilities. And he certainly had to endure his fair share of terrible ordeals along the way--he didn't just get everything handed to him right away.
to be honest after the Thrawn Trilogy legends Luke was always dull to me since basically he became a force God who outstripped everyone with ease. Caonon Luke to me was far more interesting as a character even if I think the way they handled his becoming a hermit poorly
Legends Luke is just way too overpowered. It would be nice to have gotten some cannon stories/movies that are a more realistic version of legends Luke and not the "sit on my hands and mope about" Luke of The Last Jedi.
Aaron Pharaoh he’s way too overpowered because he’s the son of the chosen one, and a chosen one himself, the force chose him to be the most powerful force user in galactic history. Legends Luke is overpowered for a good reason, and I think he should be
The problem with Legends Luke isn't that he's overpowered (Superman is the same way), it's that there's never anything that can subvert his power or give him a challenge. To put it simply, he's Superman if there was no kryptonite.
People underestimate canon luke though. He defeated Vader (sort of) after only 5 years of being a jedi. And in tlj he was able to create a force prjection after having just reconnected to the force after a long time
Solid video. First time I think I've seen you or one of the other major Versus UA-camrs have a 10 to 0 victory. Granted, this was a fairly expected outcome, in my opinion. Luke's showings are just absurd compared to Yoda's.
@@AntoineBandele Unlike Yoda we know when Luke’s prime was. And how powerful he was Yoda we don’t know when his prime was and how powerful he was I feel like in his prime he might be much quicker and much better with the lightsaber then he was in his old age
Awesome video! I miss your versus series!!!!! I prefer the Legends Luke over the Disney Canon Hermit Luke. I'd like to imagine there's a scenario where Grandmaster Luke and Yoda can have a friendly duel :)
i appreicate your fair and balanced analysis in this and all your other versus series videos, I also appreicate all the work of the other people who do these videos as they put time and effort in to make them and they do give a thoughtful and well presented analysis along with source material to match them. I just think you balance it out and make all the points that need making and you don't ignore certain things because it doesn't suit who you think should get the victory you base victory on one or two points in a persons favour, so one person could have skills that give them a 1 category victory but you will ultimately award a victory to someone who has a significant feat or feats over the other in there advantage.
Your arguments for Force-Agumentation consistently surprises and impress me. Your stance on it's relevance to someone's physical capabilities and their execution it being able to override natural advantages are quite solid and have many examples from the lore to support them. At first, claiming that Force-enhancement can override natural advantages can sound like a lazy assumption, but the is not the case in your video's or assessments. I do have a minor disagreement on Mace Windu's results and application of Force-enhancement. His speed is possibly on-par with Yoda's, though not his equal. And his feats of endurance and fortitude shown on Haruun Kal outperform Yoda's own constitution. I think that you focus a little too much on their speed, and not only all of their feats in equal measure. Your insights into Luke's encounters with the Yuzzhan Vong and the effects of Force precognition and augmentation are very impressive in making your assessments very balanced and encompassing. Sometimes I wonder which characters are more ridiculously OP without being built-up unrealistically or boringly: Luke Skywalker or Son Goku. I agree with your assessments of their Force abilities, with one small draw-back. Luke will look to end a conflict as smoothly and efficiently as possible. He would likely apply less powerful but more creative or nuanced methods in the Force akin to Obi-Wan Kenobi's methods much earlier then pure power-blows with Electricity or Telekinesis. While Yoda was not outdone with Dooku's own subtle methods, Luke has learned from personal train, practice and experience with Darth Vader, Lumyia, his wife, and Darth Caedus. I believe that Luke could catch Yoda off-guard with several very nuanced techniques or tricks to achieve an earlier win with the Force. Concerning Martial arts, I only have small criticisms for Luke. Such as his comprehension of different techniques that have been shown through training and sparring with his students, or his tutelage of many great Masters father New Jedi Order. Or Luke's capability to maintain his focus and incredible amount of skill under duress or in an emotional state rather than allowing himself to become excessive or unbalanced. With Yoda, I also believe that there is one other duelists who can fight on Yoda's level; not as a master of all forms, but someone with the skill-set, sensibilities and practices, and experience to hold their own or defeat him with swordsmanship alone. Revenge of the Sith-era Obi-Wan Kenobi. While they were never shown sparring with the each other his skills and capabilities to match or render it impossible for these Tier-1 or higher fighters with a blade might balance-out your video's more. Privately, I believe that individuals like Darth Sidious, Grad Master Luke Skywalker, Revan, Darth Kryat, and Yoda are Above Tier-1 in an overall sense; while Luke and Yoda maintain this same magnitude with their swordsmanship and Darth Sidious' is not quite up to their levels or perfection, experience and practice. While characters like Darth Vader, Darth Malak, Mace Windu, Grand Master Satele Shan, Kyle Katarn, Exar Kun, or Jaina Solo-Fel are Tier-1. I believe that Obi-Wan Kenobi has the skill-set of a Tier 2, but his sensibilities, tactics, and the methods he employs brings him to an overall Tier 1.5. Above Anakin, PLo Koon and Shaak Ti due to the range of skills that he has and the quality of skill he can apply and master them to, along with the creative and opportunistic tricks he is most famous for. All employed with an extremely rare disposition as a proactive defensive fighter in Star Wars. He's outclassed in terms of Power-struggles, but his resiliency, fortitude and colossal experience compared to other characters against high-quality sparring opponents or enemies make-up for this deficiency. You're match-up scenario at the end is also very accurate and in-character to both Luke and Yoda, in my opinion. A fantastic video; and one that establishes how powerful and skilled both
just to fix ur raitings a little, im going to have a 1-10 where the best is 10 and lowest are 1 10 - grandmaster luke skywalker (best lightsaber duelist in galactic history) high 9 Yoda Darth Sidious mid 9 Darth Caedus Anakin (when in the zone)/knightfall Vader low 9 Suited vader Mace (can be bumped up if amped sufficently to borderline mid/high)/Dooku/ high 8 Obi-Wan/Maul/ Jaina Solo Fel mid 8 Exar kun (due to equality with a force severed ullic Qel Droma) low 8 Ullic Qel Droma Kyle Katarn high 7 Satele Shan Have no idea where to place Malak and Revan due to insufficent knowlege of the TOR era
I love your vs. videos! I think you really understand how the fights would work and not many other people I watch understand that. Keep it up, these vs. videos keep me going!
