It's finally here; meet Tesla's hottest new vehicle - the Tesla Cybertruck. Over four years ago, I went to a mysterious Tesla launch event ( • This is the CyberTruck... ), where the company officially announced the Cybertruck. Fast forward to now, I am behind the wheel of a real customer-owned production truck. So, was it worth the wait? Watch to find out!

The wrap makes a huge difference for me. Much easier on the eyes
Agreed.
@@jon4lakers please you give free video games psvita all games 8tb for me
Agreed.
7:25 Rust, where? Looks like minimal oxidation or residue.
"You can see there are gaps where the doors are" 😂
Shocker! What gives?! Lol
my goodness that wrap looks incredible.
right?
It looks 100% better with that wrap!
100%
I love it as well 😊
A 12v compressor cost $50 and just plug it in on the outlets. That thing will never rust... you would be long gone. It is more resistant to corrosion than 316 stainless.
@9:04 Jon forgot to mention the foot-well is fire proof as he displayed straight HEAT on his feet down there.
STRAIGHT FIRE!!!!!!!!!
HEYO!!!!
there's so many Cybertruck videos that I stopped caring to watch new ones. I'm glad you made one. Your videos are always easy to watch some reason. Thanks, Jon!
Appreciate you!
Ok, the black looks badas! 😂
Futuristic 🌌 Road presence will be 🔥
This was an excellent video review. I favorited it. I will show my folks too. They love Cybertruck.
🙏
He got maybe the best wrap for it I seen
It looks so good in person
Thank you. I love it
@@jon4lakers i think the black wrap mightve been what made the outside so hot to touch
❤ the Jordans🎉 My fave ones. the 4s😊
Gotta love the breds!
Nice video Jon!
🙏
Great video and communication. Need to make a follow up comparing to your R1 as you know it so well. A
Sadly, many will not appreciate all the tech this truck brings to production. They will just complain they hate the looks, price, or whatever. For something so different, it is impressive what they have accomplished. Tesla has a history of making things better as production continues along. The Model 3 from 2018 kept getting changes and upgrades whenever they found something better. It was not until the Highland that updates were not applied quickly. Model years do not mean much to Tesla.
The rust thing is surface and seems to be tied to train transport. Not that I am saying it is not something they should have planned for, because it is not a cheap truck and many assumed the tough body would be a maintenance free. Knowing the factory recommends wiping off finger prints, bug splats, etc, on a daily basis is disappointing. The wrap shown in this video seems like a must if you are not wanting to deal with wiping a truck down after every drive.
The range and towing thing was going to be issue. It would have been nice of Tesla to have noted that long before production got going, because it was clear based on other EV trucks that 500 miles range was going very hard to achieve. I do believe battery tech and other EV innovations will get the Cybertruck to that 500 miles range, but not for a few years.
The wheel covers seemed like another disappointing item. I get when testing the vehicle, those wheel covers were probably not used because it was considered a cosmetic thing. They still should have tested with the covers some and I doubt it would have taken much testing to realize those wheel covers were going to rub against the tires.
With all that said, I still believe Tesla accomplished something amazing. The Cybertruck brings many new tech items to market and might help spark the change to 48 volt systems in all vehicles. This will reduce weight and complexity of vehicles and there are other benefits. Drive by wire is something that we should have in most vehicles. Being able to adjust steering input based on speeds makes sense and is one of thing Cybertruck drivers find useful.
Those not buying the first batch of Cybertrucks should be happy. The ones they will get a couple of years from now will be better than what is being produced now and likely lower retail cost.
all pretty fair points.
Eloquently stated. ❤
Yea, because looks, price and whatever has nothing to do with buying a vehicle.
Can you try the boat mode?
lol. Nope!
What is the name of that Wrap?!
So much space for activities! I really dig the tray-ish glove compartment!
YES!
Those bred 4s for the win
❤🔥❤🔥
8:57 that's what she said
Over the years I realized, this man’s sneaker 👟 game is very low key and 🔥 at the same time!!!
