I hated it due to it not being photogenic like most teslas, but in person…. I like it. I wouldn’t buy it as I need a real truck for hot shotting but for a poking around town in retirement, I’d get one.
When I was driving my MSP in the snow this past weekend, the headlights kept getting dimmer. I realized the snow was building up on them. Maybe because the efficient LED lamps don’t throw enough heat to melt the snow. I’m thinking on the CT the snow might collect in that little ledge between the frunk lid and bumper where the headlights are, and again the LEDs won’t melt that.
What happened to tesla owners saying they don't want the attention whenever someone said their cars are plain jane and look like basic traffic? Now it's cool? 😂😂😂😂
It's like nobody at Tesla ever tested this thing in all real life driving conditions. Snow getting dumped into my cargo area? Horrible headlights. Loved your comment about limited range. It's a comment that could apply to every single all electric vehicle applied to driving cross country.
been to probably 20 tesla supercharger locations in the midwest, no canopies to be found, and the first 2 you go to have canopies with solar panels. We need to step our game up out here.
17:40 when the road is wet, you won’t have the same level of light reflecting back into your eyes off the road. Instead it reflects up and away from the car, appearing to be dark. That’s why you could see the lights from the trailer fine. But if you were on the back of the trailer, you would not have been able to see the red light. It’s natural. Pay more attention to how the headlights lit up the road in the beginning of the video, it looked like good projection with a crisp cutoff at the upper end of the beam.. and decent distance. I thought it was good.
@@DomClancy it would, front the drivers perspective of the semi. In this video, the camera is in the zone where part of that light is being directed. If there was a viral video anytime any other brand of truck got stuck in the snow, no one would own a truck. More on the driver than the truck. Anyone can get a truck stuck. It’s getting it unstuck that’s fun. Also, that truck probably wasn’t optimized for winter driving (obviously). We now know that any electric truck is 3x more efficient when towing than the average gas truck. And in very cold conditions when they are at their very worst, electrics are way more efficient than gas. There are other noteworthy metrics for comparison as well.
It's so ugly. And why do they never talk about the insurance costs for this thing? Yearly insurance is going to cost at least three times more than an average car.
What is your range between charges at 80mph? 90 miles? 150 miles? What is your SOC when you leave the charger and what is SOC when you start looking for a charger?
I think EVs are mostly for in town/local/daily use. I have two and 99% daily driving + home charging. Maybe 1-2 road trips per year and any places > 500miles, we fly. This use case works well for us.
The headlights aren't lighting the road because they are very low which means more of the light is reflected off the surface in the direction the headlights are pointing. This is simple physics. You want headlights high and pointed down to get the most light reflected back to you. They should be great for illuminating objects on the road but seeing potholes will be nearly impossible since they'll be below the angle of incidence. With the diffuse DRL bar where the headlights should be, they'll light up anything in the air blocking your view. If the headlights had been there instead, they'd be pointed out and down with a sharp cutoff beam and nothing in front of your view would be illuminated since there wouldn't be any light pointing right up at that point. A massive safety issue. They're going to have to change it.
My parents bought a 96 Dodge Ram, I believe we had the first extended cab version of the truck in all of Texas. People stopped us to look at it everywhere we went. Once the market was flooded with them, the novelty wore off. I just want an EV truck that looks like a 1990 Ford Ranger extended cab and has 300 miles range. No bells or whistles. I want crank windows! I want it to be efficient and slow.
They could make the lightbar dimmable in snow and the bed cover leave just 3...4 segments open so it would collect the snow. It could even have the snow cleaning mode where it pulls the bed cover back, leaving some segments open and then close back up, so now you have just the little bar of snow to wipe away from the back.
Watched from 🇬🇧. Really cool that you let them borrow the truck. The video was educational because it will be a fairly long while before we get to see a range of good real road video reviews of the Cybertruck. Thank you for letting them borrow the truck. I think a really cool design for the model x could be; having zero side doors and opening up in the back like one big set of alligator jaws. So the top opens up high enough to allow the tallest person to walk in and comfortable sit in the drivers seat without ducking.
I think I have some sense of how you feel. In 1976 I bought the first Honda Accord off the truck and let me tell you. Nobody even knew about them the way they did the cyber truck for years. Before that honda had nothing but those little peanuts, cvcc. It was a great little car and it turned heads like crazy. No filming no social media just car enthusiasts. Honda hit a home run right out of the gate. I'll never forget that car. The ergonomics and seat positioning, with terrific cloth seats kept ya planted and the manual trans will smooth as silk.
Looks good but when you change the way we use it (ie Drive, Reverse, no stalks for blinkers) accidents will happen because people aren't used to it. I"m worried this is going to be un-drivable.
Good video and very interesting video. I feel like there should have been a light bar under the front bumper pointing on an angle at the ground and maybe that would help light the road up better.