Luke during the Vong War has a quote stating he had never been more powerful. That would include his Sidious stomping state in DE. DE Sids>RotJ Sids>RotS Sids>Yoda. GM Luke takes this with effort but little difficulty.
Great Video man! I really appreciate your Star Wars versus series, they have been with me for a long time and a couple of months ago I came back to them just to remember how much I love them! Keep up the good work :D
Excellent video :D Admittedly, I don't know much about GM Luke, but the one thing I did disagree with was Luke getting the lightsaber advantage. Based on my admittedly little knowledge prior to this video and what was presented in the video, there wasn't anything all that conclusive to me suggesting Luke surpassed Yoda in dueling skill. That said, your logic and reasoning were on point and definitely agreeable. Looking forwards to the next one.
This match-up really reminds me of Shifu vs Tai-Lung from Kung Fu Panda 1, with a smaller, more experienced speedster losing, because his stronger, more crafty opponent can also keep up with his speed.
Not only do I love the presentation of the video and the reasoning behind each overall verdict, but I also love that this video has generated such positive and civil debate. Nice work Antoine! :) (y)
Alright, we're definitely going to need a Geek Talk for Luke in Episode 8. Hamill's performance as Luke was my favorite part of that movie. I feel like he sold the jaded defeatist version of Luke quite well, even if its different from the way he was depicted in the older movies and the old EU.
I disagree, thinking of how old Yoda is, from the prequel and onwards, he is far beyond his physical prime and is in the twilight zone of his life, the last 40/50 years basically. Yodas Ataru is defined by his physical augmentation which also makes up for his extremely frail body and gnomish stature to such an extreme that he is most likely the single greatest Ataru practitioner in galactic history. Sidious is among the greatest in Physical Augmentation but i think Yoda has a slight edge in this respect.
Yes, it’s finally out , Hopefully this could be the greatest VS match on UA-cam to end all others P.s , it totally surpassed my expectations. Also you should do Darth Sidious VS Darth Krayt.
Galen Marek vs Darth Bane Shaak Ti vs Saba Sebatyne Count Dooku and Ventress vs Bane and Zannah Malgus vs AOTC Obi Wan and AOTC Anakin Darth Maul vs Kyle Katarn Darth Vader vs Zannah Ulic Qel Droma vs Jaina Solo Fel Darth Wyyrlok III vs Darth Vader Darth Plagueis vs Darth Krayt
Zannah is taking Ventress with her spells and then Dooku can be defeated by Bane. Malgus is Tiers above Qui Gon and padawan Kenobi. Vader vs Zannah? seriosly? She can use her spells but he can take her very quickly with his offensive skills. Ulic vs Jaina? Interesting.
Macattack 1 I actually think Maul slightly edges out Kyle. He is a superior duelist, and Kyles force abilities won't do too much harm. As Maul has delt Sidious's lighting . I'd also say, Saba should win against Shaak in a close fight though. Vader vs Zannah is definitely one I am unsure about. Vader is definitely at a huge disadvantage because of her sorcery. But I can see him resisting it, the same way Bane did. He has insane indurance feats. Vader is definitely the superior duelist. Agreed with everything else.