Appreciate you.
Good review, I enjoyed it. I’m interested in how the Cybertruck will age. Will it hit 20 years and 300k miles gracefully like a Tundra? If not, I think many traditional truck buyers are going to pass.
😍😍
What do tow truck drivers do if the truck dies and steering by wire was left in a turned position? Just drag the truck?
the steering uses the 12V i think
It doesn’t just run out of battery like a gas truck would. First it warns you are low and suggests charging stations nearby. If you ignore that and as you run more out of battery it gradually warns you more constantly so that it is impossible to ignore. Even if you get to zero, it will still have a little emergency juice. You would have to be a complete idiot because you can’t even drain battery to full just by driving, the system won’t let you continue driving after a certain point.
@@SurBlox48volt, this is why other cars don’t have steer by wire or rear wheel steering
@@chakmiss my bad, yea 48V
Lets use a real world situation to pretend someone left their tesla in an airport parking lot for a month with the wheel turned. During that month some snow storm comes and kills the batteries. No need for negligence about warnings, it was just parked in a hurry with some charge left and was left to die. If teslas dont let you park with the wheel turned then yeah this is a stupid hypothetical. Does dead/frozen tesla mean dead/frozen steering?
I cannot wait until Jon stops talking about this ColecoVision looking monstrosity.
But you clicked on a video about it?
@@jon4lakers, you know what? That’s a good point.
5:48 do you mean exaggerate? (overexaggerate is not a word)
It's a tautology.
I have always been on the impression that " STAINLESS" steel will be free of stain and above all free of rust. Can some one with an educated opinion on the subject please post a comment? Been using some stainless steel dishes for over 40 years and never sow any traces of rust or deformation.
Hello great park ice
Good eyes!
How is this a review when you've driven it for the first time in the video?
Why do normal humans need such a huge vehicle for daily city use.?
I know this about the Cybertruck, I'd never buy one.......
You gonna get?
I don't think so.
Until you take it for a weekend 😉@@jon4lakers
So much unique information 🙄
If the stainless steel allows a magnet to stick, then it uses more iron than nickel within the metal. It will discolour and rust over time. Stainless steel can easily be ruined when it contains too much iron (which is cheaper than nickel). I wouldn't be surprised if they all rusted within 3 years. Wish reviewers would question and investigate more than simply reading specs.
The stainless steel alloy they developed has higher corrosion resistance than Marine grade 316 stainless steel according to their engineer. Samples of the SS they gave out at delivery event were not magnetic if same alloy. Joiners, connectors below are probably causing the mild magnetism in some areas.
Sheeeeeit
Like it still a damn Polygon on wheels..........but it's a very technologically complex polygon.
It sucks that autopilot doesn't work yet on delivery & it sucks that the price changes are SOOO far off what was initially promised.
I'm still so perplexed why they made the truck so Freaking WEIRD. it feels like this is the truck company's should buy soley for like PR and Advertising their brand......which I mean a lot of Tesla owner already have the little QR codes in the windows to go follow them.
I think they made the classic mistake of over promising and under delivering....w/ this truck.
Tesla Engineers - Great Job pushing that 48volt Architecture and the Steer by Wire
Tesla Designers - We got BEEF lol (why make this thing so polarizing oh wait I forgot who your CEO is my b)
"Truck is hot in sun."
O rly?
Jesus has a special plan for your life, He is just waiting for you to accept Him. Thank you God for building different.
The regular cyber truck looks like a refrigerator with wheels.
Reaching over the side into the bed is lame… who does this?? I e had Cybertruck for 2 weeks and 2,000 miles now. Hauled all kinds of stuff. Never had the need, nor the desire, to try to reach over the side. 🤷🏻♂️
This is an issue for those who use tie downs on heavy loads. For everyone else this won’t be an issue
I do in my truck and the other comment is from the owner himself.
