@Rev2.9 I don't believe that to be the case for the places showcased here, maybe you're right when it comes down to the numbers, but simply looking around i see mostly old exteriors on the buildings. I get lost simply looking up during my trips around Nørreport for example. And the very large buildings like castles, famous libraries etc are all preserved of course.

Turn this into VR and you my friend have a TIME MACHINE!!! This feels like the first time I saw the internet. I didn't truly comprehend what I was seeing. This is truly remarkable. It brings the past to the present!!
Now that would be amazing. I have never tried VR and I'm 33 (can't afford a headset LOL), but I can't wait for a day when we can do this like you said, or even visit famous museums and landmarks like we are standing right there. I know people are working on it as we speak.

Thinking that I'm watching people who were born around mid to end of 1850s just blows my mind! This is the closest we get to a time machine! Really amazing ❤
For now. Eventually they'll figure out a way to generate videos of places and people from scratch. It'll probably take quantum computing or maybe additional gains in "AI" though.
@@emmettkeyser1110 I can picture virtual reality 10-20 years from now allowing people to journey around cities and places in the past. Think of something like the assain's creed games but then make it almost 100% life-like. You want to know what it was like at the invasion of Normandy? You will! You want to watch the Hindenburg disaster like you were standing in the crowd? Now you can! It is just a matter of time.
Great, I think this is because Danish people and his authorities keep their traditions, I really liked your country, and interested to visit it in the futur, greetings from the United States, and exactly from New Jersey.
It’s kinda cool when you see an old man with a grey beard on that theme park train and realize that he was probably born in 1850’s and actually lived most of his productive life in the 19th century.
"Beautiful Denmark" is a very appropriate description of this film. I would go further and say Idyllic Denmark as much of the architecture is magnificent and the people are so well-mannered. Superb restoration of the film - very natural.👍😄
I'm happy that so many of those buildings still exist, and you can still ride Tivoli's classic rollercoaster "Den Gamle Rutsjebane" seen at 1:01. I've stood where those smiling people were waving at the rollercoaster from, and tried the ride several times, and the only distinctive change in that scene is how people are dressed. It creates a deep connection to the past, to think that we share many sights and attractions with people who were there over a hundred years ago. Times change, but some things didn't change much at all. Some things outlived people, and connected us over time. If that rollercoaster could transport me to the past to meet the people seen in this incredible restored footage, I'd be sure to have something experiential of Copenhagen in common with them.
I've always loved these AI upscaled and enhanced old footage, but i've never clicked faster on a video when i saw it was my own country! I watched the whole thing in awe and i recognized most of the places! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you :) I would love to produce more, but it is quiet costly both time and money wise. And until now youtube does not want to monetize this channel :(
I think it must be remade. Speed of movements clearly failed here, it's not 60fps which everyone see. Colors still far away, but the speed was the only thing algorithms making good, maybe later color can be made more accurately. Here speed is broken, so the value is near zero.
Absolutely the best enhancement I have ever seen! Especially on a few segments that look to be from 1900. As if they were filmed yesterday! It not hard to see why sunny, southerly CopenHagen was admired by all Scandinavians. Without this film it would be impossible to imagine a city where horses worked in tandem with cars, trams and bicycles. No signs of half-starved, overworked horses that show up in similar vintage films from some other countries. I wonder if viewers fully understand how much work goes into getting these enhancements so realistic. It's not just a matter of apps and a few clicks. Out there somewhere on UA-cam is a spot that shows details of colorizing. If I understand it correctly, there's an easier way with one or two layers. But, the most realistic results come from applying more and more layers, with patience and a good eye for what's most natural. Of course all of this compilation predates the advent of sound, 1927. What has been added here is close to perfection: crashing waves, sounds of an outdoor market, birds singing in a park, the music of an amusement park ... yust every possible detail. Thank you again. Looking forward to every new instalment.
It is however strange how there is a total absence of certain colors, especially red. The Danish flag shown many times is supposed to be red, not blue! here brown and blue dominate, else it's amazing to watch.
@@_Everyone__ Sadly, that will always happen with colorized film. I don't know much about the process, so don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure it is impossible to guess what black and white colors originally were, and most of the time the crew will go off of the average pallet of the time period, doing their best. I don't even think the best AI in the world 100 years from now could put real original color back in colorless films :(
Thank you for the trip back in time, to see beautiful Denmark. As a modern day amateur UA-camr making high quality walking videos from Denmark, this is fascinating. It would be cool to make a comparison video side by side with these old clips, from the exact places, 103 years ago 🤔🙂 Again, thank you for the restoration of this incredible footage 🙏🏻
Amazing how tidy it looks compared to today. Denmark is still pretty tidy, but you can sense the rot creeping in in Copenhagen, in places. Many parts are starting to look as grubby as Berlin.
You wouldn't see much change in the buildings in the centre of Copenhagen, I would guess that 90% of them are still there. Major changes are in the infrastructure, roadways etc.
The main thing I notice is the level of activity. I always thought it was the playback speed, but looking at this closely I really think there is a difference in how people move around like they are in a hurry or can't be bothered.
Wow this is amazing, as a dane im really surprised that the streets, buildings & nature looks way more clean and beatiful than today! The picture in my head was running sewers on the streets with horse remains everywhere.
One thing to consider is population. There's an extra 2.6 million people living in Denmark now, living standards have improved and getting something like snacks while out of the house would be infinitely more feasible and easy accessible to everyone than it was back then. Likewise, the nature in Denmark is still freaking marvelous - Living in West Zealand I'm fairly close to bigger cities, but never more than a few minutes away from picturesque scenery.
The gravitas ! Those magnificent buildings and people looked so dignified and impressive with their clothing and hats. Now we just slouch around in hoodies and trainers at all ages !