33:01 Did you say Yoda on accident? Is that why Luke was put over your mouth and you were bleeped with astromech droid beeps? As always, wonderful video Antoine!
best thing to listen to while playing Galaxy of Heroes. also: wow, clean sweep; some fights on this channel were mismatches, but this has to be the first clean sweep in history. I seriously have trouble believing this
*Luke is defeated by palpatine in lightsaber combat when he’s resurrected* *Luke only barely wins their second duel when boosted by Leia’s force harmony* *Yoda disarms palpatine In revenge of the Sith and redirects force lightning back at him* And the winner is Luke Me: “visible confusion”
We are examining Luke later in his life. The Luke who fought, survived and won the Yuuzhan Vong War. The Luke who defeated Abeloth (with the help of Darth Krayt, but the Grandmaster did most of the work), the embodiment of Chaos
Top notch writing and design of the video. :) My problem with EU Luke is that I just don't see him having the inclination to master umpteen different forms of martial arts. That's not where his natural talents or interests lie. And even if he wanted to do it, he wouldn't have had time, given all the missions he did for the NR as well as single-handedly reestablishing the Jedi Order. The writers made him Yoda + Kenobi + Mace rolled into one instead of just writing Luke Skywalker as Luke Skywalker.
yah, the only thing that really keeps him from being a Gary Stu is that he is the son of the Chosen One...and basically has the same Force potential as Anakin. So he's supposed to be that powerful.
Gary Stu isn't about power levels, it's about a character being perfect and Luke are not. And about the Inclination just to put things into perspective from ESB he were a sub aotc Anakin duelist and at the end he might have equaled him. However in ROTJ he's already in the skill group of Dooku and Mace, 1 year with self training, 1 fucking year. He learns shit instinctivly that other masters do years mastering.
fairytalejedi FTJ He did grow though. He even goes as far to fall to Darkside to further understand it and to be able to beat Palpatine from the inside. He nearly fell again when his wife was murdered by his nephew, but he didn't. EU Luke became wiser due to age. And much like Superman, he can't save everyone, eventhough he was the strongest person in the known Galaxy.
Glad to see your making more Star Wars related content. While the outcome of the battle was painfully obvious and the video seems to feel like more of a stament on Luke's character, it is still a superb video none the less. You make great points that are backed up without being overly indulgent and the sound and editing are top notch as usual. Great job! Although, I did roll my eyes at Luke maipulating a black hole. That is up there with crap like Naga Sadow exploding stars that I am happy to ingnore.
Amazing video. Even though I already knew Grand Master Skywalker would win, you explained really well why Luke holds all the edges over Yoda. For the next video, how about Darth Caedus v. Yoda, battle of the second most powerful Sith and Jedi, or Darth Caedus v. Darth Plagueis?
Joshua Kei 1. They know each other pretty well, and they are not likely to harm a fellow Jedi. 2. Luke is skilled enough to outmatch Yoda and not hurting him.
Awesome vid man, was betting on Luke from step 1. :) I had a vs team battle idea, Darth Vader and Galen Marek vs Count Dooku and Ventress. A battle of masters with supposedly disposable apprentices
Its been a while since we got a new SW versus video and today I searched for plagueis vs sidious... Nobody has done this match up till this day. Could be a new idea for new analyses. In any case keep up the good work, I’ll be on the watch for new versus videos!😬👌🏻
Shaak Ti or Plo Koon vs Darth Maul Mother Talzin vs Mace Windu Ahsoka vs Grevious Kit Fisto vs Savage Opress Darth Maul and Savage vs Kit Fisto and Plo Koon Boba Fett vs Ben Kenobi Qui Gon vs Ki Adi Mundi And also if u wanna mix it up: Pre Vizsla vs Embo(Plus his Anooba) Captain Rex vs Aurra Sing
Ti wins majority, Koon vs TPM Maul is close. I say that one goes either way, Maul with the physical edge and Plo with the Force edge and most everything else being relatively equal. They had a brief showdown in TCW. Talzin's abilities are somewhat ill-defined but my money is on Windu if that duel were allowed to play out. Rebels Ahsoka is Luminara Unduli level at most and Legends Grievous has made the likes of Mace Windu and other Council Masters sweat in blade-to-blade engagements. Ahsoka has demonstrated nothing that Grievous can't handle. Fisto. He is simply operating at a higher level of skill, that along with his speed trumps Savage's raw power and undisciplined form. Jedi team bests the Zabraks after a brutal fight. I'd say Old Ben wins. Even considering his old age, he's fought more capable bounty hunters than Boba (Jango Fett, Cad Bane, Durge) and forced them to flee or won. The younger Fett isn't bringing anything to the table that Kenobi hasn't seen before. Ki Adi has a slight combative edge in the Force and his Soresu defense is strong. I'd argue Jinn is his superior as an offensive duelist and has a pretty good chance of winning, but I favor Mundi overall. Vizsla wins. Better armor and equipment, about equal as a hand to hand fighter and the darksaber gives him a considerable advantage (Embo is way cooler though). Legends Aurra wins handily. As much as I love Rex, he doesn't have a chance against someone capable of facing off with mid to upper-tier Jedi Knights.
I stand behind Old Ben winning against Prime Boba, though it wouldn't be an easy fight. I see it more likely for Fett to try to pick Kenobi off from a distance or with an ambush rather than face him on equal ground.