Careful talking about the rust, the Tesla fanbois will call you a liar because they don't know how stainless steel works
If everyone thinks the truck is so horrific like the comments, please stop the compliments in real life that I get. Everyone is smiling, excited, taking pictures with it, filming it as I go down the road, coming up to me in person saying how great it looks, and even truck drivers are excited to see it. I guess the keyboard warriors that are making these comments never leave the house since I haven't heard this negative FUD in person. Keep it up from your mommy's basement!
Exactly! 💯
Everyone loves the truck in person. It’s only the jealous keyboard warriors who propagate the nonsense. 😂
I’m so glad to know there are no trolls out there, I’m getting tired of trying to make some sense on the diocracy I see on the comment section
These things are built for the egos of insecure and immature people that have a need to be noticed. I’d be embarrassed to be seen in the ridiculous thing.💩🤮
This vehicle is going to have highest kill count in traffic.
Which is why you'll never see one in the EU. No way in hell it's compliant with the safety regulations.
Highest kill count in traffic… 🤔
@@TalesOfWar eu doesnt even have strict saftey regulations they have a whole bunch of chinese cars flooding the market, in the usa has none.
@@thang1742 Those cheap Chinese cars meet higher standards than this thing then.
That’s NOT a truck dude !!! That’s something some 6 year old built out of LEGOS 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Drive one you’ll be in Legoland for the rest of you life and deny making this comment.
It might be a truck that a 6 year old built out of Legos, but it does indeed meet the definition of a truck.
It just feels like they picked a shape, and then made everything fit it rather than made a thought out vehicle from the start.
they actually picked a material first (stainless steel)
"They" is Elon, obv. That's why it will be a failure.
100,000 for a truck that rusts. Idk man
Ikr, Elon’s circus is so last yesteryear. Fully autonomous evehicles are today’s thing.
Literally bro almost all trucks on the road Right Now. Are Rusted OR have Rust or ARE capable of Rusting…..
You’re a special one.
@@NotGarrettG*for a truck that rusts very early. There, better? I know they was going for a specific aesthetic, but clear coats are standard for a reason.
@@RemixerUltimate the first iteration of anything is never going to be the absolute best. Unless it is. There is no inbetween.
For some people, Scream is the best version. The OG. For SOME people, no matter how good something gets or is, people will always find reasons to hate.
Sometimes it’s actually justified to not like something, cool. Makes sense. No one wants rust. Sometimes it’s just haters being haters who would orgasm at the thought of having 100k for them to spend.
They don’t hate cause they don’t like it. They don’t like it cause they could never get it, even if they did like it.
Didn’t you guys get the memo from larz and elon? You are supposed to like the rust color. It’s vintage, patina, and they say it’s cool now. Nevermind that those glass panels are going to cost 4k dollars to replace when you break one, the vehicle is overweight, range is less than they advertise and cut in half during below 0 weather or above 90F weather, value drops like a stone after warranty is up, and you can’t leave it parked very long without being plugged in. Oh, and don’t worry about all the vandalism you’ll get because you stick out like a sore thumb. When you travel with it, or during severe weather, good luck finding a working charging station. It’s out of warranty and you want a mechanic to repair it that isn’t a tesla facility, pffft, don’t be silly, hope you brought your checkbook with a lot of zeros added on.
@6:25 I'm sorry r/holup, did Tesla serious delivery a $80K+ truck with rust on it from the factory. They can't be serious when there are like anti-rust clear coats on the market. Also doesn't that goes against Lemons law to sell a product with defects?
Is it a defect in the traditional sense if it's just a natural property of the material? The customer treated it that way and so did Tesla by replacing the panel. It's absolutely undesirable, but since that's how that alloy is, is it strictly a defect? There will likely be some kind of case on this and it will be curious to see the result
Jeez. What a piece of cr*p for 100K !
That truck so ugly
Ugliest vehicle ever. Not interested in the slightest.
Just ugly. Interior looks beyond boring. Cars already rusting on delivery. Couldn’t imagine if it snowed/iced getting the door open. 0-60 time is impressive.
Just like all teslas, even in ice, you can open the doors with the app.
Not a chance not even for free 🤮