I surprised, how little have changed in Copenhagen. Maybe the bikes more modern, fashion changed a bit, and not so many horses. But the buildings and rushhours is the same. Agriculture, fishery and docks changed a lot i think, they used to be so labour intensive.
Exactly... I was thinking the same. It all looks very much like we see it now. The vintage cars, horses and clothes are obviously the exception, but otherwise it just looks surpisingly normal. I was expecting things to be much different.
You have restored this marvelous footage with spectacular results. Thank you for sharing it with UA-cam. The images are so colourful, crisp and vivid in places. A time of environmental purity, though admittedly, in the aftermath of the First World War.

These pictures are extraordinary. I see them with strange feelings of nostalgia and melancholy !? My great and grandparents and mother as a child would be ghosts living in these times. And then the dark clouds of history swept over them, the great grandparents didn’t survive.
I'm not Danish (Scottish) but still found this film enchanting ... it was interesting to see how life was 100 years ago ... so much was the same yet lots of differences too ... a charming little film ... and ps your country is beautiful.
I won the lottery being born in Denmark! I love my country, thanks for this beautiful restoration. Many of the views in this video is still present to this Day in its exact form, the old rollercoaster as example is still rideable and copenhagen central station has not changed thst much either. Edit: my hometown Fredensborg is also present in this video! Wow 😊 the castle of Fredensborg and the Kongebroen 12:49
Hej All! At 17.45 shows the pontonbridge from Aalborg to Nørresundby! And after that the Old railwaybridge! The White building in the background was Hotel Royal! The building is still there! Now used as appartments! You Can also see Nørresundby Church! Me and my wide Got married there in 1986! Great film! Love it! Hans-Jørn Mortensen!
19:19 that is in Odense 😮I think it is called Sankt Knuds kirke , Ive walked past this view many time , thank you for showing us all these wonderful bits of Danish history. So much guessing and recognizing
These fixes to old footage are utterly fantastic. They make history so much more relatable and tangible. Much better than the grainy, black and white, wrong speed films we used to watch. Everything is so much more human. I might often have thought that people had to squeeze into those suits and dresses reluctantly, or consider them uncomfortable, same with the beach wear, but nothing of the sort, people look so natural, (naturally lol), with real agency and character just like today (of course lol) but it was always missing from the old clips which removed you even further from the humanity of people in the past. These clips however bring it that back. I hope all the film ever shot pre 1930 for example, can get the same treatment in time and affirm that people of the past were literally exactly like us and dispel the idea latent in most people today that our tech advances somehow makes us superior humans with superior lifestyles. They don't. And what a great place to live, quaint idyllic towns, beautiful architecture, life at human pace, purposeful physical work, little tourism, little over crowding. Oh well.
Thye were not though. The Great War had just ended and only two decades later, the Holocaust started. When this footage was shot, it was only 5 years ago women were given the right to wote.
You took my word right out of my mouth, im danish and proud to be, but we live in a sick world today, i would love to live in 1920 or back in my childhood, rather than this sick work where everything is about power and corruption in a scale never matched bf
Streets full of people, cyclists and streetcars, almost no cars. A century later people believe its a human right to go by car everywhere. Thanks for the restauration of these films.
Thanks for making this possible to watch, funny to see, my grandmother was 11 yo back then growing up in Fredriksberg Copenhagen, with parents owning a butcher shop and my granfather being a sea captain at Gothland.
Absolutely love the old gentleman waving his hat everyone on the Rollercoaster.. And they all wave back, lovely. Those cliff side houses must be all long gone
How beautiful!! Everyone looks so stylish. Wish I can see that now. Looks like a fairy tale. They look happier than people today. Buildings are so beautiful. So much nicer than any modern building.