Wether it's Ti or Plo, it's a stomp on their part Talzin stomps Ahsoka stomps Fisto 8/10 More experienced Fisto and Plo stomps Boba takes this one easily Qui-Gon 7/10, we simply haven't seen Mundi being able to handle himself much in combat Idk about the last two though
Mara Jade Skywalker vs. Satele Shan. Also Saba Sebatyne in any matchup would be awesome, I really enjoyed her as a character and she was one of the Top 5 Masters of her Era (in my opinion at least). And as always I`d love to see Kyle Katarn vs. Revan, still keeping my fingers crossed 4 years after first suggesting it to someone xD
Do agree, since grandmaster Luke is basically a God, can even contend with Abeloth. The issue with yoda is because he do not channel the dark side force(energy) to his advantage.
I think Yoda has a chance. Caedus could keep up with Luke and fast enough to almost cut Luke arm off. Caedus also has circumstances in all his fight as well, in fact i think he was injured or severely hindered in almost all his fights. Also wasn't DE Luke amped by Leia when he beat Sidous?
wally west Yeah, in my opinion, it would be closer than most people would realize. Luke Skywalker does outclass Yoda, in terms of Force-abilities. Luke has telekinetically manipulated a black-hole, created astral-projections from across the galaxy ( in both the Expanded Universe and the New Canon ), reduced armies of Yuzahn Vong to ash, with Force-lightning and even achieved oneness, with the Force and reverted to a being of pure light-energy. Yoda has used the Force to extend his lifespan for centuries, tossed aside Senate-pods, with the Force, defeated Asajj Ventress, with a simple gesture, turning off her twin lightsabers, with the Force, had knowledge of Serenity, a Force-ability that allowed the practitioner to actually grow stronger with the Force, through meditation and even managed to temporarily contain Darth Sidious' Force-lightning, with Tutaminis. While their knowledge of the Force is fairly comparable, Luke's feats, with the Force greatly exceed Yoda's. Both Luke Skywalker and Yoda were incredibly skilled lightsaber duelists and had immense proficiency, with multiple forms, but Yoda should get the very slight edge, as a lightsaber duelist, with his mastery of the six classical forms of lightsaber combat, centuries of experience and perfection of Form IV: Ataru. Yoda also managed to disarm Darth Sidious, a master of all seven forms of lightsaber combat, during their duel, in the Senate-chamber, even though it wasn't depicted, in the movie. Yoda redoubled the speed of his blows. Palpatine parried one, then another and then the red lightsaber spun out of his hands, and over the edge-Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. Luke Skywalker, on the other hand was defeated, by Darth Sidious, in a lightsaber duel and had his mind penetrated, by him, even though he was not more powerful, in his prime than he was, in that instance, by any great margin. While Luke did later manage to disarm Sidious, of his lightsaber, he was only able to do so, after being freed from the dark lord's mental manipulation, by his sister.
Caedus could contend, but Antione is right that the outcome of his duel with Luke is largely due to Luke coming into the fight still injured from his fight with Lumiya, which Caedus exploits at least twice directly and then you have to consider the indirect effects of it in the fight. Luke won the duel on the Anakin Solo not at 100% and we can be confident he would win more handily at 100%.
I personally really prefer canon Luke to legends Luke. I think its because it's easier to become attatched to a human-like character who makes mistakes and has significant character changes throughout their life as opposed to God-tier characters who stay fairly unchanged throughout their publication. EU Luke's biggest Changes seemed to be getting Older and Getting Stronger. But he never seemed to change as a person. Canon Luke did. He made mistakes, incredibly serious mistakes, that caused a significant change to who he his. His mistakes and choices rocked him to his core, and that makes a better character for me. I can understand why some people don't like Luke's character in TLJ, we all have different opinions and they all depend on a certain point of view. Also Rian was kinda cornered because there was never gonna be a good explanation for why Luke didn't show up until TFA's end.
I do agree that Rian was cornered. I actually don’t put all the blame on him. I also like that his powers were tapered but I don’t like that his humanity was stripped away.
I like the idea of Luke making mistakes. I didn't want him to be this indestructable god. I just hated the reasoning as to why he nearly thought about killing Ben Solo. To me it didn't make any sense, as it wasn't believable enough. It pretty much contradicts everything that happened in ROTJ.
I'm glad you said this. I'm actually one of those people who loves Luke in The Last Jedi. He made mistakes and had to remember who he was again. I still wish he didn't die, but we will see him in Episode 9 and maybe we will see him show off force ghost abilities that were hinted at with Yoda. The Last Jedi is still a flawed movie, but I still think it's good not great.
DJ idk, Mark's definitely made it seem like he's not exactly wanting to return to role since The trio can't come back together. If I were a betting man I'd put it at like 60/40 in favor of Mark Retiring from the role. I don't think his reluctance has much to do with his comments about Rians take on Luke, since he has kinda withdrawn his objections to Rian's version of Luke.
I feel like he will and then he can act the way people wanted him to act. That would please the fans and it would make sense. Just throw money at him lol. We will have to wait and see.
