I always find Essy to be a steadfast but kindhearted educator. He wants the best for people. Thanks Rip for another fantastic interview.

Dr Esselstyn is the most humble and genuine peroson. It is always so great to hear him talking. He has done so much for other people, but talks to us as a father not a preacher.

One of my happiest days was in 2012 when Rip Esselstyn came to Naples FL to speak at our Whole Foods....standing room only....it was SO awesome! I adore Dr. Essy...I've been plant strong since 2010 and feel like I'm 32...actual age is 62.

I learned about Dark Leafy Greens when I was Macrobiotic in the early 80s. Didn't impress me enough, I guess, to stick with it 100%, but I did remain vegetarian, and eventually found Dr. Esselstyn on UA-cam. I'm so stubborn, or maybe stupid. If I know why, I'm much more likely to stay focused and eat correctly. Needless to say, I'm old now, but am still enthused each time I hear this talk. Maybe not impressed enough to eat a fist sized bowl of greens 6 times a day... still learning. Thanks for teaching me. I love you all. You have really made a big difference in my health and life.

Rip, I am so sympathetic to you in regard to your injury. It can happen to anyone, even WFPB folks. You will heal quickly. Please let "Dr. Esse" know that the reminder about greens and especially chewing chewing chewing greens was well needed. Since I only cook for myself, I can get in a starch rut. Thank you both and the Ladies for all you do.

Super talk, thanks for sharing all this info...I have been trying to talk to people in my community about guarding themselves against covid with food...but I think I will just refer them to this video chat instead. Your family is so wonderful !!

Dr. Esselstyn kindly called me years ago when I had REALLY bad hypoglycemia that made me temporarily quit being vegan (which broke my heart). I missed his call, but it was so kind of him to actually call me after I'd emailed him.

Thanks Rip. Great podcast. I'd like to hear more about eating or not eating avocado. He alluded to not liking them when he was talking about nuts, but didn't give any details. I'll be watching and listening.

Question: What's your thought on glyphosate in our food, especially almonds and to a lesser degree, soy? I watched a video by Dr. Eric Berg DC and learned about glyphosate. I'm not a doctor, but I'm thinking by eating a whole food plant based diet should counter the glyphosate that may be in our food, especially if we eat organic. Interested to hear your thoughts.

Oh dear, my government has been adding fluoride into our tap water for decades to prevent tooth decay. Hope you recover soon from your injury. Your dad is super cool! He should be nominated for the Nobel prize for all the lives he saved.

How do canned greens compare with fresh greens? I have found a wonderful brand of chopped kale from Germany supplied in jars that I enjoy.

lol I have been brushing my tongue as well teeth with Crest fluoride toothpaste....at least I stopped using Colgate Total toothpaste (has antibacterial ingredient) several years ago. would like more information on ideal tooth care in conjunction with this greens chewing 6x a day...how bad is it to have vinegar remain in mouth/teeth? Gargle a bit with water after done chewing greens? So cannot brush with baking soda as soda is alkaline. Maybe just mechanical brushing with plain mint water? Rip, how do YOU brush your teeth?? (next weeks podcast might answer all these questions due to the guest speaker)

Please don't listen to that. Fluoride is fine. I honestly can't believe this guy insinuated that it isn't.

Guess I can make a big batch of chewing boiled greens put in refrig take out fist sized ball of greens 6x a day...microwave and reapply vinegar. Not have to cook 6x a day individually! Would help too for trips/camping.

How’s does one measure the amount of nitrous oxide in the body? Also, I make a green smoothie every morning loaded with greens. Does that count or do the greens need to be more in their natural state?

The issue I have is that in order to keep my weight down, I have to eat LOW calorie...so it's hard to get enough of anything, let alone protein. I do take protein supplements because of that. I did hear somewhere that when someone is restricting calories, he/she actually needs a bit extra protein as some gets wasted/burned for fuel. I know Robby B. of Mastering Diabetes has said he never eats nuts/seeds and doesn't take any omega 3 supplements and his blood tests for omega 3 are totally fine. Greens for the win! I will admit that despite taking a strong multivitamin/mineral supplement for eons, I was diagnosed with zinc deficiency for some reason. My body seems to need extra zinc.

So sorry about your mountain biking accident! My husband and I were mountain biking in St. George a month ago and he took a bad fall and now has a Grade 5 AC separation of his right shoulder. It has been torture for him to be down and out for a bit! They wanted him to wait a few weeks to see if he can avoid surgery but it looks like he's now going to have to have surgery and recover from that! No fun!! At least he can hike with me! Good luck, Rip!

Wooah. This is the first time I'm genuinely having doubts about your message. Did your dad really just insinuate that fluoride is toxic? Let's stick to the science please. Seems Dr. Greger is the only PB doctor who hasn't jumped on the pseudoscience bandwagon. Shame.

It’s not pseudoscience- you just need to remove the blinders. Our teenage daughter and younger son have never used fluoride toothpaste and we filter it out of our drinking water. They’ve also both been plant based most of their lives and neither one has cavities.