at 8:27 the "cliffs" have fallen way more back and 1/3 of the church because of the cliff falling, is now gone and in the ocean, its really fascinating to see how it all looked back then as a Dane.
I have recently visited our capitol....wonderfull København. A lot...a lot! looks exactly the same. Todays cars fill up a lot....and tourists! But never the less..... København is a spectacular city!!

the steam boat at 15:30 is still operating today. You can even see sky mountain in the distance at the top of the hill. Looking closer at it i can tell that its actually the habour in Laven. Its still there and looks similar to the old harbour.
Thank you for this amazing restoration. Great work! It's relaxing to look into the past and recognize much simpler life was then. In many ways, they were better off than we are today.
Parabéns ao canal por esse belo registro histórico somos transportados ao passado é como uma maquina do tempo onde podemos ver o povo daquela época seus costumes, trajes e cenas cotidianas incrível também a qualidade do vídeo !!!! show
Life had quality those days. Women were dressed so nicely. Everyone with his own bicycle was a king. Less vehicles on the road and more people. A small boat was faster than tram. People looked so happy. Younger and elderly both were fascinated by camera. Beautiful architecture and infrastructure.
Fascinating!! Particularly like the chap walking bottom left right at the beginning of the video, with his right arm on his hip. Obviously wants to be looked at!!
Around 3.30 minutes or so the the ladies on the quayside selling fish ....my dad born 1923 said he remembered going down to the waterside in Sunderland (the river wear) with his mam to buy fish and the ladies there were dressed in a very similar way......the skirts the shawls tucked in....... the head wear was a head scarf with a flat cap over the top and some of them had clay pipes.....😊......such a beautiful video ....
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing - and thank you for the immense work done to restore this precious footage. One little thing: I don't think the artifical colouring does much. The blue flags at 13:00 are outright amusing. (Someone should teach your AI what the Danish flag looks like 😄)
As a "late-life" only child, I grew up with this music. My parents were born in 1920 and 1921, and Dad served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. They played this music constantly in our home, and I consider it part of my soul. God bless you Mom and Dad!
Wow, it's really wonderful, it was very very beautiful, and until now Denmark is very beautiful country, greetings from the United States, exactly from New Jersey.😍✌
I am just amazed how you find and add the ambient "noise" since this video was taken without sound, right? You must have a huge foley gallery. This one @26:31 min. et seq. is obviously funny with the forest birds singing in an amputated tree branches trees cobblestone street.
I watched your video "Amazing Restored Variety Show from the early 1940s" and I got nostalgic to an era I wasn't even born yet. Great to see old videos colorized and enhanced, it really brings the viewer back in time. I hope, if it's okay, could you colorize and enhance old videos of Manila from year 1930s?