Luke would destroy yoda in seconds. In legends Luke was a god even more than the likes of legends Darth sidious. But would be a serious badass battle would be legends Luke vs legends Darth sidious. God vs god
He would beat Sidious before his prime, just as he did when his potential was released for a short period of time. His force essence was overpowering Sidious own when he didn't have control of his potential
Reading through the walls of comments about EU Luke being overpowered is tiring. Here why Luke is very strong, he trained for years to achieve to that level and he isnt overpowered just he is the Yoda of his time. Like Kyle Katarn is the Dooku of his time, Like Jaina Solo is the Mace Windu of her time. Remember EU Luke is literally the embodiment of what Anakin could have been if he is a Jedi master. In the Last Jedi, He is powerful but broken. He is literally the Old hermit/Obi wan/Yoda during exile. I see why these two jedi master never rose up fight once more is due to the Propaganda machine Siduous used to defame the Jedi, even if they kill Siduous and Vader. There will be a civil war and huge outcry. The Jedi would never rise again for some time due to public hate. The only way for the Jedi to be cleared of charges is when there a Rebellion happening. But when that happened, same shit happens again and Luke did something out of character. Jedi dead again somehow......More loopholes and disapointing ending coming soon. Episode 7,8 leaves a bitter taste for me. It like "Stop being good. Be evil. It better this way. "
I had waited so long for this fight. I just came across this video again after a while and remembered when I requested it. In hindsight, I think we all knew legends Luke would stomp 😂 out of character anyway. The Grandmasters, the greatest of their time, but Luke surpassed Yoda long ago. Not to say that Yoda is a slouch, quite the contrary, he learned all there was in the order and took all those teachings to their highest degree, but Luke transcended his teachings on every front. Keep in mind Yoda had 800 years to master all those skills. Luke had surpassed Yoda in his skills before he turned 60.
God I wish we got Grandmaster Luke in the movies... I'm so sad that we didn't get to see that. They could've just explored the Legends books and used them for books.
This fight wouldn't come down to who's the better martial artist. It would be light saber skills, and force ability. Yoda stood toe to toe with Darth Tyrannous and Sidious. Neither of them could beat the almost 900 year old Yoda. No one who Luke fought is in those two Sith league.
Sith create blackholes and devour life off a planet. Jedi controlling a blackhole through great focus of power isnt very far fetched. Luke is basically like Yoda in his use of the force but he is far more practical and cunning in his use but refrained. EU Luke's use of the Force is influenced by his masters and foes. EU Luke isn't overpowered just he has faced powerful foes during his younger day and kind of learn from mistakes. His martial skills is literally top tier for a reason. He fought Vader, Siduous, spar with Yoda and many other Masters. This guy fought with many of the best and have odds stacked against him. Obviously he will become that skilled due to those encounters and against the Vong. His force senses are dulled but not his physical senses and instincts. Martial artists honed their senses very fiercely to be able to anticipate attacks from all sides and he still can apply force attacks and augmentation. The Vongs are resistant to the Force, Luke simply finds ways to bypass the resistance. Skill not power that allow him to overwhelm the Vongs.
Biggest criticism is you used ssj3 goku for final form instead of ssj4 lol.(and God is newer but weaker and not later in timeline). Great video. I see grandmaster Luke winning.
Awesome video brother, glad to see another Star Wars vs video. You really do your research. What is the first book of the series if I wanted to read about The Vong war
Kit Fisto vs Galen Marek. Antares Draco vs Shado Vao. Quigon Jinn vs Wolf Sazen. Lucien Draay vs Lord Vindican. Darth Venamis vs Darth Maul ( TPM) . Quinlan Vos ( legends) Vs Jaden Korr. Rham Kota vs Darth Azard. Ki Audi Mundi vs Agen Kolar.
The book that reveals luke to know shatterpoint made pretty clear that it is a normal technique which is not limited to special talents like healing n only rare cuz it wasn't taught often. Given yodas age alone, it can b taken as a given that he at least knew how to use it in theory, which means he coild do so in praxis cuz knowing how was all that was needed.
Top marks as always, and I agree. Though I may have given Yoda a chance in hell to break past Luke's defense in a blitz, at the very start of their fight, because as you said, Luke doesn't bring his full power right at the start. We have see Yoda use full power right at the start of his fights before.
Only against Sidious and we have more instances of Luke bringing the full blow from the start namely against Caedus, Abeloth and Sarasu Taalon. If it's that Luke Yoda would fall very fast
If Grandmaster Luke and Grandmaster Yoda tested their blades and their powers against one another, who would come out on top?

You know, a good idea for a matchup would be Darth Vader vs Mother Talzin, taking Expanded Universe feats for Darth Vader.
I would explode with Squee if you pitted Darth Bane vs Yoda.
Marinanor
He already did.
Luke: “The Circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now I am the master.”
Yoda: “A master of the EU, you only are Luke.”
to be a Master of the EU, no higher praise can there be
The EU is the niiman of Star Wars. It’s versatile but since it doesn’t technically exist, one would be the master of nothing.