The tire grooves in the snow appear to be sufficient at level 6, with deeper grooves at level 7. Also, I too would have driven off at 8:04. Also also, have you ever checked out the Alien Jerky spot in Baker?
People can't figure out the doors and then he says "it's like a microwave" and they just instantly get it. Never seen something explained so well so fast before.
I use pickup trucks for work to transfer crates and equipment around. This would burn up too much work time to be effective but has some neat features, and until its tried ppl wont learn from it.
Those headlights are disappointing but there is the option to get a light bar for the roof. But you probably can't turn that on on the highway. Maybe in the future they can integrate some extra headlights in the lightbar?
There was a Tesla cyber truck in my school parking lot today!!! I thought I might share. It was at sky ranch middle school in sparks Nevada! I wish I could share the pictures I got!
Thanks for the first cyber truck video road trip. I’m just gonna stick with my 6.7 power stroke since I upgraded my truck to a 60-gallon fuel tank, and It least gives me close to thousand three hundred miles on a full fuel of diesel to empty. Honda hit a home run right out of the gate. I'll never forget that car. The ergonomics and seat positioning, with terrific cloth seats kept ya planted and the manual trans will smooth as silk.
The Accord is definitely one of the greats
That green looks fantastic
Looks good but when you change the way we use it (ie Drive, Reverse, no stalks for blinkers) accidents will happen because people aren't used to it. I"m worried this is going to be un-drivable.
“Is your friend Elon musk?”
Dan: “no”
You should’ve played the light show when everyone was there at the super chargers 😬
I don't even know how to do that. haha
Good video and very interesting video. I feel like there should have been a light bar under the front bumper pointing on an angle at the ground and maybe that would help light the road up better.
The game theory merch at 6:23 brought a tear to my eye :’)
Same
Hold up-
This two always have nice combo 😂😂❤❤❤❤
The tire grooves in the snow appear to be sufficient at level 6, with deeper grooves at level 7. Also, I too would have driven off at 8:04. Also also, have you ever checked out the Alien Jerky spot in Baker?
People can't figure out the doors and then he says "it's like a microwave" and they just instantly get it. Never seen something explained so well so fast before.
3:55 Look at the size of this freaking chicken! 😆
Cybertruck might not be the perfect road trip buddy but it sure knows how to turn heads and spark conversations
The way Zack says Dan slowly haha.
There was a Tesla cyber truck in my school parking lot today!!! I thought I might share. It was at sky ranch middle school in sparks Nevada! I wish I could share the pictures I got!
It looked like every other cybertruck right? Why take pictures😮
Thanks for the first cyber truck video road trip. I’m just gonna stick with my 6.7 power stroke since I upgraded my truck to a 60-gallon fuel tank, and It least gives me close to thousand three hundred miles on a full fuel of diesel to empty. Less stopping at a truck stop, and keep on driving to my destination. 😎🇺🇸
What's the price of filing up your truck? Two hundred dollars?
Подытожим:
Wrap a Cybertruck, that just make so much sense.
The PRND above the rear view mirror are just indicators ?
Saw you guys in Mesquite, Nevada. Awesome content, and answering the best questions you could for the owner. Saw a kid ask if you guys knew Elon Musk before you left Mesquite. You actually got me standing behind those kids holding some chairs!!
Its Urus not Yuris 5:40 😂😂😂
This IS America. Land of Excitement, Love & Hope !
That cop guy just shows how people are usually nice
i love how you guys showed how it would be on a road trip not to many test on vehicles like that
😂 “it’s like a microwave” 1000% accurate statement.
Thanks, will definitely get one once Tesla releases the final product in 2 yrs..lol.. thanks guys for being the beta testers you do get some UA-cam money for being one of the first early adopters, so actually smart move. Got my Model Y after 2 yrs and Model 3 when they finally actually lowered the price. Love these Tesla just have to know when to get them.
Yup! Ýou seem to have gauged Elon's character. Anyone familiar with Elon will know that Elon likes to beta test his products in real life situation. Thats just how he approaches things. I mean just look at how he blew up several Starships complete with their boosters just to learn from them and do better next time.
"If you dont make a lot of mistakes you're not innovating enough" -Elon
Tesla charging areas are like a cult gathering of virgins.
😂😂
17:50 it appears the headlights were designed, designated for cool looks factor over function and (purpose of use) but dang does that truck look cool!
I'm so jealous! For one my order hasn't been filled yet. And two, that's even worse i don't know if ill be able to afford it. Maybe if I sell my model 3 I can get it. Till then you guys have fun in your Cybertruck!
xoxo
JESUS loves you so much and may you receive HIS Comfort and feel HIS love, and just know that the darker our situation the lighter HE shines, if you believe in HIM and turn from your sins, you will be saved, if you have not.