@@thegamer813 That was Copenhagen, of course there were non ethnic people in Copenhagen 100 years back, but Artificial Intelligence colorizing a video does not care about ethnicity. But yes, not as many as when immigration really started back in 1950 / 1960.

'Times change, but some things didn't change much at all. ' - what a wonderfully original observation...
yeah you would have alot more in common with these folks ,then you have with the ppl hanging around there today...
It’s just “Rutsjebanen”.
“Den Gamle” seems like you’ve been influenced by watching this :)
I took that ride this year as well and I almost cried. too scary for me😂
That Ferris wheel ride immediately after at @1:36 looks way too fragile.

I've always loved these AI upscaled and enhanced old footage, but i've never clicked faster on a video when i saw it was my own country! I watched the whole thing in awe and i recognized most of the places! Thanks for sharing!!
Sadly the colours are all wrong! The trams were a yellow ochre-ish colour, not dark blue! And the buildings are all wrong coloured too.
Beautiful Denmark! Greetings from Finland!
I think Denmark is very beautiful as well. I look forward to more videos like this

Very good quality, the remaster is super successful! I'd love to have more of it!
I agree with you that the remaster is supper successful. I love the work that was done to make this video.
life looks so simple and slower than today we live so fast..
Because of the cars
Absolutely wonderful. My ancestors were from Denmark. It’s so nice to see their lives in color. A blessing for me.
Thank you so much for sharing. 💕
It would be cool to make a comparison video side by side with these old clips, from the exact places, 103 years ago 🤔🙂
Again, thank you for the restoration of this incredible footage 🙏🏻
That would indeed be interesting :)
Amazing how tidy it looks compared to today. Denmark is still pretty tidy, but you can sense the rot creeping in in Copenhagen, in places. Many parts are starting to look as grubby as Berlin.
@@vernonhedge4530 Lucky I live in aarhus. It looks nearly the exact same in 90% of the places here.
Likewise, the nature in Denmark is still freaking marvelous - Living in West Zealand I'm fairly close to bigger cities, but never more than a few minutes away from picturesque scenery.
i didn't expect my hometown to be in this video, "Fredensborg" its really fascinating to see how different yet the same everything looks.
I’m 53 and my grandmother that raised me is still alive. April 15, 1920. 104 😎
The gravitas ! Those magnificent buildings and people looked so dignified and impressive with their clothing and hats. Now we just slouch around in hoodies and trainers at all ages !
no billboards, no graffitis, not a cellphone in sight... no agressivity. truly was another epoch
do you think mixing of races has helped or hurt society
@@PeaceToAll-sl1db It is destroying our civilization.
@@PeaceToAll-sl1db it has hurt.
I agree. And UA-cam censors poltically incorrect comments.
No aggressiveness? There was plenty of it. In many ways it was worse. It's just not what they chose to film.

Thank you for your patient and beautiful work ! This document is exceptional…
Oh well.

Fantastic! I still recognize places as I lived in Copenhagen 11 years...However some Danish my complain about blue and greenish Dannebrog (Danish flag)
*Some Danes.
🇩🇰🇩🇰 🇩🇰 !!!!
This feels like timetravelling. There’s a slightly dreamy quality to this footage.
So amazingly interesting to watch as a Dane. Everything so recognizable. Except: almost no cars, no fat people, no rush, everyone in nice clothes.
No graffiti (you are beginning to import that wholesale).
@@thegamer813 darn those pesky swedes or germans
@@thegamer813 That was Copenhagen, of course there were non ethnic people in Copenhagen 100 years back, but Artificial Intelligence colorizing a video does not care about ethnicity. But yes, not as many as when immigration really started back in 1950 / 1960.
And most noticeably: No phones.
Sounds like yall think life was better in those days! :D
One of the cleanest cities I have ever been to.Wish I could of met Hans Christian Anderson alive as I visited his grave sight in Copenhagen. It was beautiful with Pansies allover......
It's always so strange to look at videos where you know that every single person shown now lies buried in the ground.
It gives this (unfortunately) rare realization of being alive right here right now.
Die Person ja aber nicht die Seele! Die Seele kann in unserer Epoche inkarniert sein!?
Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing it.