😂😂😂
He is powerful in canon also
@Rōnin of course not as powerful but still probably the most powerful force user
EU Luke: *becomes one with the force, manipulates black holes with the force*
Canon Luke: *uses “Force Skype” and dies because of it*
Yeah cause the Canon version isn't an overpowered god
Also cuts himself off the force
Yea EU Luke, would man handle anyone let’s be honest
@Prod. Toni Awe Canon Luke is also insane. He pulled a star destroyer out of orbit and force projected across the galaxy despite having just reconnected to the force
@@orbaitv5991 no, but Palpatine is
Legends Luke also known as:
Jedi Jesus
LOL

That's obi wan

Looking forward to more Versus matches!
Does this mean kylo ren has surpassed luke
And Yoda would likely be proud of how well Luke kept to his morals.
The outcome is highly debatable.
@@andrijagudelj2835 Hell No
Love how you explained the fight.
Well, he did have to rebuild the jedi, almost from scratch.
I mean I feel that Vader definitely had a “hand” in making Luke into the hero he became.
@@ONTOE0 a good thing Luke turned out all 'right'
So he became a Gary Stu in concept pretty much

Hear legends not the sequel movies instant like
Depends on Opinion tbh
Idk how you could like Sequel Luke over Legends Luke. Not even talking trash on the sequels but legendsLuke is better in practically every single way.
In my opinion, Legends Luke was just not what ROTJ Luke would want to become, Neither is Canon luke, but it's closer to what i think it would be
to be honest after the Thrawn Trilogy legends Luke was always dull to me since basically he became a force God who outstripped everyone with ease. Caonon Luke to me was far more interesting as a character even if I think the way they handled his becoming a hermit poorly
I prefer Legends Luke, the only reason to like Sequel Luke is because Mara Jade was trash, and Jedi shouldn't marry.
Legends Luke is just way too overpowered. It would be nice to have gotten some cannon stories/movies that are a more realistic version of legends Luke and not the "sit on my hands and mope about" Luke of The Last Jedi.
Aaron William Cox Actually, Legends Luke did feel guilty about kiling Lumiya in anger for believing she murdered Mara Jade, so.....
Aaron Pharaoh he’s way too overpowered because he’s the son of the chosen one, and a chosen one himself, the force chose him to be the most powerful force user in galactic history. Legends Luke is overpowered for a good reason, and I think he should be
Yes, cuz he manipulated a black hole
Amon vs Zaheer had the same outcome. Also, I’m the only one that uses a 10-victory system.
@@AntoineBandele Unlike Yoda we know when Luke’s prime was. And how powerful he was Yoda we don’t know when his prime was and how powerful he was I feel like in his prime he might be much quicker and much better with the lightsaber then he was in his old age

Excellent work Antoine
I would actually like to hear how you would have written Luke in the new canon
That does sound like an interesting idea. Maybe in a Geek Talk video.
Fallen Knight Tyler 007 agreed
Fallen Knight Tyler 007 That would be a very interesting video!!! :)
Better, he would write Luke better.
I think Luke was right where he should be withing the context of the new canon
Great video! My interest in Star Wars have been low since TLJ but this video really brought back feelings for the franchise.
Bo C Same man. :)
Check out Star Wars Theory's fan film. Darth Vader: A Star Wars Theory Fan Film Series Episode I: Shards of the Past.
Awesome video! I miss your versus series!!!!! I prefer the Legends Luke over the Disney Canon Hermit Luke.
I'd like to imagine there's a scenario where Grandmaster Luke and Yoda can have a friendly duel :)
Damn, I missed our old Grandmaster.
I can't count how many times I've watched this. God, I love this and all of your VS Matches
i appreicate your fair and balanced analysis in this and all your other versus series videos, I also appreicate all the work of the other people who do these videos as they put time and effort in to make them and they do give a thoughtful and well presented analysis along with source material to match them.
Try to imagine what Legends Grand Master Luke would be like if he had the take no bulls#@*t, go hard from the start attitude of Mace Windu.
All boks would be 3 pages long, except the one where he fights Abeloth and there they would proceed at normal lenght.
And that's only because she's 12x his power.

Luke during the Vong War has a quote stating he had never been more powerful. That would include his Sidious stomping state in DE.
DE Sids>RotJ Sids>RotS Sids>Yoda.
GM Luke takes this with effort but little difficulty.
DB6195 Was that when he was in a Oneness state or his baseline? Also "stomp" is a bit much
William Henning There's so many misconceptions floating around about that fight I might just make a blog about it
Great Video man!
His contention with a Clone Palpatine (and better version of Palpatine) before Luke’s prime is a prime reason.
Zaluk Yeah, Luke defeated DE Sidious faster than Yoda defeated RotS Sidious
it can also be said that Sidious didn't want to bother with lightsabers anymore so he ditched it to instead get a force based contest.
@@itsjonny1744 Yoda disarmed Sidious.
This match-up really reminds me of Shifu vs Tai-Lung from Kung Fu Panda 1, with a smaller, more experienced speedster losing, because his stronger, more crafty opponent can also keep up with his speed.

You're the fucking best Antoine.
“I actually never liked Luke in the Legends continuity all that much.”
That must have made for some interesting conversations with EvanNova.
I don't think he'd care all that much. He didn't seem all that shaken by TLJ. I thought he'd say more about that character in our review.
His performance was fine. The writing for his character however ...
Antoine Bandele true

Sidious uses Physical Augmentation better than Yoda.
I agree.
Because the darkside is more combative
I disagree, thinking of how old Yoda is, from the prequel and onwards, he is far beyond his physical prime and is in the twilight zone of his life, the last 40/50 years basically. Yodas Ataru is defined by his physical augmentation which also makes up for his extremely frail body and gnomish stature to such an extreme that he is most likely the single greatest Ataru practitioner in galactic history. Sidious is among the greatest in Physical Augmentation but i think Yoda has a slight edge in this respect.

33:01 Did you say Yoda on accident? Is that why Luke was put over your mouth and you were bleeped with astromech droid beeps?
As always, wonderful video Antoine!
Yep. That's exactly what happened. Lol.
best thing to listen to while playing Galaxy of Heroes.
also: wow, clean sweep; some fights on this channel were mismatches, but this has to be the first clean sweep in history. I seriously have trouble believing this
*Luke is defeated by palpatine in lightsaber combat when he’s resurrected*
*Luke only barely wins their second duel when boosted by Leia’s force harmony*
*Yoda disarms palpatine In revenge of the Sith and redirects force lightning back at him*
And the winner is Luke
Me: “visible confusion”
We are examining Luke later in his life. The Luke who fought, survived and won the Yuuzhan Vong War. The Luke who defeated Abeloth (with the help of Darth Krayt, but the Grandmaster did most of the work), the embodiment of Chaos
That Luke is DE Luke and is much weaker than GM Luke. And DE Luke battled Palpatine AT HIS PRIME.
Haven't seen one of these in a while, I love them. Keep up the good work man.
Top notch writing and design of the video. :)
My problem with EU Luke is that I just don't see him having the inclination to master umpteen different forms of martial arts. That's not where his natural talents or interests lie. And even if he wanted to do it, he wouldn't have had time, given all the missions he did for the NR as well as single-handedly reestablishing the Jedi Order. The writers made him Yoda + Kenobi + Mace rolled into one instead of just writing Luke Skywalker as Luke Skywalker.
yep, they removed all the parts of his personality that made him interesting
I can see him learning all of those martial arts recreationally. Luke loves to learn from others. But I do agree he borders Gary Stu levels.
yah, the only thing that really keeps him from being a Gary Stu is that he is the son of the Chosen One...and basically has the same Force potential as Anakin.
As always, fantastic vid Antoine. You certainly have a knack for picking very interesting match ups :D :D :D
Oh how I hate some of the ridiculousness that happens in the EU.
Luke Skywalker in legends is just too OP looks like Grand Master Yoda finally met his match
I mean yoda in legends is technically op too when you consider he lifted a mountain
Love this video Antoine. Mans killed it! You should do more EU videos. Gotta keep its memory alive!
I really liked your assumption that Luke was using Niman with his Djem So working like Soresu.
Mostly based on the principles of the NJO. I feel like most of them were Niman specialists.
Antoine Bandele I've never read anything post RotJ aside from Legacy comics and Leviathan.

You should do The Phantom Menace Darth Maul VS. The Clone Wars Mando. Darth Maul.
Great to see a return to form with this versus video Antoine.
This is where the fun begins
Amazing video. Even though I already knew Grand Master Skywalker would win, you explained really well why Luke holds all the edges over Yoda. For the next video, how about Darth Caedus v. Yoda, battle of the second most powerful Sith and Jedi, or Darth Caedus v. Darth Plagueis?
Will this fight end with Yoda's death though? Or will Luke find a way to spare his life while still winning?
Likely no death.

Shaak Ti or Plo Koon vs Darth Maul
Mother Talzin vs Mace Windu
Ahsoka vs Grevious
Kit Fisto vs Savage Opress
Darth Maul and Savage vs Kit Fisto and Plo Koon
Boba Fett vs Ben Kenobi
Qui Gon vs Ki Adi Mundi
And also if u wanna mix it up:
Pre Vizsla vs Embo(Plus his Anooba)
Captain Rex vs Aurra Sing
As much as I love Rex, he doesn't have a chance against someone capable of facing off with mid to upper-tier Jedi Knights.
wristofkings thx for the feedback, and that’s prime EU Boba vs Ben
I stand behind Old Ben winning against Prime Boba, though it wouldn't be an easy fight. I see it more likely for Fett to try to pick Kenobi off from a distance or with an ambush rather than face him on equal ground.

Antoine Bandele why did you hate krayt? Not that I fault you or anything.
+Antoine Bandele I get it but its a shame since I love Krayt.
Also wasn't DE Luke amped by Leia when he beat Sidous?
wally west
Yeah, in my opinion, it would be closer than most people would realize. Luke Skywalker does outclass Yoda, in terms of
Force-abilities. Luke has telekinetically manipulated a
black-hole, created astral-projections from across the galaxy ( in both the Expanded Universe and the New Canon ), reduced armies of Yuzahn Vong to ash, with Force-lightning and even achieved oneness, with the Force and reverted to a being of pure
light-energy. Yoda has used the Force to extend his lifespan for centuries, tossed aside Senate-pods, with the Force, defeated Asajj Ventress, with a simple gesture, turning off her twin lightsabers, with the Force, had knowledge of Serenity, a
Force-ability that allowed the practitioner to actually grow stronger with the Force, through meditation and even managed to temporarily contain Darth Sidious'
Force-lightning, with Tutaminis.
Yoda also managed to disarm Darth Sidious, a master of all seven forms of lightsaber combat, during their duel, in the
Senate-chamber, even though it wasn't depicted, in the movie.
Luke won the duel on the Anakin Solo not at 100% and we can be confident he would win more handily at 100%.
yay always wanted to see this video
Loved it. Worth the anticipation. Awesome job. Would you ever consider doing a Sidious Dark Empire iteration vs Valkorion?
Luke would destroy yoda in seconds. In legends Luke was a god even more than the likes of legends Darth sidious.
But would be a serious badass battle would be legends Luke vs legends Darth sidious. God vs god
God? Abeloth is far above than Luke and Sidious.
@@thecrimsonlord8589
I mean hes a God compare to any other Jedi or sith I not talking about God's demons or spirits

@@itsjonny1744
Yeah well so would other Jedi for that matter
no Sidious would beat everyone else than Luke for a solid majority or 10/10 wins
Great work as always!
How you don’t have over 1 million subs is beyond me
I had waited so long for this fight. Luke had surpassed Yoda in his skills before he turned 60.
great vids as always
Another good work Antoine. I would like to suggest a VS series episode: Valkorion vs Grand Master Luke or Darth Sidious?
I rather not deal with the Valkorion fanboys who can’t separate gameplay mechanics from concrete feats.
ABOUT TIME
Really good video I couldnt wait for this one to come out. Also could you do Kanan Jarrus vs Rahm Kota?
Kanan is no match for Kota.
Bro awesome video as always 😆
God I wish we got Grandmaster Luke in the movies... I'm so sad that we didn't get to see that. They could've just explored the Legends books and used them for books.
This fight wouldn't come down to who's the better martial artist. It would be light saber skills, and force ability. Yoda stood toe to toe with Darth Tyrannous and Sidious. Neither of them could beat the almost 900 year old Yoda. No one who Luke fought is in those two Sith league.
This is books luke after the movies
It’s back! Yay
amazing video bro
👍
This was the last Star Wars vs series? Wow. Little did we know this was the Series finale. I miss the Star Wars vs series
Honestly I only watch Antoine Bandele versus series not a fan of the other ones
Off topic but I just had to say it as soon as you popped on screen.
I am wearing the same shirt as you were, albeit a different color. :p
Good job. I liked this video. Grandmaster Luke ragdolls i think.
You made it sound like Grandmaster Luke could defeat Darth Sidious, Darth Vader and Darth Plaugeis at the same time 😭
Based on his feats, he probably could.
He could
Biggest criticism is you used ssj3 goku for final form instead of ssj4 lol.(and God is newer but weaker and not later in timeline). Great video. I see grandmaster Luke winning.
Awesome video brother, glad to see another Star Wars vs video. You really do your research. What is the first book of the series if I wanted to read about The Vong war
New Jedi Order: Vector Prime.
Great intro
Kit Fisto vs Galen Marek. Antares Draco vs Shado Vao. Quigon Jinn vs Wolf Sazen. Lucien Draay vs Lord Vindican. Darth Venamis vs Darth Maul ( TPM) . Quinlan Vos ( legends) Vs Jaden Korr. Rham Kota vs Darth Azard. Ki Audi Mundi vs Agen Kolar.
Legends/EU Luke would have been Yoda if he took inspiration from Qui-Gon
The book that reveals luke to know shatterpoint made pretty clear that it is a normal technique which is not limited to special talents like healing n only rare cuz it wasn't taught often.
Given yodas age alone, it can b taken as a given that he at least knew how to use it in theory, which means he coild do so in praxis cuz knowing how was all that was needed.
the outcome was obvious, but thanks for showcasing the Real Grandmaster Luke
Top marks as always, and I agree. Though I may have given Yoda a chance in hell to break past Luke's defense in a blitz, at the very start of their fight, because as you said, Luke doesn't bring his full power right at the start. We have see Yoda use full power right at the start of his fights before.
Only against Sidious and we have more instances of Luke bringing the full blow from the start namely against Caedus, Abeloth and Sarasu Taalon. If it's that Luke Yoda would fall very fast
